Such a quick and easy process. Replacing the transmission in my truck was a breeze...I got a quote and with some research, decided that this company would offer me the best price in the market. I called back the next day and got my transmission ordered. It arrived quickly and my truck has been running perfectly ever since.

Worked with a man named Derek and was very pleased with the experience. Recently had an engine blow in my ford and it could not have been worse timing. Derek's professionalism and attentiveness made the process very pleasant and less stressful than I thought it would be.

A shipping label was sent to the mechanic and the engine was returned 12/10/2018. I spoke with Josh and he told me the check for full refund was in the mail 01/08/2019. I call again on January 19, and he sent me a check stub dated January 18, 2019. with a refund #XXXXX for full amount and said it was in the mail. purch. new transmission from Powertrain Direct incl. 3 yr., 75,000 mi. warranty. Trans.not working upon installation, Powertrain not honoring warranty
2008 Ch
12/6/18 - Purch.New transmission from Powertrain Direct Order#XXXXX-MOV via SalesMgr.***, paid $2,449.*** said all working parts were 100% new and that all required was pro install, trans fluid fill & done. 30 days allowed for core return.
12/13/18 Trans arrived at Expert Car Care-Orlando
12/15 & 17: Trans installed, immediately upon startup problem ticking noise noted from trans. Mechanic double checked ALL, drained, examined and replaced trans fluid but problem still persisted, so they called in outside exclusive transmission expert to examine, who confirmed install was 100% correct and trans was faulty.
12/18/18 I drove 5 hrs. round trip to mechanic shop where van was to witness ticking problem & talk with mechanic & shop owner.
12/19/18 I contacted *** @ Powertrain, who turned me over to "customer service" who wrote complaint ticket#SXXXXXXX.Next few days I heard back from David, Josh, & Jackson(PwrtrnCust.Serv)...Jackson asked if either:
1.) a new radiator or
2.) an external trans. cooler was added during the trans install...if not, the warranty would be void". I asked why, Powertrain said an orange sheet was attached to the trans. shipping crate stating 1 of the 2 must be done or the warranty was voided by Movaris. I asked:
1)Why add'l. equip needed? Jackson said it was to insure trans did not overheat, that a old and new radiator has a trans cooler built inside. I responded it was the first I was aware (*** specifically said no add'l parts were required to install the trans) and the garage never even read the sheet until after the install, as they'd installed over 1,000 transmissions over 20+ years and NEVER seen language requiring new radiator or additional trans cooler be installed.
2) Who is Movaris? I now find out Powertrain did in fact NOT rebuild this transmission, instead they had a 3rd party named Movaris rebuild it, and THEY were the ones requiring the radiator or cooler addition in order to preserve the warranty.
Seeing Powertrain was steadfast in denying my warranty and any responsibility for my broken "new" transmission, I asked Expert Car Care who the most respected trans. seller/rebuilder in the Orlando area was, being Sams Wholesal Transmission
12/22: Expert transported car to Sams, who diagnosed the faulty Powertrain Trans and found the Torque Converter was clearly defective as supplied by Powertrain... note, I have written confirmation on my Powertrain order that the Torque Converter would be 100% new. Sams repaired Torq.Conv. and transmission ran perfectly after replacing the faulty torq.conv. Sams owner issued me a written statement that Powertrain Torq. converter was clearly faulty...I supplied said letter to Powertrain (***-sales director, Josh Perez-Gen'l.Mgr,. ***-Salesman)who all "acted" like theyd try to pursue my claim, but accomplished nothing.
Ironically, Sams and the internet both confirmed that there is NO internal trans cooler built into the radiator on my make/model, so a new radiator install could not have helped with cooling anyway.
1/5/19 Van trans was repaired, so I drove it home.
1/25/19 I made one last plea to Josh-Pwrtrain Mgr. after having been "strung along" by ***-"I'll get back to you, but never does"...I told him if I did not hear anything back from him by Mon. 1/28/19 I would pursue Revdex.com action...if no help there, I'd go to State Attny Genl. office or Small Claims...NO ANSWER EVER RECEIVED FROM JOSH.
$2,449 Cost of 100% rebuilt trans
$1,000 Install Cost rebuilt, found to be defective
$1,508.66 Remove bad Pwrtrn trans, replace Torq.Converter, reinstall transmission

