Penn Credit Corporation Reviews (497)

Review: This company has been calling my home phone number for the last 3 years at [redacted]. I, nor have any of my relatives ever done business with them. I reported this matter to the company directly, via their website and was told that my number had been removed this spring. The calling stopped for a month and has been repeated on a daily basis since April 2013, once again. I notified the attorney general of PA and was told in writing per them and Penn Credit that this issue was resolved. It has not been resolved. I intend to proceed with legal action.Desired Settlement: Stop contacting me and pay me for pain and suffering

Review: I received a call from the above company saying I owe $64.00 due to something that happened on Sept. 15, 2012,but they would not tell me why I owed the money. I am hard of hearing, and told the agent that I was handing the call over to my son. The man gave my son a hard time, saying "I was not informed that the call was handed over to another person." The man gave a licence plate number that he said was involved, but again would not or could not tell me why the money was owed. The more I asked him about this, the more evasive he became. He was not co-operative.Desired Settlement: I would like to know if this is a scam, and how it an resolved. I want to know why, and to whom I allegedly owe $64.

Review: Today is Sunday afternoon 17:00 hours. I received a phone call from this collection company trying to secure a debt. They do not even know if they have the right number. It is the wrong number but they keep calling my home. No one by the name of [redacted] lives at this residence. I am tiered of receiving threatening phone calls in order to collect a debt. They need to check first who they are calling and see if it is the right number. Please file a complaint with this company as this is an ongoing issue and is calling on Sunday afternoon. I thought this was against the law.Desired Settlement: An email with an apology will be fine and please take me off the call list. Phone number ###-###-####

Review: I received a notice and phone call from Penn Credit about a bill from [redacted] that had been turned over to them for collections. I disputed this bill with [redacted] a year ago and they said they would take care of this account and cancel it . Never heard anything else from them. Now all of a sudden I'm receving phone calls and a letter today from Penn Credit about collecting 47.94 for this bill. I'm not paying for something I didn't order or receive. This company is running some kind of scam.Desired Settlement: This is not my bill so they should stop contacting me.

Review: Penn Credit uses an automated collection service. They routinely contact my home phone outside of normal business hours in an effort to contact a person that I do not know. The automated service does not provide an option to indicate the call is to a wrong number. There also is not an option to speak to a person to resolve the issue, or ask that your number be removed. When I call the number from the message, I always receive a message to call back some other time - business hours are not stated. This has persisted for months.Desired Settlement: Automated collection services should be required to connect to a person for additional information or to let them know a wrong number is being called. The service could also provide an option to do this automatically. If a wrong number is indicated, the automated calls should cease to that number.

Review: This company is listed on my credit report and I tried to clear up the matter. During the conversation I was hung up on twice (they said the calls were being recorded but refused to listen to the calls and were VERY rude). After calling back three times, different "supervisors" refused to give their full names, claimed that a single name was their entire name ( [redacted] was her full name) and refused to give information. They are clearly listed on my credit report, but claimed I was not a client of theirs and could not give me any other information. I have filed a dispute with the credit agencies, but this should NOT be allowed if they are clearly listed on my credit report and bringing my credit score down. These representatives were rude, unhelpful and refused to give me any information NOR a letter on their letterhead that states I am not a client of theirs. How is this fair to a consumer?Desired Settlement: I am requesting a letter on their letter head stating that I am not a client of theirs nor do I owe them any money sent to me as well as my bank. I also want their information removed from my credit report immediately. If I had not looked into this matter, they would have remained on my credit history claiming I owe them money, but they claim they have no listing of me.

Review: I called to resolve a bill of mine that has hit collections. I spoke with an agent who told me what they would settle for. I told him that I was unable to make that payment and what I was able to pay. He then tried to tell me that I could afford it and that I was basically incompetent. He tried to tell me that I was just trying to beat the system. I really want to clear this off of my credit report which is why I attempted to call and I was also going to attempt and get some more money from family to cover it but after speaking with him, I could no longer stay on the phone.Desired Settlement: I want a manager to call me and let me know if this is normal practice. For their employees to degrade people in not so great situations and make them feel small. I want to also speak to someone who will talk to me and not try and tell me how to handle my money so that I can get this collection resolved.

