Aamco Transmissions Reviews (448)

I was surprised by the negative reviews, but I guess people are more likely to review a business if they are unhappy. We have lived in Blacksburg for almost 20 years and have used AAMCO multiple times, including in the past week. We've been satisfied with their work and warranty service. Their people have been friendly and helpful in explaining the problems and plans. Yes, there have been times that we have had to return after the work has been completed, as we have every other place we have ever taken cars, but have always found them to be more than helpful and fair in correcting problems. We would not hesitate to recommend AAMCO in Blacksburg to friends and family.

On July 10th my husband and I brought my 2006 Jeep Commander into your Aamco dealer at 7201 Garfield Ave., Huntington Beach, CA because my car’s “transmission over temp” light had been coming on, and on that particular day it was stuck in 3rd gear. We paid $850 to have them put the car on diagnostics to see what the problem is. I have since learned, after asking a few different mechanics, that many garages do not do this and check it for free. On this day, my car had 87,162 miles on it.

On July 13th Steve called me to let me know that I needed a new transmission. The price he quoted over the phone was $3400 and that he would be rebuilding the whole transmission. We said to take care of it so we could get our car back as we had a family trip coming up.

On July 15th Steve called to tell me the car was ready. We picked it up, and the price was now $3628.48. This now brings my total to $4478.48. He proceeded to tell us in now way, shape, or form should we take it on a trip after having the transmission rebuilt. That things could go wrong and we could get stuck somewhere. My husband and I were a little taken back by this statement. If he just rebuilt my transmission, shouldn’t it run properly when we pick it up? We take it home.

On July 17th, just a few days after picking it up, the “transmission over temp” light came on and it got stuck in 3rd gear again. In those few days that we had it back, we drove back and forth once to Irvine (13 miles each way) and that is it. This was a huge inconvenience, as we were going out of town on our family trip and needed the space this car provided. We had our father bring it in. Our father drops it off. We are told “we see what the problem is and will have it fixed right away”. A few days later, we get the car back. It sits in our driveway until we get back from our trip on August 1st. I drive back and forth to work (2 miles each way) on the 3rd and 4th .

On the evening of August 4th, I get in my car to go somewhere and, once again, the “transmission over temp” light comes on. Steve says to bring it in. I tell him I cannot be without a car for work and family needs. He tells me he will get me a car.

On August 5th, I bring the car back to Aamco. He tells me just get the rental car for a few days and we should have it done. I get the car from Hertz rental per Steve’s instructions and price point.

On August 7th, I called Steve to see how it was going and he said the car should be ready Monday. After many calls to Aamco, and many false promises, I was instructed my car was now done and I could come get it. This was on August 26th... 21 days later. Through these 3 weeks, I received daily phone calls from Hertz saying I was in breech of contract and needed to bring the rental car back. I would call Steve and ask him to contact them with a date. He kept telling me he would, but after speaking with Hertz, I found out he never contacted them.

When I picked up my car on August 26th, Steve told me there was some kind of noise coming from underneath the car when they “test drove” it. I told him that I thought I may need new brake pads. He said it was more of a clunking sound. This was absolutely not something it was doing before. I also noticed a long scratch on the passenger side of the car. As if someone had keyed the car. I was told to take the car and drive it for 10 days and look for any other problems and when I bring it back in they will have the scratch taken care of. I was also told that they put gas in the car (my fault for trusting them and not checking when I got in). I pulled away and got about 1/2 mile when my car said “0 miles until empty” with no gas station in sight. I barely made it to the gas station (2 miles) and took a picture of the notification of no gas.

That is when I noticed something sketchy. My mileage.

Remember, up until this point, I have driven my car a total of about 34 miles. For sake of argument, let’s round up and say 50. The picture I took, less than 3 miles from leaving Aamco showed my mileage as now being 87,886 miles. That is 724 miles more than when I first brought the car in. I though, surely that can’t be correct, so I looked at Aamco’s paperwork and in fact, this was correct.

I can only deduct that while someone from Aamco stole my car for a 3 week, 700 mile joy ride, something happened that is now causing the “clunking sound” from underneath my car.

On September 3rd, I received a letter in the mail from thetollroads.com that I owed $7.78 by 9/26/15 for using the toll road and that my car is subject to lien if it is not paid by 10/26/15. I never take the toll roads, so I couldn’t imagine why I was getting this. Then I looked at the date. The toll was taken on 8/17/15, while in Aamco’s possession.

I will NOT be taking my car back to Aamco in 10 days as instructed as this station has proven time and time again to be fraudulent and shady in their actions. I have also contacted Aamco Corporate , spoke with someone who said they would “look into it”, left many messages since and have received no answer.

