Beacon Moving & Storage Reviews (161)

Review: This is what I wrote to the moving Co they have not returned any of our calls. [redacted] is the order number. We have not received a call back and I have left several messages, my father's delivery from NYC to CA did not have his sofa. I do not understand how your business is done, stealing from a 79 year old man, is despicable. If I do not get a call back of the where about of his sofa I will take further action with the Revdex.com and Consumers Affairs and explain to the them how your moving company does business. The number here is ###-###-#### or ###-###-#### or ###-###-####. They have a gimmick they never told my father or me that they were going over charge him to move his stuff from one truck to another and he had to pay an additional 400.00 to the truck driver.Desired Settlement: I want my father's sofa back or a full reimbursement there of. Dishes were also busted but we don't care at this point about that.

Review: I scheduled a move with Beacon Moving and Storage and was made a lot of promises that were not kept. I was deal with [redacted], the Sales Representative. He started out as a really nice guy, but I was soon convinced that all he wanted was my money and then everything changed. I have a contract that says the moving company was supposed to arrive on 4/**/14 (Saturday) between the hours of 9am and 11am. The called me the day before and wanted to change the move day to 4/**/14 (Sunday). I could not do this because I had work on Sunday and I had to be out of my apartment. They blamed me for not being understanding and so the movers did not arrive until 7:30 PM on Saturday night. I was told 3-4 workers would be there, but only two showed up. My father and I stayed up all night with the two movers. They didn't leave until 7:00am on Sunday morning. I was promised that I would not have to lift a finger during my move, however, my dad and I moved all of my furniture out to the truck, took apart all my own furniture, and then put it all on the truck. Why did I hire a moving company if I had to do it all myself? They charged me $250 to pack five boxes, in which they used MY boxes, MY bubble wrap, and MY tape. They also made me do all of the mover's paperwork. He handed me the clipboard and made me do everything for him. I don't work for the company and I'm not a mover...I had no idea what I was doing, but he made me do it on top of all the moving I did. The only thing the movers did was wrap my furniture, pack 5 boxes, and stand in the truck while my dad and I moved everything to the truck. Then they charged me for an extra stop because I had an office with some boxes. [redacted] told me that this stop would be free, but they charged me. My belongings, as stated in my contract, were supposed to arrive on Saturday, 5/*/14. However, they never showed. So when I called, they said that my stuff would take an extra week.

The whole time, I could never get ahold of anyone at the company. I can't tell you how many times I tried to call Beacon, and the company they hired to move my stuff, but no one would answer. When someone did answer on the rare occasion, they would juste pass me off to the secondary company and never wanted to handle my situation. I sent an email to [redacted] at Beacon and he only responded with it's my fault I would not let the movers come on Sunday, so I just had to deal with the consequences. I scheduled this move 4 months early and it's in my contract for a certain day and time, but it's my fault that the movers wanted to change the date and time a day before my scheduled pickup?

When my belongings finally did arrive, I had multiple damages because the two movers put packing tape along a lot of my furniture. It ripped up paint and the finish of the wood. I have pictures, but no one is returning my calls or emails from Beacon to settle these differences. They have their money, because they wouldn't unload or transport my things unless I paid them. So now that they have their money, they don't want to deal with me anymore.

I hope there is something you can do because they have completely violated my contract and service agreement, all while taking more money than I was quoted.Desired Settlement: I want money taken off my bill because I had to do the work of the movers at the tim elf pickup when I was promised I wouldn't have to do anything. I did most of the moving and they made me do all of the mover's paperwork. I also would like a reimbursement for the damages to my furniture pieces.

Complaint#[redacted]

[redacted] was notified that we had a delay and that we will be arriving late 4/**/2014 (Saturday) we asked him if its okay to pushed the move to Sunday (4/**/2014) he told us its not possible and that he we have to come no matter what time. Please understand that sometimes we have no control other moves and deliveries that take place prior to other moves. We explained to [redacted] that we will come and do our best, even though it was not the best thing to do start a move so late also we were not able to get anymore labor at that time of the day. [redacted] (father and son) decided upon them selves to help the crew load we never asked them to do so. After the move finished I spoke to [redacted] and understood his aggravation but at the same time he also understood our delay. After all we decided to give [redacted] an additional discount of $780.00 which resolved any inconvenience. [redacted] can always reach us at our multiple numbers so im not really sure why he says he cant reach us, I [redacted] spoke to him about 5 times! Regarding all damages please send me all pictures and letter explaining and I will personally make sure that the insurance company will do their job. I was never contacted via phone or e-mail about damages/claim to [redacted] furniture. A refund was already given for delay and inconvenience and if there is other damages we need to compensate we will.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I had things in my contract that were not kept. My delivery date was suppose to be on 5/*/2014 or 5/*/2013. The delivery was not made until 5/*/2014. I never had constant contact with Beacon or my driver like I was promised. I could provide phone records to show how many times I tried to call Beacon and no one would answer their phones. I was also promised by four separate people in customer service that I would receive a call back from [redacted] or [redacted], but I never received those calls. I only talked to [redacted] twice. Once to give my formal complaint, which he then had me email to him on 4/**/2014. The next time I talked to him was about a week later when my delivery was not delivered. He proceeded to tell me that there was nothing he could do about the pick up being late because it was my fault that I could not push my pick up date back. How can it be my fault if my contract (which was formed on January [redacted], 2014), states that my pick up date and time should Saturday 4/** between 9-11 am? This is not my fault. I received horrible customer service all because Beacon wanted to not follow what my contract said. This was not my fault.

In regards to the $798 being taken off my bill; the [redacted] at All Inclusive Transport informed me that this was because his movers had miscalculated the cubic feet and the cost of materials in the "partial pack" portion of my contract. This was in no way an attempt to take money off my bill for the inconvenience of this entire situation.

Also, I did not voluntarily do all the work for the movers. I was handed a clip board and told to follow him and do his paperwork. The movers showed up at 7:30pm and with only two workers. They said they needed help because they weren't able to pick up any extra workers. I did say, since it was so late that I wouldn't mind helping them get organized, but for some reason they took that as I would do all their work while they stood in the truck and wrapped furniture.

