Review: I had a broken torsion spring on my garage door. I called A1 Garage Door Repair and asked about pricing and was quoted a range for springs and labor. I specifically asked about a trip charge twice and was told no. When serviceman arrived at my home, he quoted the pricing for a spring replacement and labor and also mentioned that the cables should be replaced and the total would now be almost $400 including an additional $89.95 for cables + labor. I told serviceman that I should not be charged for extra labor for $15 cables since there is no load when the springs are being replaced. I told him I wanted one day to think over the bigger cost of the job, he demanded 62.95 as a trip charge. I explained to him that I asked about the trip charge and was told there was none. He demanded the trip charge if we did not do the work. I ended up doing the work but felt coerced into it. Therefore I have two problems: 1. The trip charge which I asked about otherwise I would have never asked them to come out. 2. The cost for cable replacement when it is being done as a part of spring replacement I was double charged for labor.Desired Settlement: I should be refunded the extra labor charged for the cables and the fuel surcharge which would equal $87.90.

Normally I am skeptical about trying a new business but when my garage door broke, I took a chance and called A1 after seeing their ad. The person who answered the phone was pleasant and accommodating scheduling my repair the next afternoon. The technician showed up on time, was dressed neatly, well-mannered and worked clean. The door was repaired in no time and at a reasonable price. The technician made a few recommendations but at no point was I made to feel pressured into making a decision. I would gladly recommend A1 for their quick response and their ability to get the job done!

[redacted], Owner of A-1 personally came out to my residence and corrected his staff's shortcoming's that occurred on March 17th, 2014 and are listed in this company's negative experience section. This was a positive experience on the 20th of March. I owe his response to the effectiveness of this site and the owner's desire to repair damage caused by his staff's poor performance to his company reputation. I am now negative positive experience leaves me with a neutral opinion of the company, but a desire to give Mr. [redacted] a second chance in the future.

I am writing this review because I was extremely impressed with the service I received today. My Garage door was not operating properly & needed a new strut. I went online & did my homework looking at reviews. I called A1 Garage Door Service & to my delight someone was able to come the same day. [redacted] (Lead Technician) was the serviceman that came to the rescue. He was very courteous & knew exactly what needed to be done. A new strut was 119.00 and labor was only 69.00 for a grand total of 198.95. I will be calling A1 Garage Door Service requesting for [redacted] for any of my future needs. If you are looking for a reliable garage door service company - search no further! The garage door opener in one of my rental properties wasn't working properly so I contacted my home warranty company. They dispatched a service company that failed to contact me to arrange scheduling. I finally called the home warranty back and they dispatched A1 Garage Door Service. These folks are extremely customer service friendly, quick to respond, and the workmanship was stellar. After getting with me to understand the problem, these folks took over and did all the work for me! They contacted my tenant, arranged the scheduling, repaired the garage door opener, and then followed up with me to let me know all was good to go! WOW - one stop shopping - almost unheard of in today's service industry. Kudos to A1 - I'll definitely be a repeat customer!

Review: I ordered 1 Garage Door Torsion Spring Replacement Kit which includes one left-wound spring and one right-wound spring.

I received 2 right-wound springs.

Company will not acknowledge that I was sent two right-wound springs even though I have shown clear proof of my claim.Desired Settlement: Accept return of merchandise and issue refund.

I want to acknowledge A1 Garage Door Service & say what a reputable company they are. Their service rendered along with their on time service was outstanding. Great to see a company that takes pride in their work. I highly recommend them to my family & friends.

Amazing customer service from the moment their receptionist picked up the phone. I explained to them the issues I was having with my door and they had someone out the next morning!

The initial phone conversation was straight forward, with accurate prices quoted to me. The next morning, [redacted] showed up within the quoted timeframe and assessed my door issues, gave me a reasonable final cost and got straight to work! He was done overhauling my door in under an hour! I never knew my 30 year old garage door could be that quiet!

Most certainly will do business again in the future and will recommend them to anyone in need of service!

I called on A1 Garage Door Service on Saturday and made an appointment for Sunday, the next day. I was impressed that they were even open on Sunday and there was no extra charge because of the weekend, impressed again. ** arrived early, did some trouble shooting, then clearly explained the problem: bad logic board and broken strut. He gave me a very reasonable estimate of cost and I said "Let's do it." He went to work and in a few hours I had a new opener and a reinforced door. I'm a happy camper. I highly recommend A1 for these reasons: 1. Quck response 2. Punctuality 3. Knowledgable technicians 4. Reasonable price 5. Quality work. If I need garage door work in the future, I will call A1 again with confidence.

A1 does thorough background checks on their employees, and that makes me feel very comfortable. Ed was great, he showed up on time, got to work, and fixed up my garage door wonderfully. It used to be very loud, now it’s smooth & quiet. I am very impressed with A1…. I’m a very happy & loyal customer. Highly recommend!

Called this company for what was advertised as a "free estimate" to see about hiring them to perform repairs on my garage door. The office confirmed their representative would arrive between 2 pm and 4 pm Saturday 10-5-13. While away at a business lunch, my wife called at 12:45 and said that the A1 representative is "here to fix the garage door and wants to speak to you NOW!" I advsied that our appointment was NOT until 2pm and he blamed the office staff. I advised the technition - [redacted] - that I will NOT do anything (sign, hire them, etc.) until I could come home and at least see what he was trying to sell me (repair wise) and offered for him to wait in his truck (as my wife was alone in the house and I did not want him waiting there) and he said that "he would not do that as he had another 2 pm appointment already set up." I advised that is fine - then he can leave the estimate for me to review once I got home I can decide if what he is quoting me (as he found other items he deemed as neccesary to repair and would only do the entire job - not "part of it") is fair and warranted. He then advised he "would NOT leave until I paid the "mandatory $50 service call PLUS an additional $12.95 mandatory fuel charge = total $62.95". I advised he was to "get out of my house immediately" and if he attempted to force my wife to sign or pay anything I would call the police.

[redacted] then left the estimate and advised my wife "consider this a bill which we WOULD STILL HAVE TO PAY" and he then left.

I am also going to file a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General's office as this could border on criminal harrassment.
