Allstar Marketing Group Reviews (175)

Review: It was a bait & switch for a TV advertisement. On [redacted], 2013 I order SideSocket online as a result of a TV ad. They advertised to buy it for $10/$7.95 sh-hdlg. If ordered, an additional item free with cost only an additional shipping & handling. My total was $25 plus tax. On the site they kept offering upgrades and other items. I agreed to upgrading the item to surge protecting capability for a small increase. What I didn't realize was that my processing fee suddenly ballooned from $16 to $60. This is the processing fees. I would have cancelled my order right then, but there was no opportunity to review the order before it was processed. I never would have placed the order if I was aware of what they were doing. Don't they have to have you confirm an order before they can place it. When I tried to call customer service, they were unavailable. When I tried to contact someone on-line it led to a site that wasn't working. I called my credit card company and they said that when the charge is posted, I can call back and challenge the charge. This is clearly a rip off and others should be aware before they get stuck.Desired Settlement: I don't want the items and I don't want my credit card charged. I want them to provide confirmation page on their order website so that others won't fall for charges that they wouldn't agree to. I want them to discontinue their desceptive ad. If their product is such a great deal, they should be able to sell it fairly.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Based on the TV ad, I believed I was paying $19.95 + s&h with a $5 upgrade. I was expecting around a $30 total but wasn't presented with the amount until after the order was submitted. The amount was over $80! I was shocked. I should be presented with the amount before the order is submitted. I feel scammed. I don't believe they are operating ethically. Please review.I canceled my card in hopes that I could prevent this company from charging me this amount.

Review: This company sells cat toys via their web site www.getcatsmeow.com. They offer one cat toy for $19.99 plus $7.99 s&h and indicate that you can add a second toy for $7.99 s&h. Copied from website: "Extra Cat's MeowBuy 1, Get 1 Free Sets!Cat's Meow is the cat toy your cat can't resist! Now is the perfect time to add extra sets to your order! Through this special offer, you get Cat's Meow for only $19.99 plus $7.99 P&H. BUT WAIT, now you can buy one, get one FREE! Just pay an additional $7.99 P&H.Plus during this one time web only special, we'll include a mystery gift, absolutely free!To add additional Cat's Meow Buy 1, Get 1 Free Sets to your order, select the quantity and click the Yes button now!"I indicated I was not indicated and was taken to a second website that offered an identical offer but with a 25% discount off the product price ($14.99 + $7.99 s&h) I again indicated I was not interested. I did not get a chance to preview the order before submission. Despite declining the second toy, the order showed buy 1 get 1 free. Product cost $19.99, shipping $15.90 and total: $35.90. I phoned the company and was told that they only process buy one get one free orders. If I indicated I wanted a second toy, they would have processed a duplicate order at full price. It seems a scam to force you into purchasing something you do not want and deceiving people who interested in a second product into buying a product a full cost.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund The company was reluctant to remove these charges. I have asked my credit card company to decline this charge. I would like this refunded or a single product. I also would hope that the website is clarified so future consumers are not deceived as I was.

