Penn Credit Corporation Reviews (497)

I have reviewed and investigated the complaint. The monies owed are taxes due the State of Virginia for tax years ending 2005, 2006, 2010 & 2011.
If [redacted] does not believe he is the proper person; I would need him to verify that the last four (4) of his social securtiy number is...

[redacted].
I have placed each tax year in a disputed status until we are able to resolve the concerns.
If the social security is not correct and/or he acknowledges the debt and wants to discuss further please have him contact Thomas P[redacted], Vice President direclty toll free ###-###-#### or email him at [redacted]@penncredit.com.
I am asking for contact in some form for either result due to the personal identifable information concerning the account. If it not him I can’t dicsuss further and I need to update the file to not attempt to communicate with him any longer. If the information is correct I will need to discuss the debt and inform him of what I can provide for validation of the debt directly to him.
Thank you for your assistance in the resolution of this matter

Penn Credit reviewed and investigated the complaint.  I appreciate [redacted] providing the additional information requested, as a result I located the account referenced in this complaint.  Please advise [redacted] that the original creditor closed this account from [redacted] on September 21, 2015.  Penn Credit notified the credit bureaus to delete the trade-line from [redacted] credit reports on September 24, 2015.  It appears the credit bureau(s) failed to delete this trade-line upon receiving notification from Penn Credit.  Due to the account still appearing on one or more of [redacted] credit bureau reports, I am sending another deletion notification to the credit bureaus.  Please understand that it may take the credit bureaus up to twenty days to update their records.  Penn Credit does not know the status of this account, should [redacted] require additional information regarding the matter, she will need to contact the original creditor directly. Please advise [redacted] to contact me directly if she has any questions or concerns.  My name is [redacted], I can be reached toll free at [redacted]; or email [redacted]     Thank you for your assistance and resolution regarding the matter.

Please be advised that the Revdex.com complaint is the first
notification we have received we are calling an incorrect phone number, I have

future calls from Penn Credit.

Penn Credit has reviewed the consumer's response. We will place an additional update through E-Oscar in an attempt to have the bureaus do the update. Additionally, please have the consumer contact [redacted] and dispute the account, this may also help expedite the update.
Penn Credit reposts to the three major bureaus and two of them acknowledged the update; hopefully the second attempt with [redacted] will be successful. Again please allow approximately 20 days for the update.

I contact the Revdex.com and they have listened to the conversation between you and the collection representative. As stated in my previous response I have requested validation of the debt and once received I will forward to the consumer. As outlined by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit reporting Act I have ceased collection efforts and sent a disputed update to the credit bureau through E-Oscar. Once the dispute or validation is resolved and the consumer has had a chance to review and respond the credit bureau will be updated to reflect the proper status. I am still willing to discuss the matter with the consumer. If he is interested please have him call me toll free ###-###-#### or email me at tom.p[redacted]@penncredit.com

RE:     [redacted]
Case:   [redacted]
            Please be advised
that Penn Credit takes pride in following all Federal and State collection
laws.
Our client [redacted] placed an account in our office
on September 15, 2014; the required validation notice was mailed to the last
address of record for [redacted] on September 16, 2014.  A second notice was mailed on November 2,
2014.
We received a phone call from [redacted] on December 15,
2014 where she offered to pay the balance in full if Penn Credit would remove
from her credit file.  Both an agent and
a supervisor explained to [redacted] that we are unable to remove an account
from the credit bureau in exchange for payment.
[redacted] followed up her request by sending an email
stating that she did not authorize the set up of the service in her name, but
was willing to pay if we agreed to remove from her credit report.
Our VP of collections Tom P[redacted] responded to [redacted]’s with an email stating the following:
[redacted] if this is a fraud account, please
complete the attached fraud packet and I will forward it to the original
creditor for review. I am placing a disputed status on your account reporting
as required under the FCRA.
You will be notified of their findings once complete and the
credit bureau will be updated or deleted upon the results of the investigation.
If you have any additional questions please contact me.
This email is from a debt collection company. I am a debt
collector with Penn Credit. This is an attempt to collect a debt and any
information obtained will be used for that purpose
            To date we
have not received [redacted]’s fraud packet back or received any information
from our client that they have received the paperwork.
           Thank
you for your assistance in the resolution of this matter
Sincerely,
Timothy F[redacted]

Penn Credit did review and investigate the complaint. Penn Credit does not have record of the consumer’s request of validation . I did update [redacted]’s account to a disputed status and the status will be updated to the credit bureau.  Additionally, I did request validation of the debt....

If that is not the correct address or she has any additional questions or concerns please have her contact Thomas P[redacted] directly toll free ###-###-#### or email him at [redacted]@penncreditcom if he should receive any additiional calls. RE:       [redacted]
Case:    [redacted]

Penn Credit takes pride in following all Federal and State Collection calls.

Below are the results of the investigation into [redacted]. [redacted]’s complaint.

