Weight Loss Grants Organization Reviews (%countItem)

I our experience, we did not get the money, they gave us the run around for 6 months, and we lost almost $$$ 1000.00!!!

***. They refusal excuse was not a statement of the truth, and they should the intent to refuse or give us the silence much sooner than that.

***.

As I am writing this, I discovered they are also using suite 1100 as their address.

I enrolled in the Weight Loss Grants Organization's program on Aug 17, 2017 and was given a Start Date of Sept 27,2017 and End Date of July 27,2018. I requested an extension April 18,2018 and June 13, 2018 received and email confirming an extension of 2 mo, making my new End Date Sept 27,2018. Grant request received Sept 4,2018 and Sept 11, 2018 received confirmation that I have finished submitting all of my documentation and all documents have been uploaded. Nov 29,2018 I received an email that my Grant has been approved for $1930.00. It will be sent for final adjucation and then my cheque would be mailed 15 dys from my deadline (it is already 62dy from my final closing date). April 2, 2019 I received an email denying my claim citing "Signatures on validation and weigh out declaration form do not match". No other explanation. I have a copy of weight out declaration signed by my doctor but no validation form. So what signatures is she talking about? This was from ***, Manager of Weight Loss Grants Organization, X-XXX-XXX-XXXX, at ***@weightlossgrants.org
During this whole process their lack of organization has been apparent. No response to April 19,2018 request. Several requests from me in May for a response - finally May30 *** filed my request. June 11 they changed process of how to file. Was told to re-apply. Then received email June 13 with my Apr 9 request with it, allowing an extension. New end date of Sept27,2018.
Sept 6, 2018 I reached my goal, did weigh out at my doctor, and submitted all papers. Sept 11 they confirmed submission of all my documents and uploading of same. Sept 24 I received an email requesting me to send in my info. I replied already sent, waiting for confirmation. Nov 29,2018, received an email that grant has been approved. $1930.00, to be mailed after final adjucation, and mailed within 15 dy of my final end date. In Jan, 2019, Feb, and Mar I enquired about my grant. Mar email said my grant to be mailed out Mar 25, 2019. April 2 I receive an email saying my application has been denied because "Signatures do not match on validation and weigh out form." The only form I submitted to them with a signature was the weigh out form signed by my doctor. I received no other info, despite phoning program and sending 2 emails to ***, asking for clarification. I also phoned 2 other days last week and was not pot through to her but assured my info was going to be put directly on her desk. I also emailed *** 2 more times. I emailed her again Apr8 and phoned Apr9 and have not received any replys.
I talked to my doctor's office Apr 4 and was informed they had sent a reply to the Organization Mar 12 that he is the author of the origional weigh out and I did loose the weight. I now have a copy of that form. His signature is a scrawl and they are very similar but not exact to the 1/16 of an inch. I am at an impass on how to proceed as she will not phone me or email. I have copies of everything and will not let this go. I worked hard for this and to be denied because a signature does not match is ***. Both forms are from my doctor, signed by him, stamped with his office stamp, and 2nd one was sent from his fax machine. I trust that you can assist me with this.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking full reimbursement of my grant $1930.00 that were approved. There has been no fraud here and I don't understand how they can even think my doctor would take part in any fraud.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Apr 26, 2019

The verification that all documents are genuine is an essential step in the procedures that we use to mitigate fraud.

As in all fraud mitigation, the original submitted documents are being evaluated; allowing for a do-over is not permitted.

We consider this file closed.

I DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR RESPONSE. There has been no fraud. My doctor signed both of the origional papers signed. I am not asking for a "do-over" but for the documents to be accepted as valid and submitted as to their procedures. Thw 3rd document was also from my doctor ststing that the signatures on the 2 documents are his. He included his office stamp as well as his credentials.

Our investigation shows that the weigh-out documents could not be verified as being genuine.

On June 5, 2018 I signed up with this program to lose 32 lbs., it costs me $1698, I lost all my weight and requested an early weigh out in Sept 2018, this was approved and I was told to upload my information requested to receive the program funds. Info was uploaded and I received an email confirming it was received and my grant money would be forthcoming. I have not yet received any grant money. I would like the grant money promised to me which is 80% of what I paid for program. Can you help me?

Desired Outcome

To receive the grant money promised.

Hello ***,

Each submissions are not permitted. The goal of the grant is to promote long-term success with your weight-loss issues.