What it comes down to is I had a contract that was violated. Beacon made a lot of promises they did not keep. And instead of working with me and trying to come to a solution, all they did was pawn me off to the company they contracted from Las Vegas (All Inclusive Transport).

Response:

I never said that its [redacted] fault arriving late on Saturday we acknowledged the possibility that we will be late and informed [redacted] 2 days prior to the moving date. Again we really had no control of a delivery that we had to get off the truck in order to accommodate [redacted] pick up! Regarding the discount I will look into it again I was told by one of the [redacted] in our West Coat department, I ([redacted]) have spoken to [redacted] a few times definitely more than 2. We usually dont like to start the move so late but [redacted] had no other choice he had to get his furniture out that same day and we couldn't get more labor that late in the day... again we apologize for inconveniencing [redacted] !

Review: I booked a move from Boston to Nashville with Beacon Moving. They picked up on December [redacted] and were holding my stuff in storage up until the [redacted] of January under the contracted price. Starting on Friday January [redacted] I sent the required email out to release my stuff from storage and send it on down to Nashville. They told me once I did that it would take 4-5 days to arrive. I called the following Monday to inquire about the location of my shipment and was told it did not go out yet. I was told they had no idea when it was going to be sent and that they would call me the next day with more information. I had to call them the following day and I got an answer that it would leave the storage facility Thursday or Friday of that week so the [redacted] or the [redacted] and arrive Saturday or Sunday the [redacted] or [redacted]. I left Mass on the [redacted] and started my drive down to Tennessee. They never contacted me Thursday or Friday like they said they would. I called Friday evening and was unable to get in touch with anyone and therefore left a message. I had to call back again on Saturday when I arrived in Tennessee only to find out the truck still had not left MA yet and would not leave till sometime the following week. I had a CONFIRMATION EMAIL stating I would receive my shipment on the [redacted] or [redacted] and I made sure to confirm that with them because I was going out of town on February [redacted] till the [redacted] that was already a planned trip. They then held my stuff while I was out of town but in the meantime I tried to schedule delivery for the day I was back in town which was Wednesday the [redacted]. They were rude to my father and I and had me resend the email for the date which I would have liked to receive the shipment which was the [redacted]. The email policy they have in place is useless because they told us they were still not sure when they could send it as I was sharing a truck with other deliveries. After numerous phone calls to them they finally said my stuff would leave MA on Monday February [redacted]. I got a call on Wednesday from the driver saying my stuff would arrive Thursday morning between 8 and 10am which it did but the truck was too large to get near my building so I had to pay an extra $150 for long hauling in addition to the balance I owed them. They started bringing in my stuff and things were broken and damaged. Also, somehow they were missing the legs to my kitchen table so they were unable to put it together so now I am left with no kitchen table and will have to go buy another one after I paid to have it moved! I have been calling the sales manager and leaving messages as this has been an absolute nightmare dealing with them and he has yet to return my calls and at this point I don't believe they will since they already received my money.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for my damaged and missing stuff. It is unacceptable what I paid for this whole ordeal and the additional expenses on top of that for having to wait for my stuff. This company did not follow through with anything on their end and they were either rude or just impossible to get a hold of.

[redacted] received service to move from MA to TN she called on 1/**/2016 and requested for her furniture to be delivered after one month of being in storage. We explained that it could take upto 10 business days to deliver as its stated in the emails that were sent to her before leaving a deposit. When shipment was loaded [redacted] received and email that the shipment should arrive Saturday or Sunday 1/**-**/2016, and that driver will call her 24 hours prior to delivery. We did get a phone call from [redacted] asking where her shipment is, we explained that its been loaded and should arrive between 2/* and 2/*. [redacted] explained that she needs to leave town and wont be back till 2/**/2016. We decided to unload the shipment from the trailer and only because our dispatcher did email [redacted] dates.. We unloaded everything into storage and reloaded the following week for delivery, [redacted] was very upset at the fact that she didn't receive her shipment 1/**-**/2016! I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

When I initially called Beacon Moving and dispatch back in mid Janurary to find out how long it would take to send my stuff to Nashville, the woman said 4-5 days. She said for example if I wanted it delivered on Monday to send out the email on Thursday. I sent out the email on Friday so I was hoping for delivery on Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. When I called that Monday (January [redacted]) the woman said she had mixed me up with someone else with the same last name and they hadn't sent out my shipment due to that and the weather. She finally got back to me saying the shipment would leave Thursday or Friday and arrive Saturday the [redacted] or the [redacted]. I had every right to be angry that my shipment not only didn't arrive but hadn't even left Mass yet. In addition to being promised delivery, this company neglected to let me know that my shipment hadn't left MA yet and when calling that Saturday all they could tell me was that the truck was leaving sometime next week. I was already scheduled to be out of town the following week which is why I asked her over the phone are you absolutely sure the shipment will arrive Saturday the [redacted] or Sunday the [redacted] and she said YES. After this no effort on their part was made to arrange for my shipment to be in transit while I was out of town and delivered upon my return. I did not receive my shipment until 8 days after I was back in Nashville. When the delivery actually came the driver said he always drives through Nashville and was here a couple of times within the last 2 weeks. Upon bringing my stuff in the unit I began to notice that most of my stuff was damaged and the legs of my table were missing making the table completely non usable. The driver attempted to call the original guy who packaged up my things in my old home to find out if he knew where the table legs were. I remember the guys wrapping them up in a blanket when they were taking the table apart. I believe somehow this item did not get tagged with my information on it and therefore got lost. I filled out the paperwork claiming the damages and the missing table legs with the delivery driver and I called Beacon Moving and left a message on the managers voicemail, which he failed to return the call. This had happened to me a few times dealing with them. It is difficult to get anyone in charge on the phone or to return phone calls. I would like compensation for my damaged and unusable items. I hope this company does the right thing and resolves this situation.