1.     The consumer sent a letter requesting validation of the debt on 2/28/2013.
2.      Validaiton was requested, recevied and forwarded to the consumer on 3/18/2013
3.      Consumer did not contact Penn Credit again until 6/17/2014, requesting the same validation of the debt.
4.      Consumer then faxed a letter to Penn Credit offering to settle the $722.64 debt for $75.00 with the condition of deleting it from the credit bureau.
5.      Penn Credit does not have authorization to settle the debt for $75.00 but is willing to settle for $362.00; however, Penn Credit will only update the credit bureau to reflect the account as settled in full, oursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
6.      The consumer is not disputing the bill, she is attempting to get the credit line deleted from the credit bueaus.
7.      Penn Credit will not violate FCRA reporting Regulations.
8.      Since Penn Credit already provided validation of the debt and **. [redacted] acknowledged her debt by offerng a settlement for deletion does not provide documentation that the account is disputed, or valid reasons to remove the tradeline. If the consumer is able to provide that information Penn Credit will update the credit bureau to the proper reporting including deletion if applicable.

RE:     [redacted]
Case:  [redacted]
             Please be advised
that Penn Credit takes pride in following all Federal and State collection
laws.
I was able to locate both calls on 10/13/2014 in
reference to Penn Credit contacting an incorrect phone number.   In reviewing the first call our agent never
identifies herself as Nicole.  She does
transfer the call to a manager who attempts to help [redacted] by
requesting all the possible phone numbers we could be calling to see if we can
locate the phone number in question and remove it from our database.
I have checked our database for the phone number on the complaint
as well as the phone number [redacted] called into our office on
10/13/2014.
Penn Credit recently received a phone call from a police
department located in Arizona that our toll free phone number was showing up on
a consumer’s caller id,  after they
investigated the situation they notified us that another company  could be using our phone number to hide where
they actually calling from.
This practice is called “caller
ID spoofing”
            PER
the Federal Communications Commission: Caller ID service is susceptible to
fraud. Using a practice known as "caller ID spoofing”, where callers can
deliberately falsify the telephone number and/or name relayed as the Caller ID
information to disguise the identity of the calling party. For example,
identity thieves who want to collect sensitive information such as your bank
account or other financial account numbers, your social security number, your
date of birth or your mother's maiden name, sometimes use caller ID spoofing to
make it appear as though they are calling from your bank, credit card company,
or even a government agency."
We have filed a complaint with the FCC (reference number [redacted])
concerning this issue.

Please be advised that PP&L confirmed that [redacted] was enrolled in the CAP program, however the account was already credited prior to coming to collections. The CAP program did not resolve the entire balance and the debt remains outstanding. For this reason, Penn Credit will not remove the account from the credit bureaus.  If [redacted] decides to satisfy the debt, Penn Credit will notify the credit bureaus that the account is resolved with a zero balance, however it will not be deleted from [redacted]’s credit reports.       Penn Credit received verification of the debt from the original creditor which was mailed to [redacted] on April 18, 2017.  [redacted] should receive the itemized breakdown within the next few business days.   In the event [redacted] has questions or concerns, please advise them to contact me directly, Thomas Perrotta, toll free at [redacted] extension [redacted] or email [redacted]@penncredit.com.   Thank you for your help in resolving this matter.

Mr./Mrs./Ms. [redacted]
I have reviewed your reply to my response and understand your frustration. We do show that you have made several payments on the accounts. The payments have been very small, but the intent is there. We show your last payment on 11/24/2014 for a total of $2.00. Please let me know if any payments have been made after that date that may be missing.
I have placed a disputed status on the Lotion and Spa set and will cease all collection activity for that account.
Have you contacted the original creditor on the items that you were not satisfied with. If so did they provide you a response.
If you haven’t contacted the original creditor on those items please do so; I am sure they will provide you with the necessary instructions for resolution.
If you are not satisifed with my answer I can cease communication with you concerning the entire debt if you wish; however, I do not have control over what continued actions the original creditor will take.
I would like to help you resolve your concerns. Please let me know if there anything else I can do to satisfy your complaint.

I called them to set up a payment plan after the Comptroller of Maryland had washed there hands with the money I owe them. They were actually very helpful and nice to talk too. I did pay a large amount of the debt off during my first conversation with them, so maybe that's why they were so helpful. I set a 6 month payment plan and they debut it from my account. Really no problem with them, if you owe a debt just pay it off!
My only complaint is that the state of Maryland would use a 3rd party to collect money!

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]
 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I have been falsely accused of making racial comments, and these false accusations have been shared with a third-party, which now makes peen credit liable for slander. You say that you have a recording, well did  you verify who you were speaking with, or simply ask if the person that you were speaking with was the person that you were looking for? In other words, you were discussing personal information with someone not legally allowed to receive that information.you need to apologize to me for falsely accusing me of making racial comments.
Regards,
[redacted]

Penn Credit did review and investigate the complaint; however, I was not able to locate the account in question with the information provided in the complaint.
I do want to address and resolve [redacted]’s concerns, please have her provide any additional information she can including but not...

limited to: (A) Creditor Owed (B) Full reporting information number, (C) Creditor Account number. (D) Last Date reported to creditr Bureau.
Once this information is received, I will fully investigate and provide an answer for [redacted].
If [redacted] can contact Thomas P[redacted] directly toll free ###-###-#### or email him at tom.p[redacted]@penncreditcom with the information to expedite the investigation.

After researching the phone number [redacted] we are not showing any calls made by Penn Credit after we were notified it was a wrong phone number on May 27, 2014.

Penn Credit uses outside vendors to aid us in locating contact numbers for consumers, so it is possible a vendor has provided the phone number to more than one company.
