Beacon Moving & Storage Reviews (161)

thank you for the service and the customer service will definitely recommend, moved from FL to VA had significantly large move everything was handled perfect.

Thanks Again

I am taking the time to write a review after receiving great support from a customer service representative, Tatiana, at Beacon Moving and Storage. While I have not yet received services (and hope that they are as great as my up front experience was!) I wanted to take a moment to recognize the professionalism, kindness and follow-through of the representative that I worked with to schedule my move. She was helpful, flexible, willing to work with me (and her supervisor, Joe) to ensure that the move operations met the specific needs I had and to ensure that they fell within the price range that I had. Moving is never easy and it's helpful to have a customer service representative that is easy to work with, friendly and doesn't make you feel like you're throwing away the little bit of money you have to spend on a move (when you have to make a multi-state move by yourself and need the help!)

Review: Previously I had filed a complaint with the Beacon Moving & Storage Company from a move that occurred on 3/**/13. They failed to settle my loss and damage claim. On January **, 2014, I finally received a document from them requesting me to sign a settlement document as well as get it notarized in return for a $54 settlement. To date, I have not received my settlement money. I received a notice from the Revdex.com requesting information as to rather my complaint had been resolved. At the point of receipt of this notice from Revdex.com, I had signed the settlement and was awaiting my $54 check from this company. Here is it 4/*/14 and I have not received my settlement. Please keep in mind that this is from a move that took place last year on 3/**/13. I have since moved to where the original location that they had delivered my furnishings. I sent an email to the email noticed on the settlement letter but have not received a response nor the $54.00 to date. This claim is still ongoing. This has been going on way too long. I recommend for others not to use this company for any short or long distance moves. They do not communicate anything and when your furnishings are loss or damage, you will never receive the money they promised. They have been nothing but headaches since day one. In the email I sent to them 3/**/14, I told them if I had not received my $54 by 4/*/14, I am again filing a new Revdex.com claim.Desired Settlement: I want my agreed upon settlement of $54 plus interest delivered to me no later than 4/*/14.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

I have received my forwarded check from my previous address for what was due. However, this business' business practices are to be questioned and if I were anyone anticipating a move of any kind anywhere, I would never use them again. Trust my word, they are not honest and they'll take you for everything they are worth.

Review: I hired Beacon Moving and Storage ( ###-###-####) to relocate from [redacted] to [redacted] on Friday, 7/**/2014.. [redacted], my Customer Representative and I agreed on a pick up date of Friday 7/**/2014, sometime between mid morning and early afternoon. (I have a copy of my binding estimate, and was told verbally NOT to pay any attention to the "estimated volume") [redacted] spoke with me and my mother and told both of this.

On Tuesday,7/*/14 the company asked if they could come on Wednesday 07/**/2014 and pick up the load. I told [redacted] that I was not ready as I had stayed up until 3:30 am to finish packing.

We then settled on a pick up date of Thursday 07/**/2014 as I was told that if I did not take that time slot that it would be Saturday 07/**/2014 or Sunday 07/**/2014. Due to a nasty divorce, I was given to the [redacted] of July to vacate the property.

The agreed verbal and written quote from [redacted] was, do to my circumstances (for my move) the no matter how much space I used that they would only charge me $1,054.00 (in cash) for my move.

Two very nice gentleman showed up on Thursday, and we my storage unit, then went to the house to load up the other items.

When the movers were finished loading, [redacted] called his boss [redacted] or [redacted] ( I am not sure I spoke to so many people) and told him how much space I used. I was then told I owed an additional $1,380.00. and I explained about the agreement that [redacted] and I had and they did not want to listen to anything I had to say. They told me if I didn't pay the $1,380.00 that they would unload the van and take off, so I paid and additional $1,380.00 on my credit card while [redacted] was on the phone with his boss. Once I paid the $1,380.00 I was then told that upon delivery I would owe and additional $250.00 in cash.

