Beacon Moving & Storage Reviews (161)

Beacon Moving is Extremely fast working and productive team. Very trust worthy and the best moving experience in Linden, New Jersey.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The actual issue of the wrong estimate being given to the movers and the estimate with all the inventory items being given to us has not been addressed. We have tried to speak with the manager multiple times regarding this issue. Stephanie said that a mistake was made, and that the cubic feet for the inventory items that were on our list (not the other list) were not included in the cost estimate. This was our issue, they gave us an inventory list but failed to calculate the cubic feet for all the items which caused the price to go up. Since this was a mistake on their end, it should not cost us extra. We should have been given a clear estimate with all the cubic feet for each inventory item counted.
Ari said that a queen bed includes a headboard, mattress, box spring, & bed frame. Stephanie said that a queen bed only includes a mattress and bed frame. How do we get an accurate estimate if the workers convey different information? If the movers have a different inventory list than ours upon arrival there is already a problem.
My father in law has worked with several companies and never had this issue, he definitely did not understand where the extra $322 is coming from, and Stephanie just said the same thing over and over instead of helping to rectify the issue.
We asked for the manager multiple times, we were hung up on, and treated extremely unprofessionally. When we would call back, no one would answer. Our sales person Ari has not responded to any emails or calls. After being hung up on 5 times & treated extremely unprofessionally, one curse word was used and then apologized for.
No one has apologized for the internal mix up, and no one has offered to work with us.
I have attached the inventory list that I was given, detailing the headboard, mattress, and box spring that was left out of the movers inventory list. I told Ari that the headboard was metal so she listed it as metal bed frame. (An excuse was made by Stephanie that when something is in brackets it is not counted on the cubic feet, that Ari should have listed it in bullet points. Of course, me as the customer does not know that, and that is something any professional moving company should make sure to do thoroughly before making a sale). I had also told Ari that the dresser came with a small mirror, and she said that a "dresser" means a mirror comes with it, so it doesn't need to be detailed on the list. My Father in Law was on the phone as well and can attest to that. I had a very small foot rest ottoman that I asked the movers to put in only if there was extra room, I offered to take it out when they increased the price, along with my Christmas tree (that was on the inventory list) but they said that it doesn't make a difference, its still going to be $322 extra.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because
I’m going to start by saying excuse me for my many errors in my last statement. I would like to say, I carry myself as a professional at all times because of my Criminal Justice career; so in that being said I have no need to threaten anyone nor lie about being taking avenge of and never provided professional services. I am the customer and Beacon or van line are the business that provides services to customers. If I see something that isn’t correct or feel uneasy about your services I do have the right to report you. And as far as me writing the check it isn’t a CRIME to write a check and later stopping it because the business has fraudulent paperwork or like I stated before uneasy about something. And the only crime that was made was Beacon holding my belongings knowing they were paid for the job already moving it from [redacted] to [redacted]; you don’t do things like that to people because they feel uneasy about your services. I found out later that the $500.00 they were asking for was nothing I had to negotiate the $500.00 down to $250.00 to get my belongings and when I asked them what the payment was for they gonna tell me and my wife because when didn’t complete the job. My moving date was March *, 2015. So, before anything I made a down payment to lock my move in which was $293.00. When the movers come everything seemed okay at first until I saw the paperwork with two different business NAMES the driver was all over the place seemed nervous, but that’s my opinion. I went and seat to think and called the company to found out when my thinks will be delivered. [redacted] (the [redacted] said very nasty if I had $5000 dollars then my stuff will be delivered until then it take seven to ten business day for delivery. I asked him why will it take seven to ten business days (he said this is a long distance drive), I later found out they needed more shipments from other customers to make the on a 64 inch truck for the move. After I stopped payment for the check with my bank I called them (no answer) called again and again no answer so I left a message stating why I stop it and that Monday I called them again they never returned my call and paid a payment of $700.00 totaling $993.00. During the time of me locking the second payment I stated I wanted my things delivered on that Friday; their dispatcher said someone will call you on Wednesday (no never called) Friday came and went and by this time I told them I was coming to get my things because I had to wait until they got more deliver order in to make my deliver on Friday. By this time I made two trips to [redacted] and no one had no clue who I was when I showed up, these people were very nasty and threaten to throw my belongings away if they didn’t get their money. I even went to Linden Police department and they told me this is a civil matter. All I went is my money back.   [redacted]