Review: On 12/*/15, I contacted Beacon Moving & Storage ([redacted]) regarding a move from Boston, MA to Clovis, CA. I spoke to Joe who scheduled this move and gave me an order number (#[redacted]) and an estimate for $1,200 for the move as well as an estimated 2-3 weeks of delivery time. Confirmation e-mail was sent to me and is attached here. The pick-up of the items (34 items in total, 1 full size Tempurpedic box spring, 1 full size Tempurpedic mattress, 2 plastic bins, 3 pictures, and 27 boxes) that were to be moved was scheduled for 12/**/15.

Beacon called me on 12/**/15 to reschedule the pick-up of items for 12/**/15. This was agreed upon.

Movers came on 12/**/15 to pick up said items. The pick-up of items went without incident. This writer was present for the pick-up and witnessed the movers take all needed items, but specifically the full sized Tempurpedic mattress and Tempurpedic box spring, and stow it in their moving truck. The movers made note of all items that were taken from my apartment to the truck. Items were given stickers, and I was charged an extra $300 due to weight/space issues. The itemized paperwork is attached here.

On 12/**/15, I e-mailed Beacon Moving & Storage’s tracking e-mail address ([redacted]) to receive a tracking update on my shipment. I never received a response. (This e-mail is attached)

During the beginning of January, I called Beacon on a weekly basis and was given a number of different days for delivery.

On 1/**/16, upon removing all items from the truck, this writer opened up black and clear plastic wrapping around the mattress and box spring (which were not put on my original mattress/box spring) to find it was a different brand of mattress and box spring. In addition to it being a different brand, it was also a different size. The Tempurpedic mattress/box spring that were sent from Boston were both Full size while the mattress and box spring delivered to Clovis, CA were Queen size.

This writer informed the drivers of this. The drivers had this writer make note of this on the receipt, but refused to take the mattress/box spring with them as they left. In addition the drivers called Beacon but were unable to reach anyone due to the time difference. The incorrect mattress/box spring were left at this writer's residence.

On 1/**/16, this writer contacted Lucy from Beacon. Lucy stated she would call the drivers and schedule a time for the drivers to pick-up the box-spring and mattress from my location in Clovis, CA. Lucy also stated she would need to look into locating my Tempurpedic mattress and box spring so it could be delivered to my location. Lucy stated she would call me back. Lucy never called back.

On 1/**/16, I called Beacon and asked to speak to a manager, I was told the managers were busy but was instructed to take pictures of the mattress and box-spring and e-mail them to Beacon's claim department ([redacted]) and that I would get a call back. I took pictures (attached to this packed), but never heard back.

On 1/**/16, I called Beacon to receive an update on the pick-up of the mattress/box-spring and delivery of my personal Tempurpedic mattress/box-spring. I was told all the managers were on lunch and they would return my call. I left two numbers, a cell phone and a landline phone to reach me. I never received a phone call.

On 1/**/16, I called Beacon to get an update as I had received complaints from neighbors regarding the mattress and box spring on the front porch of the house. I was told managers were out to lunch but would return the call. I emphasized that I needed to know what the status was and that I understood it wasn't a simple fix, but that I hadn't even received calls back. The representative stated I would get a call back that day. I never got a call back.

On 1/**/16, I called to speak to Joe, my initial contact for the order that was placed. No answer to his phone was made and a message was left. At this point the homeowner’s association has called and complained regarding the mattress on the front porch.

On Tuesday, 1/**/16 I called Beacon and spoke to Mike who stated they were still in the process of contacting every other delivery that was made on the route from Boston, MA to Clovis, CA to deliver my items. I was asked to call back on Friday at which point they would know more.

On Friday, 1/** I called Beacon’s dispatch number that was given to me by Mike and could not get hold of a live person. I left a message.

On Tuesday 2/*/16, I called Beacon yet again. I left a message in the customer service voicemail. I called back and spoke to a customer service rep. who then transferred me to Joe, who I initially made the order with. Joe told me that he thought this had all been resolved and put me on hold, when I was again transferred back to a customer service rep. She informed me that there was no actual evidence of any problem with the delivery so there were no grounds for any reimbursement of the items.

Later in the day on 2/*/16, I received an e-mail from Beacon’s claim department ([redacted]) with the address to send all necessary legal paperwork. In addition it stated that due to there being no evidence of any issues with the incorrect mattress being delivered that no action would be taken on their part. This e-mail is attached here.

In summary, I placed an order for Beacon Moving & Storage to pick up my items from my former residence in Boston, MA. On 12/**/15 I witnessed my items (specifically a Full Size Tempurpedic mattress and box spring, purchased for $1358.99). On 1/**/16, the moving company delivered my items to my new location in Clovis, CA. A Queen Size mattress and box spring from a different manufacturer were packaged in plastic wrapping. I contacted Beacon Moving & Storage numerous times over the next two weeks; during which times my phone calls were never returned. Upon finally getting hold of a customer service agent, I was informed that no action was going to be taken because there was no proof that this was the wrong mattress or wrong box spring.Desired Settlement: Ideally Beacon Moving & Storage would refund me the amount that my missing box spring and mattress cost ($1358.99) as both items are still within warranty and would have been able to be replaced if I had an issue with them. However, if this is unable to be accomplished, a refund of a portion of my total moving cost ($1,550.00).

Response:

[redacted], we have spoken to [redacted] on many occasions and are aware of his complaint..We have made all attempts to see if by any chance any one else received a different mattress, we label everything and the mattress delivered to [redacted] has/had his name and information. [redacted] claims something that is hard to solve. One because his name was on those mattresses, second we have contacted every possible customer that was consolidated with his shipment on pick up and delivery and checked every corner in our terminal in Linden NJ! We have contacted the claim and explained the situation and they informed us that there is nothing to do because of the fact that he did receive mattress and box spring with his name on it....And for the note we have contacted [redacted] numerous times its not like we never called him back!He is very welcome to call us back from 9 to 6 at ###-###-#### somebody will always pick up and attend his issues but they have to hold ground we move approximately 500 people a month and this situation is fairly odd!

