Review: I used CFK PeopleFinders website to locate an address. The charge was supposedly .49 for one entry and .95 for another.
When I got my credit card bill, I found a charge from CFK PeopleFinders for 24.95. I contact my credit card company to get the charge removed. The next month, the same charge was on my bill again.
I have tried to contact CFK PeopleFinders, but have been unsuccessful.
I want to get CFK PeopleFinders to stop billing me for this charge. I have only used their services that one time and have not used them since.Desired Settlement: I currently have been charged and paid $24.95 on my credit card bill. I want this charge reversed and not further charges put on my credit card by CFK PeopleFinders.

Response:
The customer had signed up for a membership, they did not contact us to cancel their monthly membership. We have refunded 1 charge of $24.95. There will be no further billings.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Review: Refusal to provide service as agreed. I tried to access my account earlier today but I couldn't access the account - [redacted]@yahoo.com
I have used this company for many years. My credit card was charged on 04/17/2013
DBT CRD XXXX XX/17/13
XXXXXXXX PF REWARDS XXXXXXXXXX
XXX-XXX-XXXX CA Card# [redacted]
(24.99)
Earlier today I was using my account when suddenly I was locked out of my account for no apparent reason. Desired Settlement: I have paid for this service on an automatic credit card charge. I use this service every day. This has happened to me twice before and no explanation was given then and none has been given now. As a result of the failure to provide services I have been severely damaged. Customers who are terminated (assuming that is what they did) should be told in an email why their account is being terminated. In the alternative this company ought to provide some sort of credit to those customers improperly terminated or denied service.

Review: Peoplefinders.com advertised that you can look up telephone number or people names for $.95 on 6/5/13. On Sunday I checked my account and there was a charge from this company for $24.95. I called the company on 6/9/13 but they were closed for business so I called 6/10/13 and spoke to Jamie [redacted] she advised me on the company website you will be charge for 1 month this is the reason I was charged $24.95. [redacted] advised me to check the website in reference to the charge it was included 4 times. Well I checked the website the $24.95 makes an appearance there but that is if you joined the membership. I only was advised by the website I would only be charged $.95 and they refused to refund the $24.95. In order to understand please check there entire website you will not see that they only give you 3 days to cancel they just discuss if you keep the account after 30 days you will be charged this is on the website. Please Help. Desired Settlement: My complete refund for $24.95 for false advertising.

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The problem I have with this business is they say you can cancel within 3 days but when I saw the charge over the weekend I called on saturday or sunday and the business was closed.
Business' Final Response
The customer has a choice to accept a special discounted price available with a monthly membership or the full price for the search without membership. If a customer does not wish to enroll in membership they may choose the full price for one report. The membership provides a three day trial to try our services. Our membership service provides unlimited searches and other features for a monthly fee. This is clearly and conspicuously disclosed on the initial order selection page. Then the consumer is provided with an entire page outlining the terms of the membership which clearly and conspicuously states that after the initial trial, unless the consumer cancels the service the service will continue monthly and the card they provided will be charged until they tell us to cancel their membership to avoid future charges. The membership is mentioned no less than three times on three pages before the order is complete.
Given that members can conduct unlimited searches for a monthly membership fee our terms do not allow for any refunds and simply allow members to cancel anytime to avoid future charges. For the period of her membership the customer will be charged each month. During that time, our customer service is available to take the cancellation at any time.
Review: PeopleSearch. Refusal of the refund. Fails to provide service advertised. Confusing and misleading information
I found a person and her address on White Pages for free. There was a link sponsored by Peoplefinders.com that phone number is available for THAT PERSON-here is the link:
http://www.whitepages.com/name/[redacted]-NY/[redacted]
If link doesn't work or information on the website was altered I have a print of that page saved and will provide if required.
I followed that link and proceeded with the purchase of the report. which didn't provide me the phone number as advertised on the site and sponsored banner from peoplesearch.com on whitepages.com. Nor their website never specifically corrected the false advertisement on white pages to advise me that the "Phone Number is NOT Available for this person".
I called the billing department of their website to request a refund and they refused to proceed.
At least they should have say to their customer prior to payment that the phone number or any other contact info is NOT AVAILABLE. THEY WERE NO WORD about it. Very confusing and misleading. Desired Settlement: I am requesting full refund of 1.95 back to my pay pal account.

