[redacted] is a liar and extremely rude..Desired Settlement: I want my money back for a repair that wasnt right and broke down 20 min after fixed.

This consumer already received a refund of $279 towards his repairs, we do not owe him anything. Instead he owes us $152 for work that was performed on his vehicle that was never paid.

Review: I was quoted $2971 for a rebuild of my transmission which would take 3 days on a 99 Acura Tl. My car was at the location for three weeks with multiple excuses on what was going on with my car. The [redacted] was very disrespectful and verbally abusive. I found out that my car was there for 2 and a half weeks untouched but I was lied to and told there were electrical issues. On 10/**/2014,I was told that my car would be done on 10/**/2014. I called the station all day with no answer and had someone go by there and no one was to be found. The Following Monday the [redacted] refused to let me come get my car because the technician that was working on my car was not in. I spoke with Aamco corporate office about these issues and explained that I had been renting a car for almost 3 weeks when my car was suppose to be fixed in 3days. To compromise because I was disappointed with the service, I only requested my rental charges for 10/**/2014-10/**/2014 to be deducted from my bill. The corporate office felt it was a reasonable request but the [redacted] of the [redacted]ocation said to me "Are you an it. I did you a favor just by fixing your car." After a day of back and forth between corporate and the [redacted], I picked up my car on10/**/2014. The [redacted] then tells me that if he reduced my bill with the price of my rental car charges, I would not receive a receipt nor will he give me the 1yr warranty that comes with the rebuild. I also had a $100 coupon from online and he told me that he would not honor it. While I had my cousin there to witness this matter, the [redacted] kept my money(2500 which was the total minus rental and coupon) and I had to leave with nothing. I informed the corporate office president who stated that he would make sure that I received my warranty and would call me back. I have called him 3 times since that date and he always promises to speak with the [redacted] and that he would return my call but has yet to do so. He claimed the [redacted] is avoiding him. Through all of this my transmission was not fixed properly and now I have other issues that I did not have prior to taking it there. My check engine light is back on. I had another diagnostic to discover transmission issues. I contacted the location where my car was fixed and I was told that I do not have a warranty. No customer should be treated like this.Desired Settlement: I am requesting my one year warranty which was promised with the rebuild. Also I would like my car to be fixed properly(at a different aamco) or a refund to have my car fixed properly at a different service station

Sincerely,

Review: My car (2003 Jaguar S type) was sent to this business 6 weeks ago Dec 16,2013. I originally starting dealing with the company in April 2013. I had a rebuilt or another transmission installed in April that included a warranty (3 years or 50k miles)for any future issues. At the end October I noticed my "transmission fault" light coming on and had an issue with my car being stuck in park. I contacted Aamco and was instructed to bring it in to be evaluated. My car sat at the business for a week before they allegedly figured out the problem. Starting with a sensor that a has over the weeks resulted in now another transmission being put into the vehicle as a result of being sent to the dealership (Paretti Jaguar) and that's what they instructed Aamco to do. Stating the transmission wasn't repairable. I have gotten a big run around from Aamco and no offers made for rental car. They have stated repeatedly that several issues have been "out of their control". Also Aamco has alleged to have changed or attempted to fix several issues and have gotten nowhere. The current issue is a transmission that has been on a truck to be in route to Aamco for a week now. I call almost everyday and get told basically the same story over and over. Meanwhile I still have no vehicle. The only person I have spoken with is a guy by the name of [redacted] I believe is either the owner or manager.Desired Settlement: I would like my car back in complete working condition promptly. I would also like to be compensated for the ridiculous amount of time Aamco has had my vehicle and could've gotten me a rental car for courtesy. I have missed work and several other issues or have other headaches involving the absence of my car. Had the issue been resolved in a more timely manner or a rental car offered this letter may have never been sent.

Review: Transmission was partially rebuilt by Aamco. I refused to accept the car because of a noticeable vibration which did not exist prior to the work they had done. They kept the car for another week with no improvement. [redacted] told me there were engine issues that needed to be resolved, causing the vibration. I spent another $1200 on engine work at a reputable repair shop with no improvement. I took it back to Aamco again, with no improvement as the car sat there for a week with a broken shifter cable which the engine repair shop told me was caused by Aamco. Upon picking the car up at Aamco [redacted] asked if I wanted him to price out a shifter cable which I would have to pay for. I had the engine repair shop replace the shifter cable and asked him to check into the vibration of which I complained to Aamco. They pinpointed the vibration to the transmission. I took the car back to Aamco. They put the car on the lift totally unbolted the transmission from the engine and had me start the car myself. There was no vibration. [redacted] still tried to convince me it was not the transmission causing the vibration. I took the car to another transmission repair shop. He told me there were bolts missing and an incorrect trans mount installed. And the vibration was coming from the transmission. I took it back to Aamco. He said there was no more he could do for me. He said that his mechanics said they repaired and reinstalled the trans to factory specs and that I had another shop remove and reinstall the transmission incorrectly.Desired Settlement: Refund. I would really like to have another transmission shop to perform the required repairs and have Aamco pay for it.

Review: 11/23/15 Quote of $250 ([redacted], owner). Rec'd call 12/1 car done and the price had increased to $548.17 (when I asked why the increase, I was told the valve body need to be repaired). Was also told there's a leak in the pan and it would be fixed and test driven. Tow truck delivered car back to New Orleans 12/1/15. By 12/5/15 the car was jerking and stalling and not moving forward properly - almost causing rear-end accident.Called 12/11/15 @ 6am (PSDT) to inform this location that the transmission they repaired and charged me $548.17 on 12/1/15 to repair is leaking. Prior to the car being returned to us, we were told the transmission had been repaired but their was a leak. It would be test driven and leak but would be sealed. Obviously it wasn't done - the transmission is leaking!!!12/11/15 @ 6:15am (PSDT), I called back to find out if they had a warranty. Was told "30 days on parts and labor". I hung up. I then spent the next eight hours trying to work out how to get the car to this location from New Orleans.@2:30pm (PSDT), called back and asked to speak with [redacted] (the owner), I was rudely told he was out of the office for the next 1month, 2months, 3months, 4months, 5months -angrily. When I said I need to discuss the car that was repaired last week and has been leaking. Was then BLASTED, YELLED at the accused of blocking my number cause I am hiding or trying to hide something. First of all, instead of worrying about why my phone is blocked they needed to worry about the fact that I paid for repair that was not completed. They needed to be more concern with the fact that they are doing sub-par work and hiding and using strong arming when asked to deal with a repair that was not completed when services was paid. His staff continues to say he is out of the office, is rude, yells when being told a problem exist with the repair.Don't trust this location to make repairs. They knew the car was leaking when it left their shop but returned it anyways. Wanted car to come back to charge more!Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