Horrible service... We where waiting 3 days for a delivery .

Called number servers mail times no response .

Driver required cash payment before unloading.

Do not use it!!!!

I have moved with Beacon moving from Florida to NYC I must say they were very professional and took care of my items. They delivered with in 7 days of pick up. I will definitely recommend this company to my family and friends.

Review: In June I contacted Beacon Moving and Storage to move my belongings from Pennsylania to Colorado.

On June [redacted] the pick-up driver, George, called me at 11 p.m. to verify pickup time of 10 a.m. on July 1. I was angry because the time I requested for pickup was 1 p.m. as I had to work that morning. On July 1, George, who spoke broken English and his two helpers who spoke none, arrived two hours late. They proceeded to load things into the truck with roughness that I didn't appreciate. Things were packed that shouldn't have gone on their truck THE ROUTER FROM MY DESK, things were left INCLUDING APPROXIMATELY HALF OF MY KITCHEN ITEMS AND ONE STEREO SPEAKER!

On July *, I had prepaid reservations in Knoxville, TN, provided I left on time (by 1 p.m.), but I had to return to the PA site to remove the items out of the cabinets that George and his crew failed to pack!

On August [redacted] I called Beacon Moving and Storage to have my goods delivered on the [redacted]. At that point, I was told by tracking services to email my request, which I did, along with information that my brother was coming to Colorado to receive goods from my delivery. NO ONE FROM BEACON HAD THE COURTESY TO CONTACT ME REGARDING THE ACTUAL DELIVERY DATE UNTIL THE NIGHT BEFORE!

When the delivery driver arrived, I was upset already because it took 2 weeks for Beacon to get my belongings here. As my belongings were being unloaded, I was getting more and more upset because EVERY BOX HAD EITHER BEEN CRUSHED OR HAD DAMAGED! Two pole lamps have been bent and are unusable in their present condition; lids from totes have been totally destroyed; a 150 year old antique mirror was dropped by the delivery driver and totally shattered and the frame broken. The driver refused to let me remove the blanket and bubble wrap to inspect the total damage. Upon the removal of wrappings, my son and I discovered that the frame was also broken. After the driver left, my son and I went to assemble my bed, our next surprise! MY BOX SPRING AND MATTRESS WERE NEVER DELIVERED!!!

The kitchen items left in PA and the mattress and box spring are going to be replaced. The mirror is going to have to be restored as it is a custom piece.

I have contacted my insurance company regardiong the property damages, but because it was in transit and/or out of my possession, is not covered on my policy.

I have sent Joe C[redacted], my contract and contact person at Beacon, an email with pictures of all damages. However there were other expenses incurred because of George and his crew during loading as well as the delivery damages. I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM MR. C[redacted]!!!

I am prepared to post pictures to social media of the damages incurred by Beacon Moving and Storage.Desired Settlement: IT IS MY DESIRE TO HAVE A FULL REFUND FOR THIS MOVE, ASWELL AS RESTITUTION FOR THE EXPENSES INCURRED (including 2 separate hotels on July *) BY BEACON MOVING AND STORAGE'S CREWS.

Sincerely,

I admit it has been 2 months (February 2015) since we used Beacon Moving but the experience left such a positive impact on me I decided to write a review.

From the quote stage through to the arrival of our goods in Colorado the we always felt clear on the process and at what stage we were.

I have heard many a horror story from friends about the move home but my experience using Beacon Moving was excellent (with no lost, broken or damaged goods).

Review: This company has put me and my wife though hell because I stop a check, knowing that their driver was asking for more money. But what really started it was me stop a check because the email they sent me stated 35% on second payment which means money order, check or cash. 03/**/2015 was our moving date they came picked up all my belonging during them packing my belongings I called the office to find out when will my stuff be delivered, when I got someone on the phone milk or [redacted] was very nasty saying if I want my stuff delivered I have to pay $5000 to get my belongings delivered, upon them finishing the job the driver handed me alot of paperwork which he didn't spoke proper English and didn't know how to spell or add,.during me signing the paperwork I stated twice, I have to give you 35% now and the rest upon deliver, he said no 50% and 50% when delivered. Third I wrote the check out for $975.00 then called the company two to three times when they left with my belongings. No one answered so I left a message stated I put a stop payment on the check. No one never called me I called them that Monday stated I stop the check and pay $700.00 for it to be delivered Friday. After making the payment Luce the dispatcher stated someone will contact me by Wednesday or 24 to 72 hr.No one never called I called them everyday until I told since no one can tell me when my belongings will be delivered knowing I said Friday because I do work this is when the he'll continued. Fourth II've. Called many times asking when it will be delivered no answers so that Saturday I came all the way for [redacted] to get my belongings after arguing with everyone over the phone because they weren't going to deliver my belongings on Friday they were going to deliver it when they wanted so I told them to not deliver my stuff and I was coming to get they told me $500.00 to get my belongings I said no and showed up that Saturday when I showed up in linden n.j no one had no clue who I was knowing I said I was coming then they said $500.00 for you belongings again me and sister went to the local police and they stated it's a civil matter knowing I was threatened and even stated my times to get a lawyer if I want my things. Thesaurus people continued to be very nasty and I have done nothing to them besides stop a check. After being unsuccessful for the first time I went back to [redacted] without my belongings. Five I had to talk them down the price for not delivering my belongings for $500.00 to $250.00 for doing nothing. After all the arguing and back and Fourth for two to three weeks I had to pay the $250.00 for doing nothing.Desired Settlement: $250.00

Response:

[redacted] gave us a bad check which later we found out that he put a stop payment on, we called to explain that we need a payment to continue services which than [redacted] a few days later gave us a CC over the phone. After payment was done not even for half of the service [redacted] started to be very rude and stated that his delivery is late we explained to him that since he stop the payment on his check (which he at that beginning said that he didn't know why check returned) the shipment first was not loaded on the truck and second we have a 7 day window once check is half of the payment is made!. [redacted] started using profound language and being very rude, he also actually tried to threatened us, [redacted] later stated that he wants to pick up his furniture and not continue the service, we explained to him that the fee to retrieve his furniture is additional $500 to the money already paid. At the end we agreed to $250 additional. We picked up the furniture from ** to [redacted] broke the contract first when he cancelled the check (which is criminal) than also threatening us and last putting this false accusation on the Revdex.com where have done nothing wrong ! [redacted] is very rude and misinterpreting everything we offer no compensation at all!We have all documentation if needed we will upload all information!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because I’m going to start by saying excuse me for my many errors in my last statement. I would like to say, I carry myself as a professional at all times because of my Criminal Justice career; so in that being said I have no need to threaten anyone nor lie about being taking avenge of and never provided professional services. I am the customer and Beacon or van line are the business that provides services to customers. If I see something that isn’t correct or feel uneasy about your services I do have the right to report you. And as far as me writing the check it isn’t a CRIME to write a check and later stopping it because the business has fraudulent paperwork or like I stated before uneasy about something. And the only crime that was made was Beacon holding my belongings knowing they were paid for the job already moving it from [redacted] to [redacted]; you don’t do things like that to people because they feel uneasy about your services. I found out later that the $500.00 they were asking for was nothing I had to negotiate the $500.00 down to $250.00 to get my belongings and when I asked them what the payment was for they gonna tell me and my wife because when didn’t complete the job. My moving date was March *, 2015. So, before anything I made a down payment to lock my move in which was $293.00. When the movers come everything seemed okay at first until I saw the paperwork with two different business NAMES the driver was all over the place seemed nervous, but that’s my opinion. I went and seat to think and called the company to found out when my thinks will be delivered. [redacted] (the [redacted] said very nasty if I had $5000 dollars then my stuff will be delivered until then it take seven to ten business day for delivery. I asked him why will it take seven to ten business days (he said this is a long distance drive), I later found out they needed more shipments from other customers to make the on a 64 inch truck for the move. After I stopped payment for the check with my bank I called them (no answer) called again and again no answer so I left a message stating why I stop it and that Monday I called them again they never returned my call and paid a payment of $700.00 totaling $993.00. During the time of me locking the second payment I stated I wanted my things delivered on that Friday; their dispatcher said someone will call you on Wednesday (no never called) Friday came and went and by this time I told them I was coming to get my things because I had to wait until they got more deliver order in to make my deliver on Friday. By this time I made two trips to [redacted] and no one had no clue who I was when I showed up, these people were very nasty and threaten to throw my belongings away if they didn’t get their money. I even went to Linden Police department and they told me this is a civil matter. All I went is my money back. [redacted]

Response:

unfortunately [redacted] is continuing to provide false information no one ever requested $5000 or used foul language or spoke to [redacted] in any disrespectful manner, this is a situation where a customer feels that he is allowed to take the law to his hand and do what ever he thinks. According to our lawyers it is a crime to put a stop on a check that was given in good faith, [redacted] has broken that agreement by putting a stop as soon as the check was given hoping that we will deliver prior to noticing that the check was stopped. [redacted] and his wife arrived to our facility using profound language and again using the kind of language that can be interpreted as a threat thinking maybe we are a small operation and have no legal advice and maybe we will be frightened. We have contacted the local police as well and if anything will transpire from [redacted] again they told us to contact them immediately. Now [redacted] feeling that he needs to get some pay back for his mistakes thinking maybe he needs to set up rules and everything needs to go according to what he thinks. We have laws and rules that we need to operate under and individuals should not be allowed to take advantage of that. We will like the Revdex.com to close this file, [redacted] should not be awarded any compensation....

Review: I hired this moving company because someone gave them a good reference I had been racking my brains on a reputable moving company since I was moving 2800. Miles away. Everything went smoothly on the pick up but after that it turned into a nightmare they brought my stuff on a 18 wheeler and told me they could not get down my city street which they knew was a city they said they would have to come back tomorrow that they would have to transfer my belongings onto a smaller truck well they didn't come the next day it turned into 8 days And when I called everyday they said they would call me back which they never did I had to call them every day and everyday they had an excuse beacon told me to contact the [redacted] and the [redacted] told me to call the driver and when I did the driver was very nasty to me even hanging up on me what a way to run a buisness. When they finally told me when they were coming they never told me how much addition they were going to charge me I took days off from work waiting for them which meant loss of money especially on a new job . I was treated horribly and when my stuff did come. There were stuff that was damaged also pleases help me so know one else has to go through the ordeal that I did. Sincerely [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimembersed. The extra $250.00 that they failed to tell me about. Countless days that I couldn't go to work because they told me they were coming Which left me short on my rent because they were not going to give me my belongings if I didn't pay them.

This company is the absolute worst and would NEVER recommend them. They should be shut down. They are liars and run a scam operation. Both Joe and Brian are horrible. They talk down to people, do not return a phone call and they do not respond to an email. no person should ever have to go through what I went through with them

Review: Hired this company to move my household furniture / items from the Florida panhandle to southern IL., they required a third of the total fee up front and I was promised they would pick up by 07/**/2014, the day before on 07/**/2014 [redacted] ( [redacted] ) called to advise that the truck broke down and it looked to be Friday 08/**/2014, on 08/**/2014 he called to say it was going to 08/**/14 or 08/**/14, when he later advised (still 08/**/2014) it would be 08/**/2014. Called the college my daughter was to attend 08/**/2014 and they advised that the 08/**/2014 orientation was mandatory or she would not be allowed in the program if missed. I then called [redacted] back 08/**/2014 late afternoon but he had left for the day so I advised the dispatch dept. that I could not live with that date, that I would have to do something else and to refund the down payment I had already giving them. I also called and talked to [redacted] on 08/**/2014 along with the truck driver they were sending my way for pick up 08/**/2014 and left message on [redacted]s direct line. [redacted] called while I was in route to IL. 08/**/2014 to yell at me for the inconvenience I caused him. It has been 3 weeks, I have called almost everyday, [redacted] does not answer or return my phone calls, I also have asked to speak with [redacted] who supposedly is another [redacted], I have been put on hold for over ten min. at a time just to be told neither are available, I have been very persistent with my efforts, just feel I am getting the run around.Desired Settlement: I just want my refund, Beacon provided no service for me and was not able to meet the agreed move date in the contract.