Review: Took vehicle in for repairs to Aamco in Huntington Beach on 9/10/14. [redacted] was the mechanic on duty. Discussed issues to be repaired. Picked up car a couple weeks later, still experienced same issues. Took to Aamco in Santa Ana who said to take it back to Huntington Beach shop. Took back on 9/24/14. While mechanic was working on the the car he inadvertently reconnected the wires wrong and caused the wire harness/TCU/ECU/and Battery to burn out. Had to have the car towed to South Coast Mitsubishi for inspection, who confirmed this damage. Contacted Aamco who then stated that it was a manufacturing defect and they couldnt fix the problem.Desired Settlement: I would like for Aamco to either repair the damage they caused or find someone (reputable) who can repair the damage they caused at their expense and to refund me the towing fees which I would not have incurred if they hadnt made this error in the first place.

AAMCO Total Car Care 7201 Garfield Ave. Huntington Beach, Ca 92648 Revdex.com4747 Viewridge Ave. #200San Diego, Ca 9212311/18/2014Re: [redacted]/1991 Dodge StealthDear Revdex.com,Thank you for your recent inquiry and equal opportunity attitude towards this and any complaint voicedthrough your bureau.Though sounding like a genuine complaint, there is far more to this story than a burned out wiringharness and a hole in the battery. This complaint stems from an issue that we have been struggling against since the first day Mr. [redacted]arrived at our facility. He continually believes he should have his complete car repaired for free. His original request was to have the transmission repaired under warranty, and that someone repairedhis wiring but had no paperwork stating this ( he did have paperwork for the transmission )We agreed to address his transmission problem at no charge but his vehicle had multiple problems thatwould have a say in how the vehicle performed once the transmission was repaired. We advised him to repair these issues before driving the vehicle because it would damage the unit ifthese repairs weren't completed i.e. throttle position sensor/wiring harness/ABS issue. He chose to drive the vehicle anyway and burned up the rebuilt unit and It was back at our shop again. So, we rebuilt his unit a second time at no charge and advise him in the same manner that he will haveto put addition work to this vehicle before it would operate correctly. For Mr. Kapellar to state that someone "inadvertently" reconnected wires wrong is not what happened.Whomever worked on this vehicle before it came to our facility created a rats nest out of his wiringharness. Putting it back to how it was supposed to be is not "inadvertently" doing anything. We believe the wiring harness in question was already falling before we touched his vehicle and all thedealer can say is what they see.The dealer invoice did not state that something was incorrect; it stated there was damage to theharness which we noted upon its arrival. (I will include this invoice with this response)Whatever Mr. [redacted]'s financial situation happens to be; the fact remains that the vehicle needs morework then his AAMCO warranty allows. These issues are not covered by the implied warranty. The onlything covered by this warranty is the transmission. To date, the only money Mr. [redacted] has spent on this vehicle was to have the dealer tell himsomething we already told him at no cost.We appreciate the opportunity to explain what transpired while Mr. [redacted]s vehicle was at ourfacility. We hope that this response will shed light on what the main problem in this complaint is.If the vehicles numerous problems were corrected and the transmission somehow still acts up wewould be happy to assist Mr. [redacted] within the limits of his AAMCO warranty. Our facility has gone far and beyond what is covered and yet, somehow we are peOple that stand In theway of his vehicle operating correctly. The only thing that stands in the way of Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle operating correctly is Mr. [redacted].His refusal to correct the vehicles other issues will continue to hamper its drivability and will make itdifficult to surmise if the work done on the transmission is sound. In closing, it should be noted that this complaint is not a reflection on AAMCO Huntington Beach'sability to repair vehicles; but a complaint about a person's financial status and ability to try to have abureau attempt to force someone else to finance his additional repairs. Sincerely, [redacted] AAMCO Huntington Beach

I've been going and getting all my cars fixed with them at aamco for 3years now, and they take real good care of me!!!

Review: I went to Aamco to get my AC fixed in my vehicle. Told them the window on the driver side doesn't rolldown there is a part broken and it doesn't roll back up. When they were finished with the AC I found they had rolled the window down. When I asked them to fix it. they told me they won't make any money from it and refused to do anything. Now I have to pay someone else to remove my door panel and fix what they broke.Desired Settlement: Mainly just reporting their business practices, but fixing my window would be nice.

Business

Response:

Prior to servicing vehicle, consumer never informed business of window not functioning properly. Therefore, we are not responsible for any issues that may have arose due to his lack of communication.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: this is false. I told the guy at the counter, I either need to get the a/c fixed or the window because the window regulator is broken and the window does not roll down. I also told him if you roll it down the window will not come back up. The window also would not go down on its own for me. It would have to be forced down. I was also not given an explanation of what was wrong with my a/c.

Business

Response:

We appologize for his broken window, but we have nothing noted on the work order of a window problem. We believe he may of said after the fact.We can repair the window at a discount if he likes. $75.00 labor plus parts...

False estimates, constant conflict with manager, does not complete repairs, court procedures nescessary and cost to customer, service not provided.