My Damages:
1) (30)vs. (7) days vehicle loss of use of my vehicle. Min. 10 hrs. phone calls
2) $1,508.66 Cost to repair Powertrains problem
3) (2) vs. (1) 5 hr. drives/tolls to Orlando
4) My transmissions 3 yr/75k warranty is now void, per Powertrain, who continually has painted Movaris as the "bad guy".I paid for warranty. My contract is with Powertrain.

Desired Outcome

$1,5508.66 cost to redo faulty trans. $500.00 time, extra trips, hassle Reinstatement of the transmission warranty I was promised.

Powertrain Direct Response • Mar 14, 2019

we have no doubt that your shop has a lot of experience installing transmissions, but upon receiving this order the installation instructions were provided and should have been read. The warranty is never through Powertrain Direct, it is always through the manufacturer of the transmission. The warranty packet even has the manufacturer's name on it, not Powertrain Direct. We have tried to be the liaison between you and the warranty department. Unfortunately we cannot help you out with this issue since you verbally stated your shop did not follow the instructions. Thank you for your business, if you ever need anything else we would be happy to give you a discount on your next purchase.

Customer Response • Mar 15, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I purchased transmission from Powertrain Direct, who portrayed themselves as being the rebuilder...their website shows "their" factory rebuilding. When I purchased, No mention of 3rd party rebuilder, nor install instructions being provided, nor written warranty. Denial basis was that warranty sheet attached to transmission said warranty was void if installer did not also install either a new radiator or trans cooler to avoid overheating...they claim radiator hss built in trans cooler, which Dodge dealer says "NO".
I WILL TAKE THEM TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR MISREPRESENTATION OF PRODUCT AND GHOST WARRANTY, WHICH I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF. I KEPT ALL DATES, TIMES AND CONTACTS RE ENTIRE PROCESS...THEY ARE DISHONEST AND HAVE MISREPRESENTED THEIR PRODUCT AS " JUST INSTALL IT AND GO, NOTHING ELSE REQUIRED" YOU CANNOT ADD RESTRICTIONS TO A WARRANTY UNILATERALLY...THATS NOT HOW AMERICAN LAW WORKS. THE FIRST I HEARD OF THEIR WRITTEN WARRANTIES EXISTENCE WAS AFTER THE TRANS WAS INSTALLED AND DEEMED INOPERABLE BY (3) INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PROFESSIONALS. I AM BEGINNING A SMALL CLAIMS ACTION AGAINST POWERTRAIN THIS WEEK AND WILL REPORT TO Revdex.com MY OUTCOME, WHICH I AM QUITE CERTAIN WILL BE A JUDGEMENT AGAINST POWERTRAIN.

Powertrain Direct Response • Mar 20, 2019

installation instructions always come in the crate along with warranty info. The info was there for your mechanic to read, but as you have stated over the phone to us before, your shop did not read the installation instructions. Customer's commonly ask for the written warranty and installation instructions before purchasing, and we are always happy to send this info to your email address. We always want our customers to be comfortable with what they are purchasing.

Customer Response • Mar 25, 2019

Ive already responded...Powertrains response is not to acknowlege they are hiding being a 3rd party which I was unaware of at time of purchase AND that the feel its logical to Never Have offered nor issued their wtitten warranty to me...instead they attached it like a packing slip to the transmission shop located 2 hrs away from me...NEVER having informed me of such until AFTER the transmission was installed and deemed defective, causing me to call them for warranty assistance. Crooked business, plain and simple...we'll let Small Claims Court find out who the wronged party really is.

They have not refunded me for returning engine core. Have been calling them since September 2018, but they never send it after promising.
Ordered rebuilt engine in August 2018, mechanic here installed. Sent old engine core back to them in September 2018, which they confirmed. They were supposed to send me a $125 refund when they got my old core. I've called them dozens of times, keep getting promises that the check is on the way. They have yet to refund me for the core.

