Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/04/23) */
Customer was contacted. The item will be returned at the store within the next few days. Customer was told by Revdex.com that we were contacted, however we just received the notice this week. Customer was advised to feel free to contact our store...

management team for any issues with customer service going forward to provide a quicker response.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/04/30) */

On December 29, 2014, I filed a complaint with you regarding the refusal of the Bass Pro Shop located at [redacted] Mesa, AZ to exchange a box of 7MM ammo that did not fit in my son's gun for & 7 mm Mauser ammo which is a different size. Eventually I received an email that your agency did not receive a response from Bass Pro and the case was closed. Last week I received a call from an employee at Bass Pro agreeing to exchange the ammunition I purchased. I returned the box immediately (before they changed their minds!) and did receive a box of the Mauser ammunition we can use. I just wanted to let you know, this complaint was resolved successfully, although it took some time, and I will continue to shop at Bass Pro with confidence! Thank you.

I am writing this in regards to ID [redacted] the Aamco Transmissions that the consumer is speakingabout is not this center.  His transmission and transfer case were done at the Aamco in [redacted],the address is [redacted], [redacted]. The transmission was out of warranty when...

wewere contacted, however we did check the transmission out for the customer, and found he did nothave a transmission problem at that time. The customer then contacted us about his transfer case, which he stated was still under warranty, at that t¡me he was advised that he would have to go to hisoriginal Aamco as his warranty states that if he is within 40 mile of the original center then he has totake his vehicle there for warranty repair and his home address is 32 miles from the Aamco in [redacted]where the work was performed.  So our recommendation is for the customer to contact the originalcenter for any warranty repair.Thank You[redacted]Center Manager

Dear [redacted],
I would like to thank you again for bringing your vehicle to our center for your recent repairs. I know that you chose our business because you felt confident in the services that we could provide to you. It is clear from your complaint to the Revdex.com that I had failed to meet your...

expectations. I apologize again for not being clear about the parts option and time for delivery associated with those options. As we have discussed, I will strive to better clarify these options in the future.
I am so glad that we were able to turn your experience with AAMCO around and that you are clearly happy with the results of the repairs and services. I really appreciate you taking time call me and express how happy you are with the work that we've completed on your car. Furthermore, thank you for taking your time to write such a gracious review on yelp.
I wish you many happy years with your RX-8!
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:

To whom it may concern, We made an honest attempt to repair the axle seal leak on this van.  We stand behind our work 100%.  The customer's refusal to bring it back to an AAMCO facility for warranty work is making this more difficult than it has to be.  The customer was charged $145.48 to replace the axle seal in question.  We will refund this amount to the customer after they bring in a copy of the receipt showing that they paid someone else to fix it. Thank you,Ron K[redacted]Manager, AAMCO Surprise

We have contacted Ms. [redacted] to let her know that we have corrected the delivery issues with her carrier.  We have also credited her account accordingly and have provided her the direct line to our distribution center in case of further issues.  If anything else is needed to resolve this...

matter, please contact me at the email address on my account.  Thank you and have a great day![redacted]

First, thanks for the opportunity to address this concern. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction, and intend to make that happen.          As to [redacted]'s concerns. On 5/30/2016 her boyfriend [redacted], called to have the...

car towed into our shop with a transmission problem. We were not told that he didn't own the car. We did a diagnostic, and found an internal transmission problem. [redacted] authorized a removal and inspection of the transmission on  6/1/2016 at 6:05 pm, using his date of birth as the authorization,, 12/05/76.  We removed the transmission, and called [redacted] to go over the price. On 6/13/2016 at 5:59 pm, he authorized the repair on the transmission at the cost of 3892.52 plus tax. as a verbal authorization, he used the last 4 numbers of his social security number,2486. we then did the repair.         Before [redacted] made this complaint with you folks, she came down to our shop, and said she had a new car, and was going to sell this one, and got some things out of it. When I received the notice of this complaint, I called [redacted], to try to work out a solution. After talking to her, I applied a discount and removed all but my hard cost, bringing the bill down to 2500.00 plus tax of 171.25=2671.25. [redacted] didn't have the money, but said she would come down to our shop and apply for rc willey credit. I waited for her until about 7:00 pm, and called her. She said she had tried the credit at the rc Willey store, and was turned down. I tried to call her the next day to find out what the new game plan is, but she was to busy to talk.        I would love to resolve this issue, but dont know what else I can do. The repair was in fact authorized, and I am still willing to let her have the car, with the new transmission at the reduced price. I am available to discuss this further if you wish. Thanks,   Kurt W[redacted] 801-556-2325

There is a large sign behind the counter that clearly states, "AAMCO Transmissions is not responsible for loss or theft of any articles left in vehicle, or any vandalism damage, or damages of unknown orign to vehicles left". When the cars are actively being worked on they are left inside in the bay....