[redacted] was never lied to and price was given prior to shipping, [redacted] loaded more items (furniture/boxes) to ship to [redacted] requested a delivery no earlier than 4 days of pick up (10/**/2015) and recived her items 7 days from date of pick up... The additional $400 was for...

additional items which [redacted] agreed to having! All phone calls are recorded!!!
[redacted] received her items with in 7 days requested and no damages at no time was Beacon ever advised that anyone was rude to her!
If any one of our Agents/Employees ever spoke to a customer in a demeanor way we would take the necessary actions!

I highly recommend that you do NOT do business with this company. I thought I was getting a deal with the price but would have gladly paid more for customer service and a confirmed delivery date. I've moved interstate several times and have never had such a horrible experience trying to confirm delivery of items. I requested a delivery date three weeks in advance of my anticipated move and after several attempts to get a response, was just told that the date I gave them was the "earliest" I can receive my items - it doesn't confirm a delivery date and they now have 21 days to deliver from the date I gave them. Now I have to extend my temporary living arrangements on top of the fact I've been paying for an apartment I'm not able to live in. There's no regards to the hardships they're causing (e.g., time off requests, additional appointments, etc.) and they're downright rude in their dealings. Unless you are desperate, I would not give them your business.

I am taking the time to write a review after receiving great support from a customer service representative, Tatiana, at Beacon Moving and Storage. While I have not yet received services (and hope that they are as great as my up front experience was!) I wanted to take a moment to recognize the professionalism, kindness and follow-through of the representative that I worked with to schedule my move. She was helpful, flexible, willing to work with me (and her supervisor, Joe) to ensure that the move operations met the specific needs I had and to ensure that they fell within the price range that I had. Moving is never easy and it's helpful to have a customer service representative that is easy to work with, friendly and doesn't make you feel like you're throwing away the little bit of money you have to spend on a move (when you have to make a multi-state move by yourself and need the help!)

[redacted] was picked up August ** 2016 we had a truck on the way down from NYC to Florida and we will pick it up on the way down to Miami Florida! [redacted] reserved this move on August ** 2016 3 days prior to pick, since truck was on the way down we explained to him...

that we needed to continue to  Miami Fl to finish all deliveries and we will load all other shipments coming back north and deliver him on the way up. We never at any time guranteed delivery September * 2016! [redacted] picked up from Jacksonville Fl on August ** 2016 on the way down to miami Fl !!!! He requested delivery no earlier than September * 2016! Also [redacted] had more items to move than what was told to us so his price escalated from $1047.00 to $1500.00 he was well aware and understood why! We at Beacon Moving always informed Mr. [redacted] about his delivery and truck status we always answered and responded to his phone calls and dispatch office works 7 days a week (extension 3) !
[redacted] was delivered last week September ** 2016, truck left Miami FL after Labor day September * 2016 had a couple of deliveries in Georgia North Carolina and picks up in North Carolina and Virginia and than went to Pennsylvanis we always explain to customers that all moves are consolidated with other shipments!
[redacted] was recommended to us from previous move we conducted as many other moves are recommended and we thrive to provide the best service we can! After all we all know that recommendations are the number one salesperson....

if Mr. [redacted] has legitimate claims for damages please email all pictures and letter describing all information to [redacted] and also cc to [redacted]!