Refund of $471 ($300 charged for services not rendered - no valve body work on the vehicle but charged for valve body work). ($171 paid to another trans specialist to evaluate the transmission leak replace gasket, fluid, and properly seal the leaky transmission pan).Shut them down...look at the numerous complaints against them on their own website.. www.aamco.com!

Review: I brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee into AAMCO for a total transmission rebuild. Ever since I picked my vehicle up after the rebuild have had nothing but problems with the transmission. The transmission has been leaking non-stop and when I brought it back they told me it was a faulty gasket, then it was knocking so I brought it back again and they told me that they made a mistake and didn't put enough transmission fluid in it. Then the engine started smoking so I brought it back to them for the THIRD time and they said they made a mistake and put too much transmission fluid in and it was burning, causing the smoking. I just recently brought it back for the same knocking reason and check engine light was on. They tried to tell me that it was because I was 3 quarts low on engine oil which is impossible because it only holds 5qts and I would have noticed all that oil leaking out of my truck. I picked the truck up last night and the engine started smoking again and when I pulled into my driveway I noticed there was a large puddle of transmission fluid underneath the truck.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the payment of the transmission and labor that I was charged in the amount of $4,269.33 I am under warranty through Aamco and unfortunately it states that I have to bring the truck back to the same shop where the repair took place but that is unacceptable. I will NOT return my vehicle to the same shop as they are incompetent in their mechanical abilities.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Aamco Transmissions regarding complaint ID [redacted].After I wrote my original complaint I had to bring my truck BACK to the shop once again due to another faulty part in my "new" transmission. I was not offered any type of compensation by the manager [redacted], and he even told me that it was not his problem if I broke down at 3AM in the middle of nowhere due to a transmission problem. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE as I regularly have my six month old niece in my truck with me. Please see to it that I will no longer be responsible for payments for the transmission job that was never done correctly in the first place. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. Sincerely,[redacted]

[redacted] at AAMCO rebuilt a cruise-o-magic transmission in my classic 1965 Mustang offering a warranty of 12000 miles. Hardly ever use the vehicle putting just 2500 miles on it over the past 4 years. Last year when I called him to tell him the transmission was not shifting properly when cold he said I may just need to let it warm up. This month I had other issues and called him and he stated that if I had engine work that the warranty might be void if the engine wasn't lined up properly to the transmission.. I and had it diagnosed by a master [redacted] that rebuilt the engine two years ago. He diagnosed it as the governor was hanging up and sometimes car starts in 3rd gear and certainly a transmission issue. This [redacted] also felt that [redacted]s comment about letting it warm up or about aligning the engine up properly to the transmission was just a way for him to try to void the warranty. This [redacted] also noted that when he did the engine job that there were two bolts missing securing the transmission to the engine when he did the engine job following that transmission rebuild

When I called [redacted] back today and explained the situation [redacted] stated that the warranty was void as it was a couple of years ago and that it was for 12 month not 12000 miles. Prior to this he indicated it was 12000 miles. He was also rude an unprofessional and after looking at similar complaints with the Revdex.com I would suggest going anywhere else but there

Review: I contracted with Aamco to make the necessary repairs to shut off ABS/Stability lights, Failsafe Engine light as well as Failsafe transmission lights that were onDesired Settlement: I gave the shop owner the opportunity to complete the repair. We even had an agreement in place but he reneged.

Fool me once…When visiting our on October 7, 2015, Mr. [redacted] intentionally failed to mention that he had been to our shop once before. Had we known to look him up as a prior customer, I would have recalled the complaints he filed with work performed here on 7/3/2012 on a simple cigarette lighter on his Jaguar. I found his complaints then to be ridiculous and suspicious, but I paid then to keep the customer happy… it was thoughtful of him to wait a few years before haunting us again. When we get to court, I will ask and reasonable men will judge, “Why would anyone return when their first service experience was so awful as to warrant complaints and similar reputation blackmail tactics?” The answer is simple. It worked then, why not try it again? For repairs performed on 10/7/2014 Mr. [redacted] received the right application of parts and labor to cure a specific problem with a brake switch that was triggering alert lights and interfering with normal transmission performance. When asked, he told the service manager [redacted] that he had been living with his ABS light “on” for a very long time and was not prepared to engage that problem due to the high cost of ABS controllers. AT NO TIME DID WE STATE, SUGGEST OR MOST IMPORTANTLY DOCUMENT that we would correct ALL alert lights on his vehicle for the $421.88 he paid. [redacted] correctly documented that thecustomer declined other recommended services – which is why GE Car Care One would not reverse the charge, which is why AAMCO VP of Customer Relations [redacted] instructed me to NOT perform additional FREE or discounted repairs, which is why the [redacted] will not take action against my business...Mr. [redacted] began a campaign of harassment and extortion immediately after picking up his vehicle, falsely accusing [redacted] of promising expensive repairs FOR FREE. Now that [redacted] is unavailable to defend his actions as he battles Leukemia in a local hospital, Mr. [redacted] is even more emboldened to make false statements trying to extort free repairs. Not having been present at the time of discussions between [redacted] and Mr. [redacted], I insisted on speaking with Mr. [redacted] in-person. During that discussion it was obvious to me that he was not being truthful with me and I felt the urgent need to shower after our chat. Mr [redacted]’s campaign to extort and intimidate has included phone calls to my employee’s personal cell phone to fact-find and threaten. Having been here tending to customers for 15 years, I also own a copy of “Pathetic Tactics to Blackmail Reputable Automotive Repair Shops”, available on Amazon NEW $1.79, USED $0.39, I am passionately prepared for each and every additional step of your blackmail campaign Mr [redacted].I am sorry I didn’t recognize him from his prior stunts at my shop, and if he comes here again I will have him arrested for trespassing. I will meet him in court, on the internet or anywhere else he’d like to try and force me to give him any services of any kind – EVER. [redacted], Owner-Operator

