Review: My husband received a collection-type letter from an unknown company (Stellar) concerning a supposed debt involving "Original Creditor [redacted]" and "Current Creditor [redacted]." None of these companies were known to him or me. I "googled" [redacted] and learned it is a defunct bank in the state of Utah. He has impaired vision and previously asked me to handle paperwork for him. He asked me to find out what this was about. Being concerned this was a scam or "phishing" letter, I contacted Revdex.com-Spokane to see if they were familiar with the companies. [redacted] told me Stellar was a large collection agency. He was not familiar with the creditors but was able to quickly confirm that [redacted] was out of business. He gave me a toll-free number and suggested that I call Stellar to get the phone number for [redacted] so I could find out the basis of their supposed claim. I reached Stellar and asked for the phone number for [redacted]. At her request I told her the "reference number" [redacted]luded in the letter. Then she asked for my name. The conversation deteriorated back and forth about "who I was and how I may have gotten hold of the addressee's mail" and "whether the letter was part of a scam to scare senior citizens into paying money they didn't owe". She said she didn't have the phone number. I said okay and hung up. Then I helped him with a response letter disputing the entire amount of the debt.Desired Settlement: He denies the validity of this claim. It is now up to [redacted] to provide details and proof that the debt is a legal obligation. Maybe collection agencies routinely take a heavy-handed approach (I don't know), but I believe she could be more effective if she developed better people skills. As I said on the phone, I "only asked for a phone number!"

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of an inquiry received from [redacted]. Our records show that a file was placed into our office from a Debt Buyer, "The [redacted]." for what appears to be a [redacted] account originally owned by [redacted] Bank on 03-20-2014. The name of the file is Vernon [redacted], ss # ending in [redacted] at an address of [redacted]. It appears this is a dated file and was charged off on 06-30-2002. It does appear that a demand letter was sent to the address on file on 02-09-2015. It does appear that we spoke with the spouse on 03-03-2015, the agent noted that the consumer who called in refused to identify her relationship with the consumer and the agent was unable to give information on this account. The Agent did put the into a validation status, this would request that the Debt Buyer supply additonal information and validation of the debt, which will be sent to the consumer when we receive it. If validation is not available from the Debt Buyer, the file will be closed and a closure letter will be forwarded to the consumer. We do not report to any Credit reporting agency on these aged accounts. Again, we have requested validation documents from the Debt Buyer, collection efforts cease during this period.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]. The information provided was helpful, and, on Mr. [redacted]' behalf will await documentation from the creditor.

Regards,

I would like to thank Stellar Recovery and specifically [redacted] for the professional and courteous way that they handle their customers. Every person I spoke with was courteous, informative and helpful. Speaking to a collection agency is never easy, but they made it such.

We would like to thank Jesse Marcury from Stellar Recovery Inc for getting a letter out to us very quickly that shows the bill was paid in full that we needed very urgently, otherwise we would have had to wait longer as we are going for a house and needed to get turned in immediately.

With great appreciation,

Larry and Pam Myers

Review: This company calls us several times daily on our office line trying to collect a debt but when we give them our numbers associated with the business they say they cannot find us in the system. The calls have been happening for months we have asked several times for them to take us off their list and they tell us they cant because they dont know what number they are trying to call and its an automated system that dials? The calls are taking away from business calls we could be receiving... Please make these calls stopDesired Settlement: We would like the calls to stop!!!

Business

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a Complaint filed by [redacted]. It appears we are calling a wrong number but have been unable to locate the phone number in question. Our system has the ability to pull up any phone number that our dialer is calling but it is necessary to have the actual number, in this case, we may have a primary number that is "linked" to other numbers associated with a series of numbers used by the business. In order for us to isolate that number, we would have to have that original number to identify the actual number in our system. [redacted] is welcome to call me personally and we may be able to get to the bottom of these issues. I can be reached at [redacted], ext [redacted]. Our intent is NOT to call wrong numbers and we remove these numbers when notified. We apologize for this inconvieience to the business and will try and locate the primary number that we have in our system.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

We are unconcerned with the matter of your company ability to link numbers which obviously should not be allowed being you have no way to reverse it... We have given every number linked to our telephone number employees, past employees, fax line everything and nothing is found, we were added to your do not call list which was unsuccessful, its disrupts our work activity which is costing us money. Maybe you need to buy an updated system? The harassing calls need to stop!

Response:

Stellar Recovery has received the response on this complaint. WE are in the process of having our IT deparment attempt to locate the number in cooperation with our dialer company. We will continue to attempt to locate the number in question and once located it will be removed. Our intent is not to call wrong numbers but we have to have the originating number the system may be trying to call in order to pin point the actual number. We will continue our investigation.

