I’ve been using Noom for a month. Not only am I losing weight, but I’m learning a lot! It’s nice to connect with others who are in the same boat too.
I am very happy with the Noom experience so far. It is helping me reshape my attitude toward food and toward life. It keeps you on track daily. It keeps you disciplined and on task. The coaches have been very helpful as well. I am planning to stick with the program. The only constructive criticism I would give is that the pedometer is not consistent with my watch that I wear daily. I have overcome this obstacle by manually logging my exercise on the app.
I have learned a lot about eating, weight loss and gain, and the effect stress can have on both. A lot of myths about food have been debunked.
I am starting my 6th week and my clothes are fitting much looser! I have a chronic illness which affects my ability to do strenuous exercise. Come to find out through NOOM, exercise isn't going to move that needle on the scale. Sure it is important to keep our body healthy, but to actually move the needle not so much. I feel so informed about weight loss and healthy eating! Triggers, thought processes, slips and battles along the journey of weight loss is explained so thoroughly by NOOM. I now know why the many programs I tried never kept the weight off. I move with so much easier, it is truly amazing! I am so thankful to have found NOOM!
This is a good app to be with you throughout your weight loss marathon. I think it gives practical as well as psychological tips and tricks to keep you going even when things get hard. I would recommend this app to anyone who is serious about losing weight and keeping it off.
I think Noom is a good program in general and worth it if you are thinking of losing weight. I think it has more information than any weight loss program I’ve done before.
I'll break it down with Pros & cons
Pros:
Daily tasks - I found it kept me accountable. I've done weight watchers before and I lost interest because I was just logging meals. I like the way Noom has tasks to keep you interested and there is a ton of good/scary information in there!
Personal Coach- I liked that I had someone to ask questions too. They did assure me that they were real too! It was also good to be reminded that they are there to COACH you NOT to make you do the right thing!
Group- This one surprised me. I don't usually like group things (hence why I do them online). But it was really nice to hear from everybody else with their struggles and wins. It made it more personable.
Weigh In- Nobody that is doing a weight loss programs likes to look at the scale but I when you do it everyday it normalizes it. It also helps you see how much your weight can fluctuate within a day!
Ease of use- Self explanatory.
Cons
Price - Its on the more expensive side but I think worth it.
Calories - So this is my biggest complaint. I found the daily calorie allotment to be quite low. I know that to loss weight you have to cut out calories but I found it to be too much. In all honesty, I didn't listen to the calorie restriction because it was so ridiculous AND I was still able to loss weight at a healthier speed. I was wanting to loss 10lbs so maybe that’s why it was so low… I know that for me to maintain the weight I was, I needed 1950 calories a day. Noom dropped it down to 1250calories a day. That’s 700 calories less! I tried to cut it back by 200-300 calories and found it much more manageable.
Personal Coach – Yes, its also in the pros but it also has some cons. I found that my coach left long delays in conversations. This being said, I know that she probably had another 200 clients! I also found that my coach wasn’t too informed about nutrients. I think this program can really depend on you who get for a personal coach.
Hidden stuff – As easy as the app was to use, I found that some things were hidden. If you wanted to loss weight at “turtle” speed or “rabbit” speed you had too really look for it in the settings.
Noom is a very good company but I think it should be more flexible in being able to log your foods in on the computer not just my smartphone. I have a good goal specialist and group coach.
Noom is a great tool for weight loss, but it's more than just a diet. It's re-education and attitude adjustment as well as support and encouragement.
Super helpful information. Love the psychology behind everything. I will say that the amount of information given every day is, in my opinion, a bit much. Very helpful, just too much. For people like myself who feel like we’re expected to do it all every day, I feel like I’ve failed and won’t achieve my goal when I can’t get to it. That’s something I can work on and though it’s also something for them to be mindful of. There’s lot of opportunity for people to succeed in this program. Just do as much as you can stick with it.