unfortunately [redacted] is continuing to provide false information no one ever requested $5000 or used foul language or spoke to [redacted] in any disrespectful manner, this is a situation where a customer feels that he is allowed to take the law to his hand and do what ever he thinks. According to our lawyers it is a crime to put a stop on a check that was given in good faith, [redacted] has broken that agreement by putting a stop as soon as the check was given hoping that we will deliver prior to noticing that the check was stopped. [redacted] and his wife arrived to our facility using profound language and again using the kind of language that can be interpreted as a threat thinking maybe we are a small operation and have no legal advice and maybe we will be frightened. We have contacted the local police as well and if anything will transpire from [redacted] again they told us to contact them immediately. Now [redacted] feeling that he needs to get some pay back for his mistakes thinking maybe he needs to set up rules and everything needs to go according to what he thinks. We have laws and rules that we need to operate under and individuals should not be allowed to take advantage of that. We will like the Revdex.com to close this file, [redacted] should not be awarded any compensation....

It is understood about the additional items and the price of the contract I signed.  My point is their initial offer was $3.00 at my first estimate. All of this was not a huge deal if everything else went ok. As far as reassembly, they did NOT reassemble most of everything because they got into an argument, the police showed up and they were asked to leave! Do I need to get a copy of the police report? Thank you, [redacted]

Must read before hiring Beacon and Storage in NY - I was sold moving services under Beacon Moving and Storage in NY on [redacted]. They gave a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Admin ID number of DOT [redacted]. I later found out that number does not exist with the FMCSA. Beacon who also calls themselves [redacted] (another recognizable but false name) is just a front for a company with a bad reputation called AIA Movers DOT [redacted] Beacon had an A- Revdex.com rating according to their ads. I looked them up and they had a B+ which I still thought was good enough. However as stated Beacon is a cover for AIA which is the same company and has an F rating with the Revdex.com and several complaints. After they showed up at my house they rushed me through signing several pages of paperwork where they pointed out where to sign (i.e. for the 15K of insurance they advertised). They loaded my things and then insisted I pay them almost twice the quoted "fixed" rate stating that my furniture was "twice the size" they had allotted. I refused and when they would not remove my things from their truck I called the police. That's when they "negotiated" an additional $200 instead and quickly left. I was nervous the minute they left and asked that my things be delivered directly to the destination and not stored. I was told it'd be about a week. They showed up without warning in my new state 48 hours later insisting that if I was not prepared for delivery they would put everything in storage at my expense and I would not get my things until I paid them and the storage company. I was still in the state where they left me fixing the damage they had done to my house. After driving all night with my 6 month old infant in the back 2 days later to get there asap they didn't show up until 5 days later. The driver collected the money and made me "sign for the delivery" before he even let me see my things. As soon as I saw my belongings it was obvious they had done extensive damage. They also lost several items. They refused to give me any paperwork noting the delivery and allowing me to write that there had been loss/damage. They sent me an email instead stating that I paid and all items had been delivered which was a lie. During the entire ordeal they kept telling me I can submit a claim for any damage and be reimbursed up to 15K. I complained to "Beacon" with no response. Then when I submitted the claim I found out they had me sign a waiver for replacement value and instead had me initial for a calculation of loss or damage value. This calculation made my entire shipment of approximately $8,000 worth about $500 according to their insurance calculation. I also discovered that on the packing slip they had covered up their description of my items as broken and damaged with stickers numbering my items before asking me to sign. So I never saw those notations. At first their insurer [redacted] who also needs to be investigated for their participation in this fraud, denied my nearly $4000 claim because I had not provided delivery paperwork (which AIA had refused to give me) and said I did not have corroboration from AIA that they were the ones that damaged or lost my things. When I threatened to report Anthem to the Attny General of their state they immediately got back to me with an offer of $267 which is what they say I agreed to by signing where the mover told me I was signing for the 15K in insurance. I should have understood what I was signing yes but unfortunately I trusted the lying mover. So I have nearly everything I shipped torn, chipped, broken or missing, so much so that any reasonable person would conclude they did as much damage as they could on purpose without instigating a police report. My washing machine and portable air conditioner alone cost me $1300 to replace. I reported this scam to the FMCSA but as you would expect - no follow up. I really hope these scam artists are not allowed to get away with this any longer. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY OR YOUR BELONGINGS. If you do after reading this you deserve whatever they have in store for you.

