Review: This site did not give detailed information! If you're looking for the obvious like addresses and family members that's all that it gives! I paid 20+$'s for that?! UHM! NO! I was looking for detailed information like criminal and it gave NOTHING! When I knew there should have been something! And it's not there! I was scammed out of money! And lied to! PeopleFinders is a leading Data-as-a-Service ("DaaS") provider for consumers and businesses seeking detailed insights on people, places and things in the United States. As one of the largest owners of public records data in the U.S., (Above) is what I was looking for! Detailed information!And I got nothing!!! They created my account and deleted it the same day, they should be able to pull up their records and find it. If they don't that also shows poor management on their end of doing business. I also looked at the reviews which I should had done first and I'm just like the other hundreds of un satisfied customers so they sure aren't doing something right "people finders " they can't even find my account in their own system!!

This business is a rip off! They have a confusing web site that charges your CC with an accidental charge due to the wording of services. They refuse to refund the charges even though I called Customer Service immediately after the charge! Do not do business with this company!

I spoke with three different agents and supervisors at Peoplesfinder.com seeking a refund and they refused.

On April 13, I went on line to search for the telephone number of a family friend whose wife had recently died. The site offered me a 95cent purchase or a 1.95 purchase for a phone number. I chose the 95 cent purchase and provided my credit card information. I have not used this site since April 13, 2013.

I am 65 years old, unemployed, dealing with cancer, and do not need to be scammed by an unscrupulous company in Sacremento.

I learned to day that Peoplesfinder automatically charged my account "membership dues" of $24.95 on each of Apr 17, May 18, and Jun 18.

I called and went through two agents up to a supervisor who all said they would refund only the last month billed even though I had never used the service, did not know I had signed up for the service, and had no intent to obtain such service. My intent was to obtain one phone number for a deceased friend for 95 cents, not for $75 plus. They were rude and blamed me for signing up for this service... They stated I should have known the discounted 95cent fee included a monthly membership with automatic billing. The supervisor I spoke with was [redacted] (id number XXXXXX)

I have disputed this charge with my credit card company.

I seek your assistance in obtaining my never used and never aware "membership" fees and to register a complaint against this company.

The customer has a choice to accept a special discounted price available with a monthly membership or the full price for the search without membership. If a customer does not wish to enroll in membership they may choose the full price for one report. The membership provides a three day trial to try our services. Our membership service provides unlimited searches and other features for a monthly fee. This is clearly and conspicuously disclosed on the initial order selection page. Then the consumer is provided with an entire page outlining the terms of the membership which clearly and conspicuously states that after the initial trial, unless the consumer cancels the service the service will continue monthly and the card they provided will be charged until they tell us to cancel their membership to avoid future charges. The membership is mentioned no less than three times on three pages before the order is complete.

Given that members can conduct unlimited searches for a monthly membership fee our terms do not allow for any refunds and simply allow members to cancel anytime to avoid future charges. For the period of her membership the customer will be charged each month. During that time, our customer service is available to take the cancellation at any time.

Peoples finder website is deceptive. No reasonable person would "subscribe" to a $24.95 monthly "membership" to seek out one phone number. I obtained one phone number and ended up with three monthly bills of $24.95. Peoplefinder.com refused to refund this amount even though I never used the service except for the one obtained phone number which I thought was a fee of 95cents. I went through three layers of customer service which was unfriendly and rude refusing to refund the three months of membership I did not use and was unaware I had "purchased" on their site. I suggest all avoid this company and if they are similarly scammed, file complaints with credit card company and Revdex.com of Sacramento CA.

I am rejecting this response because: I have to reply to this proposed resolution in order to avoid having the complaint closed out but the business needs 2-5 business days to resolve the issue. Please allow them the time they request, though I hope it's 2 days and not 5. Once the page no longer appears on the web and is removed from the search engine indexes, along with any other advertising campaigns they're using my name and/or personal information for, I will agree to accept their response.