The moving company was supposed to arrive on Sunday 07/**/2014 and call when they got in to town to make the delivery. Sunday came and went with no phone call from the movers.

On Monday [redacted] (or [redacted]) called telling me that I I did not pay the additional $1,380.00 and would not deliver my things. I told him that [redacted] was on the phone with his boss when they took my credit card number and information that was needed for payment. No one called me back to confirm payment was received .

Finally, on Monday morning 7/**/2014 two other men showed up with my possessions. They were unable to get the truck up the road due to lack of experience as moving truck drivers and they did not speak English, which made communication very difficult.

After those two men spend over an hour at the end of the street, just standing around, I took them down the street to park the semi, and they used MY pick-up truck (and 1/4 tank of my gas) to remove my things off the semi into my truck and things to the house.

They damaged my truck by gouging the paint job from moving my things; they broke my deceased sisters lamps that match her bedroom set (from [redacted]). They taped the drawers closed on her night stand that also matched her bedroom set and when I VERY GENTLY tried to removed the tape the tape pulled the finish off the night stand. This morning I tried to vacuum the carpets put my [redacted] together and now it is broken. I can turn it on but the rollers do not move. I unplugged everything and put it back together and still the vacuum will not work. This vacuum was purchased back in 1993 at a cost of $1,500.00 that I made payments on. The vacuum has be up kept and has had 2 physicals a year since I have owned it to keep it in excellent working conditions.

I have yet to unpack everything that they "threw" in the garage because it has been raining and I am unable to arrange the boxes correctly. ( My belongings were unpacked VERY unprofessional. Fragile, this end up, light weight boxes are on the bottom of larger heavier boxes, furniture has been tossed on top, with more boxes on top and now all the stacked boxes are now falling everywhere and boxes have collapsed.

I have yet been able to assess all he damage of these boxes due to the rain and am unable to re- arrange them correctly.

I thought I could trust this company with my belongings but I guess I was wrong. I have called and sent e-mails to [redacted], and again called the customer service department on Saturday 07/**/2014 with another message with the customer service department to call on Monday 07/**/2014.

I am asking for your assistance to seek a refund and replacement cost (NOT ACV) and to have an open ended resolution in the event I find more damaged/broken items. If you can recover any monies that they overcharged me (since the agreement with [redacted] was $1,054.00) and to resolve the damaged property any assistance that you could provide is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you [redacted]

Response:

[redacted] was given an estimate based on a list of furniture which adds up to CF/LBS based on that we give a binding price, [redacted] never said or emailed anything that indicates load as much as you want we will charge the same price! he never even said that! when we arrived to [redacted] residence we noticed more items that needed to be moved so we explained to [redacted] that to move the additional items will cost her a total binding price of $3000! or she can move the original list binding price for the same estimated price! [redacted] was very pleasant also about picking up the furniture early, she explained to me of all the hardship she is going to with her personal life, I [redacted] told her I will do everything in my power to help as much as I can. [redacted] had over 1000 CF to move with extra packing service! we didn't charge her for any packing service! didnt charge for extra space we loaded we explained everything before moving a single item! Delivery had to be made with a 18 wheeler also known as a tractor trailer because we didn't have space on the 26 foot truck we made 2 trips to load her furniture in Florida and put it in a storage facility, than we send the 18 wheeler to load everything and delivered everything on to [redacted]. [redacted] signed and acknowledge that everything was delivered in apparent good condition, we delivered in a fast timely manner! we moved over 260 items and again had to use the 18 wheeler which couldnt drive down her road not because of inexperience because if he will of attempted to drive down that road he will have had to be towed out. We have all documents/contract which shows everything I say is correct! We never received any phone calls about any damage or pricing issues, this honestly is kind of a surprise to me considering the conversations I personally had with [redacted] ! If there is anything you need me to look into please contact me directly at ###-###-####, which you already have! And if the Revdex.com will like to see all paper work and with [redacted] permission (since it has persoanl information on those documents) I will be very happy to load up and show everyone !!!!

