Review: I have requested that this company provide proof of the small amount being collected. I believe it is in error. They were unresponsive to multiple requests. I even offered to pay the debt (without in any way agreeing that it is correct) in the hopes that they would respond and quickly remove the incorrect information reported to my credit report.Desired Settlement: I request that they remove the derogatory information from my credit statement immediately.

Response:

The credit report simply lists the name of this company as the contact for alleged debt of $187. I have no further information. If this was added to my account in error, and no account actually exists, please kindly remove it immediately and I will be happy to consider this matter resolved.

Review: PennCredit sent me a notice of Collection demanding money in regards to a delinquent account. Account being: State of MD Taxes.. Tax Period of 01/01/2012... with a Balance of $616.94

No itemized or explanation of what these charges are.

The person on the phone at PennCredit just insisted on me paying the balance. I refused, and contacted the State of Maryland and I am in good standing with NO BALANCE, and received refunds the past two years from the state of Maryland.

This is a scam!!!!!!!!!!!

The State of Maryland said they do not use collections agencies to get funds owed. They directly reach out to the taxpayer.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM AS IT IS NOT A REAL NOTICE OF COLLECTION!Desired Settlement: Please go after this company as it is sending out false notice of collections to receive money from individuals.

Re: [redacted]'s Violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act

This fetter is a formal complaint that Penn Credit has failed to comply with the precedents set by the case of Chase v Nelson Manhattan and in turn are in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that a data furnisher report only 100% accurate account information. Nelson v Chase Manhattan requires a data furnisher to update all credit bureaus with the same information.

I have been in the process of disputing this account with the credit bureaus. This account was delete from one of the credit bureaus, but this data furnisher continues to report this account inaccurately with the other credit bureaus. This data furnisher has failed to comply with Nelson V Chase Manhattan and the FCRA regulations by refusing to delete the disputed account with the remaining credit bureaus.

I have already provided this data furnisher several opportunities to comply with my requests but they continue to do nothing and report this account inaccurately. They continue to willfully violate the FCRA as they are receiving my requests,, yet they do nothing. This must stop and this account must be removed with all credit bureaus!

I have included copies of all the communication I have mailed this data furnisher, as well as all responses they have provided me. Please take the time to review my requests. You will see that all of my requests have been made pursuant to the FCRA and I have provided more than the legally required time to complete.

I need your company to enforce the regulations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and require this company to delete this account with all credit bureaus. Enforce these regulations and show their offices that the FCRA does mean something and that they cannot continue to operate oniy in the interest of money and without penalty.

Credit reports and those credit scores derived from these reports are paramount to life as an American citizen. Anything and everything that we do is related around my credit report and credit score. This is a serious request to investigate this company and the policies and procedures they use to report accounts on a consumers credit report as there is obviously suspect practices in place.

The credit bureaus must be held liable for their willful violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. They cannot be continued to operate with such illegal and unethical practices. Your offices must step in and uphold the laws of the FCRA and demand the immediate removal of this account from all credit repositories.

Penn Credit [redacted]

What good do the rules, regulations and punishments of the Fair Credit Reporting Act do if they are not enforced? I have exhausted my patient and now need your assistance, as I have no other options.

Kind Regards,Desired Settlement: Please see attached.

Review: On July 25, 2014 I placed a call to this business regarding a collection account that was showing om my credit report that I had no idea existed. I initially spoke with a representative and explained the situation and that I would be willing to pay the small balance owed immediately and would like to have the account removed from the credit bureaus since I had no knowledge of this bill. This representative proceeded tell me that there is no way to remove the account from the credit bureau because it is against the law. That statement is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I called back later in the day and asked to speak to the manager on duty. I was transferred to a gentleman and I explained the situation to him and how I was ready to pay the account in full that day and how I would like to have the account removed from my credit bureau. He also stated to me that there was no way to remove the account because it was against the law. Once again, this statement is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.Desired Settlement: I want to pay the amount in full and have it removed from my credit bureau since there was no notification from the original creditor about the debt. I believe that since it was a medical collection that it was just sent to this collection agency to collect from the start.

Business

Response:

Penn Credit reviewed and investigated the complaint.

In the process of the investigation the original creditor was contacted and

stated that four (4) statements were sent to the consumer concerning the bill

and none were returned. The statement dates were 8/22/2013, 9/23/2013,

10/23/2013 and 11/22/2013.