Regards,

Review: Collection calls were made to a phone number that wasn't even mine at 7:40AM which is before the time frame allowed which is 8AM to 8PM. I have contacted the company numerous times and never get a response back. They incorrectly reported this account to the credit bureaus. This item needs to be taken off of my credit as there was no social involved in any way. Calls were made daily to my cell phone I consider that harassment.Desired Settlement: I want the item to be deleted from my credit report as it should have not been there in the first place.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. On 05-06-2013, our office did receive a file from [redacted] for a past due billing from the original creditor, Shop NBC, this billing appears to be from 2009. Mr. [redacted] indicates that we called a number, that wasnt his number at 7:40 am. We have reviewed all calls made on this file and do not show that an early morning call was made to any of the numbers, if Mr. [redacted] is willing to provide us with the number we called, we can investigate this further, but our sytems are time sensitive and are designed not to call at restricted times to any consumer. We do show that an e mail was recieved on 10-02, I noted the file of this e mail, it said he wanted to know and get a letter, that if he paid the account, if it would be deleted from his credit report, we ask one of our agents to follow up on this e mail and they have been attempting to call the number we have on file, which is ###-###-####. Due to the nature of this complaint, we have closed this file as disputed and have returned it to our client with the inforamtion provided in this complaint. We have also ordered AUD deleltion of the reporting on the file, our confirmation # for this deletion is [redacted]. The file is closed.

Review: on 7/15/2015 stellar recovery place a collection for comcast cable on my credit reports. this company never made any attempts to contact me by letter, phone or any other form before placing this account on my reports. I called this company after pulling my credit file on 8/27 to inquire why they never contacted to verify the debt before putting it on my report I was told they bought the debt from another agency. I then told the young lady that the company they bought it from had to remove the debt as well. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the line was disconnected. bottom line is they never made any attempt to verify this debt before placing it on my report.Desired Settlement: I want this account removed from my 3 credit reports asap

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Our records do show that a file was placed in our office by Comcast on 7-15-2015 for a [redacted] for services at [redacted], with a billing address listed as [redacted] in the amount of $167.88. We do show that we spoke with the consumer on 8-27-2015 and have ordered copies of the recordings for that call, we indicate that the call was dropped by the consumer. The consumer indicated that our agent stated that we had "bought this file from another agency.", we do not own this file, it was simply placed for collection with Stellar directly from Comcast. Based on the information in this complaint, we have closed the file as disputed and will return the file to Comcast with this information. All Credit reporting has been ordered deleted, confirmation of the deletion request is [redacted]. If [redacted] has further questions regarding this file they are welcome to contact Comcast directly, the original account with Comcast is [redacted] and can use that number for reference with the client directly.

Review: My husband and I had just filed bankruptcy and the bankruptcy was discharged on 8/14/13. On 8/28/13, Stellar Recovery posted a new charge of $16 on my credit report. Now, first reporting after my bankruptcy has discharged is a negative and false report. Of course, every debt was included in the bankruptcy. I looked up their phone number and called them on 9/11/13. The guy said he could not talk to me about the debt. He refused to tell me what the debt was about and that he needed to speak to my lawyer. Since my bankruptcy was discharge, I didn't think I had a lawyer any longer. I tried to ask him what lawyer and he hung up on me. I called back and "[redacted]" answered, same guy. He insulted me and hung up on me again. The $16 charge is false, has been included in my bankruptcy and I want it taken completely off my credit report. If they do not fix this issue soon, I will contact a fraud attorney!Desired Settlement: I want ALL negative reporting after 8/14/13 removed from my credit report ASAP!

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Stellar Recovery has received 2 files in our office, one for [redacted] on 08-30-2012 and one for [redacted] received on 04-12-2013. We did receive Bankrupcty information for a chapter 7 filing, 13-14473 filed on 05-14-2013 and [redacted] was included in the Matrix. We have also now included the [redacted] account under the filing and closed as Bankrupt and have ordered deletion of the credit reporting for the [redacted] file. Both files are closed.

Review: Stellar Recovery has apparently purchased very very old debt which is not valid any longer. The debt was paid something like 8 years ago. I need all reporting deleted from the Credit Agencies and proof that it has been done. If Stellar still believes this debt is owed, I need validation of debt.Desired Settlement: I need reporting from Stellar Recover deleted from Credit Bureaus, and I would like a letter verifying that this has been completed.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. On 05-28-2012, our office was placed a past due billing from [redacted] for a [redacted] for services at 9[redacted]. This file is not owned by Stellar, it is still owned by [redacted] and was charged off on 11-07-2009. It does not appear that we have had any contact with Mr [redacted] since the file was placed in our office in 2012. Mr. [redacted] indicated in the complaint that "the debt was paid like 8 years ago", for that reason, we have closed the file as disputed and will return the file to [redacted] with that information attached.