Hello,
We offer a free preliminary search which will indicate what information is available upon purchase for each listing. We offer this to ensure that you are fully aware of what information you will receive upon making a purchase.
The available information is indicated by green icons. If you do not see a green icon that indicates a particular piece of information is available, then it will not be available upon purchase.
Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.

Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1.) the above statement about the green icon "If you do not see a green icon that indicates a particular piece of information is available, then it will not be available upon purchase" was not given to me prior to purchase the report. If they dont give above explanation anywhere prior to charging a fee how else anybody would know that.
2) they failed to respond to false advertisement "phone number is available for that particular person" listed on the white pages website (link was provided earlier)
3) After I bought the report it has a wrong adress
([redacted], [redacted]) --- this is false there is no such thing as [redacted]. and ** is not a unit it is a street name) the person's real adress is [redacted] - and white pages has it available for free. So the adress I paid for doesn't even exist physically anywhere in the US.
I request a full refund immediately.
Business' Final Response
we have emailed a screenshot for your review of the information that was available prior to purchase of this individual's listing. Peoplefinders.com is not Whitepages.com. There are sometimes advertisements for PeopleFinders on WhitePages. Please contact WhitePages.com if you have questions about information on their website. PeopleFinders has access to billions of public records, including the most recent and 40-years worth of historical data. This allows us to provide information about most every person or business in the United States. Public records are created from a variety of sources, including phone directories, property records, birth and death records, magazine subscriptions and voter registration cards. Although PeopleFinders provides public records, we do not create or modify them in any way. We are only able to display the information provided in each record, so we cannot guarantee their accuracy. New public records are created every day, so PeopleFinders is always able to offer the most up-to-date and accurate information possible; however, this information must be publicly reported by the person.

Business' Initial Response
The monthly charge of $24.99 is for our PeopleFinders Rewards program. This allows you to get discounts on the different reports offered on our website. Our records show the 7 day trial to PeopleFinders Rewards was affirmatively selected by you on 1/11/2013 online. We did not receive notification that you wished to cancel this within your 7 day trial period, therefore you were billed $24.99 on the eighth day and for every month thereafter. We have cancelled this membership per your request over the phone on 5/12/2013 and at that time refunded two charges of $24.99 each as a onetime courtesy. There are no other refunds available per the terms you agreed to on 1/11/2013.
Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response is not acceptable and in my view People Finders scammed me. I never heard of, nor had any interest in a "People Finders Rewards" Program. I certainly never signed up for it, nor gave permission to charge my credit card. It is not a practice I EVER do on the internet.
And they have offered no PROOF to the contrary.
On January 11, I looked up a phone number for $1.95. This is how People Finders got my credit information.
This is fraud. All 4 revolving monthly charges by this company must be refunded.
Business' Final Response
As stated in our Terms of Use, we do not offer refunds for the product you ordered. On 1/11/2013 you provided your electronic signature by clicking "Yes, I agree to the PeopleFinders Terms of Use and Privacy Policy." After this order page and advertisement was displayed for the PeopleFinders Rewards program. At that time you have a choice between clicking on a button that states "Sign me up for PeopleFinders Rewards" or "No, don't sign me up" Our records show "Sign me up for PeopleFinders Rewards" was affirmatively selected. This advertisement states in standard text "I understand that by clicking the button below I am signing up for a 7-day FREE trial subscription to PeopleFinders Rewards. I can cancel by calling X-XXX-XXX-XXXX toll-free within 7 days. If I don't cancel, I will be billed $24.95 each month until this subscription is cancelled." We did not receive a cancelation until a phone call on 5/12/2013, five months after the membership had been started. We have granted two refunds of $24.99 as a courtesy. No further refunds will be granted.
Review: I purchased a 99 cent trial and cancelled the next day and they continued to bill me for a year
I needed to find someone I worked with so I chose people finders for a 99 cent trial for a day then I cancelled immediately the next day. ive been super busy this past year starting my own business this year that I havent looked closely at my statements enough and I noticed this month that I had a charge for people finders on my account so I called immediately and they refunded me for the one month but they said they couldnt do any thing else.. this charged me 25 $ a month so I have been charged 400$ dallors this past year for something I cancelled the next day.Desired Settlement: a refund would be fine

