Review: Hello. I went on the People finders.com site to find out some information on an old friend. I paid the asking fee of $49.95 to purchase a report and all I received was 5 pages of old neighbors where the person had lived about 20 years ago. I was not satisfied with the report because it included nothing up to date besides the persons age. I had sent an email on 2/8/14 stating that I would like a refund because I did not receive any information as advertised (like birth, divorce, schools attended, etc.)The company responded on 2/9/14 with an email from the People finders customer care and they stated they will do a courtesy search for the information that I am looking for within 15 days. I called today 0n 2/13/14 and a lady answered the call but explained if the information was not in the report than it won't be found in an additional search. In other words I paid $49.95 for old, worthless information. I was not given any useful, updated information.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a refund of $49.95. Thank you.I am not satisfied with the search I was provided with: lists of neighbors (people of whom I was not searching for) instead of any relevant information about the person I had requested. I was fooled into believing that $49.95 would provide me with an extensive, up to date, full, complete honest report.

We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. When you order a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. We are unable to provide a refund, but we will be happy to offer you a free search on any other individual to help you find the facts you need. Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.

Review: I used Peoplefinders.com on February 1, 2014 to find a phone number for 2 different people. I feel that the charges on 2/1/14 are appropriate and totaled under $4.00. However, I did not examine my Discover card closely enough in February and there was a charge of $24.95 from peoplefinders that I did not find until just today. Today, March 13th is when I discovered a March 8th charge for 24.95. I called the company and the man was EXTREMELY RUDE and refused to help "you said you didn't, we say you did." This was regarding the automatic deductions they said I signed up for. I did NOT. When I spoke with Discover just now, they not only found the peoplefinders.com charges, BUT also found 2 other charges from "PF" services (had the same phone number as peoplefinders.com.)So...I got charged $24.95 TWICE PER MONTH since February. Discover is currently investigating these charges as fraudulent.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed $99.80.

Our records show at the time of purchase you chose to receive a discounted price ($0.95) for signing up for a 3 day free trial to our 3-in-1 Membership instead of the full price ($1.95) for one report. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:

•People Searches – Get the facts you need to find anyone, anywhere

•Email Searches – Obtain email addresses, or learn about the owner of any address

•Social Profile Searches – See updates on all of your friend’s social profiles in one spot

•Marriage Searches – Find out if a man or woman has ever been married

•Divorce Searches – Check the divorce status of any man or woman

•Property Searches – Learn about any piece of property, including the current owner and value

You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone.

We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were billed $24.95 on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter.

The charge for $24.99 is for our PeopleFinders Rewards program. This allows you to get discounts on the different reports offered on our website. You signed up for this program by clicking "Yes, sign me up for PeopleFinders Rewards" instead of declining the offer by clicking the "No don't sign me up" option. We did not receive notification that you wished to cancel this within your 7 day trial period, therefore you were billed $24.99.

Your PeopleFinders Membership was used by running People Searches on two separate individuals, both of which would normally cost $1.95 each. In addition, a discounted background check was purchased at $1 instead of the full price of $49.95 by utilizing the PeopleFinders Rewards program.

Per your request over the phone on 3/13/2014 we cancelled your membership. Rather than requesting refunds from us we received notice of a dispute through your Discover Card today (3/18/2014) . Because the dispute process has already been started, you will need to follow Discover's policies regarding these charges.

Business

Response:

If your intention was to run only two searches then you had in fact selected the wrong product. The trial membership option on our site ($0.95) is for customers who would like to run unlimited searches and as stated online requires a cancellation within three days if you do not wish to continue. As we stated before these charges were under dispute through your credit card company. We received notice of this dispute on 3/18/2014. Our records show on 3/20/2014 we received a response from them and they agreed to allow us to issue two refunds of $24.99. Any other charges on this account are your responsibility. Because of the dispute you will need to follow Discover's policies regarding the other membership fees.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

My intention was, indeed, to run

only two searches and feel I was tricked into selecting the “wrong product.” I feel

that Peoplefinders.com was, to be kind, deceptive in their presentation of the

“trial membership.” Given the fact that deception is one thing…out and out

fraud seems like another. I label it this way because I was charged not only by

Peoplefinders.com, BUT ALSO by PF – both the same phone number – the same

company. DOUBLE charged per month! How is that explained?