When cars are finished and are waiting for payment and/or pickup the cars are placed outside.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2015/05/14) */
It is the customer chose to take and authorize some one else to repair. We will not pay unless we authorize that repair. We have no proof that there was ever another problem. Sorry for the inconvience. Thank You [redacted]

We have contacted the insurance company regarding Ms. [redacted] request for reimbursement. The insurance company has agreed to pay the shop for the tear down fee. Therefore we will be able to reimburse Ms. [redacted] for the teardown fee. We will need Ms. [redacted] mailing address so that we...

can send her a check.

I accept the refund for the service .. But It was definitely not enough to pay me for my time and trouble. I definitely  do not  appreciate the tone of the letter making it seems that  it was just because I was disappointed.  I provided them with pictures  and the manager   agreed it was bad work by their company . Also She claimed she was out on sick leave and was not there that day when indeed she was ! I do not appreciate being lied to.  Maybe they should have told the corporate office about the pictures and what I was told.

On October 12th 2015 [redacted] came in to Aamco Transmissions to have his 1998 [redacted] checked. The customers main concern was to inspect front passenger side brakes there making noise. Check and advise. Technician could not properly test drive vehicle because brakes were metal...

to metal. Vehicle was unsafe to drive. Manager advised customer the following needed replacement: Front Pads, Front Rotors, Front Calipers and brake hoses.  Customer was also advised that air filter and belt needed replacement, as well as a basic oil change.  Customer authorized everything but the oil change (which he said he would do himself)  As a courtesy for all past work done by this customer we did the oil change at no charge.
Technician completed work and went on a finally test drive. When the technician came back from his test drive he then explained the vehicle was running rough. Technician said vehicle may need a tuneup we would need more time to diagnose.  The manager advised customer, customer declined to go a head with any other repairs and just want to take care of his brakes at this time.
On October 12th 2015 Customer called Aamco after hours in the evening. Customer was complaining that vehicle was overheating. At that time Aamco towed the vehicle in at no charge.
On October 13th 2015 our technician inspected the 98 [redacted]. Technician did duplicate customers concern. Vehicle was overheating as well as the check engine light being on. Technician scanned the vehicle for any codes. The following codes were retrieved: P1258 ECT Circuit/metal over temp protect, P1599 CC Power Management mode or engine stall. The over heating problem has nothing to do with any of the previous repair work done at this center. We replaced thermostat and radiator cap which are known common problems with the [redacted] Motor, several more hours of diagnostics where done, and confirmed a head gasket leak.  Which has nothing to do with the repair work that we did on this car.
Customer asked us to tow the car to another shop that purchased the car.  All diagnostics, as well as the thermostat and radiator cap and tow where done at no charge to customer. Further more, we advised that customer that if he was purchasing another used car what we would do a no charge inspection for him on that car as well.
Though unfortunate, the failure of the head gasket has nothing to do with any of the repair work that has been done on this car and further more is a known failure to this motor.

Mr. [redacted]You have a warranty on your transmission rebuild AT 700 AAmco locations. It covers parts and labor 100%. we are a reputable shop. To date we have an A+rating with the Revdex.com. Bring your vehicle in and we'll take care of the transmission problem. There's is no problem we cant solve and we...

always take care of our customers. Regards,Your friends at AAMCO

I am mechanically inclined and my step dad owned Auto Repair shop. Rocky " The Owner of AAMCO " Prove to me that he is an excellent mechanic. He explained to me exactly what was wrong with my car and repaired it. In addition he found a couple of unexpected problems and repaired them for free! He also was very considerate with my budget and displayed excellent communication skills.

This place will rip you off! They tried to charge me $5500 for a rebuilt transmission. Luckily I shopped around and found it not to be my transmission, which was working just fine! I would've spent $5500 and my car still wouldn't have run. That is very dishonest. They are also very pushy and lied to me telling me my husband agreed it should be fixed, like Inwouldnt talk to him! Never again would I go there and I'd tell everyone to stay far away!

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
In front of witnesses, I told the manger I wanted my
transmission put back together so I could bring it to the dealer.  I never said it would save me money to bring
it to the dealer disassembled (I said it will cost me money)!  I can get a written statement from [redacted]
stating the disservice I received from Aamco .
I am just a consumer with no knowledge of transmissions, which is why we
get second opinions on car repairs.  Only
AFTER I got upset and dissatisfied with the service I received from the manager
at Aamco, did they agree to give the lifetime warranty, and it is not the same
transmission as the dealer could give me – the $400 savings is a joke.  At that point I didn’t trust anything they
said, and I was not about to have them fix my car.  When I spoke to the manager at Aamco (in
front of witnesses) he stated that I HAD to pay in cash on ‘this deal’.  I had to haggle with him in order to accept
my [redacted] card, in which he agreed.  THEN,
when it came time to have my car towed to the dealer the manager called me on
the phone and stated “the owner is saying that you have to pay in cash to get
your car”, then I said “but, you agreed to take my [redacted] in front of
witnesses!”, than the manager said “it is not my choice, the owner said you
have to pay in cash”.  So I paid it,
because, I had a tow truck waiting for me, and the dealer waiting on my car,
and I needed my car fixed!!  I WAS FORCED
TO PAY CASH!  So, not only do I want
Aamco to pay for my transmission to be put back together,  I want an apology  from the
owner regarding the request that I had to pay cash. [redacted] also made a statement in writting that Aamco damaged my shift cable, which cost me an additional $256
Regards,
[redacted]