Response:
We have reviewed your account and found that on [redacted] you affirmatively selected to enroll in our three day trial membership. Our customer care was available to take your cancellation at any time via phone, email or your online account manager. We did not receive any communication or cancellation from you until a phone call on [redacted]. You failed to contact us to cancel until twelve months of monthly billings had passed.
We keep records of all customer contacts but if you have a record of a previous cancellation prior to [redacted] please provide the name of the person you spoke with or an email confirmation, which is sent when a cancelation is received via any of the previously mentioned routes.
Normally all charges are non-refundable per the terms you agreed to on [redacted]. Per your request over the phone, and as a one time courtesy, we have granted one refund of $24.95 for the most current month. The other remaining charges are non-refundable per the agreed to terms and the amount of time that has passed since the charges occurred.

Response:
I am rejecting this response because:
that is ridiculous! I know I called to cancel who would pay monthly to find people! thats insane! when I called she didnt even blink an eye to give me back the last month which shows me that they know that they are sneaky. I want a refund!
Review: Rip off! What I received was not a comprehensive background check. No criminal history /credit history /employment history.
1/9/14
Your website gave Peoplefinders an A plus rating. I needed a background check on [redacted] for a custody battle. I know for a fact that he has a criminal history which includes drug possession and a felony. I paid over $50 for information that I already knew. Most of the info was simply phone numbers and addresses of neighbors, that I could have gotten from a phone book. Some of the information, such as his telephone number, was incorrect. There was nothing of value in the report: no criminal history, no credit history, no employment history. The website was deceptive. I called their customer service dept, and was told there was a no refund policy. They did not even offer me any credit towards future services.Desired Settlement: REFUND for useless product!
Ripoff- deceptive website advertising!

Response:
On 1/9/2014 customer made a purchase for $49.95 for a comprehensive background check that provides information based on a public records. On 1/9/2014 she request a refund over the phone and did not agree to give us a chance to re run search for her again to provide her with information she needed. On 1/9/2014 per her request a supervisor made an outbound and agreed to provided a onetime refund of $49.95 as a courtesy.
Review: I had a number of charges made to my account from Sept 2012 until Feb 2014.These charges were not made by me and I would like refunds for the chargesDesired Settlement: approx $600.00
Business
Response:
We have reviewed our files and our
records show that an order for a search was conducted by this customer on 9/13/2012. At that
time they had a choice to accept a special discounted price available with a
monthly membership or the full price for the search without membership. The membership option was affirmatively
selected by them. That membership
provided a three day trial to try our services.
Our membership service provides unlimited searches and other features
for a monthly fee. This is clearly and
conspicuously disclosed on the initial order selection page. Then the consumer is provided with an entire
page outlining the terms of the membership which clearly and conspicuously
states that after the initial trial, unless the consumer cancels the service
the service will continue monthly and the card they provided will be charged
until they tell us to cancel their membership to avoid future charges. The membership is mentioned no less than
three times on three pages before the order is complete.
For the period of his membership the customer was charged
each month. During that time, our customer service was available to take the cancellation
or discuss the charges at any time. If a customer contacts us to report an unauthorized charge we take it very seriously. Rather than receiving contact from the customer first, on 2/19/2014 we received a dispute from the credit card company. Per their request, we submitted documentation of the product selected and the signup process. They made a decision on the validity of the charges given the information we provided. On 3/6/2014 we received notification that American Express had ruled in our favor and found the charges to be valid.
Because of the dispute resolution through American Express we are unable to issue any refunds for these transactions. We did not receive a contact from the customer until 3/12/2014, 17 months after the membership was initiated and almost a month after the card company ruled in our favor. The representative advised the customer over the phone on 3/12/2014 how the charges came to be and the dispute process. In conclusion, the account is closed, there will be no further automatic billing and we
are unable to process any refunds.