As a credit

reporting agency Penn Credit must report actual information and pursuant the

FCRA we can’t delete negative reporting with a promise of payment for removal.

If [redacted] can provide additonal information outlining a legitimate dispute

I would be able to remove the tradeline.

If [redacted] has any additional questions or

concerns please have him contact Thomas P[redacted] directly at [redacted] or

email him at [redacted].

Also, I would like to state that Penn Credit's claim that pursuant to the FCRA, they cannot delete a record from the credit report in return for payment or a promise of payment is in fact A VIOLATION OF THE FCRA IN AND OF ITSELF, and therefore subject to FINES AND SANCTIONS UP TO, AND INCLUDING SHUTTING DOWN THEIR BUSINESS. Based on this violation, I would like to request an immediate removal and deletion of the collection account from my credit report.

Review: This collection agency is attempting to collect money from a person who I do not know and possibly had me phone number at some time in the past. The agency has called numerous times; many in a harassing nature where they just hang up once the phone is answered. On the few times the company stays on the line it is a robo call with no ability to punch through to a live person. I have been able to talk with a live person twice and attempted to explain that the party they are looking for is unknown by us.Desired Settlement: I would love the calls to stop. By way of this complaint I certify that I do not know the party they are attempting to collect from nor do I have any knowledge of the debt they are attempting to collect. I have owned this phone number for only 6 months. Maybe Penn will listen to you. My next stop is to record the 3-4 x per week calls and enlist the SEC.

When I lookup this number it says Penn Credit..I don't know who this company is nor have I received anything through postal mail about a debt owed. Review: Our son sustained a broken nose and visited the [redacted] Hospital emergency room for treatment in April 2013. He provided copies of our TWO insurance plan cards, both with the SAME INSURER, to the triage person. Somehow an error occured between [redacted] Hospital and [redacted] . Penn Credit Corporation was given the responsibility of collecting this debt. However, they REPEATEDLY get the insurance information wrong. They have contacted us on THREE different occasions and have REPEATEDLY pestered our son with incessant phone calls. Our son is a full-time student in [redacted] and explains the same information to Penn Credit as we do. We explain, over and over, that we have DOUBLE INSURANCE and that someone on their end has made an error . We provide the insurance information again and it seems as if the issue is finally resolved until...they call again. And again. This issue could be easily rectified if more careful attention to detail is paid to the insurance information when it is given. We have contacted the [redacted] Hospital billing department directly but they stated that once the issue is given to collection, they do not have any control. This is a non-problem, if only Penn Credit could keep the insurance information straight.Desired Settlement: I would like the insurance information submitted correctly so that the [redacted] Hospital gets its rightful payment for medical treatment rendered. Stop harrassing and start doing your job correctly, Penn Credit.

Review: I have a collection, account number [redacted], that is appearing on my credit report from Penn Credit Corp. This bill was paid years ago. Because I am an active-duty service member and need to move frequently, I often have credit checks when moving into a new home. This account hurts my credit rating and makes my moves more difficult. I have been trying to contact Penn Credit Corp about this for months. Over the past 3 months, I have sent mail and faxes politely asking Penn Credit to remove this account from my credit reports or to contact me. Although I am currently stationed overseas and my main phone number is international, I have also given this company my mailing address and my email address. Penn Credit Corp will not respond to me in any way and seems to ignore my letters.Desired Settlement: I would like this collection account removed from my Equifax, Experian, and Transunion credit reprots.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I’m writing you today as a American Soldier who has re-paid his debts after struggling with a job loss in 2008. I am asking for a goodwill removal of this paid account as it will greatly help my family in purchasing a home.

This is my second contact regarding this bill. In my first contact, I requested all records of this bill be removed from my credit reports with the major credit reporting agencies. The response I received was that the law did not allow the removal, as you have to report accurately. While you do have to report accurately, the law also provides that you don’t have to report at all. In fact, Section 623.a.7.e of the FCRA states that you, as the collection agency, do in fact have the authority to remove negative, yet accurate, information from a credit file if you choose. The FCRA just requires any information that you do report to be accurate.