The commitment that you made was to met or exceed your weight-loss goal at your deadline date of November 30, 2019.

Since November 30th is a Saturday, you have to the next business day to complete your official weigh-out; that would be Monday December 2, 2019.

If you do not have your official weigh-out conducted on that date, your application will be denied.

Please plan ahead for that important milestone.

When I went for my initial interview regarding the grant(July 2018) I was told I had 18months to lose the weight. I specifically asked if I lost the weight sooner, could I apply for the grant. I was told yes. I lost the weight in three months. Sent all the particulars to the program. It was a few days before a response, I was told I applied too soon and had to wait the 18 months. This went back and forth with me explaining what I was told and the program basically ignoring my pleas. I attempted to speak to the manager like I wss instructed only to be "blocked" by the person answering the phone. Then I was messaged to submit all information for weight loss before January 2019 of the grant would be lost. I have not been able to speak to the manager or someone in charge regarding the discrepancy I have been at a loss. Now I am told the file has been escalated and will be dealt with in priority. This was back in February. From my stand point I should be receiving $2100 as a grant.

Desired Outcome

All I would like is the $2100 I have worked towards

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Please tell me why I was given the run around. When I initially submitted the information required back in October, I was told it would be 18 months. The employees you hire to sign people up for the program are giving out false information. Again, I specially asked if I was to lose the weight in less time than 18 months, may I apply for the grant. I was told yes. Had I been told no, I must wait the 18 months, I would have not paid the $2600.00 required fee. In December I received a notice on the message board to submit my weigh in documents or I would not be a candidate for the grant. When I replied that had submitted the information in October and confused to what was going on, I was told to speak with the manager, *** (I believe her name is). When I called, I was not able to speak with her in hopes to straighten things out. Then I was told my file was with management and would be dealt with in priority sequence. This is the first of many attempts, that's I have received a definite time frame. Come January, am I going to have the same problem. And if I am still with the program, why have I not had any follow up messages from the assigned dietician, behaviour specialist, trainer? Is this not what I am then paying for, for the said 18 months?

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • May 08, 2019

The commitment that *** gave to the grant organization is that she would lose at least 28 lbs on her deadline date of January 10, 2020.

*** must weigh out on that deadline date at her doctor's office or a walk in clinic on January 10,2020.

If *** does not conduct her official weigh out on the deadline date, her application will not be accepted.

I have dealt with the weight loss grant since 2017. I heard about it through the radio and then participated. I lost all the required weight within the timeline and submitted my documents on time. Originally they said I was approved and would recieve my cheque. Recently I followed up with them and they advised me I'm being Audited as soon as I said I was going to the media. I followed up and was advised that I would get a call within 2 days. I still haven't received a call. I just want my money back as they are making companies such as *** look bad because ppl aren't getting their money back.

I signed up for Weight Loss Grant Program in August 2018 with an end date of May 10, 2019 with a goal of losing 30 lbs. The Weight Loss office recommended *** in Brampton. The dietician and weight loss coaches at *** immediately contacted me to get me started. I was impressed with the service however I never heard back from the coaches once I was setup. The dietiancian called me a few times at the beginning. I complained to the coordinator who contacted me to setup a few weigh-ins. My understanding is that any weight loss program should ne monitored by professionals. These people leave you on your own and set you up for failure once they get your money.

I was diagnosed with *** in October 2018 and continue to be on medication. Early Fall, I was advised by the Weight Loss office that I'm entitled to 1x extension however I wanted to do my best to lose 30lbs within 9 months before I take them up on their offer.

Recently, I asked for an extension however the Weight Loss program implemented a blanket rule that they are no longer offering an extension unless you are pregnant as clients are taking advantage of the extension. I feel this is discrimination. How can you expect someone with a documented mental illness focus on losing weight?

I escalated my concern and received an email from the manager 3 weeks later. I requested my case be escalated however I have not received a response. I called the office a few days later and was advised that the manager has over 300 emails to respond to and once she gets to my email she will respond. I feel this is poor service. If she's getting over 300 emails, then there must be a problem with this program.

I feel it's fair if they introduced the no extension rule to new clients not clients who were already signed up and was offered a 1x extension.

Unfortunately, I lost my job which as added additional stress to my current situation. There is no way I can lose 20 lbs within a month unless I starve myself and live in the gym.