Response:
Again if a customer contacts us to report unauthorized use we take it very seriously. We would have liked to discuss this matter with you over the phone any time during the 17 months of billing. Our Customer Care department is available to speak with at the phone number listed next to our charge seven days a week. We received only one direct contact from you on 3/12/2014. Unfortunately, this was after we received notification of a chargeback initiated through American Express on 2/19/2014. Whether you did not mean to sign up or someone else used your credit card information over a year ago, the charges have been put under dispute through American Express. Due to the dispute process you initiated with them, we are unable to process any refunds on this account.
Review: I asked for a copy of a marriage license. They indicated there was one and to pay almost $10. I could not read the whole page. They did not supply the information claiming NYS wouldn't allow it.I asked to cancel the charge. They would not as it says somewhere on the page that NY wouldn't allow it. Why then did they say they had information? Why can I not cancel it? I think they are as bogus as any ripoff artist.Desired Settlement: They owe me almost $10. They purposely have a deceptive ad and an unreadable page. They are preditors.

We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. When you order a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. We are unable to provide a refund, but we will be happy to offer you a free search to help you find the facts you need. Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.

The charge of $9.95 is for us to run a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. We are only a distributor of public record information so we cannot guarantee it's accuracy. Whether results are found or not People Finders pays for access to the public record file. This is why, as stated in our Terms of Use, we do not offer refunds for the product you ordered. The free courtesy search will remain on your account until it is used. You may elect to have that free exchange search ran at any time. Just call our number and a representative will run your search for you, free of charge. For convenience, we have included a link to our Public Record page below. Review: I looked for information on my father, a World War II Veteren..deceased.PeopleFinders.com popped up. I clicked on my fathers name [redacted]. It had inaccurate information there (did not include my two older sisters) So that public information was wrong. However..I wanted to see if I could learn more about his record of life. I paid 2.95. After I paid with my card a screen popped up to have his name again. I clicked on that and it came up with more payment options. I called customer service to find out that after I paid 2.95 they had no public records on him other then what I saw BEFORE I paid the 2.95. I believe this is a loop hole to collect money from people. If I did it and a few 100 did it they would have 295.00 free and clear. If they had a thousand people unknowingly do it the they would collect more. I would like my 2.95 refunded and to have their advertisement clearer on the fact that "this is all the information we have" before you pay. I hope to hear soon on what you feel is appropriate.Thank You,Marie [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to have their wording changed. Response:
We offer a free preliminary search to ensure you are aware of the information available upon purchase. The information available for this listing before purchase only states his name, age, city and state, and three possible relatives. After completing your $2.95 purchase a full Public Records Report was generated. We have reviewed your purchased report and found it includes exact contact information such as his exact date of birth, full address, and current phone number. It also has results for Birth Records, Death Records, Marriage Records, Divorce Records, Bankruptcies Tax Liens and Judgments, Unclaimed Money and Property Ownership. This information is not available prior to purchase. If a category displays the message "[redacted] No Records Found [redacted]" this means we found no publicly reported records matching the criteria in the United States.
If you were unable to view this report it is still available in your account. Every report you order is available at PeopleFinders.com for 90 days. To view your report, please login to your account at PeopleFinders.com/login, then click the “My Reports” link in the upper right corner of the page. You will be shown a list every report you’ve ordered. You can click on any of the reports to view them online.

I
am rejecting this response because: this Peoplefinders.com is pure BS. They do
not deliver what they promise. They are no better than old time Snake Oil
Salesmen in modern internet garb. The fact that I was able to find another
internet search engine that did provide the information I requested for free
tells me that Peoplefinders.com failed to provide to me information that
apparently is readily available.
Review: This company is a total scam. They have charged my credit card for $99.80. I thought I was paying just .95 cents as that what was advertised. I called the company and they basically said "too bad, we are not refunding you." This company SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE MY MONEY REFUNDED. When I spoke with the company they could see that I had only once requested a name to be looked-up yet they felt I should be charged that amount of money.

