Stellar Recovery, Inc. Reviews (387)

I owed this agency $130.00 to clear an old debt that yes is obviously my own fault for not taking care of the debt sooner. I settled the debt, but could not even get an agrmt letter for 30 days. I'm sorry. I thought once you entered in to an agrmt you usually are able to obtain this in writing before the debt is actually even settled or paid. THE DEBT IS PAID....BUT they can't even seem to email me a receipt along with an agrmt letter. This to me is poor business. The representatives are always rude every time you call them. And they could not care less that a consumer is ACTUALLY PAYING THEM THE DEBT THEY OWE AND GUESS WHAT you never have to call or attempt to collect the debt anymore in which IT IS OBVIOUS YOU HATE YOUR JOB IN DOING THIS ANYWAY. TERRIBLE COMPANY. I have had other old debt in collections, that I had to take care of and the companies were very easy to work with and had no problem emailing me an agrmt letter and proof of the debt being pif. 30 days....just for an agrmt letter. over $100 bucks. Shame on you! Your company sucks! That is all.

Review: Stellar Recovery Inc reported to the credit bureaus in November 2015 a collection from Comcast for $49 without ever sending written notification for dispute. I have never heard of this company. I have also not received a bill from Comcast. This is in violation of the Federal Trade Commission Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.Desired Settlement: Removal of all information from credit reports..

Stelllar Recovery is a Data Furnisher under the FCRA and it is the responsibility of the original Creditor to notify of possible collections and negative reporting. We have ask for Comcast to provide validation documents for this account. If the documents are received within a 30 days period, they will be mailed to the consumer at the address we have on file. Response:

Revdex.com,I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. What I find to be most disturbing is that they admit that they did not contact me, they obviously have my home address and a letter would have been sufficient. They also placed this information on my credit report without any proof from Comcast or they would not have to wait 30 days to receive proof. I expect immediate removal of this defamatory information from my credit report. I have no choice but to refer this incident to the FTC and the Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs. Regards,[redacted]

Review: Today I received a credit report from my bank and I noticed stellar recovery was on my report saying I owe $223.00 only with experian. I have never received any phone calls from this company nor any letters saying I owe this money. I have tried contacting the phone numbers listed on their website but the phone numbers are saying its someone voicemail and its for all the numbers listed on their website. I am unsure how a company can post a negative remark on your credit report without sending any proof. I have noticed that I am not the only one in this situation.Desired Settlement: I would like proof that I owe this amount and if I don't I want this removed from my credit report right away.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of an inquiry made by [redacted]. Our records do indicate that we received a file from [redacted] for a [redacted] on 02-13-2015 for services at [redacted]. We do show that a letter was mailed to the address on file on 02-14-2015. We have placed this file into validation status and have requested validation documentation from [redacted]. Review: This company is working with Dish Network in a scam to consumers. When I canceled my service with Dish I was directed to return the materials and I did so. I was told by the UPS store that it was cheaper for me to ship myself than use the label provided and was also told to hold onto my paperwork because dish will claim I used the label and charge me. After a short period of time I received a call saying they had not received my items and after tracking showed it was delivered to them they said it must just need to be processed. About 6months later I was contacted about the $18 shipping fee and then explained to them once again I paid separate shipping they apologized and said it would be removed. Now this company has put this on our credit report and after explaining they are going to contact Dish about the label use. I believe this company along with Dish network are working together in a scam that most people may just pay because they did not hold information and are unable to prove. My complaint is with Dish as well as this collection agency that is familiar with the process!!Desired Settlement: I want this removed from our credit report!!

Review: 1. I have never received any communication fromStellar Recovery concerning this alleged debt until the correspondence received via my credi report 01/15/2014.

This company has never provided any documentation about this debt, Stellar Recovery has knowingly failed to respond to my debt validationrequests pursuant to 15 USC 1692g § 809, which states that proof of debt mustbe provided within 5 days of the initial contact with the consumer.

In addition to the above, I would also like proof [redacted] the master servicer of this account. Please provide the contract between Stellar Recovery and [redacted] given them collection rights over this account. This contract is required to ensure that Stellar does have the authority to collect this alleged debt.Desired Settlement: I was not notifed by mail to pay before collection appeared on all three CRA. I was violated of my cosumer rights.

