Review: RCA 52" HDTV serial number 2213-LE52B45-A101662 is non-functional less than 2 years from original purchase. Customer support non responsive.

I purchased a 52" RCA HDTV from Kmart in Abilene, TX in November of 2012. It has serial number 2213-LE52B45-A101662. I am the original owner. When this television turns on, it produces a grey screen with no picture, blinks, then automatically turns itself off. This TV was mounted on Christmas of 2012 and has never been moved. There is no abuse, wear or misuse. This product is defective. I called Customer Service for ONCORP(RCA) at 1-888-977-6722 who then referred me to a phone number (858) 798-3300 where there was no live person, and I was instructed to leave a message, which I did. The representative that called back stating that since it was 8 months out of the one year warranty that there was nothing that can do or allow for repairs. Emails sent to the RCA website Customer Support have gone unanswered. Upon doing some online research, I discovered this was a common issue with RCA televisions produced earlier this decade. This television had a retail price of $699. It should last quite a bit longer than one year and 20 months. It hasn't. I would expect RCA/ONCORP to address this issue and if it is a common problem, to have a solution for its' customers. I need to have this television either replaced or the compensation for the needed repairs provided for this clearly defective unit that I have in my home. The model number I believe is LE52B45RQ and the serial number definitely is 2213-LE52B45-A101662. RCA/ONCORP is producing defective merchandise that is designed to fail shortly after the one year warranty expires.Desired Settlement: I need either this television replaced or repaired since the power supply to this unit is not holding and is clearly defective.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

We have been in contact with Mr. Pastemak III. We do offer a one year manufacturers warranty, but he is 8 months out of the one year warranty. There I nothing we are able to do to assist with the repair or replacement of his television due to it being so far out of warranty. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This company is selling defective merchandise that is designed to fail shortly after the warranty has expired. If you look at the reviews for this model and others created by ONCorp since 2010, you will most definitely see a pattern of poor quality, defective, high priced merchandise such as the television I purchased with a retail price of $699.99.

At that price, it should last 20 years, not 20 months. This response adds nothing new to their original response of "oh well, sorry you purchased our defective product, tough luck," and is 100% rejected.

The television is currently at the repair shop, awaiting a determination and estimate of the cost to repair this defective television or if it is even worth fixing at all.

Regards,

Review: I purchased a [redacted] model [redacted] 40" LCD television manufactured by On Corp US in Dec. 2012. In Oct. 2014, I started having intermittant trouble with it. The power would come on, but there was no picture or sound. The manufacturer call center said the TV was only warrantied for 12 months, so I went to an independant repair shop, who told me it was a main board failure, and it would be cheaper to buy a new set. He also told me that this was a common problem with this model, and that it was a manufacturing issue (poor quality or defective parts). I am a senior citizen of a fixed income, and cannot afford to be paying $300.00 every 2 years to replace something that should last AT LEAST 5 years or more. When I contacted the manufacturer directly to try to remedy this problem, they told me that there was nothing I could do besides buy a new TV. I only want them to repair thier product for a reasonable price, or replace it with the same model. I don't think that asking a company to stand behind thier product is too much to ask. I would appriciate your immediate attention to this matter. Please contact me as soon as possible.Desired Settlement: Repair for a reasonable price or replace with the same model.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

Our manufacturers warranty is only good for one year from the purchase date. This customer states she is one year past the end of the one year warranty. With no recalls or any common issues with this model, we are unable to assist the customer.

Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The Business states that they cannot help me because the warranty is out of date, and there are "no recalls or any common issues with this model". I find this very odd considering that I have contacted the three authorized [redacted] TV repair centers in my area, ([redacted], and [redacted]), as well as On Corp US online call center, and been told, in each case, that this was a "common issue" with this model. The fact that there has not been a recall of the model is undoubtedly due to the fact that the defect does not pose a safety risk. The fact that a major electronic componant routinely fails within two years of manufacture is not only disturbing, but indicitive of a serious flaw in the device. It does not seem like too much to request that the company stands behind their product, and repairs this issue in order to bolster good customer relations and avoid any further complaints or adverse publicity. I look forward to a speedy and favorable resolution to this issue.Sincerely,

Review: I purchased my son 32' LED RCA tv/dvd combo 6/30/14 for $199.00, this product comes with a 1 year manufactures warranty . The DVD player has started ejected movies very slowly, and now it will not read any DVD and says no signal. I contacted ON CORP US as on RCA website that is who I need to contact for service 2 weeks ago. After spending over an hour on the phone "troubleshooting" I was advised to take the TV back to Sear's where I purchased it for repair/replacement. Friday 12/05 my husband and I drove to the Sear's to attempt o get the TV repaired or replaced, they were no help only turning us away advising they could not help us. So Saturday morning I called back to the 1-888 number and no one would assist me, I was hung up on 3 different times, transferred to several different departments that had nothing to do with why I called, dealt with extremely rude customer service agents one saying "she didn't know to tell me, it wasn't her fault my TV was broke" and then hung up in my face again. After 2 hours of calling over and over and no one being able to help me or advise where to take the TV, I was advised this was a "manufactures warranty" and would need to be take up with RCA directly. ON the back of my TV it advises ON CORP, per RCA ON CORP handles all service repairs for their products and they are also the service reps for RCA. After not being able to waste another minute calling, I then went back online and filled another request for service again advising I have been given the run around for 2 weeks, and got a response back this morning advising I would need to call the 888 number again. This has got to be the most horrible customer service experience I have ever encountered in my life. My son is 4 years old, I need the TV working and apparently RCA/ON CORP is not going to honor it's warranty per my experience with them in the last week. HORRIFIC experience is an understatement. I will NEVER PURCHASE anything RCA again in my life.Desired Settlement: If RCA/ON CORP will not honor the service warranty that is still within the warranty period, I expect the TV to be replaced.