Review: I been working with one of their employee for the last six month. I went to every room and name everything off in each room. He gave me a price of 1700 but I didn't lock it in yet. I call back few time talking to him between time. I finally call back again he told me that I had to put a deposit down to hold the discount price. I gave 500. I call back change order I have about 50 boxes and add other thing he then quota me 2200. I use to call him all time telling him about what I have he said he have everything down that I have told him. I even call and ask him should I put my pedestal in a box, he told me don't worry about it they will wrap it up. Well the day of my move he didn't have all my thing down, including the pedestal and only had 30 boxes instant of 50 then they want to charge me 1700 more the day they was coming to move me. he told me I can't get my money back. If they are on a recorder line play it back and they will see I am telling the truth. Or we both can take a lie detective test. I know he set me up with a Cinderella quota, so they can get me by a hostage move. I caught them before they put my thing on the truck. I didn't even let them come out to my house. I also told him that if it was more then he should of told me the truth then I could of save money or call around I wouldn't stay with him for 6 month for him to change my price the day of my move, this man is lying. I being saving up for my move the only thing he had to do is be honest with me up front. Also it 8/**/2015 I am trying to call back to get the person name that I talk to and they know my number every time I call they hang up on me but when I was doing the move they answer all time.Desired Settlement: I feel they should give my money back they was not truthful. Also they should be honest with there customer and not railroad their customer. Also when you have a complaint with one of the employee instant of giving you someone that can help they kept giving me back the same person. They treated me like trash I call a lady answer she new who I was right away gave me the same person again. I told her I didn't want to speak to him. I call back a man answer and I told him and he send me to the same person this seems like a scams. The person I had the probably with finally gave me to a man that was suppose to be owner he got very loud with me and told me he was going to send me another link fill it out. He kept out talking me and then he hung up. When I call back to speck to him he never came back to the phone, very under professional but he took my money.

Response:

Ms Johnson received a quote for $1725 for a completely different list than the quote she received the day she changed the list which was one day prior to her move, please attached documents to confirm everything we say is correct it was never 20 boxes extra as she claims! We still told her dont move the extra items move only the list for the same price. We never bait and switch or hold HOSATGE we have been in business for over 15 YEARS and still running STRONG, never were put out of service. If any one switched the paper work is [redacted]...Please review attached document and see that everything I say is correct!

Review: I hired Beacon Moving & Storage for my move from MA to SC. I realize Beacon is a broker who hired more than one company to actually move my belongings. [redacted] from NJ picked up my items in a box truck. They were very respectful and willing to help with whatever I needed, as well as give me cost saving advice. The move actually cost me $3,100 instead of the $1,700 - $1,900 he told me based on my inventory list. OK, I had more boxes but I got rid of a lot of stuff including all my living furniture and the cost per cubic ft went up 16cents.

Per Beacon Moving & Storage - They were NOT professional and they did NOT reassemble all of my items.

Full Service Relocation Includes:

• Professional Door to Door service.

• 2/*/4 Professional Movers (certified trained)

• Loading and unloading of all items.

• Basic disassembly & reassembly. Dismantling of complex pieces can be requested however we can not guarantee the reassembly of such items.

• Fully quilted padding & wrapping of all furniture (‘Full Packing Service’ available upon request).

• Cargo insurance coverage up to $1,000,000

• Basic valuation protection of $0.60 cents per lb per article

• All taxes & tolls included

• Fuel surcharges, mileage and transportation fees included

• 30 days of FREE climate controlled storage in our secured storage facility (FREE Re-delivery)Desired Settlement: The business had unacceptable behavior and customer service and well as product and services offered. I do expect a financial settlement as well as acknowledgement and return communication. An apology to my friends, children and neighbors who were here to witness the outrageous behavior and vulgar language and dangerous activity would be nice, but not exactly possible nor nearly enough. I would like a refund for part of what I had to pay for services because I had to finish the job myself. I would like reimbursement for the destroyed items and compensation for clothes that are now garbage. The miscellaneous things that were broken and scratched up should have some sort of compensation as well; everything was well packed and wrapped up by myself and [redacted] that picked up.