Review: I towed my 2000 [redacted] truck to Aamco in Modesto, Ca on a Friday. They let me know that they will let me know on Monday the problem. They said they have to take off the Differential Plate off to see whats going on. I a greed. They tried to call me a couple of times during the week, but I was unable to answer at that time. I called back that same week and ask what was wrong. They told me it was the Differential and it will be $2200. I said no I will get back to you. I showed up Friday Morning and spoke tothe General Manager. After speaking to him, he brought the price down to $900. He does"nt come off as a honest person. I came back with a tow truck to take it back to my house. Upon arriving I noticed my truck was missing a rear passenger window. I spoke to manager about it. He said he is not responsible for the window missing, then accused me off bring it in that way. I did not bring it in with out window. I told manager I will pay him for his work on the truck(inspecting it), but I want him to pay for the window. Well, the manager and owner went crazy, calling me names and telling me to get the F$ out here. They did not charge me for looking at truck ($59), but I will need to replace window $300. I want them to take care of the window, and they can deduct $ 59 from it. By the way I fixed the differential myself for $160. Took me only 2 hours.Desired Settlement: Pay for window ($300) and deduct cost of service to the Truck. THey only inspected truck. They told me $59.

Review: I went to them on the suspicion my clutch was going out, [redacted] the front desk attendant told me the would check it out. Next day [redacted] called me stating my clutch was fine that my u-joints were messed up, after three calls of other findings my bill came to 990.00 after I denied work to my engine mount that was supposedly broken. When I went to pick up my truck they were finishing up, so I walked back to talk to the mechanic about the engine mount and looked under my truck that was still lifted up. Engine mount was not broken, when I asked him about it he said nervously (he meant they were extremely wheathered). So they put it back together and I took my truck home. Two weeks later my clutch goes out. The same clutch they said was fine.Wednesday when I took it back to AAMCO they said it was my clutch. I had to fix it so I left it with them. [redacted] gave me a Quote of 750, to 850 of course it was 850 plus taxes that came out to 910. Friday took my truck home expecting never to see the again. NO, when I left my truck was running real badly, shaking like crazy got home and called AAMCO he said bring it back on Monday. I thought since I knew my truck I would look it over, maybe I would see the problem. After hours of trying to figure it out I find twelve inches of a broken 2x4 behind my distributor, obviously no one test drove my truck before returning it to me, prior to notifying me it was ready for pick up . [redacted] had called me stating that it was running smoothly. Two of my wires were knocked off by the chunk of wood. I then hooked up my own wires and test drove it. The truck still ran a little rough but drivable. Next day I wake up to a puddle of fluid from my transfer case and my transmission. On Monday I went back to aamco and spoke directly to the owner of business, he just blew me off didn't care and was not going to do anything to help he stated he was "busy", yelling at me and continued to do his own thing as if I didn't matter, even though I mentioned his mechanics left a 2x4 in my motor.Desired Settlement: requested to transfer my warranty to other aamco, tom denied request suggested to me to take vehicle back to shop he would repair at no cost to me but all it was done was wood removed nothing was fixed for leaks on transfer case or other issues. I would like this case to be examined to its fullest and resolve my issues. Aamco is the worst shop I have ever done business with and will never recommend any person to them . Im only asking to transfer my case to another shop for 2nd opinion @ n/chg

[redacted] called us 2 days after clutch job performed, stated he saw a 2x4,and that the engine ran rough,he saw 2 plug wires loose,he than reconnected the loose plug wires and engine ran good afterwards.Than he stated ther was an oil leak. I(Tom) appoligized about the 2x4,asked if he could bring the vehicle back,I would be happy to recheck the matter.he said ok.Friday morning he met up with [redacted](owner)[redacted] states he was very busy with 3 other customers,[redacted] was very pushy/loud/angry attitude, wanted [redacted]"s undiveded attention.[redacted] asked [redacted] to relax ,he would be with him shortly,[redacted] said no,I want my car fixed wright now!As I (tom) was walking into work,I saw [redacted] and aked what happen. Review: Went to this place of business to get a transmission flush and told Employee at AAMCO that car needed a flush do to the fact that it needed correct fluid because service techs at Nissan told me this. Left car for the day went to pic it up later that day and I was Told by AAMCO that correct fluid was installed then one week later went back to Nissan dealership and they rechecked fluid and told me that AAMCO installed incorrect fluid and caused internal transmission problems once again so went back to AAMCO and they had nothing to say they did not even want to see the Nissan report or the sample of the the correct fluid comparison to the fluid they installed which caused internal Transmission problems and they asked us to pay another $246 to re install fluid but we denied so if transmission is not able to be fixed we would like replacementDesired Settlement: We would like for them to reinstall correct fluid this time but if internal damage was caused do to their mistake we would like replacement of transmission

Business

Response:

On 6/30/14 Mr.Avelar requested us to service the fluid on his vehicle(cvt type transmission)and stated that some other shop put the wrong fluid in his transmission(pink in color). We told him we cold drain/refill the fluid, but it will not take all of it out. That it may need to be done 2-3 times. Never the less, the 1st shop or if he replaced it himself, should be responsible for ,if any there is any problem to his transmission. We tried communicating this too the customer,he refused to listen, all he stated over, over again i"m going to sue you guys.Than he left. We have no problem selling him a 2nd service with a $50.00 discount. No gauranty he has or will have a problem with his transmission.