Yes the business contacted me as to the truck problem they were having and yes they were to make arrangements for another truck, which any good business should do, as stated they were to be there 7/**/2014, 08/**/2014 I could have lived with, on 08/**/2014 I was contacted that it was going to be 08/**/2014, which I notified them on 08/**/2014 that I could not live with that and I would have to make other arrangements, and to refund my deposit, I too have not escaped additional expenses because of this situation.

Review: They took advantage of a 85 year old woman on a fixed income traumatized already by having to moving to be with family because she could no longer support herself. The "BINDING - Not to Exceed Estimate was $2,548. I received a call this moving that said upon deliver they wanted an additional $2000 above the money I already paid bringing the cost to 4,548 with NO details regarding the reason. Both the sales man, [redacted], or the home office in Brooklyn NY were responsive to phone calls seeking an explanation. The amount doesn't reach the threshold for police involvement - although they have been informed in Brooklyn, Las Vegas, and Virginia. Greetings:

Please be advised that we provide Beacon Moving and Storage (hereafter referred to as ''Beacon") with support in responding to Revdex.com elaims. This complaint is very important to Beacon and is not being ignored.

We respectfully disagree with Ms. [redacted]'s claim. Moreover we find that it is particularly defamatory to Beacon. While it is true that Ms. [redacted] was quoted a priee of $2548 for her move that is where the truth ends. Ms. [redacted] was charged $3200 (reduced upon delivery from $3700 which along with other charges are within 10% of her estimate) for her move and NOT $4548 as she stated in her dispute. The $3200 was communicated to her upon pick up not as a phone call. She agreed to pay the $3700 which was later reduced to $3200. The additional charge covered a few extra pieces that were not covered in her original estimate,

the extra cubic feet, and it also covered the use of packing materials that were not covered in her original estimate. Ms. [redacted] was advised prior to agreeing to the estimate that there could be additional charges for any additional items and that "Full Service Relocations Does Not Included: ... Packing and crating services not listed within proposal; Packing supplies & packing services (unless requested and a fee has been added)."

What is particularly troubling is that at the end of her move, Ms. [redacted] Rated her moving experience as a

"10" across the board. She stated that the movers "were very polite and friendly," and that the overall service

was a "10"

Again from her own comments in favor of her move and her gross misstatement in the amount paid for the move, along with her elaim that the movers took advantage of an 85 year old woman, you can see that these are particularly libelous statements that if left undocumented in every way possible, can cause extraordinary financial harm to the company. The review should be removed from the Revdex.com website until such time as Ms. [redacted] proves her claims. We maintain that she cannot and that it should forever be removed from your website. Enough harm. has already been done.

Should you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Beacon was originally contracted to move the contents of a storage unit from Savannah GA to St. Louis MO on January *, 2016. at the time of this complaint it is January ** and they have not picked up the items to be delivered. They have promised to do so today, and deliver the items within 2-4 days, however I have zero faith that will happen at this point. Employees in their dispatch department have blatantly lied about calls that were never made, refused to disclose the names and titles of supervising employees, cancelled & rescheduled move dates and times over 9 times now, and been generally unprofessional. Specifically, a man who identified himself as Levani, a dispatch manager, asked to speak to my "husband or another gentleman" instead of me, a woman, when I told him that changing the date again was unacceptable. He then refused to disclose the name or contact information for anyone who is higher in the business. This was around the time of the sixth change in scheduling.
Today, the newest pickup date, a driver for a subcontracted trucking company hired by Beacon (United), called my contact in Georgia who is responsible for giving access to the storage unit, and told him that "it's inconvenient, but [he] would do [his] best to be on time". At this point I would prefer that no one associated with this company touch anything that I own, however they refuse to refund the money that has already been paid, so I'm not left with much choice. I would strongly advise hiring literally anyone but these people for any sort of move.
The contact information that I have for them is sketchy at best, but they are Listed online as Beacon, their phone calls show up on caller i.d. as being from a company called Sweetface, which is listed as a fashion or cosmetics company of some sort. The address they provided for this complaint is [redacted], which is listed as a generic industrial space and is not where they indicated they are located. Most of this information was gathered from a man who identified himself as Michael, who says he is an owner & it is a family business. If that is the case, this family needs a different business that involves no contact with the public & that does not involve keeping any promises.
The reviews I read prior to hiring Beacon were either glowing or horrendous, and I foolishly decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. If it were possible to undo that decision I would.

Review: The "Binding Estimate" I signed for my move originally stated $1570 and 9 nine days delivery time allowing my delivery to be received on July [redacted]. For this promise from the company I put down a $471 deposit. When the movers arrived they loaded my belongings on the truck, but told me that I was occupying more space than I was allotted and therefore my move cost would be increased. Also, the movers kept mentioning that items were not listed on my inventory list that I KNOW were discussed with [redacted], my moving representative. I was forced to donate so many of my personal belongings because they also ran out of space on the truck!!! The cost then increased to over $2700 and AFTER my belongings were secured on the moving truck I was then presented with the increased cost AND the contract that enabled the movers to have until AUGUST [redacted] for delivery. This was completely unacceptable especially because this situation left me starting my year as a teacher without any of classroom supplies or work clothes.I was definitely taken advantage of here knowing the company already had a deposit and they had possession of my goods. I slept on an air mattress from June [redacted] until July [redacted], I had no pots, pans or silverware for over a month- my life was completely interrupted by the false promise I was given by Beacon. Side note- Beacon sold my move out to another company. They damaged many of my belongings but perhaps the most frustrating thing is that the movers actually OPENED my boxes and stole items from the boxes. So far I am missing my iPod dock, a television and a Nintendo Wii- items that are obviously easy to sell for money...and are very expensive for me to replace. I am disgusted with my experience.Desired Settlement: I want to be compensated for my lost belongings and overall inconvenience for 40 days of my life.