Mr [redacted] had his expedition towed in to repair a leak from the front of his transmission.  At that time he had been preapproved for 600 minus his down payment on the repairs.  Unfortunately his truck needed more extensive repairs than what they had stated on the phone and the transmission...

needed to be rebuilt due to more extensive damage.  We then attempted to get his wife financed for the repairs but unfortunately the finance companies did not approve her.  The key was lost in the process but we did purchase a new key at no charge to the customer.  The battery in their truck was no good and it was in fact replaced with a new one.  I even went as far to finance Mr and Mrs [redacted] on part of the repairs because they did not have the funds to pay for the vehicle.  I understand that their interest is high on the title loan they took out to pay for part of the repairs but they did have the finance company pay off an existing title loan they had on the vehicle from another loan company.  We do not control interest rate for the finance companies.  I even gave them a key fob from my expedition so they had one.  We will not be refunding money on this job but I am wondering what you mean by an exchange?

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Allow me to address Mr [redacted] slanderous, insulting and farcical response to my complaint of inadequate and incomplete repairs to my car dated 10/07/2014. 1. I went to his shop simply because a new mechanic to this shop ([redacted]) had worked on my car within that prior year on a transmission that I had replaced. I called [redacted]'s previous employer who told me that he was no longer there. I had his number and called him and he gave me the address of his new employer which turned out to be this Aamco. His very personable manager [redacted] seemed familiar to me but I didn't give it much thought. I included a picture of the damage cause by his shop on that occasion (cracked wood) 2 1/2 years earlier. A local Jaguar dealer told me that the part would cost $900. 2. I went there with the specific purpose of having the work done as stated on the work order under DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM. Nothing less. As you can see there is nothing entered under ADDITIONAL REPAIRS DECLINED. 3. I only realized there was a problem with the repair on my drive home from the shop on 10/7/2014 when the ABS light came back on. I immediately pulled over, still on 51st Ave and called [redacted] and was informed FOR THE FIRST TIME, that the ABS was not repaired. 4. I disputed the charge the next day. GE did not decide anything other then it was not their job, as a bank, to determine who was right or wrong. 5.The harassment and extortion is particularly offensive since I was never hostile or belligerent. I never argued or raised my voice to [redacted] who I felt was simply mistaken, not criminal, and only recall speaking with him perhaps one more time before he left with some illness in November. In fact, it is Mr. [redacted] who had me come to the shop before Thanksgiving wherein we agreed that I would pay between approximately $60-$100 for a used ABS module and Aamco would install it at no additional cost. Although I had already paid him for this repair and believed that it would be with a new part, I accepted his offer because I wanted the ordeal to be over. We shook on it. I waited for him to acquire the module and call me. With the holidays I did not press the issue. I believe that it was just after Christmas when I called and spoke with Mr [redacted] and he told me then that "legal" would not allow him to put in a used ABS module. I doubted the truth of the statement but I asked that if I acquired the module if he would install it. He said yes. I asked for the agreement in writing this time since the last agreement wasn't honored and I didn't want to buy a module and not have someone set to install it..and strongly sensed that I was getting put off. He said that he would send me something in writing but did not and the last time we spoke when he said, that he would "try" to send me something in writing and getting tired of his games, I insisted on knowing if he would or would not send in writing that he would install the module that I purchased. Finally.. he said that he would not and would not complete anything..ever. I hope that Mr [redacted]'s use of names and accusation of a "campaign of harassment and extortion" gives you a measure of this man's character. Using [redacted]'s illness to demean me is pathetic in itself. The scope of work is the DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM and is clear, as well as clearly not done.Regards,[redacted]

Revdex.com:At this time, I have not been contacted by Aamco Transmissions regarding complaint ID [redacted].After I wrote my original complaint I had to bring my truck BACK to the shop once again due to another faulty part in my "new"...

transmission.  I was not offered any type of compensation by the manager [redacted], and he even told me that it was not his problem if I broke down at 3AM in the middle of nowhere due to a transmission problem.  This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE as I regularly have my six month old niece in my truck with me.  Please see to it that I will no longer be responsible for payments for the transmission job that was never done correctly in the first place.  I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.  Sincerely,[redacted]
