Absolutely absurdWe called to cancel our services prior to our year contract being over, so we knew we were going to get hit pretty hard with cancellation fees (totally okay with paying the cancellation fees)What we were not okay was the continuous lies and deception the employees gave us
Our first call was initiated on Dec19th, (the day the house was being sold) to cancel the servicesOn that day, we were told the final amount due and that it would be auto-debited from our account on the following month when our monthly payment was typically auto-debited
In January, we watched for the cancellation to hit the account, but it didn'tInstead, they billed us our monthly amountImmediately, we called to find out what was going onThis time we were told, oh yes we see you cancelled, but there is a day window before the services are actually cancelled
Okay, fine, but will the amount for cancellation now be reduced? The representative stated with great certainty, yes since you paid January's monthly amount your cancellation amount will reflect that and then proceeded to give us the new cancellation terms
At that time, we requested our checking account info be removed, as we wanted a paper invoice mailed to us, for our records and to be sure no more payments were taken from us without our being aware of themThe representative promised an invoice was being sent in the mail that day, so we could pay the final balance
However, that bill never arrivedInstead, I discovered they "sent" (it was never sent anywhere except our online portal) us a February bill for the monthly amount due and increased the cancellation amount by $without ever notifying us OR sending the bill we had requested in the first place
Thanks for wanting payments, but not sending bills and lying to us the entire timeWe would have happily paid the amount initially agreed uponNow, not so much

We had ADT install a security system in our new home It was been a complete and utter disaster and it's only been two months! Last week the system which was not set sent an alarm and the sheriff showed up IT WASN'T EVEN SET! I called ADT and was given an excuse that DEFENDER had the contract We are charged $more a month than was promised and we are beyond disgusted I will say we have had Protection One in Seattle for years and they are phenomenal What a shame ADT is such a pathetic mess

In October 2015, I called to cancel service I was convinced to stay with the company after being offerred a lower rate and a free re-installation after a remodeling where the keypad had been located They scheduled me for re-installation on November 2nd, 2015, but I called the installer stating that I needed to reschedule because the repairs were not completed on time He said that he would call back in two weeks, but never did I called the number that he gave me three different times over the course of a few weeks, but he never called me back My husband and I decided that if he wasn't going to come install the keypad, we weren't going to sign back up for service
Over the course of the year, ADT had been billing my account despite me never having a keypad re-installed I called ADT and spoke with a representative and then a manager (Tyra - employee # XXXXXX) who told me that it was my fault because I never called t

Deceptive practices from the beginningDo not do business with ADTAfter receiving a pamphlet in the mail saying 19.99$ for the first months, and regular price thereafter for two more years I called ADT sales departmentAfter a tedious questioning - on my part - I was transferred to the manager who assured me that I would get the 19.99$ a month for the fist months, then 38.99$ plus tax for the next two year, a 99$ installation fee with a 100$ gift cardThe manager was pressuring to have a technician come the next for installationI told him that I just wanted to have someone do an estimate of what could be done and at what price before I'd commit to anything in a contractThen after the evaluation and agreed upon details of a contract I would have ADT install their equipment and start their service at the end of the monthThe manager agreedI agreed to have the technician do an estimate two days laterThe day the technician came, he had equipment in hand ready to installI had to remind him of my phone call with the sales manager and that I wanted to make sure that I would get what ADT claimed they could provide in the publicity before any work could be startedThe technician applied pressure sales tacticsI had him finally admit that he was pushed by ADT to do itTheir tactics are called "educating the customers of the FtKnox security protection options"I understood the man had to do his job; I listen but stuck to my guns; 19.99$ first months with 38.99$ a months thereafterThe technician spent most of the hours long "installation" over the phone with his manager followed by business deal conversations with me telling me that he (the technician) would personally give me a good dealI insisted that I did not want a good deal from him, but just what I was told over the phone two days priorMake the story short, I signed a contract for 19.95$ for the first months followed by 48.99$ a months for two more years due to some incompatibility in technology And the contract would have to start right away and not at the end of the month as I initially agreed over the phone
Then I received the first bill - conveniently sent after the day try-out period - from ADT87$not the 19.95$ plus tax a month I had signed for on the little tablet the technician had me signI quickly realized through ADT "customer" service that I had to call a third party company - Defender Security - I had dealt withAt no time was I told by the technician that he was from Defender Security; on the contrary, he told me he had been working for ADT for over one yearOver the phone with the defender Security consultant, she told me that whatever I signed the day of the installation was not a contract but a mere Order Summary and that the contract stated differentlyDespite explaining to her that I had clearly signed for a 19.95$ for months followed by 48.99$ for months with 99$ installation fee with 100$ gift card (to compensate for installation) as seen in the Order Summary, she found a obscure reason to invalidate the agreement ADT had me sign with themTo make the story short I felt like being in the movie Idiocracy having to explain that water is good for plants while hearing someone else tell me that Brando was great because it had electrolytesthe conversation lead to being informed that the day try-out period was over and that I would have to pay 75% of the amount of the year contract to get out of the criminal contract
In conclusion, this dealing with ADT was misleading - to say the least -from the beginning to the end; pressure tactics called "educating the customer", the technician telling you that he is going to "do me a favor" to make sure you get what you were told over the phone by a sales manager, to simply criminal billing practice billing higher terms than previously agreed upon

I've had nothing but trouble with this company and it's authorized dealer Home DefenseI was never told I was going to be under contract with anyone other than ADT and neither company knows what the other is doing or has done as they have separate policiesI regret ever calling ADTThe monitoring equipment seems to work okay but I hope I never have an actual emergency because they can't even transfer a phone call to the right department with the right information

ADT scammed my husband into a year contract when we moved

System never functioned for a month - will not credit

I have been trying to cancel my ADT services since december 15, every time I get on the phone with a rep they transfer me to another rep than to another, its been extremely frustrating while they keep charging metwo weeks ago a manager called me but they have yet to cancel, I tried again today 3/22/17, I was still unable to cancel it

We had our personal property stolen and our ADT system failed to activate and record ADT now refuses to allow us to cancel service without penalty
We have had ADT Pulse products at our home for over a year and a half We have never had any reason to believe we were not fully protected by these cameras However, in June, both of our vehicles were entered and approximately $of personal property was taken Our ADT camera, which was sold to us a motion-activated camera with night vision, failed to activate and record the thief We know the cameras were working because they recorded us the night before in the driveway at our vehicles and the morning after actually discovering the theft We even have ourselves and the police on camera that same morning with him investigating the vehicles and taking the report The police officer advised us that IF the camera had recorded, they could have posted the video to social media and likely caught the perpetrator Since the camera FAILE

I have had problems from the beginning with ADT The original estimate to install my system was way off, costing me twice as much as was quoted When I cancelled the service, the company failed to enter the cancellation and continued showing one of the systems on my property as active, months after I paid the early termination fee I have been unable to get the issue resolved in spite of repeated calls over several months Will never use ADT again or recommend it to anyone I know