Greetings:

Please be advised that we provide Beacon Moving and Storage (hereafter referred to as "Beacon") with support in responding to Revdex.com claims. This complaint is very important to Beacon and is not being ignored.

We understand that [redacted] feels that she has been wronged. However, we cannot agree with her assertions.

Beacon provided [redacted] with a written estimate to review and sign before booking her move. That estimate contained a written inventory list. That inventory list contained only 51 pieces. [redacted] indicated by her

signature that she had reviewed contract in full and she acknowledged that the inventory was accurate and was based upon her own indication of what she would need to move. That contract also stated, that if she had more items that the ones listed, she would be charged for those additional items. In addition, the binding estimate also provided for the use. of an Agent as most moving companies do not have an unlimited amount of trucks at their disposal. If [redacted] thought that she had additional items, she should not have approved that list. Granted the estimate would have been much higher, but at least the agent would have enough room allocated for her goods. Moreover, her items would have been delivered to her sooner rather than later.

Beacon and its agents move many things on daily basis. There is no possible reason that anyone would steal any of her goods. They neither have the time nor the inclination to steal the goods. However, if [redacted] believes that she has lost or damaged goods, she is not only free, but also encouraged to fi le a claim for those goods. lt is unfortunate but not unheard of that things get lost or damaged. It is the nature of the business and thus it is heavily regulated by the

Department of Transportation. [redacted] can contact our offices to file her claim for loss and damage of goods. We would be happy to accommodate her claim.

Attached please find a copy of [redacted]' Estimate. Should you have any questions or comments please do no

Hesitate to contact our office.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Review: When finding a company to help move my belongings I chose Beacon Moving and Storage. When talking on the phone with an employee named Monique I was promise that my belongings were to be delivered at my destination four days after pick up. When the movers came on Sunday October [redacted] the movers one of which was named Alex proceeded with talking to me with nothing but an attitude and also after 4 hours of packaging my belongings and packing them on the truck which was named USA Moving was told that my belongings exceeded a certain amount of feet and was going to be charged $400 more than the agreed upon price. Prior to finding out that my belongings exceeded the footage amount was told by the employer Monique that it was not a problem and that I had room for the belongings. When trying to discuss the footage amount I was told my belongings were still going to be shipped to the end destination and that the remaining balance is still to be paid. I was lied to about my belongings fitting within the allowable footage was disrespected and when I tried to call them numerous times the day of pick up my calls were ignored and when I finally did get in touch with them they told me they would take care of it and it would be resolved. The following day my items were shipped the problem was not resolved and now am being forced to pay an amount on items that I could have taken with me instead of getting the opportunity to find other means of shipping. I was also told that the matter would only be resolved by paying the amount and contacting a lawyer. Beacon Moving is a very unprofessional business, they lied to me and did not handle customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.Desired Settlement: I am hoping that with this complaint Beacon Moving will understand my frustration and refund me the money that they are stealing from me and in the future they will have better communication with not only their staff but also with their consumers.

Response:

[redacted] was never lied to and price was given prior to shipping, [redacted] loaded more items (furniture/boxes) to ship to [redacted], [redacted] requested a delivery no earlier than 4 days of pick up (10/**/2015) and recived her items 7 days from date of pick up... The additional $400 was for additional items which [redacted] agreed to having! All phone calls are recorded!!! [redacted] received her items with in 7 days requested and no damages at no time was Beacon ever advised that anyone was rude to her!If any one of our Agents/Employees ever spoke to a customer in a demeanor way we would take the necessary actions!

Review: In October, 2014,I hired this moving company to move furniture and other items from Atlanta, GA to Newark, DE. I was told the price included 30 storage at no additional charge. At the end of the 30 days I called to inquire how much it would cost for additional storage time. I was told by [redacted] $160.00 per month. I agreed to the additional time. Two months later (January, 2015) I called [redacted] requesting my furniture be delivered (January [redacted]). I requested the items be delivered either January [redacted] or [redacted] before 2pm as I work from 2:30pm to 11:00pm and no one would be available to take the items. [redacted] told me they would give me a call 24 hours in advance letting me know when the items would arrive. [redacted] did not call me 24hrs in advance. I receive a call on Saturday evening 1/**/15 from [redacted] (truck driver) stating he was in Delaware wanting to deliver my items. I told I was not in town and I did not receive 24hr notice my items were coming.

I called [redacted] several times over the next two weeks requesting my items be delivered. She told me she would have to get back to me. I later realized they were purposely holding my items another month to charge me additional storage costs.

February [redacted], 2015 I call [redacted] once again to get my furniture and other items delivered. She stated she would have to call me back. On February [redacted], I receive a call from [redacted] stating my furniture would be delivered February [redacted] at in the evening. I told [redacted] this is too short notice. I am out of town right now and it cant be there to receive the items. A man then gets on the phone ( I assuming her boss) and states if you dont get your items on February [redacted] in the evening we will charge you additional storage costs. I said please deliever the items by 2pm on February as I have to work at 2:30pm so they cannot be delivered in the evening. He agreed.

On February [redacted] I wait for a call from the delivery men stating they were in my area. At 12 noon, I call the main office number. I leave a message requesting status as no one answers the phone I call back at 1:30pm. No one answers the phone. At 11pm I see 7 missed phone calls from a number I don't recognized with one message which was left at 5pm. The message stated this is [redacted], where in Delaware to deliver your furniture. I specifically told [redacted]'s boss the furniture had to be delivered by 2pm that day. I cannot answer my phone at my job during work hours.

I leave a message for [redacted] the following Monday, February [redacted] but she doesn't return my phone call.