I am pleased with the support. Sometimes the articles every day are too much and I skim, looking for the really good stuff. One or two would be plenty. The support adds a lot when I'm having problems. I don't feel left all alone as I did at ***. Making choices to fit the calorie schedule has become easier and I'm employing all the aspects now. It took me awhile to get in the groove. But I feel as if I'm learning, and adapting without being bullied. I've gotten it figured out. It's healthy and a change of lifestyle. Good info there. Good support. Active. Like that. Will stick with it.
I believe the basic plan is great. I have lost almost 30 pounds and it doesn't feel like dieting. But in your daily program I like the info you provide though it's been very simplified. Only complaint is that it primarily seems to be written for women. Otherwise a wonderful program
Please leave the *** out. Not needed and I cannot remember what initials stand for what...I am old! I do like the program very much and like the encouragement and suggestions received. I cannot do the suggested exercizes as I have had both knees replaced and cannot do lunges, knee bends etc. so I walk and walk and walk!! I have already suggested this program to my son.
I think that this is definitely worth the money--the element of being able to talk to REAL people is my favorite. However, sometimes I feel like I'm skimming through the articles instead of devoting the time necessary to understand the concepts. I wish that I could choose to do the articles at my own pace. Sometimes I feel like the app assumes that because I quiz "out," that means I'e applied the practices and psychology. But in reality, I haven't.
Love this app! Logging meals and counting steps/activity has helped me make healthy habits. I like the articles (although some days there are too many.) The coach interaction is fairly general and I don't find it very helpful, but it's nice that it's there for those who need it. I like seeing how other people in my group are doing.
I joined Noom to assist me in weight loss and the comraderie of others to help me on the journey. Five weeks into the program and I have not lost an abundance of weight but I have learned and continue to learn strategies to help me walk in Victory of this never ending diet cycle. I have been encouraged to "keep on keeping on" as well as encouraged others. The benefits of having daily contact with coach and group have helped tremendously. Only area I struggle with is the tasks sometimes take more time than I have available.
I love the way Noom goes back to basic principles of eating. There is no denying of food. It resets our bodies to healthy eating. The one thing I do not like are all the acronyms. There are so many of them I do not remember.
I joined Noom not knowing what to expect. It has definitely been a different journey than I would have thought! It has a lot of insight I had never learned or thought about. The daily articles and information feel very realistic while still being optimistic. Having a group to help out is also nice. Seeing other people’s successes and struggles makes it all the more real.
I will say sometimes the information feels like too much, as I can hardly remember all of the stuff I’ve learned! (It’s been a lot.) It would be nice to have some reminders/reviews to go through. I know there is a bookmark system, but unfortunately it is not organized at all and I have to spend a lot of time looking through it before I find what I’m looking for.
Otherwise, I’ve been pleasantly impressed. It’s a really decent price after the 2 week trial! I’m going to keep doing my best. Being able to log in and learn something new, get challenged, and think about my health differently has made an impact on me. Here’s to the future with Noom!
I love the Step Goal and logging food. I have a hard time reading everything on a daily basis so I usually catch up on the weekends.
So far I have enjoyed the program but believe there should be improvements. I would appreciate access to the food listing so I can plan meals without actually entering them and finding out I have accidentally gone over my calories for the day. Also after reading from other reviews about the auto charge and people not being refunded their money,? I can’t recommend this program to anyone else. In fact I may not renew because of it. That is extremely poor customer service.
I am glad I joined Noom and it has gently pushed me forward in my weight loss journey. There are solid ideas and science to back it all up and the extra support from your team and your coach when needed. It makes losing weight a little easier and more of a team sport.
Before joining I was a user of ***. Although there was no individual support their technical stuff was better. They had access to more foods and more restaurants. Noom seems to be a little behind the curve on this one. Also, you can only put the program on one device so it’s somewhat limiting. Again, *** allowed 2 devices. So, I am having better results with Noom, but I wish it were a little more tech savvy.