Desired Outcome

Have them send me the check for my old core ($125.00).

Powertrain Direct has not refunded the $450.00 core charge.
An engine was purchased and paid for on 7/22/18 for $3220.00, which included a refundable $450.00 core charge. The core engine was returned 9/10/18. I called Powertrain Direct on 11/12/18 and was told by Josh that the credit should have been done long ago, but he will credit the paying credit card that day. No credit. Called 11/26/18, and left a message. No return call. Called 11/27/18, left on hold 15 minutes. Called again 11/27/18, talked to Josh, informed me the check was being mailed. Still no check. Called 12/11/18, talked to Josh. Was told the check was being mailed 12/14/18. Still no check. Called 1/2/19, talked to Hanna. Said the check would be mailed 1/14/19. Today 1/22/19 still no check. How many times does one have to call to get the refundable core check?

Desired Outcome

Please refund the $450.00 core deposit.

Have not received my money for core deposit of truck motor after 11 weeks since the motor was returned.
I bought a motor on 9/21/18 from this company and was told that after I returned the old motor I would received my core deposit back after 4-6 weeks of the return. After seven weeks of the return motor I called on 12/18/18 and talk to Josh. Josh said the check would be mailed on 12/20/18. I never received the check so on 1/3/19 I called company again and talked to Josh. He then stated the check was mailed on 1/2/19. It is now 1/19/19 and still have not received a check for the core deposit

Desired Outcome

I want to get my check for $410.00 for core charge deposit.

Powertrain Direct Response • Mar 14, 2019

we are sorry about the the time you had to wait for the core deposit check, thank you for being patient with us. Our records show you were refunded on January 29th, 2019. Again, thank you for your business!

Customer Response • Mar 16, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

I have been trying to get the core engine money that was charged to my credit card back for over 2 months. Getting the run around.
My husband brought an engine for Powertrain Direct on September 22, 2018. He was told that an additional $450.00 would be held from my credit card until the his engine was received by them. That it would take 6-8 weeks for the return after the engine is received.Everything was sent back and my husband began the process of calling to see when the core money would be returned. My husband spoke with Derek J numerous times about this, where he was transferred to customer service, where you get a Josh, who says that your money will be mailed. And nothing has come yet. I started calling, because it is my credit card that this is drawing interest on. I am getting the same run around. Today I spoke with Katie ***, who informed me that everyone in customer service is sick, so she could not give me a manager. I don't know a company that has no management onsite to take care of an issue that may arise. I work in customer service, and I would not dare tell a customer that there is no one there to help them. My next steps after tomorrow will be to get a lawyer. My husband did all the steps, he was told to do. They had no issues getting their money, and I shouldn't have any getting mine back.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking the $450.00 core engine payment that was charged to my credit card for my husbands old engine that they received. My husband's order # was XXXXX. Derek, Josh and Katie all said that it should have been returned. But nothing has come in the mail or returned to my card. I am very frustrated with the whole situation. You are unable to reach anyone when you want to complain. And this is going on 2 months. They are giving us the run around. And I see on the website that others have made the same complaint. This is no way to treat customers.

Salesman lied to get more money, and still didn't deliver in time on guaranteed day.
Please Never Use This Company!!! Share and make them famous!
My husband ordered a transmission on 12/12/2018. The salesman Matt called in back within an hour and said he had a more expensive transmission that was ready to ship because the first transmission was about a week and half out. Knowing my husband was stranded in Pennsylvania and wanted to be home for Christmas. He guaranteed the transmission to be delivered on 12/20/18. A few days later he received an email stating it was in build mode. So we called and was still guarantee to be there on the 20th. After the next few days there was no update. We tried contacting them several times no answer, no response, no call back. We'r had to rent a car to get him home in time for Christmas. Finally on 12/26/18 We spoke with Josh. He said he would get the original transmission( the cheaper one) sent out and refund us the difference. Well never a call back nothing. Next day got ahold of Corprate office. After several hours and lots of cussing. They shipped us out a transmission to be delivered on 1/2/19. The transmission was delivered. Today the mechanic called and said if he doesn't replace parts then the company (power train direct) will void the warranty. He can't get the parts for another week. So now we can either let the mechanic just put in the transmission in with out the parts and void the warranty or wait another week and half and my husband and son loose their jobs. The company knew about the time frame we were under that's why we paid for the more expensive transmission to be there on the 20th. Not only that now my husband has to drive back to Pennsylvania to pick up the truck and do a complete turn around back to Texas for his job. This company has lied and cost us a *** of a lot more money then it should have.