I receive a call on March [redacted] from [redacted] stating they could deliver my items on March [redacted]. I told [redacted] that is too short notice and I would be out of town. I told her I paid for this service and I didn't appreciate this company treating me like I have to beg them to get my own items back that I had paid to be delievered. [redacted] then hung up in my face. That is the last contact I had with this company.Desired Settlement: I am requesting my items be delivered. I feel they have purposely delayed delivering my items to charge me additional storage costs. I did not sign any document agreeing to pay for more storage which is why I had been trying to get my items delivered. I have paid for this service and they are holding my furniture and other items hostage.

Business

Response:

[redacted] is having problems receiving his deliveries because he is unable to settle for a date no matter when we call to confirm with him. To confirm a delivery it is IMPOSSIBLE to call 3 days ahead and guarantee that the drivers can be there at a set time. Until at least a day before, once we are full aware of the distance between the last location of the driver - there is more than 1 deliveries done per trucks- to the location of the following drop off. Once that and traffic is accounted for it is more reasonable to give the customer a time frame between which the driver can arrive. During [redacted]'s previous date of deliveries he did receive many calls which were unanswered to prior to the driver arriving at the location. We had to reschedule for a truck to drive down to him, for which he was not charged. [redacted] then contacted [redacted] and he agreed that he could be there. The day both the office and the driver contacted [redacted] to confirm again that he would be there and no one were able to reach him. The driver than had to move on to another customer that was waiting and come back to [redacted]'s house. [redacted] called [redacted] and asked how much time he needed to make sure he could be there, once time agreed too, [redacted] was given a time frame at which we would be able to send a truck down just for him which would make it easier on his time restrictions. The dates were set between the [redacted] and the [redacted] of March. [redacted] than told [redacted] she wouldn't be able to call until at least the [redacted] to try and give me at least 2 days notice and will do her best to have the estimated time of arrival for [redacted]. On the [redacted] when [redacted] called to let [redacted] know both the date and time that the driver was to be there, [redacted] said it was too short notice, although he had previously known that that was the time frame to reschedule a 3rd delivery and he was being given 2 days notice. [redacted] still wasn't charged for the truck having to once again drive to DE and not deliver and being re-placed in our storage facility. It was agreed that [redacted] would have to himself call to notify the company of when he could receive his items so we could work a date out with him. To this day [redacted] has not called the office or emailed anybody to reschedule. Although he wasn't charged for any additional storage despite what he says, we have no choice but to charge for an additional fee this time in order to send a driver for the 4th time to complete the delivery. Thank you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

That is utter nonsense. This company has my belongings. Why wouldn't I make myself available to receive them given the proper notice. I did not receive 24 hours notice as stated in the agreement, instead I get a call from the driver the day of when I am out of town. I don't have all day to sit around and wait for this company to return my phone calls after [redacted] told me she would get back to me after I paid this company. The only email I have for this company is [redacted] which I used to pay the storage. When I emailed this email address prior to contacting the Revdex.com I received a mail delivery failure.I simply would like a representative to contact me VIA EMAIL ([redacted]) to schedule a delivery date. I would like the company to then adhere to the date set forth. Things happen, of which I am aware, but when a company blatantly disregards your schedule, such as in this case, wheh tgey were told to them prior to attempting to deliver my items is an issue. Let me be clear, I would like a representative to contact me VIA EMAIL ([redacted]) to set up a delivery date. I will no longer attempt to call this company.

Review: On June [redacted] 2014 I hired Beacon moving & storage to move our property from [redacted] to [redacted]. the original estimated time of delivery given was 3-5 days. After the estimated time had passed, and there was no word on when my things would be delivered, on July [redacted] I called Beacon to inquire. They informed me that the agreed upon delivery date was July [redacted]. I agreed to no such date. If I had been asked I would have told them I would like to have things ASAP. I looked at my copy of the paperwork and realized that the driver/mover had voluntarily written that date without agreeing with me on this date let alone communicating this to me. Nevertheless I did sign the paper so I patiently waited. The [redacted] came and went. I still did not receive my property or any word on where they were. I called again. Once again they failed to locate the driver or the whereabouts of my things. I spoke with the [redacted]. I expressed the fact that no one has communicated with me about the whereabouts of my things or when they would be delivered. I told him that I was unhappy about the fact that they had not delivered my property according to the agreement. I informed him that since July [redacted] when I arrived in ** to my new apartment myself, my wife our children including our 1 year old child has been sleeping on the floor every night. All of our clothes except for a few ite** are in their possession so we have been wearing the same clothes every day. I have not been able to cook etc. I have spent a lot of money having to replace things because they have our stuff. On the weekend of July [redacted], I have military duty and because they have my uniform and my gear, I have to go to my base unprepared, out of uniform and explain this to my superior. Besides being exceedingly cold and unsympathetic once again he changed the date telling me I probably wont get my things until Saturday the [redacted] in addition to telling me in the rudest way that technically he can keep my things for 21 days!Desired Settlement: Since the [redacted] is not interested in upholding delivery agreements, and he does not seem to care about quality customer service I need help in getting my property back. I don't know who else to turn to since I have been informed by other employees at that company that there is no one over his head. As I stated before my family and I are living off of bare minimum. The law states that if they were going to change the date of delivery they were supposed to notify me, the consumer, and agree on another date which they failed to do. All movers are expected to answer promptly to complaints which they also failed to do. They are also supposed to inform me of the whereabouts of my property which again they failed to do until I demanded that info from them today before issuing this complaint, finding out that my property is not even in a truck anymore it is in some storage warehouse in Linden, N.J. Inquiring on the Revdex.com website I have just found out that this company has had 25 complaints against them 19 of them issued in this past year alone. Whatever the Revdex.com can do to help me resolve this matter will be appreciated.

Response:

We never said we will hold her ([redacted]) furniture for 21 business days! [redacted] requested an earliest delivery date of 7/*/2014 we delivered 7/**/2014 we explained that we have up to 7 days to deliver her furniture, which we explained prior to loading even when [redacted] made the reservation !!! We were never rude to [redacted] we thank her for giving us the business but at the same time we have a window for deliveries ! she had a relatively small job and it needed to be consolidated to GA !