***
Product_Or_Service: Weight Loss

Desired Outcome

Modification/discontinuance of I would like my case to be reviewed by upper management and I'm willing to provide a doctor's note supporting my depression.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Apr 25, 2019

Hello ***, You are correct, extensions to the original deadline that was set by you, are not given to anyone.

When you signed up for the grant, you set a weight goal, and a deadline to achieve it.

In order to submit a valid grant application, you must be weighed-out by your doctor or at a walk-in ***, on your stated deadline date (if it falls on a weekend or a statutory holiday you can have it done on the next business day), and submit all your required documents through your grant portal.

As you said, you still have time, best of luck.

Re: Revdex.com Complaint Case# XXXXXXX
Hi ***,
When I signed up in July 20018, I was told by several staff at the Weight Loss Grant office and at the *** that I'm allowed 1 extension and no further extension would be offered. I was asked by the Weight Loss Grant Office if I would like to extend my deadline. I did not want to utilize that opportunity as 9 months would be doable however I did not ancicipate that I would be diagnosed with *** which set me back 4 months. I'm now starting to feel better and realized I can't lose 30 in 2 months.

I would be happy if the WLG gives me an extension of 8 weeks to lose the weight correctly. I believe my deadline is May 10th.

I would like all my calls to the Weight Loss Grant office pulled and listened to, to verify these conversations about the 1x offer. I will also pull all my cell phone records supporting all my calls to their office were more than 3 times (as per ***)

A verbal offer is as good as a written offer; likewise, a verbal agreement is a good as a written agreement and can stand up on court. The agents never said this is for a limited time period or I would have jumped on the opportunity to extend.

***

Today, I spoke with *** at the WLG office and his notes reflect call in March 2019 however I hope all agents make notes to support all my to WLG office.

I've checked my records and all I can find is a Conditional Funding Certificate and their online Funding agreement. I did not phyically signed agreement and I would like to see a hard copy.

The granting of extensions was never automatic and up to the discretion of the grant organization for extreme situations. It was not intended to allow applicants to have more time to reach the goal that they set, and at a deadline date that they set.

No extension was given in this case. The original weight goal and deadline date stand.

We consider this case closed.

After successfully completing my weight loss program and submitting required documentation to the Weight Loss Grants Organization, I have been unsuccessful in collecting my grant refund. I have tirelessly called and written them to receive nothing but excuses. Or, more accurately promised returned calls from the 'right person' or the 'person who can best answer your question' never received. After a lengthy summary statement to them of what has taken place and how frustrated I am all they responded with was "is there a question in this'" no effort to contact me has been made. I achieved my goal. The ads specifically said "no risk" ... I notice their ads don't say that any more! ***
Account_Number: 77RXXXXXXX

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like to simply receive the grant funds promised. I expended $2400.00, was promised 80% back if I achieved my goal within the deadline. I weighed in with my doctor and provided proof of the achievement of the required goal -- I am due a grant reimbursement of $1920.00. I simply want them to honour the grant and pay me without further stress and delay.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Apr 25, 2019

Hello ***,

The grant procedures must be followed to ensure that there is no question or dispute regarding which documents were submitted.

The applicant portal is there for you to upload your documents, have them registered, and have them evaluated.

You chose not to submit your documents through the system.

The program that you enrolled in must have done an excellent job since you apparently lost your goal weight of 66 lbs. You must be very happy about that. I do not see why you feel "defrauded".

We consider this case closed.

Customer Response • Apr 26, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept this response which is quite saccharin considering I am only able to obtain a response through this means.
I did not "choose" to submit incorrectly, I made an error and submitted via email. The email was received by the party to which it was sent as I received an auto response. Who would deliberately choose to submit incorrectly? I am not satisfied because all it would have taken was a SIMPLE reply to my series of emails and communications - all done within the 30 day requirement - to redirect me to correct my error. However, no one would help me with this simple solution except to keep me at bay until the 30 days expired. I believe that this qualifies this simple error for an appeal and opportunity to submit the documents via the proper portal.
How could I not feel defrauded by this company when all they did was continuously mislead me, promise me returned phone calls and they knew all along that I had made an error in submission. All of this communication started before the 30 day deadline had expired and a courtesy of basic human decency was required to redirect me to the correct action which would have resulted in the just outcome of me receiving my grant. It is obvious that the company deliberately uses stall tactics and blows off communications in order to avoid payment of grants. No, I am not satisfied with this response in any way and will only be satisfied with the opportunity to resubmit the documents that were accidentally filed incorrectly on the very first day they were due.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • May 08, 2019

As was explained in the previous response, the grant organization has strict procedures for the submission of documentation in order to mitigate fraud. The applicant is the only one who has access to their portal and once the documents are uploaded they cannot be changed. Sending them by any other means could open the door to tampering.