Desired Outcome

We would like our money reimbursed ..for the difference of the cheaper transmission. Reimbursement of the rental car the fuel bank and forth from Pennsylvania bank to texas and back. And we want a warranty on this transmission. We will also be looking into a lawyer.

Powertrain Direct Response • Mar 14, 2019

we did sell you on a transmission that is a little more expensive after your salesperson advised you about the approximate build times on both transmissions and gave you the option to choose whichever one you wanted. This is an extremely unfortunate circumstance which does not happen very often, but build times are approximate. The transmission you received was the same one you paid for, and the warranty on it clearly states that you need to replace some parts for your warranty to be valid. You agreed to all of the conditions, and we have been more than happy to comply, however we cannot refund you for any other issue that the delay in build time caused being around the Christmas holiday. Thank you again for your business, if you need anything else in the future please give us another chance, we would be happy to give you a discount.

Trying to get core deposit from engine purchase.
On 09/17/2018 I purchased an engine from Powertrain Direct. Confirmation # XXXXX-MOV. The cost of the engine was $1835.00 item # DCM9, the core deposit was $435.00.I also purchased a install kit for $350.00. This was paid by credit card. The sales rep was Derek P. I had the engine delivered to our mechanic. They promised a 3-5 business delivery. It actually took 10 business days. I had made a appointment with our mechanic for our vehicle to be there the same time the engine would arrive. That didn't happen. I was a little upset, but things happen. On the receipt they sent me it said core deposit would be 4-6 weeks after core engine was returned. I have called countless times only to get sent to voice mail. Have left several messages and even e-mails as directed on voice mail. I have not received one call or e-mail. The number for customer service is (XXX)XXX-XXXX. All I want is our core deposit returned. It says on paper work a check will be delivered to the billing address. This has been going on for at least 3 weeks. Anything you can do will be appreciated.

Desired Outcome

Refund Contact from Power Train Direct and a check for my engine core deposit in the amount of $435.00.

Powertrain Direct Response • Mar 14, 2019

we do not have a Jackolynn Myers at our company and that phone number is not associated with us. You received your engine on 6/18/18 and it was not returned to the correct facility until 8/23/18. This is far past the allotted 30 days you were given and agreed to on the terms and conditions in your invoice. Your invoice clearly states, "You are responsible to have your core back at the correct facility within 30 days in order to receive your core return deposit." Powertrain Direct thanks you for your business, we wish you were within the time frame your terms and conditions specified and wish you all the best.

Customer Response • Mar 15, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I called Powertrain direct multiple times re getting the core back because my mechanic was delayed. Both JacksonI. and the core dept. said just keep us informed and call when it's ready for pick up.
Any number or name of persons I received from individuals from Powertrain direct.

BEST ONLINE EXPERIENCE EVER! I bought a 5.4L engine last week from Powertrain Direct (Alex was the sales rep), I got the best quote after calling 10 different companies! Supposedly there's new management and man oh man have things gotten better! I bought an engine for my wife in August, and even though my core payment was delayed back then, the new managers personally gave me a call on my cellphone and made sure I'd be getting it back. Stand up guys and if I ever have engine/transmission problems again, I will definitely be giving Alex and Powertrain Direct a call!!
Thank you so much, David.

Powertrain Direct Response • Dec 20, 2018

Thank you so much, ***! It was a pleasure doing business with you. We're always here if you ever need us again.