Review: I was visiting my mother in [redacted] with my two young sons. We were heading back to [redacted] on Tues. evening 7/22/14 because my youngest son had to start school on Monday 7/28/14. 80 miles into our trip, our 2003 Honda Odyssey broke down. I did not know at the time, but apparently the transmission line broke and trans fluid poured out all over. I had the van towed back to my mother's house. On 8am Wed. 7/23/14, I made several calls to transmission shops for quotes and time line. I would have preferred to ship it back to my mechanic in [redacted], but I was was short on time. I ended up settling on AAMCO of [redacted] only because [redacted] promised delivery by Friday 7/25/14. I made sure she understood that I had to be back home in [redacted] before Monday 7/28 because my son had to start school. She promised me up and down that "if they got the van this morning, they would have it by Friday". They took the van before a could my things out. Problems started almost immediately. All the sudden [redacted] told me they had to tack on another $400 because the van was a 5 speed and about how they were backed up because they had to let an installer go and they only had one trans mechanic and there were two trans ahead of me. On 7/24 7pm she called to tell me the trans was ok, but had to wait on parts and I couldn't get it back on Friday. Then she started to lie to saying they didn't promise delivery by Friday only that they would do the best they could. She said maybe Saturday 7/26, but I stopped by Sat. morning I asked to speak to the trans guy who advised that there was nothing mechanically wrong with it. Now [redacted] said they wouldn't get it back to me before Monday. I was livid because she knew I had someplace to be and promised delivery by Friday. A week had gone by before it was ready after 6pm on 7/29. A test drive the next morning 7/30 with [redacted] and the Mechanic proved it was worse than when I gave it to them. (continued on Desired Outcome)Desired Settlement: I didn't have time to wait because they already had it a week, my son had already missed 4 days of school and I had to get back. I demanded they compensate me for not fixing the van and lying about the time of delivery and they flat out refused. I confronted [redacted] about how she took the vehicle under false pretenses knowing well that she couldn't deliver on Friday, but all she could say was that I was picking on her because she was a woman and that I should tell it to the owner. I told her she is the one who promised delivery not him. The trans mechanic told me he had never heard such a screeching noise before when shifting between 3rd and 4th or why it was banging between 1st and 2nd. I had them print what was still wrong on the bill. When asked if the van was going to get me home their answer was that "you need to just drive it" because the trans had to "RE-LEARN ITSELF". We broke down less than 12 hours later before we got home. My mechanic then fixed it properly.

Customer complaint was that thevehicle wasn’t moving and there was a transmission fluid leak. Mr. [redacted] authorized Aamco Transmissions ofMatawan to have his 03 Honda Odyssey towed in. Our Technician checked Mr.[redacted]’s vehicle and found, trans fluid was burnt, scanned vehicle and thevehicle had two trans codes P0700 and p0740, on transmission line was leakingwhich caused the transmission to have no fluid and caused an internal problemwith the transmission. Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I was initially told of the broken line, but told they could not tell, without dropping the trans, if there was anything wrong with it, which they charge $2000 to do. She said they would have to charge $400 more because it's a 5 speed trans, when they are all 5 speeds. The promise was delivery by Friday if they got the van first thing, which they did. That all changed once they had it on the lift and I could not take it back. I got one excuse after another. Over several conversations, the more she told me the more I realized she knew they could never make the Friday delivery before they even took the van. They saw me coming a mile away. They knew I was from [redacted] and I had to get my son to school by 7/28/14. That point could not be stressed enough. She assured me I would have it back by Friday if they it got right away and there is no doubt they took it right away. When I picked up the van the owner was not there. I test drove it then gave [redacted] a ride and then the trans mechanic. They both heard and felt the banging from 1st to 2nd and some kind of screech between 3rd and 4th, which the mechanic said he "never heard" before and he works on Odyssey's all the time. It was not doing this before they worked on it. That's when [redacted] and the mechanic both agreed that I would just have to drive it because it had to "RE LEARN" itself, another falsehood. Honda transmissions do not "RE LEARN" anything. I had them print the unresolved issues on the bill. I demanded monetary compensation for being lied to about the delivery date and making my son miss his first 4 days of school as well as not fixing the van, but making it worse. They flat out refused. I went on to explain that my sister had [redacted] fix the trans on her 2004 Odyssey and it was running smooth as glass no banging or screeching. Her answer was that they aren't trans specialist and I replied " I know and it runs great no noise and you hardly feel it shift". At one point she said I was picking on her because she was a woman and that I should tell it to her boss. I reminded her that she is the one who made the promise to deliver by Friday not her boss. They knew well that I would not be returning to them once I left. I live in [redacted]. Needless to say, we broke down at least a hundred miles short of home. We have also had the credit card dispute reopened and I furnished them with the details of what happened besides the Aamco bill and the bill to replace the trans by my mechanic at [redacted]by [redacted]'s in [redacted]. Upon his inspection, he determined that the torque converter had failed and sent debris into the transmission. Aamco made only one attempt to call me and left no message only after the were notified about the credit card dispute. FYI... The van was towed to [redacted] in [redacted] and disassembled on the afternoon on 7/30/14. It took two days to get it back and it runs smooth as glass just like my sister's van.