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. On 12-12-2013, our office did receive a past due invoice from [redacted] for a [redacted] with a billing address of [redacted]. A validation letter and demand was sent to the address on file on 12-17-2013. On 01-15-2014, at 7:16am MST, we spoke with Ms. [redacted], she indicated to an Agent that she had sent a letter, the agent indicated that the letter was not noted yet on the file. On 01-15-2014, at 7:25am MST, we spoke again to the consumer, she indicated that a letter was sent out that indicated she was willing to pay the account if we would delete the credit reporting, the agent advised that we would update the file as paid in full but do not have a "Pay to Delete" policy. On 01-15-2014 at 8:19am MST, the administrative department posted a note on the file, indicating that an e mail had been received that indicates she will pay this in full if we will agree to delete the credit reporting, and that if we did not respond to this request within 15 days, she would demand validation of the debt. The administrative department is aware we have no "pay to delete" policy and placed the file in "validation" status. This status will ask our client to provide validation documents for the file. At 11:25 I ([redacted]) received an e mail that indicated that our company has never provided any documentation about this debt and knowly "failed to respond to her debt validation," and would file a Revdex.com complaint. I reviewed the file and noted the e mail received. I also recieved a phone call from Ms. [redacted] and explained that I was in a meeting but would call her back. I called back about 35 minutes later and got voice mail. Ms. [redacted] claims in the Revdex.com compliant that we are "required to provide proof of the debt within 5 days of initial contact with the consumer." This is not the case, we are required within 5 days of contact to send out a demand and validation letter to the consumer, this letter was sent out at the placement date of 12-17-2013. Because the consumer demanded validation of the debt in her e mail if we would not delete the credit reporting, the file has been put into validation status. During validation, credit reporting is deleted. When we receive the validation documents from [redacted], they will be mailed to Ms. [redacted], if validation is not available from [redacted], the file will be closed and returned to the original client. If Ms. [redacted] has further questions, she is welcome to call [redacted] at [redacted].

Review: Hello, my name is [redacted] and on Friday, September 6, 2013,1 picked up my mail from the mail box and received the enclosed Collection letter. As you see, it is addressed to "Screening Co Criminal" which is not me, but this is my address. I have lived at this address for a year and have had cable service from [redacted] for way over a year. I was totally "offended" by the name it was addressed to "Criminal" and that also, my [redacted] account has never been in collection. I did call [redacted] that day and they told me that my account is in good standing and is not in collection. I tried calling Stellar Recovery over the weekend, but I guess they are closed on weekends, so I left my name and number, which they did not call me back. I ended up calling them...which they were not at all nice. They told me that this ms the address that [redacted] gave them. I am so offended by all of this and having something like this put in my home mail box as a CRIMINAL Either the Collection Company "Stellar Recovery or [redacted] needs to explain this on how it happened and if my Social Security was given since [redacted] gave the collection company my address. I have my credit monitored so I am waiting to see if this was reported on my credit and if it was, I will be sending out another letter. As for now, I would appreciate something done with [redacted] and Stellar Recovery for address a collection letter to me as a CRIMINAL.... Thanks for your time and attention on this manner.

Desired Settlement: This is unacceptable and I want someone make sure that this is stopped and that this is not reported on my credit for their errors. I would like a letter apologizing for addressing to my home address as a “CRIMINAL".

Business

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. On 08-28-2013, our office did receive a [redacted] file in the name of Screening. Co Criminal , for services at [redacted]. A letter was sent out to this name and address on the same date. We received a call from Ms. [redacted] on 09-09-2013, our notes indicate that she lives at this address but has never heard of this company. The agent that took the call, closed the file immediately and ask for it to be returned to [redacted] based on the information and the strange name associated with this billing. We also received a letter on 09-12-2013 with the same information provided to the Revdex.com, the file had already been closed and returned based on the phone call from Ms. [redacted]. We do apologize, but the information on the name and address were provided by our client. We have closed the file and returned it to our client with information provided by Ms. [redacted].

Review: Stellar Recovery has reported on my credit report an uncollected debt of $46 from 5 years ago. The debt was due to a billing dispute and should have never been a collection issue, as I have emails from the company (Comcast) that shows they owed me 5 months of credit on my account. Comcast never contacted me about this debt, and 5 years later Stellar Recovery has not contacted me about this debt. Instead, I used my free annual credit option and discovered this is being reported as a current debt. Stellar Recovery is required to contact me through US mail to notify me of their intent to report to the credit agency, but they have not done that.Desired Settlement: I have disputed this transaction with the credit reporting agencies, have contacted Comcast to get this item removed from my report, and am asking Stellar Recovery to do the same

Business

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Our records indicate that we did receive a file from Comcast on 11-20-2014 for a [redacted] for services at [redacted]. We do show that several attempts were made to contact this consumer at the phone number of [redacted]. On 7-8-2015, we did receive a notice with the credit reporting agencies from the consumer, it indicated "this was a dispute from 3 years ago. Comcast agreed to credit my account because their service technician could not fix our equipment and we were without internet service for 5 months. I returned to Comcast and this balance was never mentioned." Our administrative staff noted the file and properly closed the file as disputed and ordered a AUD deletion of the credit reporting, confirmation # [redacted] on this date We also show that we received an e mail from the consumer on 7-9-2015, claiming that Comcast owed her money, the file had been previously closed but we noted the e mail and prepared a closure letter to be sent to the consumer. The file is closed as disputed and will be returned to Comcast with the information provided by the consumer.