It’s interesting that Discover

“allowed” Peoplefinders.com to issue two refunds (should have been FOUR!!). I

find it amusing that there is an implication that “because of the dispute” (because

I involved Discover), that I need to “follow their policies.” It makes it sound

like I did not contact Peoplefinders.com first. I need to be clear that I did and

was greeted with an incredibly rude representative. He stated, in essence, “you

say you didn’t, we say you did…we’re done here.” PERIOD. This, along with an

attitude of disgust with every syllable. Obviously not intending to listen, or

even try to compromise.

While the money lost is an issue,

the tactics of this company are vastly more disturbing. I’m sure I will not see

another penny from Peoplefinders.com, but feel satisfied to have my say on

record. I have never registered such a complaint, but feel that this is totally

justified!!

Thanks Revdex.com!!!

Sincerely,

Review: I have been billed since Aug 2013 for a service I never asked for at $24.95 a month. I called and complained to [redacted]. nothing has happened.. How can I stop this fee from automatically being taken out of my checking account and be reimbursed for payment?Desired Settlement: I want to be reimbursed for my payment of $24.95 a month for 14 months

Response:

Hello,

At the time of purchase on 8/21/2013 you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Membership.

You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone.

We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial ended; therefore, as stated on the website, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day and for every month thereafter.

Per your request over the phone on 9/26/2014 we granted two refunds of $24.95, as a courtesy. Per this complaint we will grant one additional refund of $24.95. Please allow 7-10 business days for this to process back to your credit or debit card.

The remaining ten months of membership fees are your responsibility per the Terms you agreed to. In conclusion we have granted three refunds totaling $74.85, your account is closed and there will be no further automatic billing.

This customer chose to purchase a window of time on our self-controlled website and

what they choose to do with that time is up to them. They are granted access to

login and use it every day, whether that be sporadically or never. Either way

the service we are providing is the ability to access our database at any time.

If they no longer want the service that is being provided they are able to

cancel at any time via the website, email or phone. Our contact information is

listed on the website and beside each charge on the customer’s statement. For

the period of their membership the customer was charged each month. During that

time, our customer service was available to take the cancellation at any time. We

did not receive notice that the customer no longer wanted this service until thirteen

months after the membership was initiated.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: peoplefinders is a scam....I never signed up for it and can't stop it.... it has 161 complaints against it and the site should be closed down. It is everything a senior (or individual) is told to look out for. I have been automatically billed for 13 months at $25 a month for something I never subscribed to. I need more than 2 months compensation and I better not still be being billed.

Review: The web page listed the information I was seeking as available on the Background Report. After paying for the report, it did not have the information that I was seeking and paid for. The information listed was either old, outdated or was the wrong person. I called the Service Representative and she stated that the information that I was seeking was not available in the state that I was seeking it from. (This fact was omitted on the web page and listed the information as available) The Service Representative stated that no refund would be given.Desired Settlement: I am seeking a full refund, due to the services listed on the Background Report were not provided and not even available for the state that I was seeking it in.

Business

Response:

We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. We are unable to provide a refund, but we can offer you a free search to help you find the facts you need either now or in the future. Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

I was falsely lead to believe by the Peoplefinders.com web page that the information that I was seeking was available from all states. The fact that the information I was seeking was not available from the State of Alabama was omitted on the web page. The information that was provided was outdated or for the wrong person.

Review: I signed up for a 3 day trial membership, at a cost of $19.95. After using the website for less than an hour, I decided that it wouldn't help with what I was looking for. I canceled my membership and was notified by email that I would only be charged $2.95 for my membership instead of $19.95. My bank account was initially charged the $19.95, and the next day was charged $2.95. I called the 800 number to see when I would receive a $19.95 credit. I was told that the $19.95 was a transaction charge, and the $2.95 was a cancellation charge. I re read my emails to see if I had misunderstood the initial charges, and the emails confirm that I should have only been charged the $2.95. I was not able to get anything resolved by calling the customer service number.Desired Settlement: I would like my $19.95 refunded to my bank.