Review: This complaint is about billing issues, customer service issues, product issues, guarantee/warranty issues, and refund/exchange issues. The offer is for a "buy one, get one free order" for the Cat's Meow Toy for $19.95, plus shipping and handling. I ordered one online, but the order-entry screen showed two orders. I immediately called to report the problem and was able to stop the 2nd order. I was charged $35.89 for one order ($15.94 for shipping and handling!).The product arrived, and my cat's were thrilled with it. Unfortunately, the motor in the toy ground to a stop within 2 days. I called and was shipped not one, but TWO replacements (of two toys each). Not one of these toys lasted more than two days. Then, my credit card statement arrived showing I was charged for two orders - $71.78. I again called customer service. I was told I would be given a credit of $71.78. I offered to return the SIX non-functioning toys if they would send me a pre-paid shipping label (but that I would not return them at my expense). I was told I would be mailed shipping instructions and a prepaid shipping label.I was sent shipping instructions, but no prepaid shipping label. I again called the company and was told that I HAD NOT BEEN TOLD I would be sent a pre-paid shipping label, because they don't have such a thing. Further, I was told that, if I did not return the six non-functioning toys within 30 days, I would be charged for all of them (that comes to $107.67!). When I protested and asked to speak to a supervisor, the "customer service specialist" hung up on me.When I just checked to see if there were any reviews or complaints online about this company and their scam (they obviously know there are problems with the product), there were hundreds, going back to 2010 (I should have checked before ordering :-). This company needs some serious fraud management, and I hope you are able to take action to stop this. Thank you for being there and providing consumer this means of filing a complaint! I purchased 2 secret extensions ($76.97) on 7/**/14, and I received them at the end of August. I returned them both on 9/*/14 via certified mail (I called them first and got an RMA[redacted]). I have never received the refund and I have called [redacted] and they have no record of a refund. Review: This product was nothing like it was advertised on TV. When I ordered it there was no chance to decline. They asked for billing info and then submitted it. Review: ON JUNE ** 2013 I PLACED AN ORDER FOR ONE SET OF ZOOMIES FOR $10.00. AFTER PLACING THE ORDER I WAS INFORMED I HAD PURCHASED SOMETHING FOR 104.70. I DO NOT KNOW OR UNDERSTAND WHAT HAS HAPPENED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND WAS INFORMED I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL IT SHOWED UP IN THEIR SYSTEM TO CALL BACK IN THE MORNING. I DID AT 8:06 A.M. THE LADY SAID IT STILL WAS NOT SHOWING UP TO CALL BACK IN ABOUT 2 HOURS. I CALLED BACK IN ONE HOUR AND WAS INFORMED MY PURCHASE HAD ALREADY BEEN PROCESSED AND SHIPPED. THEY GRACIOUSLY OFFERED ME 25$ OFF THE PURCHASE TO JUST KEEP IT. THEY COULD NOT STOP SHIPMENT OR REIMBURSE ME EXCEPT FOR THE $25. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A $75 PURCHASE THAT AT MOST SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY ABOUT $30. I FEEL AS IF I WAS RIPPED OFF AND HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I CAN DO ABOUT IT. Review: I was going to order this product until I saw the exorbitant shipping charges. I exited the website without agreeing to these inflated and unreasonable prices (48.00 shipping for an item that could be shipped to anywhere in the US for 5.60). This was on 12-**-13. On 01-**-14 I received an email stating that on 12-**-13 they had shipped my order. I never finalized this order and I do not want the product. I called my credit card and placed a hold on the charge, I called the company and was told basically that I was an it and they would't refund my money. I told them that I would refused the package at the Post Office and it would be returned to them. The "Customer Service" representative said that I would not get my shipping charges refunded because most people know when you click the "next" button you are placing the order (this was before the shipping charges were stated) This company has extremely poor business practices and even worse customer serviceDesired Settlement: The entire purchase price and the inflated shipping and handling charges refunded. An apology would be nice but I won't hold my breath.

Review: Zoomies glasses are no good. The commerical on television says they zoom 300% and help people see that can't see well. The commercial states if I stand across from a lake I can see across it....I cannot. My husband cannot and neither can three other people that tried them out. I paid my hard earned money trying to help our vision and it doesn't work. When used for a minute or so they cause dizziness and blurred vision. They are cheaply made and don't even fit on the face well. This is majorly false advertising...Help Revdex.com!!!Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund for my crappy purchase. I want the entire price and the shipping and handeling that I paid..THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! LORD BLESS YOU!

Review: **/**/2013 - 6:30pm PST: Cats Meow toy ordered online. Commercial claims $20 for one and a 2nd bonus toy would be shipped as well. When ordering online, the website doesn't give you an opportunity to review your order before charging your card. When ordering it appears that you are ordering one item, but the website keeps flipping to a new page asking if you want to order 1 of this product and when you click yes, it flips to another page asking if you are ordering 1, flips to another page asking if you are interested in something having completely nothing to do with the product and by the time it flips through approx 5 pages of what appears to be about the "one" product you are intending to order, the site immediately posts thank you for your order and your $20 anticipated order is now $110! I immediately called the customer service number and was told that they were closed that I need to call back in the morning. Afraid that my card would be charged if I waiting, "[redacted]" told me not to worry just call first thing in the morning (they are on the east coast; I'm on the west coast). Since [redacted] told me they open at 8am, I got up at 5:30am to make sure to get a hold of them soon after their office opened to make sure my order wasn't processed. When I called I was told the order for 6 cat toys (who the heck needs 6 cat toys) had already shipped. IMPOSSIBLE! They said the order is "already on the trailer and cannot be pulled". I told them I didn't want my card charged and low and behold too bad, it's already been charged. They refused to cancel my order and get the order off "the trailer". There is a ton of complaints online and I just wish I would have investigated it before I placed my order. Their website is deceptive and misleading and no company should be allowed to charge a credit card before giving consumers the opportunity to review the order and dollar amount. Ripoff report on the internet has multiple postings regarding this. I just wish I had researched it before I used my card online. Maybe this is a "stupid penalty" for me being naive. This website needs to either be changed to allow people to review their order and charge amounts before submitting and charging the card or the company should be shut down for deceptive practices.Desired Settlement: To either get these people to change the way they process credit cards over the internet and allow people to review their purchase and amount to be charged BEFORE the charge goes through. Or this business should be shut down. There's many complaints on the internet about Allstar Marketing who represents the cat's meow website. This company has other products/internet websites and has other complaints about these other products for the same issues I have posted here. This is an ongoing issue.