Review: I was contacted by stellar recovery reguarding a debt that was owed. I set up payment arrangements and started paying on the account in question knowing that it was preparing to go into collections. That was a month and a half ago and I checked my credit report on 6/4/2013 and it shows that my account with stellar recovery is in collections! I immediately called to speak to someone and was sent to voicemail. I would like this negativity removed from my credit report immediately.Desired Settlement: Would like the negative report reversed on my credit report!

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted] K, [redacted]. On 04-09-2013, we did purchase a [redacted] Bank DDA file in the name of [redacted]. On 05-06-2013, we did speak with Mr. [redacted] and worked out a payment plan of $100.00 per month. On 06-04-2013, I spoke with Mr. [redacted] and advised that Stellar Recovery, under the FCRA, will continue to report this claim on the credit Report until the account was paid in full, at that point, it would be deleted, which is our policy. We will continue to report the current balance, after payments are made to the Credit Reporting agencies until it is paid. He indicated that he understood and was in the process of trying to work on his credit score. On 06-05-2013, he spoke with one of our agents and indicated his questions had been answered and he was okay. If Mr. [redacted] has any addtional questions he would like us to answer, he is welcome to contact [redacted] at [redacted].com or call ###-###-####, ext [redacted].

Review: Ok, 1st of all, I had no clue this had even went a collections company. I had to check with my credit monitoring company, who advised me this $89.00 bill is in collections; yet I have received no mail nor phone calls identifying themselves as Stellar. I have called 4 times, and recording says all operators are busy.. No one calls me back... Have had recent liver transplant 11 months ago, so I'm sure it's some sort of medical company... Yet I have no clue who because Stellar won't return a call or I am unable to locate the original bill from whom I owe... Geez, if they can contact a person I'll pay my bill IF it legit.Desired Settlement: If I owe, tell me who and why.. And I'll pay the bill... But if it's on my credit report, I should have heard from someone by now...

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a wrong number complaint filed by [redacted]. The consumer alleges we were told to stop calling a phone number, ###-###-#### and received a call after the notification. The number has been removed and placed into our internal do not call list. Our dialer system is pre-programmed for a 24 hour period and calls could be made if programed during this period, our agents do advise consumers when numbers are removed of this process. We do apologize for the calls, no calls have been made to the number since 09-09-2014. Again, the number has been removed.

Review: Portfolio Recovery continues collection activity on account they never validated. On November 16, 2015 Stellar Recovery Inc. [redacted]received my certified letter requesting validation of an account they are attempting to collect [redacted]. I have not received a response. Under Texas Finance Code 392.202(b)(2) if a debt collector has failed to respond to your debt validation request, then they have essentially admitted that the debt in question is inaccurate. As such, all collection efforts on the debt must cease and derogatory listing should be permanently removed from any consumer credit reports. As of 1/6/2016, they are still reporting a collection account on my credit reports. Under federal law, I could sue them and ask for thousands in damages, since credit bureau reporting is considered collection activity. However, I am confident that by channeling this dispute through the B, a more simple resolution can be made. If they delete the account, cease reporting it to the credit bureaus, and provide written confirmation of the same, I will consider this matter resolved.Desired Settlement: If they delete the account, cease reporting it to the credit bureaus, and provide written confirmation of the same, I will consider this matter resolved.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: Stellar contacted my father on 11/16/2015 regarding an alleged debt of $186.52 stemming from June 2013. I have never received any proof of this debt. They contacted my family member whom I haven't lived with in over a decade and has absolutely zero connection to my cable usage (nature of bill). They told him the exact month and year of the debt, the exact amount, and that they wanted him to get me to call them and left a number ordering me to call. Needless to say this greatly upset my family and myself as well. When I called them they would only give me the scripted information, told me they were going to put my number in an auto dialer despite me telling them I WANT PROOF OF THIS DEBT. This is a violation of my rights under the FDCPA and it is absolutely preposterous to contact the family members of a 30 year old man. I am outraged.Desired Settlement: I think that they have violated my rights and this is step one towards a resolution. I will take this into the court system if this is not enough. I think that they should right the wrong that they have done to me, and also get incentive to not do this to anyone else. It is upsetting. I think they should NEVER contact my family again, remove my account line, and remove my credit report entries. I will pay what I owe; however, owing a debt, supposedly, does not give others the ability to violate me rights, intrude on my family, and make me feel such anxiety and violation.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Our records do indicate that a file was placed into our office by Comcast on 09-09-15 in the name of [redacted] for Services at [redacted]. Our investigation of this matter shows that one of Agents did speak with a 3rd party on 11-16-2015 who identified himself as [redacted], when the agent attempted to verify the consumer by address, the contact indicated this was his son. At that point the Agent indicated "we have a wrong number and we will remove this number from our system." However, the third party continued to ask questions, and the Agent violated our company policy and instead of discontinuing the call, answered questions regarding the file. The employee has been counseled and a write up has been performed on the employee. It also appears Mr. [redacted] spoke with an Agent and indicated that he would not pay this bill until he saw documentation and validation of this account, that agent did place the file in "validation status." Validation documents have been ordered from Comcast and will be forwarded to the consumer at the address provided. We do apologize on behalf our employee for giving information to a third party. The file is currently in a hold status awaiting validation documents.