Response:
At the time of purchase you chose to receive a discounted price of $0.95 instead of the normal price of $1.95. As stated on the initial product selection page and every page of checkout, the discounted product is marked down because it comes with a 3 day trial to our Membership. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:
•People Searches – Get the facts you need to find anyone, anywhere
•Email Searches – Obtain email addresses, or learn about the owner of any address
•Social Profile Searches – See updates on all of your friend’s social profiles in one spot
•Marriage Searches – Find out if a man or woman has ever been married
•Divorce Searches – Check the divorce status of any man or woman
•Property Searches – Learn about any piece of property, including the current owner and value
You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone.
We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this 3 day trial. The trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee of $24.95 on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Per your request over the phone on 10/8/2014, and as a courtesy, we granted one refund of $24.95 for the most current month of membership.
Per this complaint we will grant one additional refund of $24.95. Please allow 2-5 business days for these refunds to process back into your credit or debit card.
The monthly charge of $24.99 is for PeopleFinders Rewards program. The PeopleFinders Rewards program allows you to receive discounted prices on the many of the reports offered on our website. This extra service is presented to our customers through a full-page offer directly after checkout. Users may either accept or decline the offer. Our records you affirmatively enrolled in this additional membership by checking a box accepting the automatic renewal terms and clicking "Sign me up for PeopleFinders Rewards" instead of declining the offer.
PeopleFinders Rewards members also have access to-
* Free self-background checks every month
* Free family safety alerts show registered sex offenders in your neighborhood
We did not receive notification that you wished to cancel this within your 7 day trial period, therefore you were billed $24.99. Per your request over the phone on 10/8/2014 we refunded one charge of $24.99 as a courtesy.
In conclusion we have granted a total of $74.89 in refunds as a courtesy, the account is closed and there will be no further automatic billing. The remaining membership fees on this account are non-refundable per the Terms you agreed to.
Review: I was trying to do a background check for our church. I was misled by advertising on a we page stating $9.95 for 6 months. It ended up being 9.95 per month, so I was charged $59.60. When I called, the agent I spoke to was great. He refunded me before I hung up and I purchased the recommended package for $19.95. I tried to find the background report I was looking for. This particular system could not locate the person I needed. I called seeking help. The agent I spoke to was [redacted], agent # [redacted]9. [redacted] informed me she could "not magically make it appear" and further she repeated about 6 times although I can't find the report I need, nor can she, that I cannot receive a refund because I already received one today. After she treated me like I was inadequate, I asked to speak to a supervisor, hoping to resolve the situation. She transferred me to a voicemail. It's clear they get a lot of complaints and do not have proper resources in place to handle. All I wanted was the record I needed, or a refund. I was courteous and polite. Please be sure they do not do this to others.Desired Settlement: A refund. I spent several hours working with them on this and based on their unwillingness to work with me, I made contact elsewhere and got what I needed in ten minutes.

The product you initially selected is advertised by stating "5 Months of UNLIMITED Searches $9.95/mo ($59.70 Today)." Our records show that you selected the product and proceeded through checkout. Charges are normally non-refundable per the Terms of Use you agreed to. Our records indicate that when you called the representative, he advised that one month of membership by itself is $19.95. In order to receive the $9.95/mo price you need to purchase the full 6 months at $59.70. The representative made a one-time exception to our Terms and granted a refund of $59.70. You then proceeded to purchase a one month period of the same membership at $19.95. Given that you are purchasing the ability to run unlimited searches for a set amount of time, our Terms do not allow for refunds. When you order a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result.
Every report you order is available at PeopleFinders.com in your My Reports section. To view your report, please login to your account at PeopleFinders.com/login, then click the “My Reports” link in the upper right corner of the page. You will be shown a list every report you’ve ordered. You can click on any of the reports to view them online. Your report may have several tabs, and you can click each one of them to see more information. If you would like a permanent copy, click the “Print Version” icon and you will be shown a printable version of your report.