Review: This business has had my vechicle for 9 days. It took them 3 working days to decide to preform a physical inspection. During those 3 days I showed up at the store to see what the road test had told them. I called at 11:45 and showed up at 1:45 (Approximate) and asked about my vehicle. I followed the employee out to the lot with the vehicles and did not see my truck. It then took approximately 15-20 minutes for him to confirm that it was still on a road test. I was given options and chose to get a rebuilt transmittion which was scheduled to arrive on 2 March. I was told a price and then went to pay it. After arriving to pay my bill, no one knew what was going on. They said they needed to contact the person and see what they said to me. It is now day 9 and they still have my vehicle. I briefed them that on Wed. March 4 I was heading back home to [redacted] with a trailer. I am on leave and will be getting out of the Marines on 11 April. Even though I told them the deadline in which I will have nowhere to reside, have to get a trailier, and vacate my storage unit (4 Mar) they still have not repaired my truck. During these 9 days I have only be contacted by them one time. The other times I have had to contact them even after they give me the, " we'll call you back in 5 min." They lack communication skills and I have only seen 2 people in the garage working everytime I'm there.Desired Settlement: For this business to provide better care for their customers and keep them informed about changes.

Review: I had my transmission rebuilt on May 15, 2013 at Aamco in Las Vegas and paid $1895.00 and there is a 12 month warranty on the work. I am now back in California where I live and the transmission is slipping. I took it to the local Aamco transmission located closest to my home in Thousand Oaks, California and asked them to look at the issue. They told me the transmission was fine and the differential was the issue and is would be $500-$2200.00 to repair the issue. I took the car to another local transmission shop and asked for a diagnosis and they said it was definately the transmission and the cost would be $700 to open it up and diagnose the issue, they would let us know once they opened and inspected the issue the cost not to exceed $2300.00. I contacted Aamco twice via their website on 7-17-13 and again on 7-22-13 and have not had any contact from anyone to discuss my issue and next steps to resolve my transmission problem. I need a reliable car and have paid almost $2000.00 for a repair with a 12 month warranty and it has only been a few monthis since the repair. I need to get this issue resolved.Desired Settlement: I would like the local Aamco repair shop the stand behind the warranty, they are a nationwide chain with national advertising and they are not standing behind their promise. I do not want to go back to the thousand Oaks location as I feel the service advisor is not honest. He spend 25 minutes trying to compel me to complete a repair that was not diagnosed by another local long term repair shop. I feel he was trying to hard-sell me by intimidating me.

Response:

In response to there complaint, our technician determined that the noise /clunking coming from underside of vehicle, was the rear differential, determined by the excessive amount of back lash found,at the drive shaft rotational point, & the correct & necessary repair would be to Preform a rear differential inspection to determine parts/ & or adjustments to resolve the back lash problem, which is what causing the vehicles symptoms. If the customer feels our determination is incorrect due to another repair facilitys service recomendation, then customer should have their vehicle inspected at another AAMCO facility. Additionally their warranty is with the original center in Las Vegas who originally preformed the Transmission repair.. Gene, owner AAMCO Thousand Oaks.....

I am rejecting this response because: We took the vehicle to the Aamco in Simi Valley and they diagnosed the transimission to be the issue. We asked them about the differential, they said no it was not that and if it was it would be loud. They re-built the transmission which was completely covered under the 12 month or 12,000 miles warranty and did not charge us anything. They were professional and courteous and their facility was very clean. We strongly feel the Aamco service center in Thousand Oaks did not want to do the warranty job so therefore said it was something wrong in order to make some money to do the warranty work. I felt he put the hard sell and fear tactics to make me feel my vehicle would break down any minute as a way to incite me to make a purchase decision on a repair that did not need to be done based upon another Aamco center and another reputable repair shop in Thousand Oaks diagnosis. This is poor business practices and should be noted against his license.