Business

Response:

At the time of purchase you chose to receive a discounted price of $19.95 for a Comprehensive Background Check plus three day trial membership. Background Checks are normally $29.95 but you received this discount ($19.95) because you signed up for a 3 day free trial to our Membership. The trial refers to the Membership only. You have 3 days to cancel the trial which would have automatically charge you a monthly membership fee of $24.95. As stated during checkout and on your cancellation email confirmation, if you cancel within three days you will only be billed $2.94 for the trial. Your original purchase is not affected. You will not be billed $24.95 for the Membership because you cancelled within 3 days. The two charges on your account ($19.94 and 42.95) are non refundable per the Terms you agreed to.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:There was NO mention of a discounted price and it was not made clear that the charge was for a background check. It appeared that it was a monthly membership and I canceled as soon as I realized that I was not interested in the membership. The claims made by peoplefinders was not in the emails as they claim. Very deceptive business practices!

Review: I signed up for a trial period. It said if I cancel within three days. I would only be charged $2.95. I canceled within the three days, but was charged $24.95, $0.47, & $0.48. When I called back they said that I did not cancel within the correct amount of time, it was actually four days after when I canceled my membership and that was why I was charged. It was not, they changed the dates of membership to incorrect dates.Desired Settlement: I would like to pay the $2.95, but be reimbursed the other fees.

Business

Response:

We have reviewed your account and found that an order for a search was placed by you on 2/7/2015. At that time you chose to receive a discounted price for the report ($0.95) PLUS a three day Trial to the Membership. Our customer service was available to take your cancellation at any time via you online account manager, email or phone. The site states "If canceled within 3 days, pay only $2.95 for trial. After the trial, you will be billed $24.95/month." We did not receive your cancellation until 2/11/2015, four days after the three day Trial Membership was initiated. Therefore you were billed the Membership fee ($24.95) on the fourth day. The charge is non-refundable per the Terms you agreed to. Your Membership will automatically expire on 3/13/2015, and you can enjoy all the great benefits of this service until then.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: This is simply not true the dates are not correct I did not have the trial for four days.

We believe you may be confusing us with another website. The product you purchased on PeopleFinders.com on 2/28/2015 was a $1.95 People Search Report. We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. When you order a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. Review: My husband saw charge on American Express bill and called me asking what it was for. I said I had paid $0.90+ to get a friends telephone # in Seattle while we were there on vacation. He told me there were 2 charges for 0.$48 and $0.47 on the 15th of April and then a $24.95 charge on the 19th of April. I told him I knew nothing about the $24.95 charge. When called again he said he had tried to call me back after speaking with them to get me on the line so this could be dealt with immediately, but could not reach me. PeopleFinders stated that they would not credit us and that I would need to call in to cancel my membership and see if they would refund us. I called today and got disconnected the first time I tried and then got through and was told that after 3 days there was no credit and that I had agreed to the terms. I stated I had done this on my cell and did not see their fine print. Furthermore I have and had no more use for this service other than the one-time use. They would not credit and so I called American Express to dispute. After speaking with AMEX I figured out how to log into my account so that I could cancel my membership since after looking online at all the customer complaints, realized that the charge was not a one-time charge, but a monthly charge of $24.95. After I cancelled the automated reply said that I would be credited my initial charge. I will believe it when I see it. My complaint is with their business practice and their lack of willingness to address legitimate customer error that seems far to abundantly easy to initiate and with their customer service reps basically not telling you that you will get refunded for the month you are in. which in my case, would have solved the whole matter since it has been less than a month. In general, since these crooks are in CA, you and the state attorney general should do something to clamp down on them and get them to improve their business practicesDesired Settlement: Confirm that refund has been applied

Business

Response:

To protect your account information and ensure searching is kept confidential we only allow account holders access to thier account. The PeopleFinders account you are referring to was in your name only therefore your husband was not allowed to go over the purchase or make changes. At the time of purchase on 4/15/2015 you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Membership. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:•People Searches – Get the facts you need to find anyone, anywhere•Email Searches – Obtain email addresses, or learn about the owner of any address•Marriage Searches – Find out if a man or woman has ever been married•Divorce Searches – Check the divorce status of any man or woman•Property Searches – Learn about any piece of property, including the current owner and valueThe trial membership and automatic renewal is mentioned, in standard text, on each page of checkout. You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone. We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Given that members can conduct unlimited searches and other services for a monthly fee, the Terms do not allow for refunds and simply allow users to cancel at anytime to avoid further billing. As you stated in this complaint, per your online request on 5/13/2015 we granted one refund for the most current month of membership as a one-time courtesy. You mentioned on this complaint that you have filed a dispute with your credit card company. Often, due to the dispute, you are given a conditional refund by your bank. We recommend informing your credit card company of the refund we have granted as if we do in fact recieve a dispute for the refunded charge, we would be forced to negate our refund.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because not once did they state they would refund the initial month charge and since it had been less than a month, there should not have been an issue. Their repeated claims that the buyer is informed is rubbish since if you are no a phone trying to get an phone number it is not easy to see the fine print. I am sure there are those that may want to use this service for it's full capacity, but by the number of customers complaining about their practices, it seems that a majority of customers are not aware what they are agreeing to when they try and get just one phone number.Furthermore if they had not wasted our time and just said we always refund the 1st month if the client is not satisfied, missed or misunderstood the terms of the online acceptance, then I would not have bothered writing the Revdex.com or calling American Express. The only way I found out about getting the credit for that first charge was when I went to the website and logged in to cancel. It then told me about the credit. I will cancel the dispute with my credit card once I see a credit on my statement. If the credit card company sees this, they would remove the credit that they had issued. All I can say is they are pros at dissection.

Review: PeopleFinders is intentionally trying to confuse people with their advertising and billing policies. I signed up for their service which costed $19.99 per month but they said that if I canceled within the first 3 days, I would only be charged a $2.95 cancellation fee. I canceled on the first day (they service was worthless, did not provide the information they claimed they would) but I ended up being charged $19.99 + $2.95. When I called the company, they said I should go back and read the website more carefully. This company is dishonest, using false and misleading advertising and taking advantage of people. I look forward to the reading about the lawsuit in the newspaper when either the government or someone else sues them.Desired Settlement: Full refund and a stop to dishonest advertising and billing practices.

Business

Response:

We have reviewed your account and found that on 7/18/2015 instead of purchasing a single Background Report at $39.95 you chose to receive a Background Report at a discounted price of $19.95. The reason this product is discounted is because it comes with a three day trial membership. If cancelled within three days you will be billed $2.95 for the trial. If the trial is allowed to renew it would have renewed at $29.95 per month for the membership. Your original purchase of $19.95 is not affected. We received your cancellation online on 7/18/2015, within the three day trial period, therefore you were billed $2.95 for the trial on the fourth day. Again, the cancellation does not negate your initial purchase of $19.95 for the Background Report.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:Your policies are intentionally misleading. You know people will be confused and you plan that they will not fight back. I talked with my credit card company and they said they get complaints about your business all the time. Face it, you are scamming people.

Review: We attempted to use the search services from Peoplefinders to obtain an updated address. Our credit card was charged several times, we were unable to access the services online, and Peoplefinders' customer service insisted that the charges had not gone through when in fact they had been charged several times to our account. Their customer service agents rudely hung up when we attempted to get clarification about reversing the charges, and were not helpful in trying to address the situation. We are hoping that the Revdex.com can prevail upon Peoplefinders to reverse the charges and delete our information, including credit card information, from their database to prevent this recurring in future as many previous complainants to the Revdex.com have already experienced. Thank you.Desired Settlement: We would like the charges reversed and we also need our information, including our credit card information, to be deleted from Peoplefinders' database to prevent future charges and security compromises to our card.

Business

Response:

We have not received payment for the three .98 cent charges that where attempted on our website. Please have the customer confirm with there bank that these charges were not paid. The customers account has been closed.

I used the one time lookup, was charged the .95 for my service and cancelled so I would not get the reoccurring monthly charge.. They charged me anyway. I didn't write the confirmation number down, and the company refuses to refund me my money that indid not authorize.

Please avoid this company.. Bad business and moral ethics.