Response:

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

In the response given by Stellar Recovery, it clearly states that this organization admits to violating the FDCPA by disclosing information regarding a supposed debt to a third-party. What is more alarming than disclosing this information is the fact that the last four digits of my social security number and birthdate were given as well. In an age where information security is paramount, I feel that this put my identity at substantial risk.

I appreciate that Stellar has addressed the matter internally, and documented the violation by the individual; however, this is not a satisfactory resolution to the violations of my rights. I believe that now that an admittance has been issued by Stellar, the path is well open for me to handle this matter through litigation within the court system. However, I do not wish to do this as my primary course of resolution.

In the interest in saving time, and from the standpoint of Stellar, from avoiding arguing against their own admittance in the court system, I propose that this debt be cleared and any and all line items that exist on any of the three credit reporting agencies regarding this account be removed. I feel that this would resolve the matter in an appropriate resolve for both parties.

I do not accept the validity of this supposed debt to begin with; however, at this point, my primary concern is having had to deal with an organization that is operating outside of the law and directly violating my rights as well as absolutely violating my privacy. Though this would cost the agency revenue, I believe it is advantageous for Stellar to accept this measure as a better alternative to litigation.

Regards,

Business

Response:

Stellar Recovery has received the additional concerns by [redacted]. As of 11-23-2015, we have zeroed out the current balance on the Comcast account in our office and have deleted the credit reporting on this file per Mr. [redacted]'s request.

Response:

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

That is to say that as long as the account is in fact zeroed out and Stellar has done what they have promised through this resolution. I feel that it would be an appropriate close-out for this matter for them to send me written correspondence so that if this item does appear on my credit history still, that I have documents in hand to contest this with the credit reporting bureaus.

I appreciate the resolve and the timeliness of the correspondence.

Stellar recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by a [redacted]. On 06-09-2014, our office received a Revdex.com complaint filed by this consumer, complaint # [redacted]. At that time, Ms. [redacted] used a Web based demand for verification of the debt to the Revdex.com. Although the validation document was forwarded to the Revdex.com instead of the agency, we still honored the request and ordered validation documents that were sent out on the same date to the address we have on file. We also requested deletion of the credit reporting during the validation period and gave a confirmation number of [redacted], for the deletion. Because of the nature of the request, the file was also marked as disputed and was closed and returned to our client, [redacted]. In order to be pro-active, we again, have ordered total deletion of the credit reporting again this date. The file is closed, validation has been ordered and sent to the consumer and deletion has been ordered.

In which I have spoken to 10 different people in the last two weeks, assuring me that they have emailed it to me 3 times, mailed it 4 times, and even faxed it to my loan officer 5 times. Review: Stellar Recovery - phone number ###-###-#### constantly calls and hangs up. I called them back to see who they were and what they wanted. The lady said "this is Stellar Recovery and you have a balance of $52.55 and you need to press 1 to pay this immediately" I told her I was not familiar with Stellar Recovery and asked who I owed $52.55 to. She would not tell me. She insisted that I provide her with my address and Soc Sec # (yeah right chick, wishful thinking!). These practices of constant calling and hanging up and then not responding to why and what is owed is poor business practices and likely illegal.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint that was filed by [redacted] did not provide the Revdex.com with an real address or phone number but we were able to locate a file in which we beleive was the file in our office with [redacted] indicated that our agent "insisted that I provide her with my address and Soc Sec#". under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, we are required to attempt to identify the consumer to the file we have in our office. This is to protect the consumer and any 3rd party that may be calling into our office. We do show that [redacted] phoned into our office on 01-07-2013 from ###-###-####. This phone number was a number associated with a [redacted] file in our office. The agent did attempt to identify that we were speaking with the correct consumer but this consumer refused to verify any information and we were unable to give any further information on the file. [redacted] has ask that we "stop contacting." We consider this a "cease and desist" notification and have closed the file in our office as such, and returned it our client with information obtained.