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Allow me to address Mr [redacted] slanderous, insulting and farcical response to my complaint of inadequate and incomplete repairs to my car dated 10/07/2014. 1. I went to his shop simply because a new mechanic to this shop ([redacted]) had worked on my car within that prior year on a transmission that I had replaced. I called [redacted]'s previous employer who told me that he was no longer there. I had his number and called him and he gave me the address of his new employer which turned out to be this Aamco. His very personable manager [redacted] seemed familiar to me but I didn't give it much thought. I included a picture of the damage cause by his shop on that occasion (cracked wood) 2 1/2 years earlier. A local Jaguar dealer told me that the part would cost $900. 2. I went there with the specific purpose of having the work done as stated on the work order under DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM. Nothing less. As you can see there is nothing entered under ADDITIONAL REPAIRS DECLINED. 3. I only realized there was a problem with the repair on my drive home from the shop on 10/7/2014 when the ABS light came back on. I immediately pulled over, still on 51st Ave and called [redacted] and was informed FOR THE FIRST TIME, that the ABS was not repaired. 4. I disputed the charge the next day. GE did not decide anything other then it was not their job, as a bank, to determine who was right or wrong. 5.The harassment and extortion is particularly offensive since I was never hostile or belligerent. I never argued or raised my voice to [redacted] who I felt was simply mistaken, not criminal, and only recall speaking with him perhaps one more time before he left with some illness in November. In fact, it is Mr. [redacted] who had me come to the shop before Thanksgiving wherein we agreed that I would pay between approximately $60-$100 for a used ABS module and Aamco would install it at no additional cost. Although I had already paid him for this repair and believed that it would be with a new part, I accepted his offer because I wanted the ordeal to be over. We shook on it. I waited for him to acquire the module and call me. With the holidays I did not press the issue. I believe that it was just after Christmas when I called and spoke with Mr [redacted] and he told me then that "legal" would not allow him to put in a used ABS module. I doubted the truth of the statement but I asked that if I acquired the module if he would install it. He said yes. I asked for the agreement in writing this time since the last agreement wasn't honored and I didn't want to buy a module and not have someone set to install it..and strongly sensed that I was getting put off. He said that he would send me something in writing but did not and the last time we spoke when he said, that he would "try" to send me something in writing and getting tired of his games, I insisted on knowing if he would or would not send in writing that he would install the module that I purchased. Finally.. he said that he would not and would not complete anything..ever. I hope that Mr [redacted]'s use of names and accusation of a "campaign of harassment and extortion" gives you a measure of this man's character. Using [redacted]'s illness to demean me is pathetic in itself. The scope of work is the DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM and is clear, as well as clearly not done.Regards,[redacted]

My check engine light was on and I took my car to the aamco on [redacted] and [redacted] ave. They were excellent in their knowledge and customer service! I will definitely go back and recommend them to everyone. Thank you for your great service!

Review: In September I brought the car to Aamco Transmission because they assured me that they could fix the car, even after I told them what other places had said about the 2007 [redacted] and not being able to fix it. They assured me that they could fix it and at the price that I was quoted from anoter person, $4000. the fixes that they did were: rebuilt the transmission, replaced the valve body (which according to the dealership they should not have done because it is suppose to be done at a dealership, but they went off of the page and got one froma friend in NOVA. When I found out I told them that we woudl pay them for the transmission piece, but to let Brown's do the valve body, they assured again that they could fix it. After a month I get my car back, to find, after driving it for a little while (hour maybe) that they smoke is rolling out of the car, the hazard lights are on and wont go off, it locked me out of the car. Once I was able to get in I dropped it off that Friday night (same day I picked the car up, Oct 4, 2013). I went to the shop and talked to them the next morning, they had it on the lift, it was a hose that come lose, but I also explained that the protectant shield underneath was shredded and that my Fiance told me that they had caught it on something, but explained to her that it just needed to be popped back on. They fixed the hose (didn't clean off the engine underneath from the transmission fluid spraying everywhere) and sent me on my way. They told me to give it 10 days and everything should fix itself. I didn't trust that so I called [redacted] at [redacted] in Charlottesville, and he said that they had told them company (Aamco) that the car was not right and hazard lights should not stay on that they had something wrong. The company (Aamco) ignored this and let me continue to drive the car. The next week Oct. 7-11 2013) I am still having issues with the car, but driving just to say I did what they wanted. The battery died on Thursday, stranded I got a jump and thought that it would charge itself. I picked my 8 mth pregnant fiance up for a doctor's appt (she has been having complications) we went to the doctor and then stranded again in the lot. The company didn't seem to care, we dropped the car of again and I told them to have it fixed right. this is an inconvienence, I have missed 1 whole day of work and another half day because of this. They are fighting me on the balance of $400 even after I have paide them $4300 (and the agreement was $4700). But even after the agreement of $4700 they tried to charge me $5500 and we had to dicuss the issues at hand that happend for the month that they had the vehicle. The owner Jack said on Oct. 11, 2013, that he will take it back to [redacted], to get is fixed, but we still owed him $400 and I told him that after all the inconvienence and trouble and the fact that you shredded my shield underneath I don't think I owe you that money. He said he would take of the $288 for the shield, so we owed him $181. I told him I wanted it fixed, the lights done correctly, new battery, and the shifter still needs to be fixed where they have not correctly linked it up in the transmission when they "rebuilt" it. He didn't comment he said he would take it to browns and call me. What has this caused: My expensive car is messed up and the engine is now drenched with tranmission fluid, my engine shield is messed up, my batteries are dead (there are 2 in this car), I have been inconvienenced for a month, missed a day and 1/2 of work, stress my fiance out who is already having complications, I have been lied to about the car, they wont admit they can't fix it and are trying to pass blame elsewhere. I am getting a paper from [redacted] that states everything that is wrong with the car and what they have told the company and myself.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my car fixed completely at the dealership at the company's (Aamco) expense and a full cash refund that will cover all the inconvienences and stress that this has caused.