Review: Background search does not provide current information on subject name entered. Information is marked as not available or it is more than ten years old which is far from current. Information requested was in the state listed as the states which background would be searched. Customer Service refused to provide assistance stating that all background information they provide is the only information to be found. Encouraged me to contact the Revdex.com to issue my complaint for which they said would do NO GOOD doing a complaint with the Revdex.com. I selected this company to do the background search because of it's Revdex.com rating of A+ which I feel is impossible to be that good after my experience with this company. I request you re-evaluate that rating and look at the hundreds of complaints logged against People Finders which I consider scam artists selling outdated information and excuses that their searches are limited by the laws of this country? In other words ......... if you navigate their website ........ you will discover they can not provide information they say they can get for you ......... A real clip joint and should move to Las Vegas = I did not wish to gamble my $20 but that is the way they operate with NO GUARANTEES OF SATISFACTION with ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS .... NO MATTER WHAT .... plus they REFUSED TO DO A SECOND SEARCH TO PROVIDE BETTER INFORMATION THAN THE FIRST.Desired Settlement: Refund of my $19.95 for useless information that was outdated and not complete even though that information was searched in the state they said was included in their background search engine.

Business

Response:

Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, but I want you to know the following.

This company refused to offer the courtesy search mentioned in their FORM RESPONSE TO THE Revdex.com........... the first time I complained about this matter to this outfit ......... the CS Rep stating that another search of that name would result in the same information. Therefore, I find it hard to believe they are paying a fee to access PUBLIC RECORDS ....... when in fact it is done by doing a search by county of each state searched and is free information to the PUBLIC ........ plus they do not search all states and all their data is outdated clear back to 2004 .............. again how can that be considered UP TO DATE INFORMATION worth paying their requested FEE ?????????????????

I accept the courtesy research offer they proposed to you/me ............ it is nothing more than a coverup response to protect their continued use of OUTDATED AND LIMITED INFORMATION. It is still my opinion that they are nothing more than leaches swimming in the ocean attacking innocent fools that fall for their useless INTERNET SCHEME.

But like [redacted] says ........... At this point in time what difference does it make!!!!

Apparently the Revdex.com does not care either!!!!!!!!!!!

How dare the Revdex.com gives them such a high rating ........... rating for what ........... outdated information ......... do I make my point .......... what a waste of time and money .......... and then the Revdex.com protects them with a HIGH RATING????????????????

Review: I have been charged by PeopleFinders.com without my permission for several months. I would like a refund.

PeopleFinders.com has charged me for more than a year without my permission. They never asked me if I wanted it charged to my account. They went ahead and charged me automatically without my permission. I have read many complaints by a lot of people which surprised me. They charged me in the year of 2012 to now. It was charged to my TD Bank Account number. I do not want to put my account number on this for security reasons. I am not sure about the year 2011 as I cannot find the paperwork. I would like to have PeopleFinders refund my charges that I never ordered. Thank you. If you need more info, please let me know.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Please have PeopleFinders refund my charges that were unauthorized and have them removed my TD account immediately. Thank you

Review: I paid for a membership thinking I would have access to information on social websites, marriage, public. Each time there was an additional charge.

The site is misleading in making you think you have access to information with a membership. But in fact each time you search for more detailed info they want to charge you for the report. I simply wanted to pay a fair price for information and feel I was mislead.Desired Settlement: I do not want to be charged for a service I did not use. Once I discovered the limited access I would have I cancelled my membership, but believe I will still be billed for the initial membership.

I used this company because it was Revdex.com accredited.

Very disappointed with service.

I expect to receive the service that I paid for. It's unfair, unethical & at the very least confusing advertising.

I went back to the site after the first response from the company to make sure I was in fact signed in and yes the outcome was the same.

I don't think you should be able to hide behind your "terms if service". I suppose that would allow you to simply take people's money with no responsibility or having to account to anyone for your lack of service.

I certainly feel scammed!!! I expect better from a Revdex.com accredited company.

Review: Company contract has a hidden charge for $24.99/month. I agreed to $0.99 for contact info, which turned out to be useless. Big ripoff!