Exceptions cannot be made.

We consider this case closed.

I saw the WLGO ad in my local paper and had heard it on the radio. I wanted to change my unhealthy habits and start fresh in January, 2018. I did my consultation, was told I was eligible for $2000 money back if I reached my weight loss goal (35 lb). I paid the $2400 up front and I reached my goal in April, 2018, from proper eating and exercising. This is when the stressful part of the program began, getting my grant money cheque sent to me.

I did everything I was instructed to do. I completed and submitted all the documentation they required and I received confirmation in August, 2018, that my grant was approved. It is now April, 2019, almost 1 year to the day I reached my goal weight and still no money. Excuse after excuse. It's always the same, as if reading it off a script.

I even received a call from the program manager personally in February, 2019, telling me my cheque was scheduled to be sent out the week of March 11, 2019. Almost 4 weeks later and surprise surprise, no money. I phoned on April 4 to inquire and was told someone would call me back. No one did so I called back on April 5, with the same response. I then received an email from the program manager on April 6 now telling me my application is under review and I am being audited on the paperwork I submitted.

Seems like as long as you pay the money upfront, they won't keep up their end of the contract.

Desired Outcome

I am simply wanting my $1920 grant money that i was told in August 2018 was approved. I've been given several more times since then dates when the cheque would be sent and it simply hasn't happened to date.

Mr. is correct; his file is currently under review.

Due to an inordinate amount of fraud and false claims, our adjudication process must entail more than just 'the receiving of documents'.

Mr. will receive notification once the review is completed.

I completed all the terms of my agreement and submitted all paperwork to initiate my grant refund. They say it takes 45 days to get your refund. It has now been over SIX MONTHS. I've tried calling, emailing etc to find out about the status and keep getting the run around and any replies have been vague.
They insist that all communications be done online. The first three months of my trying to communicate with them have been removed from the site but I have screenshots proving the conversations and lack of response.

Desired Outcome

I want them to fulfill their promise and refund me the 80% as per their agreement.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Apr 08, 2019

Ms. file is being reviewed as per the email that was sent on April 6th.

Customer Response • Apr 09, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is the same vague answer that I have been getting. It has been over six months since I submitted my paperwork. I think they are using the "inordinate amount of fraud" as an excuse for delaying pay out. All my papers are legit and if they need more "proof" it shouldn't take 6 months to ask for it! I dont believe they've even looked at it and they are using this as an excuse and stalling so they dont have to pay

The contract states that if I were to lose a specified amount of weight over a specific time frame through using a Nutritionist with their program and starting and ending weights signed off by my doctor they would refund me 80% of the costs associated with the nutritionist. All criteria were met and WLG.org has been dodging my calls, not returning emails, changing their policies and when they do reply it's with a run-around to try and buy more time in the hopes I'll go away and not want the over $2,000 they owe me.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking the reimbursement promised me through their program.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Apr 08, 2019

On multiple occasions I reached out by telephone and through their message board only to be ignored. They have had 6 months now to go through this process that they said would take 7 days and then changed to 45 days. They only replied once I threatened going to the media. They tried to tell me my Dr did not respond to their request for signature authentication. It so happens my Dr showed me the file she received and the reply she sent them. When I told them this they backtracked and said they would send another to her. It was received signed and I sent it back via registered mail along with an email with pictures sent ahead of time so they knew it was coming. they then said it would have to go through another authentication process and ever since all communications to them have not received any reply of any kind. They are stalling hoping I will go away and forget about the over $2,000 they owe me. even my Nutritionist who I used and was authorized by them has been shut out. She tried reaching out to them on my behalf and they have since 'cancelled her account' as a member of theirs and are refusing to take her calls and messages as well. ***. In your complaint application you mentioned would I be willing to talk to the media - the answer is yes. ***. ***. Any other suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated and you will find me to be a more than willing participant in doing what is needed to get this situation solved for both myself and the others

My payment date was suppose to be in September 2018. Original paperwork was filed in August 2018 to receive payment, why did you wait for 7 months to confirm this paperwork?

