My brother recommended Semper Solaris to my husband and myself. My brother had already done his homework regarding solar panels and installation; he had received several estimates on installation from several popular solar companies in San Diego County. My brother is both very cost and quality conscious; ultimately settling on Semper Solaris for his solar needs at his home, choosing the very best – SunPower solar panels. Senior Sales Representative [redacted] assisted my brother from start to finish with his purchase and installation from Semper Solaris. When my brother shared with us [redacted]’s commitment to providing him with the highest level of customer service and attention; coupled with the fact that my brother had already vetted solar companies in San Diego County for cost and quality products. We knew there was no other choice for us but to contact [redacted] (619) [redacted] at Semper Solaris for solar needs at our home!
We met with [redacted] in late September, he spent a lot of time with us to help us understand how solar works and how to choose the right system for our needs. [redacted] explained to us the difference between leasing and purchasing a solar system, rebates, etc.; he reviewed our electricity usage for the past year and explained to us the number of panels we would need to cover that usage. [redacted] thoroughly explained the entire process: design, SDG&E Renewable Meter Adapter (RMA), installation, any delays we may encounter with SDG&E and the city inspection, etc. He also drew configurations of what the panels would look like on our roof. *here was no pressure during our time with [redacted]. He just provided to us all the information that we needed in order for us to make our own informed decision on purchasing SunPower solar panels. From start to finish, [redacted] was always available to answer questions or address any concerns that we had!
*he Installation Crew was outstanding! *hey were courteous, knowledgeable, professional, hardworking individuals. Although they estimated it would take one day and part of another to install 22 panels, they finished the job in that first day! *hey were available to answer any questions or concerns that we had during the installation process. Our purchase and installation was a very positive experience.
Our timeline was: late September our contract was signed. October – design approved, SDG&E RMA installed, SunPower solar panels installed. November – City Inspection & SDG&E approvals. Early December we were up and running!
Delays occurred with City inspection and SDG&E (that was beyond the control of Semper Solaris) however their great coordination with both agencies, ensuring all paperwork was properly completed and in order went well! Before we were up and running, a gentleman from Semper Solaris came out to ensure our monitoring device was operational. He did a test run of the system and explained in detail all of the components.
We would definitely recommend Semper Solaris and [redacted] to others interested in going solar who want sales honesty and transparency; a quality product, efficient installation and reasonable pricing! Semper Solaris exceeded all of our expectations.
Oh, and by the way, did I mention Semper Solaris also offers discounts for military, police and firefighters? *ell them happy customers – [redacted] & [redacted]. referred you!

Both Mr. and Mrs. “Customer” personally initialed a
stipulation on the contract that “Shade must be removed by customer (Trees)” in
bold writing.
As there were a good amount of complicated...
trees and brush
in the area where they wanted the array we did our best to identify what needed
to be removed and the customers contracted a company to do so.
The customer contacted us in early fall to mention lower
than expected yearly production. We sent
a tech that identified that there was still a good deal of shade hitting the
array. She felt that this was our fault
and we agreed to remove some trees shading the array at a cost of several
thousand dollars which we paid. Peak
daily rate of production immediately jumped nearly 50%. There was still a bit more shade and we had
contracted to have it removed. Sunpower
has assured us that removing the shade would solve the problem. The Customer feels that we must also add
panels. Even though we had agreed to add
panels, if needed, after removing the shade at our expense, she filed this
complaint.
We have agreed to her request to remove the shade AND add
panels.
We have kept in close contact with her every step of the way,
have gone way above what would be required to address the issue, and spent thousands
of dollars. Customer Service is our top
priority.

All those trees were removed and the current sun exposure is 93-95%. The guaranteed power output was based on 95% sun and we are very nearly there, but output numbers are still 25-30% below guaranteed levels. I have agreed to allow Semper Solaris to remove more trees (outside the original parameters), but there is no way that increasing sun exposure by 2% will increase output 25-30%. Sunpower itself has verified they cannot get their models to generate the guaranteed amount of power with the size of system we have, even at 95% sun. Their highest modeled output at 95% sun is still over 1000 kwh/year too low.
I do appreciate Semper Solaris continuing to work towards a satisfactory solution, but have been dissatisfied with how long it has taken (12+ months) and wish for the final solution to be expedited. The final solution will have to include adding panels, and please note, the company never offered to add panels until after the Revdex.com complaint was filed. I do hope we can reach resolution before the end of 2015.