What a scam! I signed on to get a background report. Paid $19.95 thinking I had a 7-day free trial and would not be charged if I cancelled in 7 days. I looked at my credit card charges 5 days later and there was the $19.95 charge plus a charge for $29.95 4 days later. The "report" they provided the first day was totally worthless information. When I called within 5 days to cancel they said it was only a 3-day trial period; that the $19.95 was for the first report I received and since I didn't cancel within 3 days they charged the$29.95 for a membership, however, they were not able to locate my email account in their records and refused to refund anything. Also, when I went back into the website to re-try using it to get any kind of legitimate report I got a pop-up message saying, "Oops!It looks like you don't have an account!" Really? The girl I spoke to was very rude and when she said they probably could refund anything I said I would go through my credit card company, which I did. My credit card company reversed all the charges and disputed the the claim and also blocked them from any future charges to my card.

Review: I was searching for a cousin's address just before Christmas and was not finding it.A pop up called "peoplefinders" came up offering to find the address I was looking for. I am rejecting this response because: I did not receive any notice that told me that I would be automatically enrolled in a "automatic payment" using my card information at $24.95 per month. If I did, this information was put in small print in a huge "agreement" that no one would take the time to read. Why would ANYONE agree to pay $24.95 for looking up an address of a family member that lives out of state? The fact that their voice recording steers you to an automated response to cancel memberships is a dead give away that they are preying on people who accept the "discounted" rate for an address look up but then intent to gouge them with automatic "membership renewals" at $24.95 per month. If this was a ligitimate business practice, they would just bill you $5 (for example) for the address look up and not require you to enroll in a "automatic renewal subscription". They clearly make their money providing an address and then hope to prey on unsuspecting victims that allow the 3 day grace period to expire and then they slam them with a "nonrefundable" $25 charge.

Review: I called to speak to someone about multiple charges to my debit card. Upon inquiring about said charges, I was then treated to a lot of huffing, puffing, yelling and screaming. I was led to believe that I did not have any right to inquire about these charges. The first woman I spoke to refused to allow me to speak to her manager and hung up on me without any good reason. I was not rude to her in any way I was simply concerned about the privacy of my account. I then called again and received a new employee. She was telling me that I'm not the only one who had these issues and its my responsibility to take care of it on my own. What sense does that make? Not only do companies like this put your information online without your consent AND charge a fee for it, they are also not willing to accept responsibility for any financial errors on their part. So, after then asking her to speak to her boss, I was told that she didn't have a boss. She called me all sorts or horrible names and also proceeded to hang up on me again. When I tried to call back, they blocked my telephone number. America still has laws that corporations must abide by. I also was not transferred to any voicemail as the agent blocked my number therefore preventing the call from continuing. Of course I would expect people finders to lie. Moreover, that lack of professionalism and service in itself is proof of the poor reputation that this company has.Peoplefinders is NOT a public utility and therefore is also required to maintain proper policies about privacy. Many lawsuits have been filed against companies such as this due to the misuse of people's names and addresses as well as credit card information. Liabilities do lie with businesses who dispense information for profit as you do not know what the motive or intentions are for the consumer of said information. There is never an excuse for a representative to be rude or bossy when dealing with a customers concerns.