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. This complaint indicates that we have been making calls to a wrong or incorrect phone number. We would be happy to make sure that the number is taken out of our system and placed into a "Do Not Call" list for future placements of the number. Mr. [redacted] did not provide the number we are calling and as a result, we are unable to remove the number. He is welcome to call our office at [redacted], ext 120 and ask for [redacted]. He is also welcome to e mail us the phone number at [redacted] . Our intent is not to continue to call wrong phone numbers, we certainly do apologize for the calls and will be happy to take the number out of system, once we are provided the number.

Review: Stellar Recovery contacted me by mail in February by mail with a letter offering a settlement for a debt. I called the same day and paid it 2/24/2014. When I called I noted that this debt did not appear on my credit report. The rep told me that they had just recently obtained the debt. I asked specifically if I paid would it appear on my credit report and I was told NO that I had called soon enough. Much to my surprise today 3/6/2014 I received an alert that a collection account has been posted to my credit report. I check it and it was from Stellar Recovery. Not only did they post this account to my credit report after I was told they wouldn't it is reporting incorrectly. I find the practice of taking money from people and then going ahead and damaging their credit anyways completely unethical. This has cause a significant drop in my credit score. The account is also report to [redacted] as 90 past due as of March 2014 which not right considering I paid it in February.Desired Settlement: I would like these entries removed from my all of my credit reports. The account was paid and I was told it would not be reported. I find it completely unethical to report it just to damage someones credit.

Business

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. We have reviewed this file and agree that the credit reporting should not have occured based on the fact that the consumer did make the settlement payment, unfortunetely, the timing on the payment and the reporting was such that the reporting did occur. We have performed a manual AUD deletion for this file, confirmation # is [redacted] dated 03-07-2014. This will delete the reporting to all credit reporting agencies, please have the consumer allow time for the process to take place. If Ms. [redacted] has any additional concerns or issues, she is welcome to call my office at ###-###-####, ext [redacted]) or e mail me at [redacted] . We do apologize for this action.

Regards,

Review: Stellar Recovery went ahead and reported an account as delinquent on my credit report that was not my account in the first place. They made no effort to even contact me about the account, with [redacted] network, which happens to be from my son, whose first name is the same as mine. Because I am attempting to rebuild my credit score, I contacted Stellar immediately, and the girl on the phone was able to verify in a minute or less that they have the wrong person, but then she said I have to fax in to them a copy of the credit report, and a copy of my drivers license, in order to remove this from my credit report.I did this about May 14, and today, May 27, I get a notice that they are continuing to come after me, and reporting negatives to the credit bureaus. When I called today there was no answer. Everything they have done here is wrong, from not verifying the account holder's identity, which took literally a few seconds, to putting things on my report without contacting me, to making me do the work in order to potentially fix their mistake,to not acknowledging my fax to them two weeks ago, to not updating the report as they should have, to continuing reporting negatives that do not exist, to not answering the phone when I call. It looks as though Stellar Recovery uses the credit bureaus to bully people into contacting them.Desired Settlement: I want immediate action to undo what damage has been done to my credit score, since these scores are important, and the process is slow. I want immediate acknowledgement that the problem is now fixed. I want a statement that Stellar Recovery will stop the practices mentioned above for everyone, not just me.

[redacted] for services at 3[redacted] Jacksonville FL 32246. A letter was sent out to this address on 04-24-2013. Stellar Recovery, per our contract with [redacted] Network, did begin reporting this file on 05-10-2013. Stellar Recovery is a "data Furnisher" with the Credit Bureaus, we supply information received from [redacted] Network, then the Credit Bureaus identiy the consumer based on the information supplied, sometimes an error can occur with the Credit Bureaus especially if names are Senior or Junior, we have no control over who the Credit Bureaus assign the information to. On 05-14-2013, we received an e mail from the consumer regarding a notice he received from the Credit Bureaus and believed his son "[redacted]" was the responsible party. he ask us to phone him. An agent spoke with Mr. [redacted] the same day and advised him that the credit bureaus may be listing the wrong party and we would correct this. On 05-14-2013, deletion was requested by the Credit Bureaus for this file and the file was coded "not to report" after the deletion was corrected. Mr. [redacted] does need to allow the time for the Credit Bureaus to respond to this deletion request. We have also performed a manual AUD deletion today to all Credit Bureaus, confirmation # is [redacted], in order to make sure this has been notified of the request. Our agent did apologize for the error on behalf of the Credit Reporting Agencies.