[redacted] received service to move from MA to TN she called on 1/**/2016 and requested for her furniture to be delivered after one month of being in storage. We explained that it could take upto 10 business days to deliver as its stated in the emails that were sent to her before leaving...

a deposit. When shipment was loaded [redacted] received and email that the shipment should arrive Saturday or Sunday 1/**-**/2016, and that driver will call her 24 hours prior to delivery. We did get a phone call from [redacted] asking where her shipment is, we explained that its been loaded and should arrive between 2/* and 2/*. [redacted] explained that she needs to leave town and wont be back till 2/**/2016. We decided to unload the shipment from the trailer and only because our dispatcher did email [redacted] dates.. We unloaded everything into storage and reloaded the following week for delivery, [redacted] was very upset at the fact that she didn't receive her shipment 1/**-**/2016! If there is any damages we haven't received  any information (please email all damages to [redacted] and it will be handled promptly). Regarding the long carry it was emailed and explained on pick that we need to haul everything with 53 foot trucks and [redacted] signed and agreed that there is access to a 53 foot truck (signed on the long distance information sheet)...
[redacted] total estimate $962.50
Total Move paid $1050.00 /  plus ($150) the additional service we needed to perform to complete delivery!

I signed up with this company to move me from ** to **. Worst decision of my life. At first they said it will take 5-7 days to have the merchandise at the new address. It is now 17 days later and no word from this company. I have called almost everyday and email and I'm still waiting to hear from a manager. I get the run around and no one can tell me where the truck is. They provide you with a tracking phone number and when I called it took me in circles and still no idea where my things are. They are unprofessional, useless liars. Then they have the nerve to want to demand cash for the final payment. Good luck. DO YOUR RESEARCH because had I done mine I wouldn't be here writing this review. Very poor customer service. 17 days later and I'm still waiting for my things. I had to go out and buy clothes, pots and pan. Please don't give them your business unless you have no use for your money. Take your chances with a [redacted]. They quoted me $945 and at the end it was $1575. That's the cost of trying to save money on important things. They are the WORST.

[redacted] gave us a bad check which later we found out that he put a stop payment on, we called to explain that we need a payment to continue services which than [redacted] a few days later gave us a CC over the phone. After payment was done not even for half of the service [redacted] started to be...

very rude and stated that his delivery is late we explained to him that since he stop the payment on his check (which he at that beginning said that he didn't know why check returned) the shipment first was not loaded on the truck and second we have a 7 day window once check is half of the payment is made!.  [redacted] started using profound language and being very rude, he also actually tried to threatened us, [redacted] later stated that he wants to pick up his furniture and not continue the service, we explained to him that the fee to retrieve his furniture is additional $500 to the money already paid. At the end we agreed to $250 additional. We picked up the furniture from ** to [redacted] broke the contract first when he cancelled the check (which is criminal) than also threatening us and last putting this false accusation on the Revdex.com where have done nothing wrong ! [redacted] is very rude and misinterpreting everything we offer no compensation at all!We have all documentation if needed we will upload all information!

Horrible service... We where waiting 3 days for a delivery .
Called number servers mail times no response .
Driver required cash payment before unloading.
Do not use it!!!!

this could have been handled a long time and finished with, and obviously [redacted] is not complying all [redacted] is doing is avoiding our phone calls to resolve this matter... Now he wishes this via email only I need the Revdex.com to closed this claim. For there is nothing that we can do anymore ! we made 2 attempts to deliver his items endless phone calls and nothing seems to work. [redacted] is playing games and doesnt want to finish this ordeal! Please close this CLAIM!!!!!!

We never said we will hold her ([redacted]) furniture for 21 business days! ** [redacted] requested an earliest delivery date of 7/*/2014 we delivered 7/**/2014 we explained that we have up to 7 days to deliver her furniture, which we explained prior to loading even...

when [redacted] made the reservation !!! We were never rude to [redacted] we thank her for giving us the business but at the same time we have a window for deliveries ! she had a relatively small job and it needed to be consolidated to GA !