Response:

In response to the customers complaint regarding the change of price for the relocation services, we would like to highlight a few points: Compared to her original estimate which was agreed upon, customer moved a total of 168 pieces contrary to the 108 pieces previously listed. In our binding estimate the agreed price between customer and company was for a rate of $3.15 per cubic feet. In our final contract the same tariff was applied ie $3.15 per cubit feet we will attach documents as proof to indicate there was no increase. Disassembling services are provided based on customer request, but we only reassemble basic items. Anything that exceeds 6 to 8 screws are not reassembled and customer is advised that there is additional cost for assembly if services are requested on delivery. This matter is notified to the customer both during the time of estimate and at pickup, whereupon an agreement will be signed. The agreement that was signed by customer did not indicate any additional costs. To file a claim for damages, the customer has to call in to our office, so we can provide the claim's process information and the number so that they can call and make an official report and start their process. We are available at [redacted] for customer to call in.Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

It is understood about the additional items and the price of the contract I signed. My point is their initial offer was $3.00 at my first estimate. All of this was not a huge deal if everything else went ok. As far as reassembly, they did NOT reassemble most of everything because they got into an argument, the police showed up and they were asked to leave! Do I need to get a copy of the police report? Thank you, [redacted]

Review: From my old apartment in [redacted], Ohio my belongings loaded on their moving van 6-**-2015. Belongings to be delivered to [redacted] on 6-**-2015. They ;have not arrived yet. I am still waiting.Desired Settlement: Please have my belongings delivered as soon as possible to my new address

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. The moving company delivered my belongings 7-*-2015 at 4:30 pm. Thank you very very much for your help.

Sincerely,

Review: We had an interstate move in June 2014. Worst moving company experience ever. Our negative experience started on loading day. The pick-up crew was unorganized, very unprofessional and, apparently, not very efficient or knowledgeable in the proper way to wrap, load and prepare our belongings. The delivery crew was more of the same. They never once went through the numeric item list verifying the items. We ended up paying for several items to be moved that were either completely broken and/or significantly damaged. We had issues in the company never explaining or following up on cost using cubic feet vs. total weight. The loading crew told my wife to sign a form stating the price is "binding" but at no time did [redacted] or [redacted] ([redacted]) fully explain when and how we were to make that decision. My wife was just told to "sign here"..."this is just a document we need." [redacted] stated several times that we would be told the actual weight of our belongings using the state certified weighing station. [redacted] also stated that we could then opt for whatever method of shipping calculation works best for us. The weight of our shipment never happened. Extremely poor customer service. [redacted] in dispatch actually enticed an argument between him and my wife. He used unacceptable language and very confrontational statements. I had the same type of conversation with him on delivery day. We left several messages for [redacted] starting 06/** and no response until Tuesday, July [redacted]. We left messages for several people but nobody took ownership of our concerns the entire time. Our calls were transferred all around with no actual assistance. The company forced us to pay a significantly higher amount for this shipment AND we paid for so many items that were damaged and/or now trash. Plus the fact of the cost of items that we must now replace which were left in Florida. Combine all that with the extremely poor customer service we received makes this company unacceptable for consumers.Desired Settlement: We strongly believe it is unacceptable that we were charged almost $1,000 more than our estimate AND we paid for items that were broken and trashed. The cost to replace the items left out of our shipment is also significant. Our belongings were held as "ransom" and we had to pay cash. Paying for items broken due to their incompetence in proper moving procedures is unacceptable. We would like a refund of half the difference from the estimate to actual total fee charged.