Review: Business charged credit card without consent. Monthly billing charges, not agreed to, in the amount of $24.95. Total billing occurred over 6 months, between July 29, 2015 and December 31, 2014. Original transaction of $.97 and $.98 was on July 25, 2014; the purchase was to look up a single record. Total unauthorized charged amount was $147.70. Company offered 'courtesy' refund of past two transaction $49.90. Company refused to refund remaining balance; company refused to provide liability carrier information; company refused to provide COI; company refused to provide Federal Tax ID number. I advised business that the billing credit card had been cancelled. Company refused to issue check refund; company insisted refund would process with canceled credit card.Desired Settlement: I would like to have all disputed moneys refunded to me.

Our records show on 7/24/2014 an order for a search was placed by you. A $1.95 People Search Report was selected and you continued to complete this purchase. Directly after checkout, a full page offer for a three day trial to our membership was displayed. You had the option to either accept or decline this offer. Our records show you affirmatively selected to enroll by clicking the button that read "YES" instead of "No thanks" It clearly and conspicuously states that after the 3 day trial, the monthly membership fee of $24.95 would be charged to the credit/debit card on file. It explained that you may cancel anytime to avoid the monthly membership fee. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:•People Searches – Get the facts you need to find anyone, anywhere•Email Searches – Obtain email addresses, or learn about the owner of any address•Social Profile Searches – See updates on all of your friend’s social profiles in one spot•Marriage Searches – Find out if a man or woman has ever been married•Divorce Searches – Check the divorce status of any man or woman•Property Searches – Learn about any piece of property, including the current owner and valueYou had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone. We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Per your initial request over the phone on 1/10/2015, six months after the membership was initiated, we closed your account and granted two refunds for the membership as a courtesy. Earlier today, per your request over the phone, a supervisor agreed to refund two additional membership fees. In conclusion, you have received four refunds totaling $99.80 your account is closed and you will be responsible for the remaining two months of membership.

I am rejecting this response because:I purchased a $1.95 people search report. As I continued to complete my purchase, you assert that I accepted your offer for a three day trial membership. The evidence you provided was a screenshot of your businesses webpage, that appears to indicate that users are forced to decline this "offer" in order to access their already purchased record. I see no other evidence that I selected this offer.I received one receipt, via email, from your business dated July 24, 2014. Please find attached. I received no emails regarding a "three day trial membership" nor emails detailing monthly billing; I was billed for over a period of 6 months and received no receipts or further emails from your business until I contacted your business on 1/9/2015. It is my contention that your business attempts to deceive people into accepting your "offer" of automatic billing. I further contend that your business does not provide further documentation in the attempt to conceal this deceptive billing. As you stated in your reply to my original complaint, your business has returned approximately $99.80, of the total $149.60 billed. It is my belief that a business does not return money earned in good faith. It is my belief that your business has a policy of automatically billing customers without authorization and returning portions of moneys billed upon receipt of complaints. Nevertheless, I see no evidence, either a real or electronic signature, that I agreed to your business's offer. I demand all moneys automatically billed by your company, the remaining $49.80, to be returned. I agree that I authorized a single purchase of $1.95.

While we understand it was not your intention to enroll in our Membership as we have said our records show the option you chose on PeopleFinders.com was to enroll. You failed to contact us to cancel for six months. We have issued refunds for four months as a courtesy and there are no further refunds available to you per the Terms you agreed to online. Too much time has passed for the previous two months of Membership fees to be refunded. Feel free review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you have any questions about refunds or other policies. We feel we have already addressed your other concerns.
Review: This company started charging me for services I never requested since May 15 2015. When I first found out it was the last week of June. I contacted my Credit company ([redacted]) and told them I had fraudulent charges in my account from PeopleFinders. At that point [redacted] credited my account. About 3 weeks later (mid July) I noticed more charges from peoplefinders, I called [redacted] and was told that since May 15, 2015 I had been charged with small amounts first then started charging me $24.95 and $24.99which I disputed because I never used this website to find people.I contacted peoplefinders and they refused to talk to me telling me they closed the account and I did not owed them nothing and that it was my credit card the one who was taking my money. When I contacted [redacted] again, I was told people finders is still stating I owe them $49.98.I am very upset about all this issue. This company, People finders seem like a shifty company because they keep saying I owe them for services I never requested.Desired Settlement: These people finders need to stop harassing me stating I owe them money for services I never asked for.