Review: I really thought I would not have to do this but 5 weeks is enough time to complete my repairs. On 09/24/14 I had taken my [redacted] to Aamco in Asbury Park for brake line repair, oil change and they recommended tire Rotation. Picked up my truck from them and was like always happy with repairs, very nice people to work with . Than on 11/25/14 I was in Atlantic county on the southbound side of N.J. Parkway when I al of a sudden heard a shaking sound from front end and in seconds later my right front tire came off at 65 miles an hour and I was thrown into the side ditch of the roadway. I just missed hitting a Dodge pick-up as well as the tire that came off almost hit same truck as well. I was pretty upset and called the police and they had sent a tow truck as well as sent me to [redacted] auto center to make repairs on truck and tire, enclosed documents. I had taken a taxi from service center to hotel and back after repairs were made. I was told that lug nuts were loose and that's what caused accident as well as they tightened balance of lug nuts and told me one was missing from left rear tire as well as tightened balance and said truck was safe to ride home take it slow. On day after Thanksgiven I went to Aamco the last people to touch my truck and spoke to [redacted] who said bring in the truck and he would call me later and take care of same.He called me later after I left truck and repaired missing lug and sent me to [redacted] auto body to make repairs on damaged fender,They did a good job.I to date have not heard anything else as well as the truck sits in my driveway as I wait for balance of repairs to be finished. I have been very nice about this whole thing,I could have lost my life or killed someone else that night on the parkway and the thanks I get for not going to the state with this is maybe I will go away.I have heard nothing else, please helpDesired Settlement: I wish for cash settlement in the amount of 351.19 to recover from some of my costs and tow truck costs and repairs as well as $ 800.00 for new rims or my rim replaced in which I have been promised by them but still my truck sits in non-use condition. The aluminum rims on my truck were very costly and when the truck tire fell off it shimmed three lugs and ruined the aluminum rim. I am sorry we are at this stage because I am not one to go this way but I feel that I am with-in my rights

Response:

The tire rotation mentioned by the customer was done 2months prior to the customer experiencing the issue he mentions with hiswheel. While though it is obvious thatmany things could have intervened within those 2 months, as a courtesy to thiscustomer, I agreed to have the fender repaired at no charge to the customer. This repair cost my business over $1000, butI felt it a show of goodwill to a customer that had always been satisfied withour services in the past, and appeared distraught and nervous. Again, not wanting to speculate on what mighthave taken place with the vehicle during the 2 month span that we did not havethe vehicle in our possession, we figured bearing the largest expense (i.e.bodywork), would be more than enough to demonstrate our goodwill and gratitudefor this repeat and somewhat long term customer. Now, unfortunately, it seems that thecustomer is not satisfied with the goodwill we already put forth, and isdemanding additional free services for a vehicle that had not been in ourpossession for over 2 months’ time. Questions that we never wanted to ask, but perhaps now do need to beasked of the customer are: (1) who else had worked on the vehicle in the 2 month span that we did not have the vehiclein our possession?, (2) did the customer, or someone else, perhaps change the tire in question during that time?, (3) having custom rims on the vehicle, did someone attempt to steal the rims while the vehicle was parked somewhere butfor whatever reason was unable to complete the theft activity?Furthermore, since these are non-standardcustom rims that were not designed for this vehicle or approved for this vehicleby the manufacturer, there is no way to gauge the integrity of the wheel, norany documented torque specs for non-standard wheels. When an owner of a vehicle chooses to useparts or equipment that were not provided or approved by the vehicle manufacturer, the owner is operating the vehicle at his/her own risk. At this point, having already cost ourbusiness over $1000 to repair the vehicle (no questions asked), it would beunlikely that we would be willing to perform additional free services with somany unanswered questions and no way for us to verify the customer’s answers tothose questions, if asked. Additionally, the use of non-standard equipment further complicates the problem brought aboutby the owner himself when choosing to buy/drive a vehicle with parts or accessoriesthat were not specifically designed for the vehicle. The Revdex.com should recognizethat we have already compensated the customer for events that were not a directresult of our workmanship, but instead were acts of goodwill for a long termcustomer that had come to us in distress.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: Ist off , Aamco agreed to do all the repairs needed to put me back whole again before the accident. That was what we had agreed to between [redacted]. owner of this Aamco and myself , I said just make me whole again like before the accident in which he agreed. Secondly, I visited the body shop per instructions of same to tell me he found the rim and he will install it as soon as he receives it in just a few short days,, That was about ten days ago in front of my friend [redacted] witness of what was said.I never heard back from them. When Aamco agreed to make the repairs it was agreed that they make me whole again the way I was before the tire problem,he knew what my costs were when this happened because I submitted to him copy of all bills to get the truck back home. I would not have agreed to a half repaired truck ,well we will fix half and then not talk to you, come on guys ,it does not work that way and I once again I was trying to be nice guy about this when in fact they were the last people to make repairs on this truck ,in fact they have been the only ones to make any repairs on this truck. The lugs on this truck were not re-installed properly and that's why we are here today. The back tire rear wheel was as well comming off because all the tires were not properly torged to truck and that will be recalled if this complaint is not resolved in a court of law,I cant believe that we are here and not completed they leave me no choice but to rent a truck so I can stay in business until this matter comes to a resolvement. I Thank the B.B.B. for their involvement and any further help they may offer to close this matter