Business

Response:

let me start by explaining that the reason we didn't pick up all the items is because [redacted] had more items to move and [redacted] decided not to take everything because they didn't want to want/have money to pay for the size shipment that they needed to move. The rise in price was only because [redacted] added more items to the list and they were explained prior to loading and moving anything! everything that was left behind is not Beacons fault [redacted] decided not to take them! If their is any damages please contact our office and we will file a claim for, Beacon moving is fully insured licensed and bonded! we never received any inforation or picture/letter/email regarding any damages ([redacted]).

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

This response from Beacon Moving / USA Van Lines in unacceptable and clearly shows how poorly they have dealt with this entire situation. Their response was entirely focused on what was not taken on the move rather than the extremely poor customer service and moving service they provided.

This response is from [redacted] who is one of the people we attempted to communicate with several times along with [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] when everything started to go wrong. This response did not even attempt to resolve how unprofessional our move was handled. We have a long list of items damaged and/or broken that we paid to move and all they try to do is deflect the situation. With any move one might expect an item or two to be damaged but the long list we have indicates this move went very wrong. Even his delivery crew saw some of the items that were broken and stated a couple of times, "That is our fault."

We left voicemails and sent emails to them numerous times between the day of pick-up and through the week after delivery. I was only able to talk with [redacted] on July [redacted] because I pretended to be a new customer looking for a moving quote. I got him on the phone by surprise and he proceeded to tell me, "This is the first I'm hearing of anything going wrong with your move." This after so many voicemails and emails stating we were unhappy and need to talk with someone. I then spoke to [redacted] after [redacted] transferred me who proceeded to try and dictate the conversation speaking often and loudly with his only focus being the binder document that his pick-up crew told my wife to sign at about 10pm after they packed the truck and my wife was literally leaving to drive to Connecticut immediately after. They have yet to explain how their sales rep, [redacted], told me "We will use whatever method of shipment calculation works best for you." regarding total weight vs. cubic feet and then never to follow through on it. [redacted] said he was calling me back with the weight calculation and never did. This document they made my wife sign after pick-up never even states any final cubic foot measurement of our shipment. When I asked [redacted] how they came up with their final cost he said the cubic foot measurement was used. How is that even possible when their document doesn't list ANY such measurement?

[redacted] also told me at that time they would send me an email with that document. His instructions were to respond to that email address with my full complaint and all the details about the entire move along with pictures. I received their email from [redacted] and that is the same address I confirmed with him on the phone 3 times before we ended our conversation July [redacted]. I sent my fully detailed response with pictures attached on July [redacted] using the reply option to their email. I received ZERO response. I resent it again on July [redacted] and stated within that email that the original was sent 10 days prior. Zero response again. I did not receive any delivery failure notice from either email so I know they went through.

At no time during this response here or in my conversation with [redacted] on July [redacted] did he even attempt to apologize for the gross misconduct of his employees or [redacted] in their dispatch office for his completely unprofessional conversations with my wife. On the day before delivery, [redacted] stated, "If you want your furniture delivered, you must pay the additional $1,600 in cash or nothing will be brought to you." He yelled at my wife demanding this payment in cash stating this similar sentence several times. His delivery crew showed up at 6am the next day and, again, demanded payment in full before they would bring even one box in our home. We had no choice but to proceed in order to get our belongings.

We will not let this issue rest until it has been resolved to our satisfaction. This company cannot be allowed to conduct their business so unprofessional towards its customers. Consumers cannot be taken advantage of like this and especially when so much money is involved.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Once again, this response from Beacon Moving/USA Van Lines is merely another attempt at deflecting the true nature of our complaints. They have yet to address any of the other major complaints we have. Nothing regarding their gross misconduct for customer service; nothing about the fact that their "sales" person used tactics to gain the sale in providing information that turned out to be the opposite of how we were charged after pick-up; nothing about how their employee [redacted] in the dispatch department, yelled at my wife on the phone demanding cash the next morning for us to have our belongings back; nothing about why we had an extensive list of damaged items; nothing about how they charged us for 'cubic feet' pricing when there is no indication of total cubic feet used on the truck; nothing about how their delivery crew completely disregarded the inventory list in never once referring to it while bringing boxes in the home; nothing about why our calls, messages and emails were completely ignored by everyone in the company for one entire week after pick-up and never once even attempting to explain why we were given a pricing method stating three separate times that they would weight their truck at an official weighing station before and after our total shipment was loaded.