Review: Used the site to locate old friends. Advertizement was $19.95 for three days of access. I canceled after two days. Two days after that they charged my card another $2.95 without my permission or knowelege. When I spoke to a customer Service rep. Review: Ordered a search on a particular person on Sept. 10, 2014. Immediately followed website instructions to cancel the automatic membership. Contacted Peoplefinders, they say they have no record of cancellation. Did not receive any emails from them upon ordering or upon cancellation - all search results were displayed online and not emailed to me. They have fraudulently charged my credit card 3 times for $29.95 since then, in addition to the $19.95 that I agreed to for the report that I ordered. Review: I was trying to do a background check for our church. I was misled by advertising on a we page stating $9.95 for 6 months. It ended up being 9.95 per month, so I was charged $59.60. When I called, the agent I spoke to was great. He refunded me before I hung up and I purchased the recommended package for $19.95. I tried to find the background report I was looking for. This particular system could not locate the person I needed. I called seeking help. The agent I spoke to was [redacted], agent # [redacted]9. [redacted] informed me she could "not magically make it appear" and further she repeated about 6 times although I can't find the report I need, nor can she, that I cannot receive a refund because I already received one today. After she treated me like I was inadequate, I asked to speak to a supervisor, hoping to resolve the situation. She transferred me to a voicemail. It's clear they get a lot of complaints and do not have proper resources in place to handle. All I wanted was the record I needed, or a refund. I was courteous and polite.Please be sure they do not do this to others.Desired Settlement: A refund. I spent several hours working with them on this and based on their unwillingness to work with me, I made contact elsewhere and got what I needed in ten minutes.

Review: This company is a total scam. They have charged my credit card for $99.80. I thought I was paying just .95 cents as that what was advertised. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:

You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone.

We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this 3 day trial. The trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee of $24.95 on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Per your request over the phone on 10/8/2014, and as a courtesy, we granted one refund of $24.95 for the most current month of membership.

Per this complaint we will grant one additional refund of $24.95. Please allow 2-5 business days for these refunds to process back into your credit or debit card.

The monthly charge of $24.99 is for PeopleFinders Rewards program. The PeopleFinders Rewards program allows you to receive discounted prices on the many of the reports offered on our website. This extra service is presented to our customers through a full-page offer directly after checkout. Users may either accept or decline the offer. Our records you affirmatively enrolled in this additional membership by checking a box accepting the automatic renewal terms and clicking "Sign me up for PeopleFinders Rewards" instead of declining the offer.

PeopleFinders Rewards members also have access to-

We did not receive notification that you wished to cancel this within your 7 day trial period, therefore you were billed $24.99. Per your request over the phone on 10/8/2014 we refunded one charge of $24.99 as a courtesy.

In conclusion we have granted a total of $74.89 in refunds as a courtesy, the account is closed and there will be no further automatic billing. The remaining membership fees on this account are non-refundable per the Terms you agreed to.

I found a person and her address on White Pages for free. There was a link sponsored by Peoplefinders.com that phone number is available for THAT PERSON-here is the link:

If link doesn't work or information on the website was altered I have a print of that page saved and will provide if required.

I followed that link and proceeded with the purchase of the report. which didn't provide me the phone number as advertised on the site and sponsored banner from peoplesearch.com on whitepages.com. Nor their website never specifically corrected the false advertisement on white pages to advise me that the "Phone Number is NOT Available for this person".

I called the billing department of their website to request a refund and they refused to proceed.

At least they should have say to their customer prior to payment that the phone number or any other contact info is NOT AVAILABLE. THEY WERE NO WORD about it. Very confusing and misleading. Desired Settlement: I am requesting full refund of 1.95 back to my pay pal account.

1.) the above statement about the green icon "If you do not see a green icon that indicates a particular piece of information is available, then it will not be available upon purchase" was not given to me prior to purchase the report. If they dont give above explanation anywhere prior to charging a fee how else anybody would know that.

2) they failed to respond to false advertisement "phone number is available for that particular person" listed on the white pages website (link was provided earlier)

3) After I bought the report it has a wrong adress

([redacted], [redacted]) --- this is false there is no such thing as [redacted]. and ** is not a unit it is a street name) the person's real adress is [redacted] - and white pages has it available for free. So the adress I paid for doesn't even exist physically anywhere in the US.

I request a full refund immediately.

Salesmen in modern internet garb. The fact that I was able to find another

internet search engine that did provide the information I requested for free

tells me that Peoplefinders.com failed to provide to me information that

apparently is readily available.
