This bank does not appreciate their customer's business. I as a customer purchased furniture through a furniture stores that banks with Synchrony. I've made all my payments via money orders because I do not like making payments online. On 2/24/2015 I purchased a money order in the amount of $841.92. I made out the money order and mailed out to this bank like I've done many times over. I get a call from the bank letting me know payment wasn't made. I was asked to submit proof via fax. I faxed proof of purchase and Western Union's photocopy of cashed money order. Clearly it was altered. Someone from the post office or Synchrony Bank opened the envelope of my payment and took it upon themselves to alter and cash the money order under their name. I've gone back and forth with Synchrony and not one person is willing to work with me to give me a straight answer and say they are investigating their dept. The ONLY phone calls I get from Synchrony are TO MAKE A PAYMENT. THE WORST BANK!

This financial Bank is hardble to understand because it's now over sea in India. I've have talk to them twice about an my mother to let them understand who helper her with the bill. This is a HHgregg account,,,,we will not be shopping there anymore because of who they are using for there credit lines. GE Capital change there name but they also moved this company out of this Countr,,,,It is very hard to understand them over the phone. It's not great place to do business any more.

Synchrony Bank's customer service is awful. I waited on hold for 30min to talk to a representative after my bank account was charged twice within the same month. The representative could not refund their mistake within a timely manner and could only send a check in 2-3 weeks, which would have been around the time that the next payment would be due. I then spoke with a manager and they said the same thing without any care or acknowledgment of the company's mistake. I've since cancelled my card and will never open another with this company.

Whatever you do, DO NOT apply for this card!!! The interest rate is high and NON negotiable, despite good payment history and good credit! I called to see if I could lower my payment because it keeps increasing every month and they told me that is not an option! I pay, I pay on time, I try to keep my credit in good standing and all I get is punished further!! What about the people that don't pay their card?? Are we paying for their mistakes?? If I had known how ignorant and unprofessional their customer service was, I would have never called in the first place!

Worst bank I have ever dealt with. Had fraudulent use ($1800.00 to Ticketmaster who I have no account with) on my credit card issued by them and opened a fraud investigation. Received a letter 2 weeks later saying the investigation was closed and no fraud was detected. Got my credit monitoring service involved and with them making and monitoring the call Synchrony now says they made a mistake and would credit the fraudulent purchase. Received a new card and called them to inform them of travel plans to Florida. On the way there they put a hold on my card without so much as a call to verify purchases. Stay away from this business. Worst customer service ever!!!!

I received my Walmart credit card (Synchrony Bank) on 11/19 nd saw the due date was set to a very inconvenient day of the month; not finding any information on the possibility of having due date changed on their web site, I sent Customer Service the following email:

1) My account summary shows "Payment Due Date: 11/08/2015.
2) Being on fixed social security retirement, my monthly check is deposited every second Wednesday, which ranges from 8th through 14th on the calendar; current/future examples of my SS being direct deposited 10/14, 11/11,12/9, 1/13
3) Can due date be changed to the 14th of the month or is it permanently set for the 8th?

Synchrony Bank Customer Service replied:

Excellent service from Synchrony to start!

Care Credit closed my account without warning me first. The reason was inactivity. I'd have gladly made a charge to keep it open, had I been given the opportunity. But they did it without letting me know. When I called to get it re-opened, they won't. They say I have to reapply. As if closing my account didn't hurt my credit score enough, now I'm supposed to ding my credit again by reapplying? They quote that it's in the terms and conditions. I'm sure it is. And if they look at my account, it's been open for many years...not like I've had reason to read them in a while. I had MAJOR DENTAL work planned that now I have to cancel because of this unilateral action (I have been waiting a YEAR to repair a broken crown/was waiting on new FSA for the calendar year). Seriously...they couldn't send me an email? I'm on auto-pay and electronic statements; it wouldn't have cost them much to send an email. The service of their financing plans was very valuable to me for many years. I was lucky enough not to need their service for three years. Lucky me then. UNLUCKY ME now...no new crown...negative information on my credit report. A simple email or letter would have allowed me to respond. Now...I'll NEVER do business with them again. And I'll tell everyone I know and that will listen.