As I've already stated, I already sent the complete details of our complaints, list of damaged items and pictures to the email address they provided initially and again in this latest response. That was sent on July [redacted] and again on July [redacted]. I also called and left a message for [redacted] stating that I sent the email twice already with ZERO response from him or anyone at the company. We had no delivery failure messages so these two emails were received by them. Beacon Moving is trying to focus this complaint on how many stickers their pick-up crew placed on items they took on the truck. Their crew and [redacted] have stated the total number of items but they increased that inventory list by doing things like taking apart a post bed and placing item count stickers on the four posts, headboard and footboard. Six items right there (according to their total item count method) but this was listed on our original estimate to the sales person. There are several other such instances. I only state this because THEY are focused on "look at how many items we took on pick-up" in trying to justify their pricing.

ONCE AGAIN....nothing about how they are even able to charge us a cubic foot pricing method when these shipping documents never state actual cubic feet used for our shipment. The truck they arrived in on pick-up day already had other furniture from additional customer(s). [redacted] likes referring to these documents apparently in trying to justify their actions so maybe he would like to explain that one simple fact on cubic foot pricing for our shipment.

Trying to state that they had no idea of any damages or trouble with our move is a ridiculous statement. Asking me to resend an email with details and pictures that I've already sent twice is a waste of my time. Maybe they can actually put more effort into resolving our complaints/concerns by doing their own research and review the entire move with all the employees involved. Well, I guess that would be done with any respectable company that wishes to actually provide great customer service so they can continue to stay in business. Apparently, this company only wishes to do have one-time customers that use them for moving services unaware of how unprofessional they are. If Beacon says they disagree with being unprofessional then do some actual work to investigate, review and resolve our complaints/concerns. That would be a refreshing change from Beacon Moving.

In addition to this complaint with the Revdex.com, I have also registered a formal complaint with the Federal Dept of Transportation who has all the details now and investigating this as well. My conversation with that agency provided some very enlightening information regarding this moving company, actions that could be taken and how we can further continue our complaint process.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

no one yelled at [redacted] wife, all the phone calls are recorded. We offered again a binding price which was agreed, [redacted] from dispatch/claim can address any matter regarding damages please contact her at ###-###-#### or I can have [redacted] try to contact you again. We will resolve any issue we have!

I highly recommend that you do NOT do business with this company. I thought I was getting a deal with the price but would have gladly paid more for customer service and a confirmed delivery date. I've moved interstate several times and have never had such a horrible experience trying to confirm delivery of items. I requested a delivery date three weeks in advance of my anticipated move and after several attempts to get a response, was just told that the date I gave them was the "earliest" I can receive my items - it doesn't confirm a delivery date and they now have 21 days to deliver from the date I gave them. Now I have to extend my temporary living arrangements on top of the fact I've been paying for an apartment I'm not able to live in. There's no regards to the hardships they're causing (e.g., time off requests, additional appointments, etc.) and they're downright rude in their dealings. Unless you are desperate, I would not give them your business.

Beacon Moving sent over 4 professional guys to move from down from ** to **. We had them do a full pack job and storage some of our stuff while we were closing on the new house. We had temporary housing for some stuff but they offered us free storage to keep some of our stuff on ice until we closed. They did a great job on everything and were very proficient with everything Not only did we get everything delivered finally from to our house after closing in a timely manner but we had them haul everything from the temporary housing that we had to the new house. I'll recommend them to friends/family in the future.