Review: I placed an order on "Get One Get One Free" Cat's Meow toy (along with the mystery item if I made that selection) that was advertised on TV and on website on September [redacted] and it was shipped and delivered a few weeks later during the week of September [redacted]. When I ordered it, it came in amount of $35.98. I called the customer service and questioned why the shipping and handling fees double. THey said the fees apply to EACH item. A few weeks later I recieved the large box...it turned out that they packed two cat toys in one SMALL box and then that SMALL box was put in a LARGE box with lots of space in it. THey left a dangerous mystery item--the knife that wasn't really secured without any protection covering the sharp blade (the knife has two blades on each side) in the large spaced box. THis package is really ridiculious because they should have shipped off the SMALL box without needing the LARGE one. I feel that I was ripped off on the shipping/handling fees in amount of $7.95 each item which costs me $15.95. It could cost less for one small box with two toys fitting in the same space. See the attached pic (on the next page on this website) of what the package looks like.Desired Settlement: I'd like an explaination of why they ridiciously use the large box when they only need the SMALLER one to be shipped. I feel that I am being ripped off on these shipping/handling fees for the unacceptable or unreasonable shipping package kit. I'd like to have them implement the package to be suitable and reasonable. If it comes to knifes or any sharp objects, I'd like them to be secured without being loose in the large box.I'd deserve to have some refund on these ridicious shipping fees.

Review: From a TV ad we called to order this product - Side Socket. The phone order was done in automated fashion - you never speak to a person. Once you placed your order, their phone system keeps pestering you with phone offers ad nauxeum. I finally hung up. Ever since that call I have been receiving dozens of email ads without any way to "unsubscribe" from these sites. It is clear that this company gave out my email address without my permission, and now I o not know how to stop all of the ridiculous spam. We did receive the product. Because we could never finish the phone call we were never told the final charge, nor was that on anything sent with the product. The one page sent did not give the official name of the company nor any phone number. The address I entered above was the return address on the package. We resent having to receive all these ads merely from placing this order, and resent the company not giving more complete information about themselves. On the one slip in the package, it said the product was trademarked by "APG". Product_Or_Service: Side SocketDesired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation) We want the company to get the email address away from all the companies they passed it on to so we can stop receiving spam.

When trying to contact the company all I get is automated service with no option to talk with a live person in order to return product and receive a refund. Review: I recently placed an order with [redacted]. When I started the order process I was immediately asked for my credit card information which I thought was strange, but complied. I wanted to order one item and saw that the quantity pull-down field was set at one, so I continued to the next screen. I got an error message and another screen stating that I had to select a quantity, so I selected one. I continued on through a few other screens offering me other items, which I did not set a quantity, and finally got to the end expecting to see a preliminary order come up to verify prior to submitting it. Wrong. The order went straight into their system without me even seeing what I was ordering. I got a screen print of the order after it was submitted for processing.Turns out the quantity I actually ordered was two, with an additional item I didnt even know I ordered. Now I know why they wanted the credit card information up front. What I thought was going to be a $35.00 order turned out to be $102.67, when I finally got a print of the order. The order was placed on Sunday afternoon, Aug [redacted] around 2 pm EST and I immediately called their customer service to cancel the order, but they were not available. The first thing Monday, Aug [redacted] at 9:00am EST, I got in touch with their customer service and was told that the order had already shipped! I pointed out that the web site states: please allow 2-6 weeks for delivery, but she insisted that it had already shipped.I was told that I could keep what I wanted and return the rest, which would cost me return shipping or keep the entire order and donate what I didnt want to charity. After some arguing, the customer service representative, finally said that I could write Refused on the unopened box and send it back without any further shipping costs. After talking to customer service, I checked by credit card information and sure enough the charge was put through. I also checked the status of my order on their website and it showed in process, not shipped. I have not received the merchandise as yet and am waiting to see how long it takes to get from the distribution point to Arizona. The whole process was deceptive and designed to specifically trick the person into ordering other things they didnt want.