Review: I have received several phone calls from this company leaving a specific call back number. When I called the number the first 2 times I received a voice recording stating I needed to call back during normal business hours. When I called back during normal business hours the number was disconnected. I am informed I have an "outstanding debt" but when specific details are requested none are provided, i.e. itemized bill, hospital bill, etc. This company has asked for me under a former name I have not used since 2008. This company also has yet to send me a written collections notice for my review.Desired Settlement: Send a bill and stop contacting me. Once the bill is received I will contact the party requesting payment, i.e., hospital, etc. I do not currently have any outstanding bills, I pay every one of them as soon as they arrive.

Review: On 2/22/14, I received mail from PennCredit stating that I owe $258.30 for a traffic violation in 2008! First of all I paid this traffic ticket to [redacted] County Clerk of Court in 2008. If I didn't, they would have suspended my license! I even took the safe driving course to ensure that I did not receive points on my license. Since 2008 I have not heard one thing from [redacted] County, not one phone call or letter stating that I had a debt. Now, in 2014 I receive this letter notification tell me to pay a debt collector in PA? This debt collection is completely false. I just pulled my credit report and this is not on there. Like I said before I paid this traffic ticket in 2008. This is unlawful and that is why Im filing a complaint. I want them to stop sending me false debt collection notices. I DON'T OWE ANY MONEY.Desired Settlement: Do not try and put this on my credit report or I will be contacting an attorney. Get your fact straight before you start trying to collect a debt from 5 years ago that was paid 5 years ago! DO your homework and clear this up yourself and stop contacting me.

I did answer a call in April 2013, and pressed #1 as instructed, was redirected to an unknown woman. The name of company was not provided upon my verbal request. This woman demanded that I state my name, I refused. I asked whom they were trying to reach at my number, at area code ###-###-####. The woman refused to give the name of person they wanted. The woman stated that " it was unlawful for me not to give her my name and that they could start court proceedings against me as a result". I replied "Then we will let the judge handle this matter in court, won't we". She responded " I need to verify your mailing address". I just started laughing at her. Then I stated " DO NOT CALL MY NUMBER AGAIN & REMOVE IT FROM THEIR MAILING LIST", I then ended the call. The calls stopped in May 2013, then began again Sept. 2013 up to the present date.

This business is unknown to me and I have made no purchases by credit, to any business in excess of 4+ years. I pay cash.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop calling my home and leaving these automated messages.

Penn Credit is a third party collection contacted to do collections for [redacted]. Our client placed an outstanding account in our office for collection on October 22, 2012 in the amount of $50.41 for the money machine that was ordered on May 23, 2011. The required validation notice was mailed on November 25, 2012.

We have been attempting to reach [redacted]. [redacted] at the phone number ###-###-#### in an attempt to discuss the account in our office, however the message on her machine and the phone number she lists ###-###-#### is not our phone number. I attempted to contact the phone number today and it is disconnected.

If [redacted]. [redacted] would like to discuss the account in her office she can contact me directly at toll free ###-###-####.

Thank you for your assistance in the resolution of this matter

Review: This company has solicited collection for an account that has been closed for over a year. They claim that I need to pay this collection in order to reinstate my driver license in the state of Florida. I currently have a valid license in the state and no collection is legally stopping me from renewing. I hired a lawyer last year to petition the court to drop my fines and they did. I have tried to call Penn Credit multiple times and all get an "all lines are busy response."Desired Settlement: I would like a written apology stating that they were mistaken in pursuing this collection and that they will no longer contact me regarding this matter. I would also like any adverse credit reporting removed immediately; also in writing.

Review: An unpaid bill from my doctor was turned into Penn Credit. They never notified me that this bill was going to be turned into the credit bureaus almost immediately. As soon as I realized the bill was turned in to collection I paid the bill immediately. Now however they will not remove this from my credit record and the amount was only one hundred and three dollars. It is the only negative blemish on my credit report but it has dropped my credit score by almost 100 points. In addition everybody I talked to at Penn Credit was obnoxious and very rude. I want this removed from my credit report immediately.Desired Settlement: I want the Penn Credit collection removed from all of my credit bureau accounts immediately.

Review: The collection company's 800 number has been REPEATEDLY calling our home & asking for someone who does not live here. The calls are automated and do not identify the name of the agency. They constitute harassment. There is no identifying company on the caller id. This is unacceptable. The calls come at all times. This company has unethical practices and is harrassing people for debt collection who do NOT owe debt and are not the people that they are seeking. How did they get my number???? This company should be fined.Desired Settlement: A fine for the company
