I'm currently the owner of an upstart I have been working on my concept now for a bit over two years now Just recently, about a year, I've been in the fund raising stages of my concept I decided to open a business account with TCF because they had the best merchant account terms I started my account with a hefty figure sum, multiple checks, from my very first investor That initial transaction went well and my dealings with the bank went well the very first year Here's where it all changes On 4/10/I went to deposit an investment we received It was an even bigger deposit, figures to be exact What a nightmare experience from the start First, the teller at the branch I went to was very skeptical of my deposit It was about 10-checksI told him it was a large deposit when he asked "how much is it?" I said the figure and I got that blank stare that said he was trying to process what I just said He went to prepare a deposit slip as I arranged the checks to pass them along to him He then asks "how much do you think you have there?" That line of questioning threw me off Is this not a financial institution? Do we deal in approximates? I said " I don't think I have this amount, I know I have this amount" I'll jump ahead a bit After many phone calls and one horrible visit to a different branch they still will not release the funds and have frozen my account completely They have taken money that cleared a year ago and have placed a hold on the entire commercial account No one on the phone or at the branch can give me a path to resolution Keep in mind they have verified with the issuers bank and have reached out TWICE to the issuer himself to verify the checks TCF has the funds and will not release themWe are on day of this They sent me a written letter stating they have the funds and they will be made available on the 17th Never happened! The bank stated they reserve the right to review any deposit and freeze an entire account if the chose to Buyer Beware!!! If you read this and decide to do business there you have what's coming to you

Right now with my TCF Bank Choice checking account, I pay $per day if I overdraw on my checking account, even if it is items, the total amount charged to may account is $Starting 1/18/2018, TCF is converting all TCF Bank Choice checking accounts to TCF Free Checking accountsThis means each customer will be charged $per transaction overdrawn, up to $per dayIf you overdraw on a gas purchase for $35, and you buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks for $2, you are billed twice for $over overdrawing on items to total $If you buy a pack of gum for $.99, you are charged another $37, and so on and so on, until you hit $I believe this is an unfair business practice and is a way for TCF to make money off of fees

Normally tcf bank takes days to process a check expected when you have no money it clears in oneI called customer service when I pressed the supervisor how long does it take for a check to clear.Justin the so call supervisor told me he couldn't answer the question because it all dependsThis is the second time I have had major problem with ovrr draft fee the last time they charge me times for I called customer service on I am closing my account after being a customer for yearsBecause the supervisor tried to over talk me and would not give me a chance to explain the problem.The supervisor already had his talking points

On 4/1/there was $3,taken out of my checking account that I didn't know about or notified of TCF said "if I get this reversed they will reimburse all charges on my account On 5/5/the $3,was redeposited I then asked since the money was put back in when will I get my charges reimbursed? TCF changed their mind and did NOTHING!!

Checking my bank statement and I noticed discrepancies! This bank charges RIDICULOUS overdraft fees for purchases that shows that do not add upI was charged two overdraft fees recently for a transaction dated on Sept 2nd and 6thIt is extremely unfair!!! When I contacted customer service, they antagonized me-offering me no help!

After moving to the Twin Cities, I got a flyer in the mail with an offer to open a TCF bank account and get a free $pending either direct depositing $or making $worth of payments out of the accountThe flyer was just addressed to current resident at my new apartmentThis flyer came at a good time as I needed a new bank in the Twin Cities as I have most of my money at a small town bank in WisconsinI went to the bank and had to wait over half an hour as there was a customer ahead of me and only one person working the counterThat customer took so long as they were apparently in the middle of a big dispute with TCF about overage chargesThey had paid a TON in overage charges the previous day and now found out they had to pay even more, and even after that there would be another charge from the bankThat customer was not happy and kept making passive aggressive statements about how terrible dealing with TCF isWhen it was finally my turn, I presented the flyer I had been mailedThe person working the counter wanted to see proof of my address to verify that the mailer had been mailed to me as the mailer didn't have my name on itAgain, it just said current residentI had no proof of my address on me as I just moved in, but questioned why I would need it as this was a general offer that has no terms stating you need to verify the address the mailer was sent toThis mailer probably wasn't even meant for me as it was addressed to current resident and it was likely just spam mailed to everyone in my buildingThe person working the counter told me I had to verify my address, otherwise they don't know that the offer was intended for me and I could have stolen it from someone elseSo after hearing how bad the bank was from the customer ahead of me, a long wait, and then being accused of being a thief when I just wanted to give them my money, I leftI discovered that Wells Fargo offers a similar offer to this specific TCF oneI'll be taking my money there insteadHopefully they have better customer service and honor their advertisements

Tcf bank customer service manager lied about moving charges around and charging more overdraft fees than shouldAlso would not remove charges when after they posted still showed a positive balanceHow can you charge an overdraft fee when you deduct the amount from the available balance and hold it to pay the charge and once they settle still leave an available balance? On April 6th I checked both my checking and savings accounts and then found that my checking account was in the negative of I was furiuous called tcf to find out what was going only the lady stated that some purchase had been made in the amount of which confused me because I hadnt made any purchases with my checking account because it had a zero balance and I definately dont need overdraft fees I informed the lady over the phone that my card had been lost or stole maybe two weeks ago and I got it deactivated as soon as I realizedI also stated that those purchases where not mine and I hadnt used my checking account in òver a monthSecondly my issue with this bank is that they allowed four different transactions to be made or withdrawn with no money in the account and I did oupt out for overdrafts transactionsI did end up filing a claim but was told that it could take up to ten bussiness daysI just start getting part of my pay check deposit