I needed contact information for a person. Company advertised the information for 0.99. I looked at the information carefully and agreed to the $0.99 charge. I checked my AMEX bill and saw a charge for $0.99. Not only was the information wrong, both phone numbers and email addresses, but hidden somewhere in the agreement, was a monthly charge of $24.99 I only knew about when I received my AMEX bill. This is a gross misrepresentation of services. I would not recommend this scamster company to anyone. Desired Settlement: I just want my $24.99 back. It was case number XAXXXXX from Chargeback Resolutions at PeopleFinders.com.

Initial Business Response

We have reviewed our files and our records show that an order for a search was run by you on 10/15/2013. At that time you had a choice to accept a special discounted price available with a monthly membership ($0.95) which allows unlimited searches or the full price for each one individual search without membership($1.95). The membership option was affirmatively selected by you on 10/15/2013. That membership provided a 3 day trial to try our services. Our membership service provides unlimited searches and other features for a monthly fee. This is clearly and conspicuously disclosed on the initial order selection page. Then you are provided with an entire page outlining the terms of the membership which clearly states that after the initial trial, unless you cancel the service the service will continue monthly and the card they provided will be charged until they tell us to cancel their membership to avoid future charges. The membership is mentioned no less than three times on three pages before the order is complete.

Given that members can conduct unlimited searches for a monthly membership fee our terms do not allow for any refunds and simply allow members to cancel anytime to avoid future charges. For the period of your membership you were charged each month. During this time, our customer service was available to take your cancelation at any time. Our records show that rather than contacting PeopleFinders.com to cancel or ask about the charge, we received a chargeback filed with American Express on 10/28/2013. There have been no charges after this was received because you filed a dispute with your card company. We provided your card company with documentation showing the product you selected online. Our records show on 12/6/2013 the charges were found to be valid by American Express and the case is closed. Because of the chargeback being filed and the terms you agreed to we cannot provide any refunds.

Review: We used Peoplefinder on April 3 and clicked on a $1.00 introductory offer of $1.oo, then .46, and then $1.00. We found what we wanted and then I called 3 days later to cancel our account. We did not realize that those 3 clicks were signing us up for a second account. When I called to cancel our account, I was told that we would not be charged and that she had canceled our account. She did not say 'you have a second account too, you know.'June 20 we discovered that we were being charged not only for an introductory membership but also a secondary membership to something we had never heard of called PFREWARDS Our account was billed twice each month for an initial membership + this secondary membership. I called Sunday June 22, to solve the problem and was told that they could credit us back 3 charges but not the other 3. I called again today June 23 to speak to the supervisor, [redacted]. She insisted that they could not refund any more because they had no record of my call and we were responsible for what we chose. We did NOT choose to belong and did not sign up for ANY membership, only the introductory offer! They are a scam and should be taken to court and put out of business. Creepy people, creepy billing!Desired Settlement: Peoplefinder should immediately refund the rest of our money $74.75 for all of the billing except the initial introductory use which we paid, $2.46 and the $74.95 that was refunded. It is not fair to bill people for an account not made clear on their website, and never used! Their website is misleading and dishonest.

Our records show two trial memberships were selected by you on 4/3/2014 and utilized until 4/6/2014. We did not receive a cancellation for these trials within the trial periods therefore you were billed monthly membership fees. Our basic PeopleFinders Membership ($24.95) allows you to run unlimited searches. This comes with the discounted price of $0.95 for the People Search Report you ordered. This gave you the ability to run unlimited searches by name to find addresses and phone numbers. We show this membership was also used on 5/20/2014, two months after the membership was initiated.

The PeopleFinders Rewards program ($24.99) allows you to receive discounted prices on the many of the reports offered on our website. This extra membership is presented to our customers through a full-page offer directly after checkout. Users may either accept or decline the additional offer. Our records show you added this additional membership to your account on 4/3/2014 by clicking "Yes, sign me up." This is why you were able to receive three Comprehensive Background Checks at $1.00 instead of $39.95. To be clear you have only one account with us but you have two memberships which provide two separate services on PeopleFinders.com.

We do not have any record of contact from you regarding your membership until a phone call to our Customer Care department on 6/22/2014. Per this request we agreed to grant three refunds totaling $74.93 as a courtesy and closed your account. There are no further refunds available per the Terms you agreed to.