Response:

The hazard flashers on [redacted] stay on and run the battery down. I have taken the car to [redacted] to be diagnosed today 10/ 11. I explained to [redacted] earlier today that if the [redacted] dealer says aamco caused the problem then I will accept responsibility. If on the other hand if the dealer says it was not caused by aamco then [redacted] will be responsible. The balance owed on October 11 was the date [redacted] set to pay based on his pay period. I will certainly address any other transmission related issues once the hazard lights are fixed. Aamco did damage the shield and I have agreed to subtract the 265.00 (the cost of shield) from the balance owed as [redacted] asked me to.. As with any customer it is our ultimate goal that [redacted] be satisfied. Thank You [redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]3, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Main issues:

The hazard lights is an issue,

2 dead batteries that will not hold charge at all now

The shifter is messed up and does not function properly (this car has a manual shift option and an automatic option. You can hear the it shift in and out of drive, etc. and it jumpes down when in automatic which it has never done before).

The shield is a cost to me for $288 that he said he would deduct not $265 because he is not putting it on I am having to buy that and replace it.

The wires for crossed over and I want them corrected.

Regards,

Business

Response:

Just an update [redacted] checked [redacted] and found the hazard light switch is bad. This is not related to transmission rebuild, installation , the valve body and computer purchased from [redacted] [dealer in Fredericksburg] , or the programming done by [redacted] in Charlottesville.

Review: On 10/16/13 we had our 1995 Buick Park Avenue towed to AAMCO Transmissions located at 316 Orange Ave, Roanoke, VA 24016. The reason was due to we had a severe oil leak that was causing oil to be all over the passenger side of the motor. We were told the repair needed was a rear main seal, a harmonic balancer, 1 Serpentine belt, oil filter and oil total including parts and labor was $744.86. After repairs was made we picked up the vehicle on 10/24/13 repairs was completed we paid in full for the repairs and brought the vehicle home. On 10/26/13 [redacted] noticed a very sizable puddle of oil underneath the car again. He contacted AAMCO Transmission shop on Monday 10/28/13 explained that the oil leak was apparently not fixed because there was also oil still on the passenger side of the motor and on the ground. [redacted] was instructed by [redacted] to bring the vehicle up there and they would take care of it. Over a period of 48 hours of them having the vehicle [redacted] was contacted on 10/30/13 [redacted] relayed from the technician that their diagnosis was a minor oil leak as long as [redacted] continued to top off the oil in the vehicle the vehicle should be okay. The technician also instructed [redacted] to inform [redacted] that the only true resolution was to replace the motor. On 11/2/13 approximately 4:00 p.m. in preparation to go to dinner plans [redacted] went to check the fluids including the oil in the Buick Park Avenue and discovered a very large dark area underneath the Buick and also discovered there was no oil reading on the dipstick what so ever. So it appears to [redacted] that the amount of $744.86 that was paid for the original repair did not in fact solve the oil leak.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome is a full refund of $744.86 or for the repairs to be made under the original agreement and payment of the $744.86 in a timely manner due to the time that the said vehicle has already been at their shop totaling 8 business days already for this repair.

Response:

In response to customer's concerns and complaint, the Buick Park Avenue did have a large oil leak initially when it first came in. The vehicle left a 2" trail of oil in parking lot to bay area. It was obvious that the rear main oil seal had blown and needed to be replaced along with harmonic balancer, serpentine belt, oil & filter. That repair was accomplished and when customer's wife picked up car, she was advised the major leak was repaired but due to being run so low on oil, a possibility existed that damage could have done to engine. The customer did bring vehicle back for another oil leak. The harmonic balancer and seal were replaced twice but motor still had a small leak which can only be repaired by replacing engine due to damage in initial damage to engine. Our technician advised the second leak could not be repaired due to previous engine damage and if customer kept oil level proper the engine may last for an indeterminate amount of time. Also to point out, due to possible damage to engine by first leak, there was no warranty given or implied. The customer is referring to one leak when in reality there was two leaks, the second being caused by initial damage prior to the vehicle arriving here. Since the initial leak was so massive, it was impossible to determine if anything else was wrong except for possibility engine was damaged by initial leak. Since customer was advised of circumstances in this repair and the possible consequences, we feel we fulfilled our responsibilities.[redacted] Customer Service Mgr.AAMCO Transmission

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Another situation that was left out of original statement was that when [redacted]'s wife picked the car up the first time after repairs were supposedly made she was told that the oil pressure gauge was not working properly but that it would be ok. When [redacted] dropped off the Buick for the second visit he talked to [redacted] regarding the oil pressure gauge and asked about why it was not working properly, He was told by [redacted] that it would be looked into. When [redacted] picked up the car he was told the gauge was either a faulty gauge or they just wasn't sure. So Prior to reviewing the response from AAMCO. [redacted] took the Buick Park Avenue to [redacted] located at [redacted] Roanoke Va. The technician does agree that there may be some internal damage to the motor, however in his opinion he does not believe without going more into depth of the motor that the present oil leak is due to any internal damage. He informed me that there is no minor oil leak that I have a GUSHING MAJOR OIL LEAK In [redacted]'s opinion is the SAME amount oil leaking that was leaking originally that he sought the service from AAMCO to begin with. And that the oil leak appears to be coming from the harmonic balancer area and has already ruined the serpentine belt that along with the harmonic balancer that AAMCO installed is destroyed. [redacted] is willing to do a more thorough diagnostic of the motor and oil leak for a small fee which I would be willing to pay however should the result be of faulty work from AAMCO I would expect to be reimbursed for that fee as well as the original 744.86 I do understand there was no warranty issued for the work AAMCO preformed however I do feel that since AAMCO's diagnoses was that the cause of any other oil leak problems would be due to the internal motor damage I would like there to be proof provided of that to contribute to the massive oil leak that I still currently have and DID NOT appear to be fixed in ANY manner by AAMCO when the 744.86 was paid.