Review: Had a Transmission rebuilt in September of 2011 at a cost of $4337.79. At time of completion we were given a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty that I could take to any Aamco if we had any problems. Sales person [redacted] also added 12 month 12,000 mile warranty for the second year, with the stipulation I had to take it back to the San Luis Obispo Aamco if I had any problems. We had the check engine light come on which showed to be transmission issue. On 8/26/13 I had my son drive it to the San Luis Obispo Aamco from Simi Valley for warranty work. They told him it just needed a tune up, also did oil change costing 299.83. They should have dropped the transmission pan as this was the code reading for the check engine light. The engine light came on again so we took it to another Aamco in Simi Valley and for $95 They diagnosed it and dropped transmission pan which is full of metal. Needless to say the transmission must once again be rebuilt. When the truck was taken in under miles and under the two years this should have been diagnosed, not do a tune up.We trusted in what they said. There the professionals. Miles on Sept.24,2011 were 156689 at original rebuild. Miles on Aug.26,2013 were 176600. The difference of 19911 miles. Within our 24000 miles and 24 month warranty. Aamco in semi valley called San Luis Obispo Aamco near Aug. 26,2013 to confirm it was still within it's warranty. They said yes it is about up send him in.Desired Settlement: I am looking for a refund of 4337.79. Willing to discuss further.

Review: I had my car towed to there business because of transmission problems. The owner [redacted] proceeded to ask if he could pull the transmission out to see what the problem was. I asked if it would cost money to do that and he stated no but went on to explain the costs of what the repair would be if it was a certain part. I have him authorization over the phone to pull it out. I never signed any papers stating there would be a cost even if I decided to not have the car fixed by them. When I went to pick it up to have it towed home he told me I owed him 500 for pulling the transmission out and will not get my car back unless I paid. He never gave me anything for me to sign saying it would cost this much or even explain I would still have to pay anything after I decided to not go with them. But he is holding my car until he gets my money and has called me liar and was confrontational with me.Desired Settlement: To not require us to pay for something I never knew I had to pay for and release my car to me.

Review: I brought my manual transmission Honda Accord 2006 for a clutch replacement. A couple of days after I received my car back I decided to look under the hood as I didn't like the noises comming from the engine compartment.

Half of the bolts and nuts they touched were lost, all the brackets are either loose or thrown away, wiring harness misplaced, vacuum lines were cut (or broken) and left completely detached in the engine compartment. The broken line was scratching the front wheel during right turns. Air intake cover was missing and splash guard was ripped off of the car so the broken pieces of plastic are still hanging from the frame. They didn’t bother to install the splash guard back. They just lost it. I have never seen such a careless and irresponsible work. I came to this place twice for resolution. First time technician told me that bolts and brackets that Honda installs are not necessary, he knows better that Honda engineers. Second time, instead of apology and investigation with his staff Vince used all his “experience” trying to tell me that splash guard fell off by itself and I am the one who have broken vacuum line.Desired Settlement: AAMCO has to reimbirse me for the damage they have done to my car

Response:

The customer correctly states they returned to our center approximately three days after picking up thier car . Clearly the customer had examined the vehicle prior to coming and was correct in thier observation that there was a missing bolt and plastic cover. Both of these issues were addressed during this return visit. At no time during this visit did the customer express a concern about the additional that were subsequently raised more than a week later. I understand the customer's frustration however the subsequent issues raised in some cases are gross exxagerations (if half the nuts and bolts were lost all the brackets were thrown away the vehicle would have been inoperable. The concern for the broken line was never expressed in the first visit and even though it was not a line that was touched during the repair our shop would have reattached it at no cost to the customer. This vehicle has over 200,000 miles and is used to tow; on a vehicle such as this things do not remain static. Things that are operational or secure can indeed break down in ten days time. And as a reminder this wire in particular was not touched during the repair nor was the noise mentioned during the first visit. Additionally missing, cut or damaged vaccum lines would have at best cause the vehicle to run poorly or create a check engine light. Again neither of these issues were raised when the customer first came back. If you misplace a wiring harness the car wont run; this is the core electrical circut line for the vehicle. During the customer's first visit we addressed his concerns. During his second visit the customer did not seek resolution; I offered to take the car into the shop and investigate these NEW concerns and to fix anything we were responsible for at no charge but he refused to let us touch or see the car any longer. He was angry, did not hear or accept two apologies and called me a liar. He began to curse he used phrases such as "you raped my car" and " you hate cars, you must hate cars". At this point I asked him to leave the shop. Had any of these concerns been raised initially we would have fixed the work at that time. I will not be held responsible for issues arising on a car that left my shop ten days earlier that has over 200,000 miles and is a car that is used to tow

I am rejecting this response because:

Business response represents what exactly is wrong with this business.

