This University is a SCAM!!! They lie to get you in and then treat you like you're a nuisance to themI was one year away from finishing a degree from a major university when I had to withdraw for health reasonsAbout six years later, I decided to try and finish my degreeSince I worked night shifts, an online university was the only option available to meThey promised me that I would finish my degree in monthsAfter THREE YEARS, they are still extending the degree program by adding classesOn top of that, they keep increasing the cost of their classes to milk you out of the maximum amount of money you can get through education loansEven when I got a job with a company that partnered with UoP for a tuition break, it cost me more moneyI was supposed to get a 10% tuition reductionThey cut that to a 5% reduction due to some fabricated technicalityThen, they increased the cost of the classes so I ended up having to pay out of pocket! The final straw just happened when I needed to take some time off for personal reasonsI wasn't sure when I would be able to return, so UoP told me that I had to officially withdraw from the University and then re-enroll when I was ready to returnThey assured me that my account would remain in good standing and I could return at my earliest convenienceImagine my surprise when I get a call from a collections department for a $bill! I argued with the collections manager and she told me "this is a common story that advisers give, but they ALWAYS turn you to collections and you will not be allowed to return until you pay out of pocket." I couldn't believe what I was hearing and still was even more in shock by the amount! I called the University and they told me that the money paying for my last class came from financial aidThey made the decision to return that money to the department of education and bill me directly instead! Since I now owe a balance (one that they caused!), I would no longer be eligible to attend the university or receive my transcripts until the debt has been paid in full! CROOKS!!!

I am a previous student of university of phoenixI moved almost yrs ago to a new stateBefore I moved I talked to my academic, enrollment, and financial advisors asking if my degree would atill be accepted in the state that I was moving toThey all ensured me that the degree would be accepted because they had campuses in that stateAfter I moved here, I went to look for the campus and it had been shut down for aome yearsI called the local Psychology certification site and I was informed that they would not accept the degree because the standards were not up to theirsI immediately called phoenix and they stuck to their storyNow here I am in alot of debt and have taken classes that I thought were leading me to a better and more satisfying career but it was notNow I can't afford to go to a brick and mortar schoolSomething needs to be done about this

I have followed up with the student and provided options I will get back to her once we do get more information Thanks! [redacted] - Called student to talk about transfer credits and pre-evalsStudent concerned that only credits transferred in while she was told she would have 45+This was completed back in June/July of Let her know that while we do like to help students and make sure they understand what courses are transferable, pre-evals are not official and the students file needs to be evaluated to see what can actually be acceptedLet her know while the AA was only credits, she would have received and possibly more is going into the [redacted] insteadThere are more gen ed areas for credits to apply and upper division coursework might also have the possibility of being applied upon further reviewAlso let her know about the new [redacted] ***This is a Bachelor's degree with enroute AssociateIt just rolled out at the beginning of April so might be an option if she really wants the Associate DegreeShe would really like to know a little bit more about the courses that will apply in the ***I will have her AC follow up on that request to ensure we do get an accurate assessment so she can be sure if she does want to move from the [redacted] to the [redacted] ***She appreciates the information but still upset of the disconnectApologized for this but let her know again that pre-evals are not official or guaranteedOnce admissions and evaluation reviews her file upon matriculation, this is when we can get an accurate determinationAnd even at that point, we can still submit a ticket to have other courses reviewedIn her case, why was there nothing applied to the comm arts gen eds when she began the [redacted] processThis is something we can always do to help studentsStudent understood and will wait fo us to get back to her after reviewing her transfer creditsProvided student with my contact info via emailNo further questions [redacted] MS/AJS, MS/PStudent Services Manager, Certificates & Shared/Transfer