Review: I signed up and paid for a 3 day trial with PeopleFinders.com back in August 2013, in order to search for 1 record. Although I never again used their service, they subsequently charged me $24.95 a month for the next year, for a "membership" that I did NOT order. They did not notify me of this "membership" - there was no communication from them at all about recurring charges. I have no emails from them, no invoices, or statements, and no account information with them. Somehow I missed the charges on my bank statement, until now. When I called they refused to refund the charges and said I should have noticed the charges on my bank statement - so it's my problem, not theirs.Desired Settlement: I want all of the $24.95/mo "membership" charges refunded to my card immediately. I have not been on their site for over a year.

We were not able to find an account using the e-mail address you supplied. Please send us the e-mail you used to create your account at PeopleFinders.com. As stated during checkout for the trial membership you are referring to, unless the customer cancels the service it will continue monthly and the card they provided will be charged until they tell us to cancel their membership to avoid future charges. Given that members can conduct unlimited searches for a monthly membership fee our terms do not allow for refunds and simply allow members to cancel anytime to avoid future charges.

Review: I bought a search on peoplefinder because it stated it had a phone number, email, and court records for my childrens grandfather, however after purchasing none of these items were there. I asked for a refund since they promised something they could not give. I was led astray by their advertisement and they refuse to refund my money.Desired Settlement: I would like the refund of the amount I spent since I did not get what I recieved

Response:

Please find attached for your review a screenshot of the information available prior to purchase. Please note that it does not mention any available phone number, email or court records. When you purchase a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. We are unable to provide a refund, but we will be happy to offer you a free search to help you find the facts you need. We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.

Review: I purchased access to their database. I looked up three individuals first. Myself, my ex-husband and an individual I've known since 6th grade. Most of the information was outdated or not that individual. I immediately called and canceled since their service isn't what they claim it to be. I asked for a refund and they have out right refused. I was able to find more accurate and up to date information in a google search. I believe they don't live up to the quality they charge for. I can't use their services for the individual I wanted to look up because their information isn't trustworthy. When I tried to discuss this with the customer service and then the only supervisor I was allowed to talk to they refused to do any compensation, even though I was a member for less than an hour. I also felt they were extremely rude. And when I mentioned reporting them to the Revdex.com she said she was fine with that.Desired Settlement: I would like the company to refund my money.

We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. As you stated, the service you purchased was a month of access to our database. Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I don't want a month of access to wrong and outdated information. Especially, since I did my own search and found the information without their services. If I could locate the information then with their database should have been able too.

Review: I ran a search on the website which costed $0.99 but did not receive any search report. I initially registered the account with my email address [redacted] but later was not able to login the website using this email address. The website indicates that there was no account associated with this address. Later, I realized that the website has been charging me recurrently for $24.95 on October 5, 2015, and the same amount again on November 5, 2015. I did not authorize the recurrent charges. I have spoken with the customer service of peoplefinders.com and they were able to locate my account using my credit card number. They found the credit card number to be associated with my email address, but refused to provide a refund, on the grounds that by not cancelling the membership within three days of the initial $0.99 purchase, I authorized the monthly membership.Desired Settlement: I would request the business refund that membership fees that I have not authorized for, totalling $49.9.

Response:

We are unable to find the account using both the email addresses you provided. Do you remember what email address was used on the account that Customer Care found for you? Also please provide the exact First name and Last name you typed in when creating the account.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:The email address the phone operator found using my credit card number was registered as [redacted]. But when I tried to use it to access peoplefinders.com, it says there is no account associated with this address.Last name: [redacted]First name: [redacted] OR [redacted]. However, in my first phone call the phone operator said my first name does not correspond what you have on the system. She refused to provide me with help, and refused to tell me what that first name was on your system.

Business

Response:

We apologize for the confusion. We also cannot find the account using the name or email address you provided. We need to find a way to find the charge to investigate further and refund if necessary. We don't want to ask you to provide any credit card information here. Is there a phone number we can call you at to see if we can find the transaction using the credit card that was charged?

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: you may call me at 929 375 0988. Thanks.