No remorse for damaging my personal property, no internal investigation, no disciplinary action against technician who improperly handled the job.

Business owner shows the same attitude that made me to file a complaint to Revdex.com. He is trying to justify damage done to the car during repairs by number of miles driven or even usage of the factory approved towing devise, Incompetence and lies again. As I mentioned in my complaint when I tried to communicate the issue to the business I was told that Honda has bolts, brackets and vacuum lines that are not necessary. According to this business if the car is still moving - the damage done during repair is fine. This is the highest incompetence level for so called "professional" mechanic.

My car was inspected by independent mechanic resulting $280 worth of lost and damaged parts that require 3 hours of labor to install.

I insist on Revdex.com processing this case. People should know who they cannot trust. They definitely have to stay away from AAMCO in Morristown NJ.

Review: On 5/10/12 I purchased a rebuilt transmission and torque converter with a 36 month/50,000 mile limited warranty and a drive shaft for my 1998 Chevy Pick Up truck and paid $2,942.50 in full. The transmission and torque converter were fixed but the company had ordered the wrong drive shaft. I returned to the company on three different occasions to find that each time there was a new manager and none of them had a key to the shed where the parts were supposed to be. On the fourth time when I returned I was informed that the company was no longer an [redacted] and the manager could not help me. In the mean time I have been without 4 wheel drive for 1 year and 9 months due to their negligence. I would like to know what course of action to take since the parts are paid for and I don't know if they have the parts or not and I do not have the money to buy them somewhere else. Please advise me of what I should do about this unfortunate situation because I really did not want to get my attorney involved and drag it out any longer.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the job done that I paid for in full or I want he money for the parts and labor refunded.

Review: So far, AAMCO has been an inconvenience for me. They've had my car for a month.ive Bothered family and friends transportation.Every time I called in to see how far they've gotten with my car, a new story was given to me. Most of the time they would blame it on their employees calling out because of doctor appointments, for two days they would say that they received the wrong parts from distributor and lastly, I was told an intake boot was broken and they spent time trying to search for a used one but weren't able to find one so they had to wait for the Dealership to ship a new one in. After hearing this I decided it was time to call corporate and spoke to a representative who later asked them if they could result in giving me a rental. After that day, they've been trying to avoid me. They tried talking me into allowing them to take me to work, refusing giving me a rental after a month. I declined. The next day I decided to go check on the car since they kept giving me the run around about the rental. They explained that I couldn't take my car that day because of a sensor and I also noticed my steering wheel was completely turned and the car was driving straight. So I came up with an agreement stating that I was giving them 5 days to get my car fixed and also Providing a rental until it's fixed paid on their behalf. They agreed. But there was another problem, the rental company were charging me an extra $20 dollars a day for the rental and AAMCO was trying to figure out an alternativ.I gave them by noon that following day to figure something out.Surprisingly by noon the next day, my car was fixed and ready to go, after I paid 485.27.I haven't drove my car in a month and it took time for me to notice the difference 1-2 hours later I noticed a light blinking which relates to the transmission and I noticed my interior lights weren't coming on.I called them numerous of times that day and they wouldn't pick up until I called from a different phone number. It's not the first time they've ignored my callDesired Settlement: I would like to get compensated the 485.27 for the month of trouble they caused and I would like it fixed which means having my car in the condition it was before I brought it to them in addition to my transmission rebuilt. I would like a rental until the car is completely fixed at no additional cost from me at this point on.

Review: I brought my car to AAMCO transmission shop in Oxnard ca on 04/24/2014, and spoke to [redacted], I told him I was having issues and he suggested a full rebuild of my transmission on a 2008 Ford Focus. I said I had a warranty and he called and dealt with the warranty company, I called mike back on Monday when he was able to get a warranty advisor out to his shop to take a look at the advisor. The warranty advisor went out to the shop on 04/28/2014 and approved the repair on 04/29/2014. Mike assured me that my car would be done at the latest 05/01/2014. When I called and spoke to [redacted] on the evening of 05/01/2014 the car was not done. They were able to get the car completed by 04:00PM friday 05/02/2014. However I had scheduled my self to be able to come and pick up the car in the morning and return the rental car so I dont encure any more charges from Enterprise. With the car not being done, and myself not having the ability to pick my car up during normal business hours of both enterprise and the shop I had to extend my rental car by 3 days and was charged an additional $150. I talked to the owner Pat Riggs and he was not willing to compensate me for the rental car overage as it was his associated that guarenteed that the car would be done by Thursday 05/1/2014.Desired Settlement: I would like at least half of the repair covered by the company for the way they have treated me since the beginging and the countless hours of work I had to waste on calling them to see when my car would be done. The loss of hours was easly 8-10 hours of my work time which at the rate of $20.16 an hour is 160-201.60 as well as the extension of the rental should be rembursed as well which is $150.00 for the extra days. The total that should be covered by this shop should total $351.60.
