WebsiteBackup Reviews (199)

WebsiteBackup sent a fake invoice via the US Mail to my place of business (a non-profit school). The mail looks like a real invoice and only after reading both sides (front and back) did I find this under their Cancellation Policy:
"We offer a 10-day money-back guarantee from your initial WebsiteBackup plan sign up date. Sign up date is considered the date WebsiteBackup receives your payment."

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted].I find the apology with their proposed resolution satisfactory.  I simply want them to stop advertising with solicitations that appear to be invoices.  If they actually stop this practice, I will consider this complaint resolved.
Regards,
[redacted]

We also received a "bill" for $70 from this company. It looks just like a real bill and I read through the whole thing and it doesn't state that its an advertisement. I decided to check them out here and see that its an on going problem. just wanted to report it.

I received an invoice for websitebackup services which I di not apply for. I am getting the feeling that this company has sent out numerous invoices in the past and many businesses may have paid the invoice not knowing that their businesses did not authorize this service. I called the company offices and left a message regarding my company never ordering this service and received no response from them. I also sent an email today informing the That I was contacting you and reporting their activities.

This company submitted two invoices to us for payment. Each invoice was for $70. I have seen "resolutions" where this company claims they are "advertisements" and do not say bill or invoice, however the paper says nothing about an advertisement and is presented identical to a bill with a detachable portion at the bottom to submit with your payment and an account number that goes with an account that has already been created in your name without your permission. I have called four times now. Each time I have been given a wait time of over 20 minutes (after having to enter my "account" number) regardless of the number I press to speak to a department, followed by a request to leave a message. I have left two messages and have received no phone calls in return. This does not appear to be a legitimate business, it appears to be a scam.

I own a small business. Received what appeared to be an invoice from WebsiteBackup Company for $70. There is no indication on the front side of the document that this is anything other than an invoice for a service plan already in existence. I never opened such a plan. Only upon very careful reading of the reverse side of the document does the ONE indication this is not an invoice appear "Sign up date is considered the date WebsiteBackup receives your payment." Grossly misleading.

I have been a happy WebsiteBackup customer for over two years now. Our website is vital part of our family owned jewelry business as almost one-third of our sales come from the Internet. We cannot afford to have our website go down or to rebuild it after a crash. WebsiteBackup takes all the mystery and difficulty out of it. Our IT professional recommended WebsiteBackup and we're glad he did!

We received an official looking invoice from them along with an account number even though we have never done business with them. We contacted them and was asked to leave a voice mail and no response was given.

I am adding my complaint regarding the phony invoice we received from this company. It was identical to a business invoice complete with account number and payment coupon. Extremely deceptive and I am thankful I checked with our web designer before paying it. If you pay, they sign you up and if you want to cancel, they cancel your account with no refund (according to the fine print on the back of the invoice).

I received an invoice from WebsiteBackup for backing up my domain. The company that hosts my website says the $70 invoice I received from WebsiteBackup is fraudulent as the host backs up my website without the help of WebsiteBackup. I just want others to know of WebsiteBackup's practices that result in invoices for services not provided.

This 'company' sent a very real looking invoice for $70 for services I did not order nor need. When I tried to contact them I was put into a hold cue that was 32 minutes and then pushed into a voicemail. I left a message and was never contacted back. We will not be paying this and I would hope that no other companies fall for their ILLEGAL tactics.

This company send a legitimate looking invoice for your website backup service. It even has your official looking 'account number' to reference your account, which technically does not exist.
Unsuspecting businesses would assume its an invoice, but it extremely deceptive looking. I tried several times to call their Customer Service department, but the wait is always 30+ minutes. They give option to leave a message, but no responses/call backs to date have been made.

This company send what appears to be an invoice via the US mail. The invoice is for $70USD for back up service for a website. When you try to call the company to inquire further the automated system requires you to put in the 10-digit "account number" that appears on the invoice. Wait times will be extremely long 20+ minutes.
When I finally spoke with someone, the hard sales pitch kicked in. Essentially they are searching the WHOIS database to see who will simply pay the $70 and who won't. Pretty much a scam.

Received an invoice from this company which I do not get any service from. Has account number and account summary with an amount for an annual charge. Also has detachable portion to mail your payment with envelope. Doesn't say this isn't a bill. Back is not very clear.
Any one could easily make payments thinking they owed this if one didn't question it. If a company does this I would then question their business practices as it is deceptive. Do they really back up websites?

I received an invoice showing a balance of $ 70.00 for therer back up service plan...
We have not subscribed or use their services.
I called to investigate this invoice, and was unable to get through, had to wait 30 minutes, I was able to leave a voice message.
I have not heard back.
I also emailed this company, and have not heard back.
I believe this is fraudulent behavior and company should be looked into.

Hello I am a local self-employed web designer located in New Mexico. Recently two of my website clients here in NM have received billing invoices from the business above for services they did not request or authorize. The invoice states it is for annual backup protection for the amount of $70. It includes the company's name, address, domain name and a fictitious account number. I have tried to contact the company via phone and email but have not received a response. I believe this to be false advertising and/or a scam to send out billing invoices to companies for services they have not requested or authorized. BEWARE!!

We received an unsolicited invoice from this company in the mail. We went to their website and submitted an online request for information regarding who at our company initiated the request for their service. There has been no response. The invoice is very misleading! NO WHERE on the invoice does it indicate that this is an advertisement.

An invoice from this company showed up in the mail, never heard of them, never signed up for their service and never will. Based on reviews on the web I'm not the only one in the country to get these fraudulent bills. Just like everyone else mentioned, 30 minute hold time to be dropped into a voicemail. I'd like to bill them $70 for the time they wasted of mine. Have some pride, go start a real business.

I received a bill from this company. I do not recall ever having solicited any service from them. The bill makes it appear so. I have tried calling 2 times and am told that the wait time is 30 minutes and then forwarded to a recorded message to leave my account number and call back information. I am concerned that this is a scam.

WebsiteBackup invoiced our company for service that was never authorized, and was unreachable by phone except for endless looped recordings, one citing a "26 minute wait" due to heavy volume. Sure.