Review: First off we filed for a moving quote online. Beacon Hill was one of the first companies to contact us. A employee named [redacted] at this number ###-###-#### called and told us a quote for everything in storage at $1125.00 from FL to NC. He was very polite while trying to get bid. Once we got the bid and started having problems he would not answer his phone anymore. When the movers got there, they were told by [redacted] to get the most important stuff first. Like the bed, mattress, kitchen table, chairs, crib, etc.. He left and came back and they had only put the bed frame with no mattress, a couple of boxes, kitchen chairs with no table. The passenger of the truck employeed by Beacon told [redacted] that they always underbid people and then to charge them more that way they get the bid and then make more money in the end. I called [redacted] and told him that I did not want the boxes and that I wanted the most important stuff. He stated the he would call me back, but instead texted the employee and told him to call me. I spoke to the employee and he stated if we want everything then it will cost over $500 more and that he is not taking anything off the truck and not putting what I want on the truck unless I pay. I called [redacted] and informed him that I was calling the police if this was not settled. Before the cops arrived the guys left the scene without taking the stuff I wanted. The next day I spoke to [redacted] at ###-###-####. He was very rude and condescending. I told him what the employee said and he called him and the employee said that he never made those statements. [redacted] told us we were not getting the stuff we wanted because [redacted] and [redacted] (in laws) told them to get the boxes first. Statements that were not made by either of them. They were made by the employee. He called my in laws liars. Two days later the same employees called and stated that they were almost here on a Thursday when they weren't suppose to be here until Saturday. I called [redacted] and he stated that if we don't get it in 2 days that it would be put into storage in NY and that we could pick it up ourselves there. I agreed to receive my furniture and they arrived 2 hours later. Now, in the original contract sent to me by [redacted] they paid for the 3 flights of stairs. I have copies of all these documents. The employees made a new copy and signed [redacted]'s name to it stating they did not pay for the stairs and that they want $150 extra dollars. I told them I had no more money and that I live on Military disability. He stated that the money was actually for him and his partner, but not to worry about it. I went down with to the truck and they opened the back. Stuff was all over the place from improper strapping. I asked the passenger if he made those statements to [redacted] and he said, "Yes, but I can not lose my job." " I just had twins, a boy and a girl and my boss will fire me." They were so exhausted that I decided to help them with the move and made several trips up and down the stairs carrying furniture. I called [redacted] and asked him if I could receive a discount for the inconvenience. He said no, that I got what I was quoted and that I received great service from a great company. I told him that he was a liar and a thief and then he hung up on me. I tried contacting the company several times after that and they would not pick up. Almost all of the furniture was damaged upon arrival and nothing was complete. I have a bed with no mattress, they did not get my crib and I have a baby due in a 1 1/2 months, kitchen chairs with no table, sofa and loveseat with no end tables, and some boxes. I hope no one every uses this company. They only tell you what you want to hear to get your bid and once you put down a deposit, it's over. NO more customer service. They are right and the customer is wrong. They are very rude and dishonest. I wish I had done my research, if anyone is thinking of using this company please look at this website [redacted] They do have some good reviews, but a majority of them including my wife and I's and my inlaws will not be. We will all be filing a complaint with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I want half of the money back that was paid since I received only half of what was desired in storage and received very unprofessional service.

Greetings:

Please be advised that we provide Beacon Moving and Storage (hereafter referred to as "Beacon") with support in responding to Revdex.com claims. This complaint is very important to Beacon and is not being ignored.

We understand that [redacted] is frustrated with her service. Beacon and its agents always strive to provide their customers with exceptional service. We are sorry that [redacted] feels as if she was not provided with what she was promised .

In order to properly respond to [redacted]'s complaints, we must first examine the inventory on the side of the Moving Company, While Beacon handled the booking of the move another company executed the move. At this time. we can confirm that Beacon contracted with [redacted] for at least 10 boxes and they needed to have those boxes picked up. Also, since the contract was under [redacted]' s name, it would stand to reason that the Movers would take instructions from him. As to what [redacted] stated to the employee and what statements the employee made, her assertions are incredible. At one point [redacted] stated that the employee's statements had credibility and later she stated that his statements were untrue.