Review: I returned equipment to Comcast upon closing my account. Their staff said all equipment was complete. After closing account, Comcast filed Stellar Recovery to collect additional fees. I have contacted Comcast on several occasions and provided proof that they have their equipment, which their staff agrees is correct.Desired Settlement: This is an unwarranted claim, which even Comcast staff said was not valid. This needs to be closed and removed from my credit report.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I ran a credit report, and found Stellar Recovery Inc filed a collection claim against me for $59. They detail says they are collecting for an account with Comcast that was closed in 2015. I did not had a Comcast in 2015 or 2014, and I have never received notification from Stellar Recovery or from Comcast that I owe any money. This is a fraudulent claim and I need it removed from my credit report and history. This is a fraudulent claim and I need it removed from my credit report and history.I do not recognize this vendor, and have never received communication from them. This is fraudulent, and I need it removed as I am trying to buy a house.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Our records indicate that we did receive a Comcast account in our office on 11-25-2014 for a [redacted] for Services at [redacted]. Our investigation shows that the account in our office from Comcast was placed with a delinquency date of 8-24-2013. A verification letter was sent to [redacted] on 12-1-2014 from Stellar Recovery. Stellar Recovery received a Revdex.com complaint from [redacted] in Aug 2015 advising that the account was being disputed. Stellar Recovery closed the account and sent it back to the client Comcast. Credit reporting was submitted to be deleted to all three credit reporting agencies on 8-28-2015 with a control number of [redacted].The file has been closed in our office since 8-28-2015 and since receiving the complaint Stellar has submitted an additional deletion request.

Review: I recently purchased a 2nd home, and had my bank finance the transaction. My banker informed me that my credit report (normally a score of 800+) has a collection on it, taking my perfect credit report score down to a meager 675. I received a copy and found out it was from DISH Network. I called DISH (spoke with [redacted])and they informed me that I do not have an account with them. I agreed and asked how I could get in touch with the collection agency that they use to resolve this issue. Through my research, I found Stellar Recovery to be the collection agency that DISH uses. I called them and was told that their POLICY is to report collection by NAME and ADDRESS only. SO, my credit report is suffering because they don't report by social security number. I need resolution of this problem immediately as I can not afford to have red marks on my credit report when I don't even have an account! Also, I find it odd and irresponsible on Stellar Recovery's part that they report these collections with only name and address. Please help.Desired Settlement: Change their policy to require a social security number so that innocent people don't have this same problem. Credit bureaus go by social security numbers to ensure identity and so should collection agencies. I want immediate resolution so that my credit score can reflect my good standing. THANKS!

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. We have completed our investigation of his conerns. On 04-08-2013, our office did receive a past due billing from Dish Network in the name of [redacted] for Services at [redacted] and did report this information to the Credit Reporting Agencies. Mr. [redacted] indicated that an agent with our office indicated that our "policy is to report collection by NAME and ADDRESS only." The agent should not have indicated such information, our agents are trained not to discuss how credit reporting agencies locate the names of consumers to make a match. Stellar Recovery is an "Information Supplier" under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and uses the National recognized technology to report information including social security numbers when supplied by the clients. What information the Credit Reporting Agencies use for establishing a match is their choice, not ours. We apologize for the confusion that may have been raised by the statment made by the Stellar Agent. In this case, after we spoke with Mr. [redacted], we also talked with a person who said he was the father to Mr. [redacted] and this was reporting on his son's credit, indicated that the bill claimed was dealing with unreturned equipment and would discuss this with Dish Network, this was on 12-11-2013. (today) Stellar Recovery did order an AUD deletion on this file on 12-11-2013, (today) confirmation # is [redacted], we ask that Mr. [redacted] allow time for this request to be processed.

Response:

It's not that I do or do not accept this answer. However, I find it hard to believe that a COLLECTION agency does not file by social security number. If they DO, as claimed, then I wouldn't have a collection on my credit report and we wouldn't be discussing this. Period. I want the collection agency to resolve my credit dispute immediately. It is my understanding that it would take a simple phone call for them to have this taken off as quickly as it was put on my credit, as opposed to me calling and disputing it as my credit continues to suffer because of their mistake. I do not believe this is a credit bureau mistake, as my attorney and my banker have informed me that the credit bureau publishes the information that they receive from collectors. Dish has no record for me, my address, or my SS number.Dish Network contact is [redacted] - direct line [redacted] ext [redacted]Thank you for handling this quickly as my borrowing power suffers.