At the time of purchase on 5/15/2015, instead of selecting the regular priced report on PeopleFinders.com ($1.95) you chose to receive a discounted price ($0.95) for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Membership. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:•People Searches – Get the facts you need to find anyone, anywhere•Email Searches – Obtain email addresses, or learn about the owner of any address•Marriage Searches – Find out if a man or woman has ever been married•Divorce Searches – Check the divorce status of any man or woman•Property Searches – Learn about any piece of property, including the current owner and valueYou had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone. We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Instead of initially contacting us you have already disputed them with your card company. Due to the dispute, you are given a conditional refund by your bank; therefore we cannot offer you a refund. At this point your financial institution has reviewed the charges for validity and found them to be valid. As you chose to dispute the charges with your card company, you will need to follow their policies and procedures regarding these charges.

I am rejecting this response because: it is completely untrue. I never contacted this company whatsoever to request their services. I have no idea how they claim I did. If they took my money without making sure first it was me who was requesting their services, it is not my fault, therefore is not responsibility.I am outraged at their response that I accepted these charges.I would like them to give me a written statement where it shows how many times I used their website during those 2 months. If I accepted to pay them $24.99 a month, surely I used their website, I would be stupid to pay them money and not take advantage of their services. They are liars and scammers.[redacted]

Review: I chose to purchase a single phone look-up report, repeatedly opting OUT of a 1 year membership. I was immediately charged for both the single report AND $14.98 for a membership. I immediately emailed them and they have flatly refused to refund the membership fee.
There are numerous other complaints here about the exact same issue with this company.Desired Settlement: I want the $14.98 membership fee credited back to the original credit card that was charged.

Response:
The customer called in to customer care for assistance. During that call they were reminded of the Terms of Use they agreed to at the time of sign up. The $14.95 was for 1 month of service and will not renew as the membership has been canceled per request. The product is not refundable per the Terms of Use.

Our customers do not have to purchase a membership to view their reports. When the membership is offered, there is an option to decline it. As a courtesy we will refund half of the membership. We've issues a refund of $7.49. There will be no further membership renewals.

I will let this particular complain rest HOWEVER, THIS BUSINESSES PRACTICES NEED TO BE REVIEWED. THEY HAVE DUPED TOO MANY PEOPLE AND MADE TO MUCH MONEY THIS WAY.
Review: Although I listed this as billing issues, there are a number of complaints I have for this company. They advertise as find anyone anywhere. I was charged almost $50 for less than a month. The information provided to me was inaccurate and misleading in many ways. The report for the person I was searching included an address almost a decade old. Additionally, there were no reports of this person's employment records or prior arrests as promised in the advertisement. When I called for a refund, the customer service agents I spoke with were rude and dismissive as well as demeaning. I was transferred to a supervisor voicemail with no direction or understanding that this was to happen. I still have not been contacted by a supervisor.Desired Settlement: I would like to be contacted by a supervisor and to receive a refund for the cost incurred for the less than 30 days that I had access to the site. ($10.45 and $29.95) I would also like a clearly visible disclaimer to be evident on the site indicating that the results may not be accurate.

Response:
A supervisor called the customer on 2/22/16 and there was no answer. We left a message on their voicemail. We refunded them in the amount of $29.95. We can only provide the general public with access to Public Record. Employment records are not open to the public, those are not included in our reports. The customer ran a Background Report on [redacted] for $10.45. This service was rendered. Per the Terms of Use there are no refunds on our products. There is a Link to our Terms of Use on our website.