Review: Cat's Meow advertises "Buy One, Get One Free", with additional shipping and handling. The shipping and handling came to $16.00, which in itself was outrageous for the size of the box, but that's not the nature of my complaint. My daughter has 2 cats and I have one. We bought 2 toys although we thought the extra shipping/handling charges were excessive. I have had 4 heart attacks and my daughter is disabled. Therefore she does all of her own and my shopping online as neither of us can carry anything or walk around stores or malls. She paid $16.00 for batteries, and more money for a Phillips screwdriver. Neither requirement is stated in the TV advertisement. Totally, we spent over $50.00 for a $20.00 offer. Once my daughter finally got the batteries/screwdriver and assembled the toy my cat loved it - for 90 minutes. Then it died. My poor little cat was like a heartbroken child on Christmas. Her 2 cats were afraid of the toy, so she brought the 2nd one to my cat. This one was worse. Worked for about 30 minutes and then literally "ran a muck". T The motor and lid completely separated and collapsed. When my daughter visited the CM site for refund, it stated refunds given minus shipping and handling. Or....you can accept an additional $5.00 with a $20.00 refund if you don't wish to return the toys. That is unacceptable. Why should we pay any shipping at all for junk that never worked? Also, before dying and falling apart, the "mouse", which is only a stick, kept falling out of the motor and turning sideways. Yellow "blanket" is too big, so you can't see "tail" moving. All that is visible is a lumpy yellow blanket that moves. We want a full $20 refund PLUS $15.89 we paid for S/H. If my daughter has to go through the pain of going to the post office to return, we want return shipping reimbursed. This product is a huge rip-off. Would've complained sooner, but by the time she got the batteries/screwdriver and we tried both toys time had passed.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

Refund -$20 for toys, $15.89 for S/H, and return shipping cost. Daughter has spinal nerve damage. It is intensely painful to stand on line at post office. If they won't arrange pick-up, return shipping should be added to refund. I guarantee my daughter will post this all over [redacted], [redacted], and every Internet consumer complaint si

Review: Web site for ordering appears to intentionally double the initial planned order. There is no notice that the doubling has occurred. You are then given 2 options: one is to process the order and one is to "return to my original order" - but when this option is selected, the doubled order is processed with no information about cancellation. When clicking the provided link to "CustomerStatus" the customer is told there is a "two hour" delay for orders being "posted" - which, in this age of instantaneously updating databases, appears to be a ploy to delay the customer's ability to complain and thus reduce the chance that the order will be cancelled. All of this appears to be carefully designed to force the customer into over-ordering and then make it difficult to edit or cancel the order.Desired Settlement: 1) Cancellation of the order.2) Investigation as to the legality and/or conformance to any applicable standards of online commerce that may have been violated.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Comment:

I suggest that you modify your site somewhat. The confusion generated is that the initial offer related to the Perfect Bacon Bowl is two bowls with an "option" to purchase 2 more for a total of 4. In actuality, there is no way to purchase just two and 4 bowls is the default. Then there is an additional offer to purchase an "additional set" - it is unclear at this point whether the additional set takes 2 bowls to 4 or 4 bowls to 8.

Then, once you can see that 8 bowls (2 sets) are ordered, you cannot change the order back to 4. Clicking on "return to original order" (or similar) actually results in a purchase.

Review: there is an infomercial on tv for a product called chop magic. the commercial says that you can chop, mince, cube, slice & dice. the complete set is only $19.95. I went online and bought the product and when it came it had only 2 blades that chop and dice. when I called back they told me that the blades to perform the other tasks were extra. apparently when I entered the info on line to buy it alerts you that these other items are extra. I think they should mention all that in the tv ad so that you know it is going to cost alot more than $19.95 to get the product that they are demonstrating. this infomercial is very deceiving.Desired Settlement: they should change their tv commercial to clarify all this and let people know what the actual cost will be if you want to do everything they say the product will do.