I was prompted to sign up for your credit card offer to save up to $50 on my first online purchase at Walmart.com. I was approved for $3500, but was not issued a temporary card number in order to complete my check out that day. The offer was only valid for the day of sign up. I called to speak to a representative and was told that I would need to wait for my physical card to arrive in the mail before I could use it to complete the online purchase. They also stated that a temporary card number could not be issued in order to redeem the offer that I signed up to get. Neither Synchrony Bank, nor Walmart were able to resolve this matter.

When my card arrived, I called and the representative said that the offer had expired. This offer was a TOTAL SCAM! The entire reason I signed up was to get the discount to save $50 on my purchase. Both Walmart and Synchrony Bank have both denied me the sign up discount. So I canceled the card and filed complaints about this issue on my credit report. I feel this was completely false advertising and nothing was done to remedy the matter. NOW, I'm stuck with this card on my credit report. I want it removed as you did not agree to your end of the deal!

I used to have Master Card through this bank (from Sam's Club). Without informing me, they suspended my card due to non payment. Never received any letter from them about payment. I did explained to them but it does not make difference. Stay away of this bank if you are decent customer, they treat you as you stall money from them. Paid my balance in full and cancelled $12000 credit limit credit card. Will deal with more civilized bank institution.

Synchrony Bank has destroyed me, my credit score has dropped miserably and a downward spiral has begun in my life. At first, they sent wonderful letters alerting me that credit limit had increased on my "0 BALANCE " accounts (yes PAID OFF) accounts with Pepboys, CareCredit etc. Next, I received letters alerting me that my credit limit had "LOWERED" on these paid off accounts and then letters alerting me that the "0 BALANCE ACCOUNTS" were closed. Then the Bank started looking at my open accounts with AMAZON, etc and lowering the account limit. Amazon dropped from $1,500 to $500. It was a tiny balance anyway but the fact is the bank took actions against it. Why was it done? Synchrony Bank informed me that they do yearly credit checks and my credit score had dropped, therefore they took measures like, LOWERING MY ACCOUNT BALANCES, and then CLOSING THESE ACCOUNTS. These accounts were in good standing with Synchrony, But they took actions against me based on a 30 day late payment for an UNRELATED account that was not under their umbrella. Then my financial circumstances and job took a big hit. My vehicle blew a head gasket and with my PePBoys account closed, the repair bill quote was $1,760. I took on several part-time jobs. Everything started crashing. I was also trying to launch my freelance skills and I needed lenses and other tools to try to earn a living. Credit had dried up. But I still owed bills. Synchrony Bank didn't waste any time. I feel so desperate and dead. I don't know what to do. My credit began with GE Capital and was good. Then it became Synchrony Bank. I can't borrow a nickel at this point to keep myself from spiraling. Why would Synchrony Bank need to snoop into my credit and take action against me.

I cannot understand all the negative reviews, as I have nothing but good things to say about the ease of openning an account, the customer service and of course, the interest rates.

I've set up several transfer banks and enacted transfers flawlessly.
When I've called customer services, my questions were answered immediately and quickly.

1 late payment and they closed my acct. CSR's couldn't give me any information why.

I HAD several store cards thru synchrony, paid them off and closed them all.

SYNCHRONY WILL JACK YOUR CREDIT SCORE IN A MINUTE!
AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Synchrony bank will cause you much aggravation with there credit card accounts.
Example: I have a balance that has deferred interest promotion, I make an online payment then immediately call them and request that the payment I just made be allocated to specific promotional balance, that is different than Synchronys default method for allocating payments received.
So after making my request, the customer service person confirms my request.
Only to get the statement and see that they ignored my request & allocated my payment differently than what I requested.
They don't want to allocate your payments to a promotional balance that has an expiring date coming due. They want to slam you with that 29.9% deferred interest that has been accruing. Now mind you, this happens with regularity. When I receive & review my statement, I then have to call them to get it straightened out. And what really pisses me off is that they play stupid each and every time I call.
Beware:

I just purchase a motorcycle with synchrony bank . I wanted to set up automatic payment and it was a hassleI . Got a bill in the mail when to call the time says Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. when I call no one answers and the phone hangs up you have to put account number in 3 times to get customer service.customer services is rude. and their payment method is weird and expensive

refuses to take instruction regarding the closing of CD account, keeps rolling them over contrary to my explicit instructions, consquently can never stop being a customer except by paying a severe penalty.