Review: I signed up to pay $2.94 for 1 persons information was charged $24.95 per month for 6 months. I was charged $24.95 from March till Aug 2013
I signed up to pay $2.94 for 1 phone number and was charged $24.95 per month for 6 months.
I was charged $24.95 form March till Aug before I realized they were charging my credit card. I did not use the service and was not aware that I was paying for it.
I also called the peoplefinders company and when they did not register the complain, I had no choice but to inform my bank and cancel the debit card.Desired Settlement: The amount they automatically deducted from my account amounts to around $125, this is a bad practice and should be stopped, automatic membership should not be allowed to take place by the Revdex.com, a lot of people are being troubled because of it

Business' Initial Response
We have reviewed our files and our records show that a search was conducted by [redacted] on 3/25/2013. At that time Ms. [redacted] had a choice to accept a special discounted price available with a monthly membership which allowed unlimited searches or the full price for each individual search without membership. The membership option was affirmatively selected by Ms. [redacted] on 03/25/2013. That membership provided a 3 day trial to try our services.
For the period of her membership Ms. [redacted] was charged each month and our customer service was available to take her cancelation at any time. She did not request contact us until 8/20/2013 through a phone call with a representative, five months after the membership had been activated. In addition, our records show that we received a chargeback, filed with Master Card, on 8/16/2013. This automatically closed her account prior to receiving any contact from her directly. Because the chargeback process has been started we will not provide any refunds for these transactions.
Review: I did a 1 time look up for $1.95 and was charged $24.95 twice before I realized it.
I did a one time look up for $1.95. I never signed up for a trial period, if I had wanted a trial period I would have signed up for that. I noticed on my credit card that I had been charged $24.95 twice. I disputed these charges with Discover and was told by Discover they were legitimate charges. Called Peoplefinders and they told me they would not refund due to the fact that I had not contacted them before the dispute. I believe they led people to make an account and then somewhere in fine print I agreed to a trial period. I honestly did not pay close attention to the info because I had clicked the one time offer. There is a button for a $.95 look up with a free trial period and that is why I did the $1.95 because I did not want the free trial. I believe they mislead and take advantage of the consumer. It doesn't matter if I disputed with my credit card or not. I deserve to have my money refunded.Desired Settlement: I am requesting to be refunded the two charges for $24.95 for a total of $49.90

Initial Business Response
On 7/12/2013 an order for a search was conducted online by [redacted]. At that time, you affirmatively selected to enroll in a trial membership through a full page advertisement after your purchase. The membership coverage and automatic monthly renewal at $24.95 is clearly and conspicuously disclosed in standard text on this advertisement. The consumer may accept or decline the offer. You failed to contact us to cancel this membership or discuss the charges. Rather, your credit card company contacted us on 9/18/2013 asking for information on the charges and advising us on the dispute case being opened with them by you. We complied and provided your card company the circumstances of your enrollment and explanation of the charges as requested. They then made a decision on the validity of the charges and notified you that the case was closed. On 10/5/2013 we received a phone call from you and attempted to advise you why the charges came to be. According to our records the representative confirmed the dispute process had been started through your card company and advised that you would have to follow their policies regarding the charges. In conclusion we did not receive a cancellation of your membership therefore it renewed monthly, the charges are non-refundable per the terms you agreed to, your account is closed and there will be no further automatic billing.
Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I did a one time look up. Why would I agree to a trial membership? I only needed to use this site one time. I realize I will not get my money back but something needs to be done with the company. Check out how many complaints this company has had.
Final Business Response
If your intention was to run only one search on 7/12/2013 then the wrong option was selected. On the membership offer page the option labeled "Yes, Sign me up" was selected instead of "No, don't sign me up" on 7/12/2013. If you do not want membership for unlimited searching you needed to decline the offer. Again your account is closed and there are no further refunds available.
Review: I needed to check on an individual that we are going to do buisness with so I went to their site and bought a month service for back ground checks. Well the info I got back on the individual I knew was wrong so I ran my name through the service. Almost everything it said about me was wrong. So I asked for my money back since they did not provide the service they were advertising. I asked for my money back and they refused. They said they did not refund money but I could do another search for free. I told them no that would not do any good if the information they were giving me was false.Desired Settlement: $ 19.95 refund and a path to were they are going to get better information for future clients.
