I love your program. It picks up where so many diet have failed, the emotional and psychological aspect of weight loss. I've been struggling for years to lose the weight. I've done well with Weight Watchers but counting points can only work for so long. Throughout the years I've developed an unhealthy relationship with food. It became my comfort solution for stressful life events. Noom is actually addressing that issue. I'm learning HOW to eat again. I'm slowly losing my weight but I'm OK with it. Thanks to you, I've learned how to set realistic goals. You don't sugarcoat the program. You say it like it is. Weight loss is a journey with bumps in it. I'm slowly learning to eat without guilt. I'm learning so much about nutrition and more importantly, about myself. Thank you.
I stayed with a two week trial, and gained enough confidence in those two weeks that I approved the six week program. I'm learning, thinking and losing weight. So far I'm down ten pounds, but for the first time in thinking clearly about what I'm eating. Calorie density makes sense! Slow and steady I'm making progress. I have not seen the monthly billing yet to know if there is a challenge with the amount or how to cancel. Will likely keep on the plan for at least 6 months.
This is really a great program and business model and full of useful, scientifically based, information that I found interesting and compelling for changing behavior patterns for now and into the future. The reason for four stars is that I wish there would be a modified path or alternative for participants of different ages. I am in my 80th year and really would like an age-specific program that considers the metabolism of elders, their likely life styles, and their worn-down bodies.
I love this program. It has helped me stay focused on my most important goals in a way that other programs have not done. It could be improved with a desktop version. Using a smartphone for all of the daily check-ins and assignments is hard for me at times. The visibility and size can be difficult, and I wish they had paid more attention to accessibility in their design. Even with that issue, this has been a wonderful program for me.
I am quite impressed with the Noom app and program. The information that is given to us daily is well researched, relevant, and helpful. The coaches are stellar. My personal coach has been very helpful and insightful as I go through the program while dealing with the stressful complexities of life.
One thing I would like to have, that the program has not allowed is a printout of the material. I find having to scroll through the pages of witty dialogue annoying when I am looking for a particular diagram or sequence of behavioural modification.
My favourite part of the program is the ease of logging your food. It is much easier than any other program I have tried.
I would also like the option to pause my program and return to it as life permits. I am currently in a situation that is not conducive to dieting and yet I’m not wanting to let the program go.
If only the iPad app was just as good as the iPhone app I would be 100% satisfied but they don’t sync.
It is a good program for weight loss using psychology.
I paid $150 for a year membership and I am glad because I could never afford to pay monthly. I have a couple friends that are waiting for an 80% off year member ship email that I got so they can buy their membership because they agree with me.
Also I wish the coaches were a bit more responsive. I’m told to make a goal for the week with my coach but I won’t hear from her until the week is almost over! Some sort of automated answering support system could improve this so I don’t feel like nobody is listening.
If there was a way to see your progress in chart form when it comes to how many times you’ve hit your calorie goal or step goal I would feel more rewarded by looking back on my progress (not just my weight).
Pricey, but the scientific and psychological reasoning has helped me make better choices and understand why. I’ve lost weight. Their food catalog is not very extensive. You cannot copy meals from one day to the next. I have the same thing for breakfast every day, it’s a pain to renter the whole thing.
I find the information on the app to be very helpful! The calorie tracking is great!
I do not find the group or coaching to be helpful personally...
So far so good!
Tracking food is easy-peasy- much better than other methods I’ve tried - and I like having a personal counselor.
Not a fan of the group thing (feels too *** to me) but I was able to get that feature disabled on my account- a great service to me, that I genuinely appreciated.
Hit my first goal in a little over a month. I’ll definitely hang out on this app till I get to my final goal, and maintain it for 6 mos or so.
Noom has helped me lose weight, even keeping off lost weight on vacation. I find it works for me using a lot of different strategies: accountability, psychological dynamics of eating and weight loss, and the ability to be in a group without having to leave my home.
However, there are a few things that bug me: there is a lot of nerd humor that is sometimes TOO much. And there are so many terms! There should be a glossary we can refer to for better understanding of concepts.
1. Since they are going to charge you for 6 months, they should spread the lessons out over 6 months instead of cramming it in 16? weeks. It is too much each day - takes more than their "10 minutes" and goes so fast you don't have time to process and implement. Some of their advice is contradictory and also they need a decent editor. It doesn't work on a computer - you must have a smartphone.
I like the concept. I still haven't lost any real weight. I'm not through the program yet so hopefully.
Overall Noom is helpful. You have to put the work in, make effort. Logging really helps as do the tips and tricks. I wish there was a way to track water. Also to build recipes. If I am fixing a meal I have to add all the ingredients then try and figure out how much of it I am actually eating.
The main reason I chose Noom was because of the personal coaching. This has been really disappointing. I rarely hear from my coach. I need help ans guidance and all I get is, How do you plan to that, or similar. Well, I don't know that's why I needed a coach. It's been a big let down in that aspect. Not sure I would have joined had I known the lack of coaching. The groups are ok. Kinda hit and miss on how helpful they can be.
If you don't know much about behavior change and healthy eating strategies, Noom is a great program.
However, I found the education to be too basic for my needs. (I didn't learn much new info that I hadn't already been exposed to through work or my own learning; to be fair, I work in health care.
I also found the individual coaching to be too infrequent to be a solid resource. I'm good at identifying goals, so my coach would often just say, "Sounds like you got this," when my issue is actually execution, not lack of knowledge or needing help making a plan.
This isn’t what I expected when I signed up. The fees are higher and the support isn’t really there. The activity will not sync with my Apple Watch and I have found the calorie counter isn’t accurate a good percentage of the time. I can not recommend this as a worthwhile dieting program. It’s not any better than *** and costs a lot more!
I do like the structure and although the integration is a little tricky with MyFitnessPal/FitBit, I do like that they are able to sync. In my opinion, the goal specialist I worked with asked too many questions repetitively and did less with advising/consulting/recommending and the group I was a part of was really too large to feel accountable to. A happy medium would have been a one v one consultant to help hold me more accountable on a daily basis and a smaller group option to really develop relationships with others.
The good
- very insightful and informative articles on behavioral science and nutrition.
- promote a balance lifestyle centered on nutrition and food choice as bases for weight loss.
- great for people who are new to exercise.
- information is delivered in cleverly packaged digestible chunks.
- higher accuracy for caloric measurement.
- daily weigh in record/graph
The not so good
- App is lacking in features ex: enter your own recipe, workouts etc
- interaction with "on call" nutritionalist feels like A.I. and lacks empathy and emotion.
- not much support or information for people who work out regularly.
- long ramp up period.
- user interface can be hard to navigate.
One complaint I have with the program is that I feel it is geared more toward 20 year olds. I am in my 40's & feel that the language they use & way they put information out seems geared more toward a younger group. I absolutely hate all of the acronyms they use!! I also feel that the price is a little steep for what I am getting. Most of the information is common knowledge. I do like the program for the accountability aspect. I will continue the program & hopefully not have problems when my "contract" is up.
I feel like I’m getting what I signed up for with the app. Two things could be better: 1. Make billing easily accessible from the dashboard of the app and 2. Find a way to make the food database more accurate. Surely, there is some kind of DB program Noom can subscribe to.;
Didn’t receive much guidance from my coach. It was not at all what I expected