Business

Response:

In response to this complaint, AAMCO does stand by the original diagnosis and repair of said problem. Customer was made aware of possible internal engine damage at time of repair. Original leak was obvious and repaired accordingly. Secondary oil leak not observed when vehicle returned to customer. Obvious, this leak could have occurred anytime after delivery of the vehicle.

Review: I HAD A TRANSMISION REBUILT THEIR ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO. SINCE BEING REBUILT FIRST TIME CAR MADE IT TEN MILES DOWN ROAD AND HAD TO GO BACK. AFTER ANOTHER WEEK IN THE SHOP AND REBUILT AGAIN I PICKED UP. NEXT DAY I TOOK I TO [redacted] TO HAVE TIRES PUT ON AND FIRST THEY CALL AND SAY IS TRANSMISION IS LEAKING SO BACK TO AAMCO AGAIN. THEY GIVE ME EXCUSE THAT TECH DID IT WHEN FILLING TRANSMISION. GOT CAR BACK AND THIS WEEK TRANSMISION LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WIFE TOOK CAR BACK AND WAS TOLD SOLENIOD WAS BAD ABOUT 2.5 HOURS TO FIX. WE ARE ON DAY THREE AND STILL NO CAR. TRIED CALLING OWNER OF SHOP AND SHE WILL NOT RETURN CALL. CALLED AAMCO CORP. TO NO SATIFACTION. WOULD NEVER RECOMMED THIS SHOP TO ANYONE. Response:

Unfortunately the Mazda did come back to Aamco with a problem. Every so often you can get a faulty part. As was the case with the Torque Converter. Though we try to be careful when filling a transmission, however there are times when we accidentally overfill a transmission or spill fluid. We did tell him the truth about fluid being trapped in fins on top of transmission. Aamco honored the warranty on the transmission & apologizes for any inconvenience. The car is working to specs at this time and still has the remainder of the warranty good at any Aamco nationwide.

and his cre of of mechanics at Amoc at Amoco transmission on ar are awesome

Aamco does all of my repairs for my car... Awesome customer service, great prices and excellent work...

Review: In Feb. 2015 I took my car to this AAMCO location to have a new transmission put in. During the repair process they damaged the fan shroud for my radiator and had to replace it. This cost me 2 extra days of having a rental car because the place where they purchased from did not deliver to them when they said they would. They refused to reimburse me for the rental for those 2 extra days. Once the work was done, a few days later I noticed my hood was not closing correctly and I called them...my concerns went unanswered. The other day my radiator gave out and when I took it to my mechanic he asked if I had replaced the fans. I explained what had happened at AAMCO and he said that the shroud had been installed incorrectly, causing the fan to wear a hole in the radiator. he also said this is why the hood was not closing correctly. Again, I sent emails about this to AAMCO, asking for some type of reimbursement, since this was all cause by their mistake and I received no response at all.Desired Settlement: I am asking for 50% reimbursement for the radiator and the 2 extra days of the rental car. That comes to $300.00

Response:

In response to Mr. [redacted] complaint regarding the radiator shroud being installed incorrectly, the shroud had to be removed in order to work on transmission. I do acknowledge that it may have installed incorrectly but since I personally was not here at the time I cannot verify this. I went back and tried to find the e-mails he stated he sent but could not find any history. It is possible that they could have been deleted. Anyway, in retrospect, as a matter of good customer service, I did send him a check for the $300.00 he requested. I do regret that this matter couldn't have been settled earlier before reaching the complaint stage, but hopefully Mr. [redacted] will be satisfied with our response now.[redacted]Customer Service Mgr.AAMCO Transmissions[redacted]

Review: I called Aamco Transmission to get a general quote for a transmission repair. The representative stated they do a free inspection of transmissions. After speaking with a representative I took my Range Rover to Aamco for the free inspection. I gave the representative the code for the slipping transmission and explained what was wrong with the transmission from the information that was giving from the Land Rover dealership and another independent local transmission business. The owner told me to get a more in depth analysis they need to diagnose the care where it may just be an electrical problem. After further discussion I agreed to diagnose the car. While test driving the car the owner told me the car stopped on them when they went to get coffee from [redacted] in my vehicle during a test drive. I was not happy that during a test drive they felt it necessary to stop and get coffee. The owner also gave me an estimate that was different then what was initially discussed and I stated I would pay for the time and pick up my truck. After further discussion the owner stated my truck was ready for pick up. I paid for my hour of diagnosis and drove my truck away. When I arrived at my destination I took off my suit jacket and put it in the backseat to find my headlight sitting in the back seat. I called Aamco and they stated it fell off during the test drive. No one ever told me my light was broken and they did not tell me the light was not on the truck when I pulled off. I could have been pulled over and ticketed for improper equipment. The owner called me and discussed my options for fixing the transmission and not once did she mention my head light fell off during the test but she did tell me she went to [redacted]. I called Aamco and they said it just fell off and was an act of God. They said it fell off while driving on 220 but was able to stop the truck and get out and pick up the head light. I am very dissatisfied and would like my light replace and a refund of diagnosis.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund and my headlight replaced.

