I am rejecting this response because: I did not receive any notice that told me that I would be automatically enrolled in a "automatic payment" using my card information at $24.95 per month. If I did, this information was put in small print in a huge "agreement" that no one would take the time to read. Why would ANYONE agree to pay $24.95 for looking up an address of a family member that lives out of state? The fact that their voice recording steers you to an automated response to cancel memberships is a dead give away that they are preying on people who accept the "discounted" rate for an address look up but then intent to gouge them with automatic "membership renewals" at $24.95 per month. If this was a ligitimate business practice, they would just bill you $5 (for example) for the address look up and not require you to enroll in a "automatic renewal subscription". They clearly make their money providing an address and then hope to prey on unsuspecting victims that allow the 3 day grace period to expire and then they slam them with a "nonrefundable" $25 charge.

the time of purchase on 4/15/2015 you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Membership. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:•People Searches – Get the facts you need to find anyone, anywhere•Email Searches – Obtain email addresses, or learn about the owner of any address•Marriage Searches – Find out if a man or woman has ever been married•Divorce Searches – Check the divorce status of any man or woman•Property Searches – Learn about any piece of property, including the current owner and valueThe trial membership and automatic renewal is mentioned, in standard text, on each page of checkout. You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone. We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Given that members can conduct unlimited searches and other services for a monthly fee, the Terms do not allow for refunds and simply allow users to cancel at anytime to avoid further billing. As you stated in this complaint, per your online request on 5/13/2015 we granted one refund for the most current month of membership as a one-time courtesy. You mentioned on this complaint that you have filed a dispute with your credit card company. Often, due to the dispute, you are given a conditional refund by your bank. We recommend informing your credit card company of the refund we have granted as if we do in fact recieve a dispute for the refunded charge, we would be forced to negate our refund.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Yes I have heard back from the company and they put back on my credit card $29.95
Although PeopleFinders provides public records, we do not create or modify them in any way. We are only able to display the most current information provided in each record, so we cannot guarantee their accuracy. New public records are created every day, so PeopleFinders is always able to...
offer the most up-to-date and accurate information possible; however, this information must be publicly reported by the person. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or our other policies. The free courtesy search will remain on your account until it is used. You may elect to have that free exchange search ran at any time by calling our Customer Care department.
Response: We do offer two different options. Before check out the customer is also able to view if they signed up for the membership or not. We have attached a sample search on our website. The customer types in a name to search, then when they go to the product page they can select to purchase the “Report Only” or the “Report+Trial” . Please note if they select the report with trial, they then have 3 days to cancel the trial so that they do not get billed the monthly fee. Before check out, the customer also clicks a box to agree to the Terms of Use which again re-iterate the trial period and state that our searches and memberships are not refundable.
We have reviewed our account and found that an order for a search was placed by you on 11/4/2014. At that time you were given the option of choosing between three products. These were labeled "1 Month of UNLIMITED Reports $19.95/mo ($19.95 Today)" "3 Months of UNLIMITED...
Reports $12.95/mo ($38.95 Today)" and "6 Months of UNLIMITED Reports $9.95/mo ($59.70 Today)." Our records show you selected the 1 Month Membership for $19.95 per month and proceeded through checkout. You were required to affirmatively check a box that states "I also understand that my card will be automatically billed monthly until I cancel." Therefore, you were billed $19.95 per month. You failed to contact us to cancel for four months. Per your request on 3/26/2015 we cancelled the membership. The representative then offered you a refund of the most current month at $19.95 as a courtesy. You declined the refund the representative had offered and ended the call. Directly after this call, you logged into the account online and closed it completely via the Account Manager. Since this would restrict your access to the membership, the system automatically granted a $19.95 refund for the most current month of membership. You should have seen this refund reflect on your personal account in the next few business days. Given that members have the ability to run unlimited searches and other features for a monthly fee, our Terms do not allow for refunds but simply allow users to cancel anytime to avoid further billing. There are no further courtesy refunds available on your account. In conclusion, you have been granted one refund of $19.95, your account is closed and there will be no further automatic billing.
I am rejecting this response because:
t is unethical. The rich p
ks steal, then hide behind their underpaid clerks who have to deal with customers' anger. The customer service girls were actually quite terrible in their own way. You should reach the cowardly white p
ks who are profitting from their crappy buisness tactics.
Dear [redacted],
It is not enough that People Finders restored to me the money they stole from me.
Their entire way of doing buisness with small print white man b
What about all of my brothers and sisters who pay $1.95 for a phone number - which in itself is expensive! - and then are charged $24.95 each month for nothing!? That's a very dirty, nasty, slimy way of doing buisness. Of course, they will continue they have no morals.
You'd be saving a lot of people a lot of trouble if you would not allow such shabby treatment of customers!
Thank you,
Sincerely,
[redacted]

behalf, not to return a specific result. Prior to purchase, the search preview states "report includes available information on..." As a one-time courtesy we will issue a refund for $6.95. This amount will be shown on your credit card statement within five business days. Please review the Terms of Use you agreed to on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.
The customer called on 09/20 and we have already issued a refund for $24.95

