Alignable Reviews (176)

This company practices unethical activities. They mine your contact list and then spam you and others with "invitations" to join a network. Proof: I still have names and address information in my contact list of individuals and/or companies that I have not been in contact with for a decade or more and would never consider talking to the individuals much less doing business with them.
Avoid Alignable. It is just a 'wanna-be' *** or ***.

Alignable Response • Dec 11, 2018

Hi ***,
I am so sorry to hear about your frustrations. Thanks for the chance to provide some clarity. Alignable’s No.1 priority is member satisfaction through transparency and honesty.
Let me start by explaining why we ask our members to go through the process of connecting their address books with Alignable. At its core, Alignable is a site dedicated to helping small business owners generate referrals by networking with their existing connections and with literally millions of other small business owners in our network.
Because we know that the people who are most likely to recommend and refer you are already in your network, we give you the opportunity to connect your address book and import your email connections at your discretion. Rest assured, no contacts are imported or invited to join without our members’ permission. And we offer them the ability to choose which members from their contact list they would like to add to their Alignable network.
Ultimately, expediting referrals and recommendations for your business is the goal. And, for your reference, here are some examples showing how our process has driven referrals for other members: Alignable Success Stories.
That being said, we want to help remedy your situation. Please reach out to [email protected] with your business and account information and one of our team members can help make changes to your account that reflect your current needs.
All the best,
Nick P

Good service, though I don't get the impression they have a whole lot of people that use it. My guess is that it's just under-advertised or a new service. However, it's nice to have another place that people can share testimonials & give feedback on businesses they know.

At this time Alignable meets the definition of one of the worst types of spammer. Without clear understanding and explicit consent, Alignable takes advantage of people by getting access to their Google account so they can harvest all of their connections email addresses and then use the person's identity to trick people into joining Alignable for Alignable's benefit.

Alignable advertises at ***- that "Our main focus right now is growing our user base, so spamming people would only hurt us, ruin our reputation, and ultimately cause fewer people to join in the long-term. We have no interest in doing that."

In actuality, Alignable indiscriminately emails everyone in your address book with emails like:

It’s *** from *** Photography in Alameda.

I’d like to be able to refer customers to you, so I’ve added you to my network on Alignable, a site exclusively for business owners to network with each other.

Accept my invitation

(Note: this invite expires in 24 hours)

And then try to create fake urgency likely using a fake employee name:

This is *** from Alignable. I wanted to make sure you received the invitation from ***.

Due to demand in your local area, we're limiting the number of businesses that can join at this time.

Since you were invited by a current user, I've extended your signup window through the end of today to make sure you don't miss out!

My customer who gave Ailgnable access to her Google Account, which Alignable then sent emails in a careless and out of control manner, is fretting as to the impact to her business. And my time is wasting de-activating her accounts and figuring out how to be best contact her customer base.a

The damage is already done. There is no way to take back all of those emails. I don't believe that my business associate followed those steps, but even if they did then the best user experience is to limit the batch invite and only continue if good open, click through, and accept rates, but your "powerful tool" is broken as I am not a business owner in the area and I was among those invited.

Aside, the information you are providing here is inconsistent with your responses elsewhere were you try to distract the complainant that they had to verify their decision 5 times. Clearly at the most generous you are not making it clear about what your service actually does and how viral it is.

It's really sad that you operate in a way that jeopardizes the trust of these small businesses customers.

I was literally trying to figure out how to start talking to local businesses, with my new offering. I received an email from a friend, fellow business owner, with the invite to Alignable. Boom! Thousands of local business contacts, that I can let them know what I'm offering. Friendly community exchanges of ideas, and exactly how I want to talk too.

This company began spamming and reaching out to all my contacts attached to my email asking them to join their network to earn more business. I did not agree to this.

Hi ***!

Alignable’s No. 1 priority is member satisfaction -- a big portion of that satisfaction comes from our dedication to transparency and honesty. We are so sorry that you had this negative experience. It is definitely not indicative of the service we regularly provide.

Just to clarify, Alignable does not access your email account without your direct permission. Any claims that we "hack" or "break into" members’ accounts are completely false.

Also, we never attempt to deceive you by "pretending to be you" in order to access your email account. Likewise, we never send messages or invitations to join Alignable on your behalf to anyone -- unless you’ve given us direct permission to do so.

In order to send invitations to your imported address book, you are required to opt-in 5 times, including granting permissions to your email clients. Based on our tracking, it looks like you opted in the required 5 times.

Also, after we showed you a list of all the businesses in your address book that are already on Alignable, it looks like you clicked “Connect All.” At that point, we displayed a list of businesses in your address book that you could invite and it looks like you clicked, “Add All To Network.”

I am really sorry if this process was not clear. If you would like to schedule some time to walk through the screens and the notifications we sent, I’d be more than happy to arrange that call.

Feel free to send me an email at *** so that we can go through everything.

This company did not make it clear that they are going to be sending invites to my contacts. I am not the only person who has complained about this exact thing. They gain users by reaching out to peoples contacts and purposefully make it not clear and then come back saying you "opted in" 5 times. Maybe I did "opt in" 5 times, but trust me when I say that if I received an opt in that said "would you like to send invites to all your contacts to join Alignable" I would have said no. I would not have "opted" in. This company uses very deceiving tactics to gain users and I will be spreading the word and have already to everyone they had reached out to.

Hey ***,

I am so sorry again if it was unclear. We label all members on Alignable as “Connections”, and all members that are not on Alignable as “Invites.” Additionally, after the 5 notifications, the page where you sent invites was labeled “Invite these businesses to your network.” We are continually working to make this process better, as thousands of members daily invite hundreds of thousands of their contacts to the network. That being said, it looks like you deactivated your account, so any future invitations have been deactivated, as well. If you ever change your mind and decide to join Alignable again, you can always email me personally at ***.

I am a graphic designer and had wanted to meet some new clients so tried the new social media site Alignable. I have recently met two great local clients and have appreciated being able to meet people in my home town that I can do business with and get new referrals from.

I have just upgraded my alignable account to premium and something happened and I can't login into my account anymore. I tried reseting it but the reset link never comes to my e-mail, I tried using their email sign in token and also didn't work. The only form of contact they have is through email and they take forever to answer.
I think that login problems are really priority and should be solved right away, every day I can't log into my account it is a day that I can't grow my business network and if I can't grow my business network why am I paying them?