Also, my doctor confirmed this paperwork on March 19th, 2019 (as I visited him on this date and confirmed this with him). It is now almost a month later, with no update. It has been a full year since I started this program, and it is unacceptable to not receive payment for almost 8 months after I was suppose to, with no contact as to why it is being delayed.

I still have not received payment.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Apr 18, 2019

We are getting through all the files as quickly as possible. Hopefully the delay will not be too long.

In June 2017 I heard an advertisement for a grant to lose weight. I inquired and it sounded interesting. I needed to pay $2000 up front and if I lose the expected weight I would get 80% of my funds back. I agreed, signed all documents and got started. I had a year to do this. I lost the weight by July 2018, submitted all documentation and it went under review. Finally August 23, I received a message from *** advising that I was approved for my grant and a cheque will be mailed out to me. After many emails back and forth to the company I still have not received my grant. The day is March 28, 2019. It is going on 8 months and they still have not paid. ***. I advised that they had until Friday March 22nd to send out my cheque or I will be contacting them and filing a complaint. I gave them a few days extra and still have heard nothing. ***. And what's sad is that I continue to hear the commercial on the radio. ***. I'm starting to believe I will never get paid from them. ***.

All I want is for them to pay as promised. I was promised a cheque of $1680. This is what was sent to me on August 23 - Dear ***, This email notice is to confirm that your Weight Loss Grant has been approved for $1,680 and has been sent for final adjudication, following which your cheque will be sent within 15 days from which your deadline was to occur. The results have undergone the scrutiny of our experts.

We consider this file closed.

I started my application for a grant amount over a year ago with my weight loss program. I finished all the requirements and submitted all the documentation for to qualify for the refund. I was informed last September that I would be receiving a cheque for $522. I was initially told it would take 10 business days. I have contacted the organization on many occasions and have been told that there was an increase on grant applications and that I was to be put on a priority list. I contacted them again at the beginning of this year (2019) and was again told I was put on a priority list. I called today and was told the person I needed to talk to was not available but a message would be given to them about my concerns. When I asked them if this person would be contacting me by phone or through my account on their website they told me they had no idea how they would contact me.

It has been over 6 months that I have been told I would be receiving this grant cheque. I still hear their advertisement on the radio that they are accepting applications.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) Would like my grant cheque.

Hello Walter - Please do not call into the call centre. Rather, communicate via your account in the Fundy Portal for a prompt reply.

We are not ***, and do pay out on verified claims, however we must mitigate fraud as a precaution because almost half of the claims for grants are from people that did not lose their weight.

Thanks for your patience.

I lost 32 pounds and did so before my deadline with the weightlossgrants program. everything was approved and I received 6 emails saying my grant was approved and would be issued in 7 to 10 business days. Fast forward almost 8 months. I cannot get a hold of anyone, every time I use my message board I either don't get my question answered or they say they are behind on issuing payments. 8 months behind?? I just want an answer on when my cheque is coming, I want to know why its taking so long and when I'm gonna get it, give me a straight answer please. I was promised just over 1900$, for a one income family this is very important to us.
I am also just wondering why they are accepting thousands of other applicants if they cannot pay the ones who have already been approved. why still have so many advertisements for applicants if you cannot fulfill them.

Desired Outcome

I just want my money that I was promised, I want to know when my cheque is coming.

Hello ***,

Your application is in the system waiting for final approval.

From time to time, the security and fraud procedures of the Weight Loss Grant Organization must be modified to mitigate new risks that are uncovered. This causes a delay in the disbursement of the grant money.

You will be informed when your cheque is ready to be mailed out.

I am only asking for when my cheque is coming , I received 6 emails saying 7-10 business days. It has been 8 months and the only response I get is you are in the system we will notify you. Please give me a straight answer, your emails should have never said 7-10 business days if the wait time is a year. I would be happy with an honest timeline and perhaps being honest with your new applicants.
Thanks

My complaint I about the actions of Weight Loss Grant to deny paying me the grant I earned. When I signed up (dated letter from them is April 3, 2018)I was asked to have a 10 month period of time in which to loss 45 pounds, I was told instead of selecting the 10 month period, the person signing me up would put me down to 18 months. She said it would give me more time to loss the weight, just in case anything went wrong and it it did not matter because as soon as I lost the weight I was to do a weigh in (at the doctors) submit it and it will stop that period of time. Then my 18 month maintenance period would begin and after 18 months I could have lost MORE weight but needed to have kept off the 45 pounds in order to receive 80% of the money I paid for my recognized weight loss program.