Synchrony Financial

Had 2 accounts with them in the past, paid all accounts on time, paid both accounts off in their entirety and both accounts were closed. Attempted to purchase some furniture for $10,000 last night and we were denied on our credit application. After spending an hour navIgating their website and automated phone system, I finally spoke to a person today. When asked why we were denied their operator, with a very thick Indian accent, finally tells me that she cannot tell me why we were denied and that we will need to wait for a letter. REALLY,!!!!! It takes less than 5 minutes to deny us credit, but I have to wait 7 to 10 days to find out why? My wife and I have worked VERY hard to build our credit, we both have credit scores in excess of 760. And this is how we are treated! We get the run around from their stupid, Ill designed website AND their worthless phone support! Don't worry, I paid cash. Never will I do business with them again!

Synchrony Bank is a joke. They are deceitful as well as becoming a monopoly. The issue, well, it pertains to credit limit decreases and Synchrony closing credit card accounts without notification. Granted my credit is not by any means perfect, every single card I have has never been late on a payment, never. Regardless of never being late on any payments, this corrupt company decides to decrease and close my accounts. This is a warning to everyone who is trying to rebuild their credit or even looking for a better credit card, research the bank who holds the credit card prior to applying because you will get burned by Synchrony in the end. Now I am working on paying all of the cards managed by Synchrony bank and closing them out as to never get any credit card through them. I would rather pay cash then let some dishonest and deceitful company make rash decisions which in the end does negatively effect your credit.

Synchrony bank does not process check by mail payments in a timely fashion, often taking 10 or more days. Results in harassing collections phone calls
Concerning a Lowes Credit Card through Synchrony Bank. Payed $100.00 by check in the mail for a much lesser minimum payment (aprox $25) for December 2014 sveral weeks before the due date. The check was not posted to the account and resulted in late fees, interest charges etc... Proactivley called them with check numbers, dates, and confirmation numbers from the bank to rectify the situation. They removed fees/charges and said that they had not yet received the check and sent over 2 weeks previous and that I may cancel it and reissue a new one. I sent a new one immediately for $200.00 to cover December 2014 and January 2015. The new due date for payment was set for January 13th 2015. The original $100.00 check that now had a stop payment on it was posted to my account the next day. Because the bank returned the check my account was turned over to their collections department and card suspended (could not be used in a lowes store) even though everything on the account was current. Their automated system will call your phone 2-3 times a day or more and will not leave a message. When I did finally answer they demanded payment on an account that was current.

--- When payments are post they predate them to when they received the check (check issued on December 29th and received by Synchrony on the 31st as per the "post date" still received calls from collections for over a week before answering on January 5th, Check finally showed on the account either on January 8th or 9th predated for December 31st). This is a poor business and accounting practice as is evident by the multiple credits and adjustments to my account they are incapable of properly tracking payments etc...
--- Credit Card was suspended on an account that was current
--- Harassing phone calls demanding payment for an account that was current (Call received on January 5th; next payment due date was January 13th)
--- Mail received from collections dated after I had spoken with and explained the situation to both customer service and collections (spoke with them on both December 31st and January 5th and received letters dated January 6th)

No wonder GE wants to get rid of GE Consumer Credit. The next best thing for the time being is to change its name in a lame attempt to hoodwink consumers. I opened an account as a result of buying new appliances from Bill Smith Appliances in Naples, FL. Of course, they limited the amount of interest free credit they would offer but did so only AFTER the purchase was complete. Now I can't sign in to my own account. When I use the "Contact us for login help" icon, I enter an infinite loop with no way of contacting GE Credit. BTW, if I miss a payment -- by even a day -- the interest rate on this "no interest for 18 months" offer becomes 29.99%. I thought the robber barons were long gone...evidently not!

I received a card from the Gap, which was GE Capital, but now has changed their name to Synchrony Bank. I have not missed a payment, but I have been late a couple of times, however I still paid my bill and late charges. Well this month I paid $500 on my acct and a few days later they decided to lower my credit limit leaving me a $41 credit limit. I called to ask why they said that I will receive a letter in the mail, because they can not tell me why. Just like I pay them I pay all my other bills. I needed this card to have a high balance because I go from state to state between school and taking care of my sick mother and grandmother. Now I am stuck because that money I paid I was depending on for gas to travel back and forth. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