Dear Revdex.com,I have personally emailed with Ms. [redacted] regarding her sons TV. The issue has been resolved. She should be receiving the replacement within 2 weeks. Thank you.

Review: We purchased an [redacted] TV last March in [redacted] from [redacted] for a vacation home we own. The person who checks on our place when we aren't there said the TV stopped working and wouldn't turn on. We called [redacted] as directed under "how to obtain service" in the one-year warranty, and after being transferred back and forth between tech support and "registering the warranty" they said they couldn't help because they didn't have service reps in [redacted]. Then we called [redacted]) who said since the purchase was older than 30 days, they didn't have any responsibility and that [redacted] was responsible under the 1-year manufacturer's warranty and that we should call [redacted]. When we told them we had, they called [redacted] on our behalf and were told [redacted] would not honor the warranty because they do not have service providers there. If we brought it back to the mainland, the warranty would be honored, they said. No one said the warranty was not valid. (It's not worth packing it up and shipping it back to the mainland.) The [redacted] rep apologized and said there was nothing they could do. A consideration in our choice was the one-year warranty (some TVs had a shorter warranty period), and we chose not to purchase an extended warranty which [redacted] had offered and said it would take effect when the manufacturer's warranty expired. We have a longer version with more details if desired and all the paperwork, receipt, etc. We were asking for a replacement. Now we would prefer a refund after all the hassle we have gone through.Desired Settlement: Either a check or credit to the credit card I paid with.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I purchased an RCA TV (model LRK32G45RQD) on March 14, 2015. Now, it does not work and it is still under warranty. On November 18, 2015, I sent an email to the company (RCA website), and it was returned due to a bad address. On Nov. 19, 2015, I called 858-798-[redacted] and option 1 for this company does not work. I pressed 0 and it does not work.Desired Settlement: I purchased this TV for $298.53 from [redacted].com. My hope is that the manufacturer will refund my purchase price.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I went to [redacted] in Roseville Mi. and leased a 50" RCA tv on Dec. 4th, 2015. When I got the tv home and started the tv up and the tv screen had LED issues. Took that tv back on Dec 4th, 2015 and replaced that it, Then two days later my new replacement tv from [redacted] went out. Called RCA they sent someone out to look at the tv and I was told the motherboard was burned out and the parts wouldn't be in till Jan 25th, 2016. On or around Jan 25th, 2016 someone called me from RCA and told me that the parts was on back order and UPS will have the new parts to me by Feb 5th 2016. On or about Feb 5th, 2016 I got a call from RCA that the parts are still on back order, I asked for a refund for the tv and I was told someone would call me back in 24hr. Three days later (Feb 8th, 2016) RCA called to tell me that they are going to refund me the money that was paid for the tv and they only print checks the first of the month and I would get my refund in the mail by March 10th, 2016. It is no March 23rd and I have not received my refund and they will not answer the phone and or call me back.Desired Settlement: They WILL NOT CALL, WRITE and/or RETURN MY CALLS.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: Proscan TV [redacted] was purchased at Kmart for $326.00 on 5/30/2013. Troubleshooting was ineffective, internet provided a support manual, but did not help. I called the 1 800, the man I spoke with was not understandable. His accent was so strong and it made the experience very difficult! The little I could understand was that I would have to send the tv to New York to have it fixed! I am well within the Proscan warranty.Desired Settlement: I want my tv repaired! I should not have to shell out extra money by sending the tv to New York.

Dear Revdex.com,

Review: I have been dealing with RCA since 8-11-14. I purchase 3 tablets and they are all defective. The first on I called about on 8-11-14, it got hot during the charging process. I unplugged it and came back later to find that the back popped off and the battery had swelled to 3 times its normal size. The other 2 tablets were getting hot while charging and no longer will charge. I have two tickets opened through RCA. Tickets numbered [redacted] for the swelled battery and [redacted] for the charging problem tablets. I have been dealing with RCA since 8-11-14 and it is now 11-24-14. I have spoken with 3 supervisors over 5 times and still have no results. First I was told that I would get the tablet in 4-6 weeks. Than on 9-26-14 I was told that I didn't email with problem details, which I was never told to. Ever since than I have been getting the same information, I have escalated your ticket number and you will get an email by Friday. I have heard that for over two months now. And the second ticket number I was to mail them the other defective tablets, but why should I have to do that when I can't even get the first ticket resolved. I do not trust that I would even get those replaced in a timely matter. These tablets did not even last 9 months. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service and highly frustrated with this situation. I feel as if they are trying to run out the clock on the warranty so they do not have to replace them. I was worried that the tablet batteries will explode and cause harm to my children or myself. I have placed them in there boxes and put them in a location where we can be safe.Desired Settlement: All I want is to have the 3 tablets replaced and not have to ship out the defective ones until I receive the replacements. I want quality products. I want customer service that is helpful. I do not think that I am asking very much. I want not to be afraid that a product could hurt someone.

Review: I bought an RCA 55" TV from [redacted], it is still under RCA factory warranty. On 1-20-2015 Called oncorp customer service to set up a time for a technician to come repair my tv. First, they told me that they did not have a technician in my area and did not know when one would be available. After several calls back to Oncorp I finally got a date of 2-10-2015 on 2-9-2015 I called to verify my appointment they had no record of any such appointment; so we got a new service date of 2-18-2015. My wife took off work to meet the repair man; technician showed up had no parts. The company was told what was wrong with the tv when I first called. The technician said parts would have to be ordered and shipped to me then I would have to call and set up another appointment for repairman to come back out in two weeks.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Replacement

I would like for TV to be replaced by a new TV not a refurbished one