Response:

Regarding Mr. [redacted] complaint, he was originally charged 5 hrs. diagnostic labor to which he agreed to pay. As I stated to Mr. [redacted], on the test drive, the headlight fell out. At the time of the incident, the technician's had not even opened his hood. This was clearly an "act of God and would have happened to whomever was driving said vehicle at the time. We charged Mr. [redacted] only the 1 hour diagnostic labor instead of 5 hours he agreed to at a saving of $360.00. While trying to be honest with our customers, it only took 1 hour to diagnose his problem. Considering the act of god and his savings on diagnostic labor, we do not see any justification to his complaint. Thank you

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

As a multiple business owner and to much of my disappointment of this business I was never told my light was damaged and fell off the car. I was told that a joyride trip to [redacted] was taking during the evaluation of the test drive and a tow truck had been called because an additional issue that was not there when I dropped the vehicle off had arose. In response to the diagnoses I spent over 20 minutes discussing this matter with the business owner. She stated that they had completed the free diagnosis and would require verbal permission for up to an additional five hours for their technician to possibly determine the problem. The owner also stated it may only take an hour and I would only be charged for the amount of time the technician spends on the vehicle. Given the fact that the Range Rover had been to the dealership and diagnosed with the proper codes and additional information provided to Aamco I was very confident it would not take long. The problem was evident and did not even take an hour. Hence, there was no savings. The bigger issue is the safety of the driver of the Range Rover. There was no right turn signal on the vehicle when I left the facility. Without knowledge it was disappearing the safety of the driver and others around the driver became a great concern. There could have been an accident among other things. The light was damaged in the possession of the business. It is the responsibility of that business to correct the problem. The only reason I took the Range Rover to Aamco was due to the verbal quote I received from a representative via the telephone. The quote I received via the telephone for a rebuild was less than $2,500 plus any additional parts that were broken or needed to be replace. After Aamco had my vehicle the owner called back to quote over $8,000 without looking at the transmission. All I'm asking for is a return on my labor cost and the turn signal assembly to be replaced with and OEM part.

Response:

We stand behind our original response. This was strictly an act of god and we feel no justifiable obligation to fix or replace something that was totally out of our control. We do regret customer's animosity toward AAMCO.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

As I state before I reject the initial response and have contact my attorney who has given a legal description that will follow. Also when I cleaned my Range Rover there were scratches from the turn light assembly on my vehicle that would need to be touched up. The cost to replace my turn light assemble from the Local Land Rover dealer is ($199.06 plus installation) and I would like my refund o $90.00 for labor that was not needed. That is a total of $289.06 plus installation and the cost to fix the scratches.

My attorney stated the following: [Act of God - A natural catastrophe, such as an earthquake,

tornado, flood, that is beyond any reasonable expectation of control.

Used to negate contractual obligations.

When you leave your car with a mechanic, a

"bailment" relationship is created, which gives rise to several

duties on the part of the mechanic, including the duty to use reasonable care

until you pick it up, to make repairs in a skillful and workmanlike manner, to

inspect your car after making repairs to ensure that it's not a danger to you

or others to drive, and not to engage in fraudulent or deceitful conduct.

An auto mechanic will be liable for damages suffered as a

result of negligent repairs. They

were negligent for not informing you of the "accident" before

you drove off in your car because, in my opinion, your car was not safe to

drive. I also believe they are responsible to repair the scratch to

your vehicle because it happened while they were on a "test drive"

which is part of their obligation to perform work in a workmanlike manner.

The car was scratched while in their care and they failed to use

reasonable care in the performance of their services.]

I have also attached pictures taking on the day in question of my picking up my vehicle. I realized this when I arrived at my destination. I drove to the destination as the vehicle appears in these pictures.

Regards,

[redacted]

Response:

I am truly sorry regarding the circumstances of this complaint. I was hoping to fix customer's transmission problem for a minor repair of which I charged him 5 hours diagnostic labor. On the way back from the test drive, it was confirmed that a minor repair would not fix customer's complaint and I advised customer of this. Customer declined repair and I decided to only charge him 1 hour diagnostic labor which was $90.00. Regarding headlight concern, anyone driving that vehicle at the time of incident would have experienced this situation. I honestly do not feel responsible for this and feel sorry it happened but cannot justify the customer's wishes for us to replace it. As a token of customer service, I will offer to issue a refund of the $90.00 diagnostic charge as long as customer will be placated. Sincerely, Mary Casey owner AAMCO Transmissions

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I will stand on my previous claim and ask for the cost to replace my turn light assembly with the refund of my charge for one hour of labor. My attorney explained the difference between act of God and mechanics liability. Again, I was not charge for 5 hours of labor and there was no savings. I only authorized up to a maximum of 5 hours which I knew it would not take giving the previous diagnosis from Range Rover with codes that were giving to AAMCO.

Regards,

I have a 2003 Acura TL Type-S with transmission problems at 85,000 Miles. Roanoke Acura Dealership would not do warranty work and Honda Customer service said the transmission was repaired in December 2004 due to factory recall. Estimates ranged from $3600 to $4200 to replace with a remanufactured automatic transmission B7WA model. The prices were way too high so in September 2014 I took car to AAMCO in Salem Virginia. There [redacted] and his highly trained staff test drove the Acura, at no charge, to verify my complaints. We all agreed that the tranny needed a rebuild. The initial estimate was $1800 but once the tranny was disassembled it was necessary to replace the torque convertor and several hard parts inside, causing the cost to rise. For $2600 I received a nationwide coverage of three year/36,000 mile warranty on parts and labor. [redacted] even gave me a small military discount as I am a war veteran. The vehicle was completed about 4 days later but we noticed a vibration so he kept it a few more days and diagnosed and repaired the vibration. It was either an out of balance torque convertor or just a broken motor mount. Both were replaced at no charge.

It is my opinion that rebuilding my transmission kept the numbers-matching status of my vehicle, as a remanufactured tranny would have had different serial numbers. It was also cheaper to rebuild than to replace. The shop was very professional in customer service and employees are highly skilled. Even the Acura dealership will not rebuild a transmission due to it's difficulty or lack of profitabilty, they only remove and replace. It was the employees at the Acura dealership who recommended AAMCO in Salem, VA, instead of a higher cost remanufactured unit.