The customer signed up for a trial membership at the time of their initial purchase. The membership is canceled, there will be no further billings. We have refunded them 2 charges of $29.95 each. The customer was also assisted when they called our customer care department.
We are unable to locate an account under the information provided in the complaint. Our website does not offer Death Certificates. We offer death searches only. The customer is paying to search our data base for the information not an actual Death Certificate.
I am rejecting this response because: It is FALSE INFORMATION, as in all 400 other complaints that are the same as mine according to the Revdex.com website. I asked for an UNLIMITED TRIAL MEMBERSHIP for $2.95 for 3 DAYS. However, I didn't need 3 days to decide, I quickly determined that all of the information found on this website was public knowledge and I could find this information anywhere online FOR FREE. I searched multiple reports because I was trying to use the person's name backward and forward, with initials and without.....because this site was simply NOT finding the criminal information that I KNOW IS THERE. It was all done during the first hour of my UNLIMITED TRIAL, WHICH I PAID FOR. If they do not want people searching multiple reports in their trial memberships, then they need to put a limit on the number of searches BEFORE the customer joins....no where does it say that I can only order X amount of information during my trial. ANYWAY.... I cancelled the membership within ONE HOUR on August 16, the same day I signed up for the TRIAL and paid the $2.95. Plus I paid on 3 more charges for various attempts to get information, but to no avail. After I requested to cancel my account on August 16, I assumed I was done with this fraudulent company. But on August 21, I was charged $29.95 without any knowledge of still having an open account. It is very misleading and they purposefully try to make it difficult to cancel, so that when you believe that you have done what is asked of you, there is more that you do not know about, which is how they have fraudulently charged millions of people. Unfortunately, only 400 of those took the time to file a formal complaint. This place is nothing but a fraud. The CEO, [redacted] has a lengthy criminal background and has been married 13 times, and only 9 divorces. Why cant this company do their own searches instead of redirecting everyone to BeenVerified, Ancestry.com, and Genealogy.com, etc.....because they are a FRAUD, and I never said I wanted to keep my membership, I did what I thought I was supposed to do to CANCEL my account. How can one know that they set up 2 or more accounts for one person? FRAUD. I want only the $29.95 back because you stole that from me. (and at least 400 others)
I am rejecting this response because:I paid for a product that did not yield results. Their customer service representative mistreated me.
We are unable to locate under the email or the customers name. Please provided the email address that was used to open the account.
Our records show you have already been assisted with this matter. Per the supervisor call on 11/3/2014 at 4:27pm you were refunded two charges of $24.95 as a onetime courtesy. Your account with PeopleFinders.com is closed.

My account is [redacted] [redacted]1 or #[redacted] [redacted] email: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The receipt provided by peoplefinders.com (attached) did not show or inform me that I had committed to an on-going agreement for $29.95 per month. I was never provided an agreement that I executed. What they mentioned must have been buried in their fine print.Yes, I have instructed my credit card company to dispute these charges, but that has no bearing on this complaint. Why would it take Peoplefinders.com several billing cycles as you mentioned in your response, to resolve this minor issue. There should be no delay in resolving this complaint.Thank You.
I am rejecting this response...
because:Within the 3 day trial period I cancelled on line as they directed. After continuing to be billed I called the customer service line where it directed me to cancel on line. After discovering I was still being billed for the account I called again and was directed again to the website where I followed closely their directions to cancel on line. The next month I was billed again and then called my credit card company to stop payment. I then received an email to contact the customer service representative and when I called and spoke to [redacted] she stated that she could see that I didn't use the product but could only credit me a portion of the monthly payments and that I would have to go to her supervisor to get credit on the rest. After several days I was able to get in touch with her supervisor, [redacted] I believe, who was very rude and stated that she agreed that she could see that I did not use the product but refused to credit me the entire amount. This is obviously a company with unethical billing procedures who trap customers into a forced billing and state that they never canceled on line - I guess my cancelation was lost in the black hole of the internet. Not until I called my credit card company did I get any response/cancelation!!!
I am rejecting this response because: [redacted] is an out and out LIAR. When I contacted PeopleFinders the first week of June, whoever I spoke to on the phone is the person that told me that she could see that I had cancelled in January. I am disgusted that [redacted] is lying. I don't have any concrete proof to show you that I cancelled back then, I just have the information that was given to me by Customer Service at People Finders the first week of June. [redacted] should be ashamed of herself. To the Revdex.com, I thank you for your time in trying to help me resolve this matter. PeopleFinders is a scam and [redacted] proved it!