I’m requesting all record of this debt to be removed from the major credit reporting agencies, including Transunion, Equifax, and Experian. I understand that you are under no obligation to do so, however, the amount of this electric bill (which has been paid) does not equal the amount that this account is affecting my credit. My wife and I are planning on purchasing our first home next year for our family, and the leaving this debt on my credit report could cost us thousands of dollars in interest. I’m hoping that you will understand why I want this item removed, and can show a little kind heartedness for a military family from Pennsylvania.

Thank you for your time looking into this matter. I hope we can come to a mutual understanding.

I am rejecting this response because:

The reporting of this collection is inaccurate with all three CRAs.

Review: Penn Credit calls my business repeatedly, and hangs up when we answer. They waste the time of my staff and they cost me money when they hit my answering service. I don't know why they are calling or who they are calling for because they hang up every time we answer. I asked a lady named Nicole to remove us from the list. After that, she changed her name to Betty, which weirded me out, so I asked for a supervisor. I then spoke with a lady who I was told was a supervisor. Her name was Mary. I explained to her that they are calling in to our phone bank and we have dozens of numbers, so I would start with the most common and work my way back. After about three numbers, she started claiming I was doing it wrong and we should have one main number and all the other numbers should come off of that. I told her that in fact, our situation was the opposite. We have dozens of numbers, most of which we have had for years, and they go back to one central number. I asked her if we could focus on removing us from the database. She said she didn't like my attitude and she didn't have to remove us from the database because she is a collection agency and we are a business. I explained to her that she is quite wrong and if a business requests you remove them from your calling for someone, unless it is their debt, you do have to remove them. She then said she didn't like my attitude and she refused to work to remove us from the calling list anymore and hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I would like Penn Credit to apologize. I would like Penn Credit's assurances that they are following both the federal laws as well as the Texas State laws (where I am at) that govern their actions. I would also like their assurances that they will counsel Mary on the proper way to handle their calls. And, I would like our business removed from their calling list,.

I was able to locate both calls on 10/13/2014 in

reference to Penn Credit contacting an incorrect phone number. In reviewing the first call our agent never

identifies herself as Nicole. She does

transfer the call to a manager who attempts to help [redacted] by

requesting all the possible phone numbers we could be calling to see if we can

locate the phone number in question and remove it from our database.

I have checked our database for the phone number on the complaint

as well as the phone number [redacted] called into our office on

10/13/2014.

Penn Credit recently received a phone call from a police

department located in Arizona that our toll free phone number was showing up on

a consumer’s caller id, after they

investigated the situation they notified us that another company could be using our phone number to hide where

they actually calling from.

This practice is called “caller

ID spoofing”

PER

the Federal Communications Commission: Caller ID service is susceptible to

fraud. Using a practice known as "caller ID spoofing”, where callers can

deliberately falsify the telephone number and/or name relayed as the Caller ID

identity thieves who want to collect sensitive information such as your bank

account or other financial account numbers, your social security number, your

date of birth or your mother's maiden name, sometimes use caller ID spoofing to

Response:

This response is very misleading. I spoke with Mary and after checking several of our dozens of numbers, Mary announced that we didn't have our phone set up the way she thinks it should be. She felt that we should have one main number with multiple numbers as extensions. I told her our phones are actually the reverse and we have many numbers that all flow into one for marketing purposes. She then threw a fit and hung up on me. She told me that as a collection agency, they didn't have to honor my request to be removed from their calling list. I did call in a few days later after MORE calls and spoke with a lady who did remove me from the list. I also spoke with Mary's boss, who assured me he would counsel her. But, the response from this company to the Revdex.com is not honest because it implies Mary helped me and she didn't. It took more action on my part before someone else was professional. The response also implies someone else is calling me, and if they are, they aren't representing themselves as this company because our phone system tracks and records everything. There is nothing further to do because they have removed us from the list, finally. But, I did want to dispute it to make it clear to the Revdex.com that this response is not truthful and deceptive, which is concerning.

Review: I had an account with a balance of $1.80. I called trying to have the debt paid but they informed me that they cannot take payments of less than $5.00 over the phone. They would not budge. Demanded that the debt must still be paid. Advised me that I needed to pay for overnighting the payment in order for it to get processed. My friend came on the phone and ended up paying the $1.80 debt after being transferred to 3 different supervisors. But after charging a processing fee, the $1.80 debt turned into $9.79.