I followed that and in February, I got weighed at the doctor and had the Rx. I could not figure out how to attach it. So I was told that I was not eligible for it until the first 18th month period passed (and that there wasn't and had never been an 18 month maintenance period). I explained what I was told to *** and she received permission to change my file to end on Feb 11th. Which meant I had to go to the Doctor again for a second weight in, although she recommended and I uploaded the first one and explained my situation (that seeing a Dr is difficult in NS because of the shortage of Doctors).

I did not hear anything back. There were several phone calls with *** and others during this whole period of time. I went to the doctor and got a new notation of my weight loss on a Rx pad and submitted it. I had read that it says I must attach an invoice and proof of payment (which I received from my nutritionist and submitted) and my doctor note about weight loss. It also said I must submit a "Signed 'thank you' letter". I assumed that was some form that I had to sign thanking them for the grant, but I could not find the form. I submitted the rest, even though it said make sure you have done all the things. I received an email saying I was refused because I did not upload a signed thank you letter.

I explained that I could not find the letter I was supposed to sign. I had looked at the information that they had originally mailed me and there were no directions. It was explained to me by *** that I HAD uploaded a Thank you letter, I just had not signed it. I was really confused at this point and assumed I must have pushed some form without realizing it. I assured her it was an oversite and I was more than willing to sign a letter. She said I was supposed to have written a thank you letter and signed it and since I did not sign it my case was closed and I was no longer eligible for the grant! I had some messages online with their message board explaining the problem.

Today I spoke with a supervisor of programs called ***. She told me the same thing. When I asked how it is possible that I have been told that I uploaded an unsigned thank you letter, she apologized and said she got my name mixed up with someone else who has a similar name and that was also the information *** has. I said that I have 30 days til my case closes and she said that was only before I pressed the "request grant" button. I explained that I have actually tried very hard to do things properly and it wasn't for lack of trying OR reaching out for their help.

I asked if there was anyone else I could speak with and she said no.

I asked her what percentage of grants they pay out because it seems that this whole system is actually set up so that no one ever gets paid out! She said there are no sats on that but that more than a hundred were given out last year and many people stop for personal reasons! This is unacceptable business practice. I have been mislead, given incorrect information on several occasions and mistaken for another client. I have reached out for help. But because I did not attach the letter at the proper time, they have denied me my grant.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be receive my grant. That is 80% of $2325.00 or $1860.00 I am more than willing to attach the letter that they request, although honestly, I find it very curious that they can deny refund of a contract due to lack of a personalized, thank you letter. I also request that they send clear statements of how to get the refund in the package that is sent with the contract. And that they write, clearly what is expected. "3. A signed "Thank You" letter" is not clear enough. I also ask that the Revdex.com investigate to see whether this is a business strategy of theirs... making it impossible to claim grants. I know of at least one other person who this has happened to.

The Weight Loss Grant Organization has rules and procedures that every applicant agrees to before they are allowed to apply.

*** did not follow the rules and as a result her grant request has been denied.

We consider this case closed.

Customer Response • Mar 16, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This has not addressed any of the issues I raised, particularly about the unclear instructions, lack of thorough instructions and also the fact that I was actually given different instructions at different times. I believe this company is purposely trying to make people fail, yet are gaining all of the positive publicity for widely advertising what they do. I was unable to even receive any statistics from them on the percentage of grants that they have honoured! I did the work, I followed their instructions to the best of my ability. Once I understood what their requirement was for a signed thank you letter, I had it prepared one day after my other paperwork was filled out and they refused to fill it out. The weight loss organization I worked with, *** (*** at www.***.ca) is also very upset about this situation and this can be followed up with her. I stand m=by my original complaint and would like more follow through by the Revdex.com:

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Mar 18, 2019

The Weight Loss Grant Organization has rules and procedures that every applicant agrees to before they are allowed to apply.

The information that is required has never changed from the time that *** applied for a grant: an Official Weight Declaration to start the program. an Official Weight Declaration at the deadline date, the invoices that show how much money was spent, and a signed thank you letter.

All documents are verified to ensure that they are genuine.