Even though this shop kept the car for a longer time to repair a vibration, I am pleased that they didn't just say, "the car was vibrating before I took it to them so I have to pay for further repairs". It shows that they are understanding and have a high level of integrity which is not present at many other vehicle repair shops. Thanks to [redacted], and [redacted] for their professionalism and attention to detail. Sincerely,

Roanoke, VA [redacted]

Review: I took my vehicle for transmission issuss in April 2014. Was told that the torque converter needed rebuilt for $2624.67 with 3 yr 36, 000 mile warranty and would take a week to complete. I agreed and we (my girlfriend [redacted] and I) applied for [redacted] financing. The repair took two weeks to complete. One week after vehicle was picked up it broke down on my way home from work. Aamco picked it up, was told it was a defective torque converter and another repair for a week was performed. On December 21 2014 vehicle transmission started missing and flashing check light started blinking. I called Aamco and was told it would be picked back up next day or Friday (day after Christmas). Called on Friday, was told they were shorthanded and would bepicked up SSaturday. Called back on Monday and was asked if we could bring it by. We told them no and vehicle was picked up on December 28. Called to check on vehicle every other day and was told it was defective torque converter again and was told about a week to fix. Got the runaround for two more weeks (Called corporate office three times) and finally aamco called to say vehicle was ready on January 13. Picked up vehicle on January 15th at 8:30 a.m. and broke down at 9:15 a.m. I called and Lynchburg aamco said they would have [redacted] aamco pick it up and fix it since they were oser. [redacted] aamco STILL has vehicle. We have missed lots of time from work and spent lots of money on rental cars.Desired Settlement: Either full refund for repair or compensation for rental cars and missed time from work

Response:

In response to [redacted] complaint on [redacted]. The original rebuild of the transmission was done on 4/4/2014 the vehicle had 192,665 miles on it at that time. Shortly after rebuild the torque converter failed and was replaced under warranty. Their vehicle had no problems from that time til 1/5/2015. I talked to [redacted] at that time and explained she wud be responsible for the towing and the fact we were comimg off the christmas and new yesr holiday weeks that if it was a minor repair I would be able to have their vehicle ready that week if not it would be the following week at best as we were behind due to the holidays. After checking the [redacted] we found it was not minor and the transmission had to be removed to repair. We were able to complete the [redacted] at the end of the following week. When picking the vehicle up [redacted] told us it would be a cold day in befor they paid us for the tow so I didnt charge them the towing fee of $80.00. The [redacted] did fail and it was the torque converter again which is a common problem in those vehicles and the fact I might of rushed it here at my shop due to the constant calls almost everyday but that is no excuse. I had it towed to the [redacted] Aamco at no charge and had it repaired at no charge. I feel a refund is not an option at this point due to the fact they have got 13,504 miles out of my service to this point and it was repaired under warranty at no charge. We never refused to repair [redacted] under their warranty it was just bad timing comimg off the holidays. They disputed the charge with the finance company and wanted refund and they agreed with me and denied their refund request. As far as rental reimbersment. Their warranty doesnt cover rental car and [redacted] told me they were borrowing mothers vehicle. If they can show me receipts for rental car I am willing to go $200.00 towards rental minus the $80.00 tow fee they refused to pay. At this point I feel this is fair. Thank you. [redacted]

Review: Me and my husband were recommended to Aamco Transmission by my husbands aunt. So we took our van over there and dropped it off on Nov. 19th for them to fix the transmission because the overdrive light came on. We have a warranty so we were upset to find out that the warranty company would only pay $2,200 for a rebuilt transmission, we had to come up with $800 out of our pocket. We borrowed the money from a family member of mine and gave them the go ahead to work on it. They started working on it and rebulit the transmission but could not get the overdrive light to go out so they decided it had to be a wire. So it took them 3 days maybe even more to determine it was the computer. The general mananger wanted to charge us for the computer but we said no we aren't paying for it. So an employee by the name of [redacted] told us that the shop would eat the cost of the computer since it was thier mistake. They overnighted the computer but it took them 2-3 days before they put it in and then it took an additional 3-4 days for the guy to come flash the computer. The shop called my husband on Dec. 15th saying that the van was ready he told them he would be there after work. Before my husband picked up the van; [redacted] called my husbands aunt who is a customer there and left a message for her. The message stated that we have a $300 balance that we could not afford to pay so would she be able to help with the balance owed. My mother in law called my husband and explained the message was left. My husband went over there to pick the van up and he specifically asked them do we need to do anything else, do we owe you anything and the answer he got from them was no. I called the shop on Dec. 16th asking about the message and [redacted] had no clue about the message but assured me he would look into it and get back to me. I let him know that it was completely inappropriate and unproffessional to call a family member who has nothing to do with this other than she is a customer there and referred us to them. I also told him I don't even think that is legal to do that. They want us to bring our van back to them in 10 days for them to check everything but I'm terrified they will try to keep my vehicle for a balance that we didn't even know we had. We repeatedly asked them before we picked up the van just to make sure we wouldn't have any surprises when the van was ready. All [redacted] kept telling us was all we owed was $800 and that had already been paid. I found out from [redacted] in our converation on the 16th the computer costs $300. The shop didn't tell us about the $300 instead assumed we couldn't afford it and involved a family member to collect the money from. That is completely unproffessional!! I would not recommend this place to anyone!!! And our check engine light is now on and has been since Dec. 16th! Unfortunately we have no choice but to deal with this company in the future because the transmission has a warranty of three years.Desired Settlement: All I want is my van to be fixed and fixed right!!!! I don't want anything to do with this company in this future!

Response:

I am responding to the complaint from [redacted]. I would like to start by saying we had very little contact with [redacted] during this repair process. Her husband Mr. [redacted] contacted my shop and said he had a transmission problem with his van and and was reffered to us by a family member. He stated he had an extended warranty on van. We asked him to drop off for diagnostics which he did. His extended warranty is through [redacted] warranty. After our diagnostics were complete we found his van had an internal transmission problem. After calling [redacted] and verifing his contract we then contacted Mr. [redacted] and told him he is to authorize the removal and dismantle of the transmission which he authorized. He was aslo told that alot of the extended warranty companies will only pay up to a used transmission and he may have to come out of pocket for a rebuilt transmission. After removal and dismantle we contacted [redacted] and they sent an adjuster out to confirm damage in transmission. The adjuster reported back to [redacted] and tey authorized $2200.00 which is used transmission price. We then discounted our rebuild price over $600.00 to bring the total cost down to where Mr. [redacted] would only be responsible for $800.00 which included his $100.00 deductible. The damage was in the transmission which the warranty adjuster saw and noted. After rebuild and installing in van yes there was a computer failure which caused the damage to transmission to begin with. We contacted Mr. [redacted] to let him know we were willing to let him have computer at our cost. He said he did'nt have the money and was gonna try borrow it from family member. It was Mr. [redacted] that informed us that [redacted] was going to pay for it. We wouldve never contacted [redacted] had he not told us that. We just wanted to confirm it. Even when Mr. [redacted] came to pick van up he told us [redacted] was gonna call and give us credit card number for payment on computer. I've been in business 35 years. I vaule [redacted] and [redacted] And Mr. [redacted] satisfaction. I am not wanting payment for computer. It can be a christmas gift from Aamco. And I do still want them to bring van by so we can recheck our work. We would try hold their van. Thank You. [redacted]