Review: When I closed my Time Warner account, I had returned the loaned hardware and my account was paid in full. They sent my account to Stellar Recovery anyways. I had not received a notice of the debt, from either Time Warner or Stellar Recovery via mail or any other way. The only way I found out about it was from checking my credit report, and by then it was to late.Desired Settlement: I would like the false Collections Account to be removed.

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. Our records indicate that we did receive a Time Warner Cable account in our office on 8-3-2015 for a [redacted] for Services at [redacted]. Our investigation shows that the account in our office from Time Warner Cable was placed with a delinquency date of 9-9-2014. Mr. [redacted] has never made contact directly with Stellar Recovery in regards to this account. Validation of debt will be requested from the client on [redacted]’s behalf. We will order deletion of the credit reporting for this account during this validation process.

Review: I recently checked my credit and noticed an account from Stellar Recovery in collections. I was never notified by this business. This collection was apparently opened in July. I sent a letter requesting validation over a month ago, and have yet to receive anything. Since making the validation request (which asked for what they say the money I owe is for, how they calculated what they say I owe, copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay it, to identify the original creditor, proof that they are licensed in my state, along with license numbers and registered agent), they have removed the collection from one credit bureau, but is still on at least one, possibly two.Desired Settlement: For Stellar Recovery to permanently remove their records from all credit bureaus.

Regards,

Review: Was quoted for a settlement offer on a bill in collections. They quoted me $122.90 and charged my card for $152.59 . I confronted them about it and they said they couldn't refund me the difference only refund me the whole thing but it wouldn't resolve my bill in collections. I feel they should refund me the difference and they pay that part. I asked for a email receipt 3 times but never got it and they have admitted on a recorded line that they messed up but after they already charged me.Desired Settlement: O I'd like the refund of $29.69 difference only

Business

Response:

Stellar Recovery is in receipt of a complaint filed by [redacted]. We have reviewed the file and recordings and the consumer was told that a settlement on the file would be $122.90 total. The system processed the approved settlement parameters of $152.59. We have spoken with the agent and they should not have advised that a refund was not possible for the difference. A refund has been process in the amount of $29.69 today, confirmation # [redacted] and a credit will process on the card used by the transaction. We have gotten an approval for the settlement of $122.90 by our client and the file has been again closed as settled in full. A settled in full letter is being processed and will be sent to the e mail on file. [redacted] . We apologize on behalf of the agent as we certainly do have the ability to refund a portion of any payment made in our system.

Re: Stellar Recovery, Inc. - I was contacted by this agency regarding an outstanding balance on a cable company which I did not incur. I explained this to the manager and he promptly stated well your family can help you pay your bills, since I am not working and staying at home with newborn. They have continued to harass me on a daily basis even calling on holidays at around 6AM and continuing throughout the day. Today I counted 10 times and its only 2PM. I told them when I got income I would call back. Needless to say they did not agree and have gone the route of constantly ringing my phone which has a limited amount of time for usage and have ruined my lifeline minutes. Are their not laws that protect the consumer against these type of calls?

Review: As part of an effort to collect a debt on behalf of [redacted], Stellar Recovery reported a debt to the credit reporting agencies in June of this year, stating the debt was from April 2013. The debt is in the amount of $155.00. I have never received any notices prior to this and was not notified before they reported to the credit bureaus. I do not have any knowledge of this account. I have used a different cable provider for over 5 years. This debt is not mine. I would like it removed from all three of the bureaus immediatley.Desired Settlement: Confirmation that this is not my debt and removal from all three credit reporting bureaus immediatley

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

*. [redacted]

The business refused to acknowledge me as a customer when they are well aware of my account and current address.

Review: I receive multiple calls per day from Stellar Recovery. They leave extremely rude / threatening messages regarding a [redacted] account which was closed several years ago (and paid). At times they call from the SAME number but say they are with a legal office instead (misrepresenting themselves). I have NEVER received anything in writing from this company. I had a collection appear on my credit report all of the sudden and THEN the calls started. I have filed a dispute with each of the credit bureaus as well. I have asked them more than once to remove the entry from my credit report (with all bureaus) and the person on the phone actually laughs then hangs up.Desired Settlement: The outcome I would like is for the item to be deleted from all three of the credit bureau reports immediately and for this company to stop contacting / threatening me.