*** did not follow the rules and as a result her grant request has been denied.

I was approved for a weightloss grant in November 2017. My deadline to accomplish my goal was June 28, 2018. My goal was accomplished in May 2018. I was informed by the manager that I needed to send in all my completed forms and that I would receive my grant within a months time. All of my paperwork was submitted via their online system in June. I was sent an email saying my grant was approved and would be sent to me. Then I was contacted again saying they wanted me to rewrite my thank you letter. So I did that and submitted it in July. I was sent another email on August 14, 2018 saying that a cheque for $1,920 was being sent to me. I never received that cheque. I have since left them 6 messages on their message board. I have called a dozen times and left messages for my adjudicator and she has not returned any of my calls. The responses I've gotten on the message board are that there are others ahead of me, that my file has been escalated. I do not understand why my file needs to be escales if it's a matter of putting my Cheque in the mail. It has been 9 months since I submitted my documentation and 7 months since they informed me my cheque was coming. I only did this process because I thought I would get the money within a months time. The money has now sat on my visa and put me in debt. This process has not been transparent , professional or reliable. I am only asking for what a as promised to me. I hope for other people's sake that they are upfront about not providing their services in a realistic timeframe and that they hire employees to provide honest communication with their clients.

Desired Outcome

I would like my $1,920 owed to me.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Feb 26, 2019

's cheque is scheduled to be mailed during the week of May 6th.

Customer Response • Mar 12, 2019

I wanted to state that I am not satisfied with the resolution as the grant was supposed to be awarded to me last June. If I do receive it in May as the consumer responded, that will be almost one year late. That service timeline is unacceptable when clients are paying out of pocket in advance and not warned that their grant will not be received for a whole year.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Mar 14, 2019

Fraud mitigation procedures must be followed to ensure that applicants who submit false documents in order to obtain a grant cheque, are caught and not allowed to do so.

These procedure can add more time to the grant approval process.

I applied for a weight loss grant through this company with the understanding that I pay upfront for my weight loss program and once I reached my goal I could get 80% of my money back. I reached my goal, submitted all paperwork and waited. I was told 2-3 weeks after submitting everything that I would get a cheque sent in the mail. It's been 5 months I've sent several messages through the member portal and called the customer service line only to be told the same thing. There is an overwhelming request for grants at the same time so it's taking longer. Nobody will give me any more information. I've tried calling the program Manager only to get a message that her voicemail box is full and no messages can be left. Now I log in and the status of my account says rejected! Nobody is communicating with me and customer service says send a message through the member portal. My messages are not being returned. I'm starting to think this whole thing is a big ***!! The accredited service provider told me I'd get my money back but I'd have to pay 2400$ upfront and get 80% back once I lost my weight goal. Can you help get some answers for me?

Desired Outcome

Please answer my requests for information and process my grant request and issue my grant money as promised

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Mar 12, 2019

One of the fraud prevention procedures that we use is to mail the weigh-out declaration that is obtained through a doctor, back to the doctor to ensure that it is genuine. The procedure requires that the verification be sent by *** to ensure that the doctor's office exists.

In the case of ***, the verification form was returned to us by *** Return To Sender.

Without the attending doctor's verification, the grant application is refused.

We consider this case closed.

Customer Response • Mar 13, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The business did not tell me they had issues contacting my dr to verify my form. It is in a large hospital and if they did not address it properly then it would not have even got to the clinic therefore they would not received it. To close my file because of this is another excuse not to pay me what I am owed. The business never told me they even tried to verify with my dr or I would have helped them get in touch with my dr. I'm not a fraud and my dr exists. My dr verified that they did not receive anything from weight loss grants so how do I know that they even tried to mail anything? This is NOT acceptable and they should allow me to have my dr verifybwith them. If they need a proper mailing address and/ or contact name they need to ask me! I have attached the form again that has accurate dr address on it. *** This is ridiculous. Just because something is returned doesn't mean the person and address doesn't exist. Try contacting the customer for verification! Which they didn't. I'm not accepting this

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Mar 14, 2019

The verification email is mailed back to the address that is on the submitted weigh out declaration.

It is not the responsibility for the grant organization to verify that the applicant and the attending doctor are using the correct addresses.

We consider this file closed.