Regards,

Review: Where do I begin? Talking to [redacted] and [redacted] on the phone about the transmission in the beginning I was told that AAMCO did the best quality work for the best price. Transmissions go through a highly detailed inspection after they are complete and how their technicians are the best around yada yada. I was originally quoted a price by [redacted] of $2895 for most of the work and that at the absolute most this would cost me would be $3200-3300 on Friday June 14th. If they didn’t need as many parts as expected the price could come in a lot lower than $ 2895.They told me my car would be ready by Tuesday and maybe Wednesday worst case scenario (The car was towed by them on Saturday). On Tuesday I called and they told me it would be at least Wednesday maybe now Thursday before it was ready. So I called Thursday and now its Friday at best. So at this point I asked [redacted] how much and what actually happened to transmission. He told me a bushing on inside had ruptured. I asked him how much this was going to cost and he said we came in a little bit better than I had originally thought. It was going to be around $2700 and all they had left to do was put in the torque converter on Friday morning. I said is this the FINAL price? He replied no, that taxes weren’t included. I asked him how much tax would be and he said around $125 dollars. So I said roughly $3000. His reply and I quote “No, better than that roughly $2900. I repeated this back to him over the phone. So the total cost of this is around $2900 give or take $50 bucks, and his answer was yes. So after telling me the car wouldn’t be ready until the end of the day on Friday I proceeded to drive up 1.5 hr drive to Roanoke. While I’m on my way up there I get called by a financial company in Lynchburg to apply for an all-purpose loan with interest. I told them that I would not be interested since I was told that I had 180 days same as cash option. So I arrive at AAMCO and when I looked down at the loan paperwork it had the wrong amount financed and the total amount was $3964. $1000 dollars more than [redacted] had told me over the phone. [redacted] was pushy for me to sign this paperwork and I kept telling him this amount was incorrect. He told me well don’t worry about it the interest doesn’t apply if you pay it off in 180 days. I said well [redacted] the total amount financed is incorrect (Around $3300). He argued with me for about 30 minutes and finally I spoke with [redacted] said well [redacted] has been working here for 10 years and he would never give a final price over the phone before why would he now. My reply was all the work was completed when I was on my way up so how did it go up 1000 dollars in last hour. [redacted] said she had never had anything happen like this before so she proceeded to call someone and ask their opinion on this (Owners usually can make their own decisions). She came back and said she didn’t know what to do. I told her how about giving me the price [redacted] had told me over the phone (2900). She said she couldn’t and she didn’t offer any explanation why the price had proceeded to be $1000 more than what was quoted me. [redacted] even had the nerve to ask me “How does this make me feel.” At this point I told her give me the pen and I will sign before I say/do something that’s going to get my in some serious trouble. Plus they knew they had me since I needed the car and live an hour and half away. After going outside and getting in the car I noticed that the interior had multiple grease/oil stains on the door, headrest and seats. In conclusion, you better be prepared to pay way more than the price that is quoted to you. I will NEVER ever do business with this company again and I will make everyone aware of this company!!!!I have already contacted corporate and filed a complaint on this issue. The only way this is going to get resolved is to thru the court system.Desired Settlement: Total bill to be what was told to me mulitple times over the phone by the manager [redacted] ($2900).

In response to complaint # [redacted]:

After diagnosing customer's vehicle, I contacted him and advised him that the base price for the repair is $2895.00 and internal damaged parts would be an additional cost. Customer was assured that he would not paying what the dealer wanted which was $4200.00 but I could not give him final cost until transmission was removed from vehicle and inspected for damage. When transmission was removed and inspected, I contacted customer to advise him that a bearing had come apart inside transmission and did damage to interior of transmission. I explained we had to replace a complete planetary assembly , rear support , solenoid block , direct drum & torque converter and the final repair cost was $3782.17 plus tax which would be approximately $120.-125. Customer acknowledged the cost and verbally approved the final repair as is per AAMCO's protocol to get final approval from customer which was documented by time, date customer's verbal authorization. We did have a time delay in returning customer's vehicle because being a Subaru, the torque converter had to ordered and shipped which caused 2 day delay. When customer arrived to pick-up his vehicle, he seemed surprised at repair amount and complained. I asked him one question, how could logically this repair to less than the base price we quoted at $2895.00? He insisted I misquoted. I showed him the estimate that I used when I talked to him but he wouldn't listen. I respect the fact that he believed he was misquoted but in the 10 years and thousands of customers I have dealt with, AAMCO's proper authorization protocol was adhered to and we've never had a complaint such as this. It is, and always has been our position that every customer gets a quality job at a fair price (which was still less than dealer's price) and that service was performed.

Response:

Well basically the price was never told to me unitl I asked to see the final bill (which I asked for many times), all [redacted] wanted to do was tell me thats not the price you pay if you pay the loan off early. The price was TOLD to me over the phone 1hr before I arrived to pick the car up which was 2900. I will never do business with them again and I will make sure that everyone I know doesn't as well. My question for [redacted] would be how can the same company with a different location only about 40 miles away give me a price that is $1500 dollars less. By the way did I mention this is owned by the same family. Can't speak for the lynchburg aamco but I can honestly say this tramission place located in roanoke are crooks.