-Powertrain Direct

From what I understand there has been a change of ownership of Powertrain and that may be why the experience I had was vastly better than the previous reviews. On November 30th I ordered a 5.4L engine for my F-150. The sales representative (Derek) was extremely kind and knowledgeable. He was even willing to speak directly with my mechanic and answer any of the questions that he had. I truthfully price shopped around the market and you CANNOT get a better PRICE than these guys! Their website advertises a "Best Price Guarantee" and that is absolutely true. I got 4 different quotes and Derek helped me match the best price that I got. The reps are not stingy and they look forward to building a long-lasting relationship. I just received my core refund today and I am very pleased. Before I purchased I had a concern that I would not receive my core refund because of the reviews I read on here - however, the new owner/operator of the company personally gave me a call and gave me his word that I would be getting the check. This place is headed back in the right direction from what I can tell! Thank you Derek and thank you Powertrain Direct.
Sincerely, ***.

Company did not follow through with what was said in previous months.
I purchased a rebuilt engine from Power train in August. I had chosen this company because they were able to deliver an engine a few days before the other companies I had researched. I needed the engine for my contrating business. The engine was to be delivered to the auto shop on Tuesday and they were going to start installing it that day. The shop called Tuesday evening stating the engine did not arrive. I called Powertrain and they stated that it would be there Thursday or Friday. Still no engine by then. Called them on Saturday and they said it would be there Monday for sure. They did not really have any answers to why it was not there the first two dates they gave me. I had been dealing with Josh from powertrain and he stated that once the core was returned, they would refund core and more because of the huge delay in shipping. The core has now been returned for months and still have not received the core refund. My wife called 3 times last week and left messages. Finally today she called the sales department and they answered. They stated they didn't know why the core refund was not sent back and all they could offer was $100 more because there was nothing in the computer about extra for the delay in shipping. Not only have I had to wait months for my core charge back (plus they said they can't send a check out for another 4 days because apparently their mail guy only comes on Fridays) and they did not follow through with what they had stated when I bought the engine. It's not even about the money lost from their shipping mistakes. It's about the fact that they do not follow through with what they say and their only answer to their mistakes is that they "don't know what happened". If I had never called about the core charge, they would have kept it for sure. Poor business ethics.

Desired Outcome

I'm looking for your company to actually follow through with what they say and not use the excuse "we don't know why that happened" for every mistake. When I spoke with Josh during the shipping issue, he stated that more than just 100 would be re funded for the many days of lost work due to your companies mistake. You have also had the actually core refund for way longer than you should have.

Scammers, terrible customer service and I am in The process of suing them for a $700 core charge they never refunded. Never use this company

Ordered an engine they said delivery in 3 days no later than 5 wasn't shipped in 10 cancelled order they stole my money
On October 17th I ordered a 5.4 triton ford engine for my truck sales rep *** order number XXXXX said it would deliver in as early as 3 days and no later than 5 after 5 days I called for tracking info and it hadn't shipped.Called back 4 days later it still hadn't shipped after being assured it would be 4 days earlier. Called back the next day and cancelled order but no one could tell me how to get my money back. 3 days later I get tracking info sent to me after canceling the order having already obtained another engine. Called them back to tell them to stop the delivery because I had cancelled 3 days earlier and since this time it has been nothing but a huge run around over my money no one there is authorized to do anything but steal your money they can't return it we spoke to Derek ,Jackson ***, *** supposed customer service mgr josh and nothing but empty promises this business is nothing more than a scam in my opinion DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these people they are crooks I still don't have my money back it's now November 30th

Desired Outcome

REFUND

***,

Let me start by saying that your chargeback has been granted and your account has already been credited a full refund. I deeply apologize for the miscommunication you have had. Powertrain Direct is now under new ownership and management and we have established new process to prevent this from ever happening again. Thank you for understanding and if you have anymore questions please ask for Armin or Luke who are the new Managers of the company.

Best

FAIR WARNING!!!! Anyone that uses powetrain direct beware they will not pay you for your core. They drug out a $650.00 core on an engine that I bought and when they finally sent a check it bounced and I am now out $665.00 instead of the original $650.00. Every time that I call they give me the run around and no supervisor will ever get on the phone. I have emailed as well and never received a reply. Worst company I have ever dealt with.