Started my program with WEIGHT LOSS GRANTS.
Closing date for myself was Oct 8 2018 at which time I had 30 days to upload all my documentation. I was successful in losing my weight and had to go to my family doctor for my final weigh out which I submitted to Weight Loss Grants. My contract stated that upon losing the weight and uploading all my documentation, I would receive my reimbursement about 45 days later.
It is now Feb. 19, 2019 and I have still not received my payout.
I have made many attempts to contact *** and I been unsuccessful.
On Feb. 15, 2019 I received a message from *** (WLG) and she said my weigh out form had to be sent to my doctor for verification (yes my doctor signed off on my weight loss) but I understand that there is procedures and policies to follow to prevent ***.
I contacted my doctors office today and they confirmed that they received a letter from WLG asking for the doctor to verify. M y doctor received this letter on Jan 10, 2019 and has sent the paperwork back to WLG.
I am unsure why WLG is telling me they have to send the form to my doctors and once they receive the form, they will verify all my other documents.
I posted a review on *** and someone from WLG commented and ask me to provide my WLG ID number so they could follow up with me. I submitted my number and have not heard from anyone.
I am expecting 80% back of what I put into the program and it is approximately $1680.
I have waited 4 months even though my contract states payout is about 45 days after.

Desired Outcome

I would like *** to contact me and confirm that she has received my weigh out form back from my doctors office which was sent to WLG in mid Jan 2019. I would also like to know when to expect my refund cheque. I would also like Weight Loss Grant organization to advise their clients that there is a back log of payouts and be honest with the public about when people should expect their refund. WLG needs to change their website from 45 days to something that is real.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Feb 26, 2019

As part of our standard security and *** prevention procedure, ***'s weigh-out declaration has been mailed to the health care professional who conducted the weigh-out to verify the authenticity of the information.

We have not received the reply yet.

We suggest to all applicants to ask their doctor to email of postal mail a copy of the verification form to us.

We have asked *** to get in contact with her doctor and ask them to send the form again.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Hello
I contacted my doctors office on Friday Feb 22, 2019 to confirm they received my weigh out form from WLG.
They confirmed they received it Jan 10, 2019
My doctor signed it & faxed it back as per the instructions.
*** WLG is now saying that they have not received the form from my doctor but my doctor has a confirmation fax dated for Jan 2019 that it was sent.
I called my doctors office & ask them to resend the paperwork to WLG which they did on Friday Feb 22
I have reached out to WLG several times to ask for confirmation that they have received the paperwork.
Nobody at WLG is acknowledging the receipt of the fax from my doctor.

I believe that the first fax sent to WLG in JANUARY was lost or misplaced at WLG company.
I have proof that it was faxed by my doctor to WLG in JAN.
Also WLG is still not acknowledging why my payout has taken over 4 months to process even though I sent in my paperwork on time.
The website indicates that payouts are issued 45 days
I believe there is only one adjudicator who is working on payout files.
They need to be honest with the public or change their website to reflectthe proper time frame for payouts.
They continue to place blame on my part in saying they are waiting for my doctor to send the paperwork back.
I even OFFERED to go to my doctors office & get the form & bring it to the WLG office in Toronto.
*** has not even commented on that.... just keeps saying she is waiting on form to be sent back by my doctor.
It was sent to the office of WLG on Friday Feb 22 2019

We will contact *** once the fax is confirmed.

Customer Response • Mar 07, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Weight Loss Grants has not contacted me.
Once again I repeat.... my contract states that payout/reimbursement is within 45 days of submitting documentation. I submitted on Oct 26, 2018
I have been waiting 4 & a half months.
Weight Loss Grants has confirmed they have received all my documentation but are choosing not process my file. I am unsure why & I have sent numerous emails asking why.
I have not got a response as to why.

I first applied for the weight loss grant in November of 2017 which was immediately accepted. I was referred to the *** for my weight loss program. I agreed to lose the minimum weight required to trigger my refund. I payed $2400 to use the program of which helped me to lose 30 pounds. I then submitted my weigh out form to the weight loss grant organization in June of 2018. In July of 2018 they approved a refund of $1920 of which I have yet to receive. I had been waiting patiently for a cheque and then in December I finally was able to contact someone, after being on hold for 2 hours, who told me they were backed up with applications etc. and that my cheque would be sent soon. Still nothing.

Desired Outcome

I would like to receive the grant that I signed up for and worked hard to earn. They are still advertising weight loss grants on tv. I hope that this is not how they are conducting the whole program for everyone who signs up. I need my money back.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Feb 11, 2019

Customer Response • Feb 11, 2019

I have already waited over 6 months. I had to pay up front for the program with no choice as to when I handed over my money. There was no indication of having to wait this long to receive my money back when I signed up. I would like the check now please.

Weight Loss Grants Organization Response • Feb 12, 2019

I am sorry that you have to wait longer than you had hoped for. Your grant cheque has been scheduled for mailing during the week of April 1st.