As for the allegation that the Mover told the [redacted] and [redacted] that it is a practice of Beacon to underquote a job and then jack u p the price at the time of the move is both unbelievable and quite frankly absurd. First the employees were questioned about the alleged statements and they all denied it. Moreover, Beacon takes an exact list from the client regarding the items to be moved. The client then must approve their list as written in the estimate and sign the estimate based upon what is contained in that estimate. Only then can a move be booked. The client is warned prior to signing the contract that if the list varies the price may increase. It is unfair to place the blame on the company when it is the client that compiles that list and later has additional items on the day of the move. Many customers do not have an increased price because they provided an accurate list for their move at the time of the estimate.

While we still do not have a full picture of this complaint without the proper documentation, there were obvious misunderstandings in this case. for that we apologize. Nevertheless, Beacon was instructed to go to the storage facility and move the items contained therein. Their agent did just that.

We are happy to review any paperwork that [redacted] submitted in order to file her complaint. Should you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact our office. Thank you for your kind consideration.

This company use a lot of lies to get you to do business with them. I was guaranteed a delivery date of 07/**/2015 over the phone and was guaranteed a cost of $1,590.00 but the cost was change after the picked up all item to $3,000.00 and I did not received my delivery until 08/**/2015. Per the contract "Basic disassembly & reassembly" the driver refused to any item together. I have forward all recorded phone calls and paperwork over to the Illinois Attorney General Office for consumer fraud. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE USING LIES AND TRICKS TO GET YOUR MONEY AND THEN DO NOT DELIVERY ON A PROMISE. HERE IS ALL OF THERE INFORMATION:

I recently had the task of relocating a household of furniture and "stuff" from Boca Raton, Florida to Connecticut. Deciding on a carrier was indeed a difficult one. Cost is always an important factor. Do I choose a more expensive carry? How do I know how reliable they are? etc etc. I did choose Beacon Moving and storage based on cost and most importantly, because of Joe, the first person I spoke with. He quoted me immediately, was very kind, caring and understanding all of my fears. The packers and movers arrived on time and were exceptionally kind, courteous and efficient. When my delivery arrived, once again, the movers were exceptionally kind, courteous and efficient, even after a grueling long day for them. They showed no signs of exhaustion or frustration after dealing with customers all day. I felt like I was their first delivery of the day and special. I recommend them HIGHLY. Emphasis on kindness, understanding, compassion and pricing. Also, not one item was missing or damaged!

Review: This company gave me a binding estimate of $1320 and required a $400 non refundable installment to move my furniture. They hired another local moving company without my consent to pick up my furniture, Unique Van Lines. When the other moving company came, they hiked up the prices by $400. They also delivered 2 days later than I was told. Upon delivery, they charged me $100 more than what was written on the binding contract. They also lost 2 of my items. They lost a medium box and an end table.Desired Settlement: Refund of $500 and my lost items.

Greetings:

Please be advised that we provide Beacon Moving and Storage (hereafter referred to as "Beacon") with support in responding to Revdex.com claims. This complaint is very important to Beacon and is not being ignored.

We understand that [redacted] is frustrated with her service. We would like to answer the complaint made only against Beacon. As we do not represent the Moving Agent, and we cannot speak on their behalf.

[redacted] entered into a contract with Beacon for a moving service. As moving companies do not have an unlimited amount of resources in the form of trucks and crews they often use Agents to complete the move. The Department of Transportation recognizes that this is a necessity and has put regulations in place to govern the Agency agreements between movers. Beacon promised that it would provide that service per her estimated goods. In her binding estimate Beacon indicated that Beacon may use an agent in order to complete the move. Beacon has acted within the confines of their mutual contract. They discussed the move, produced an estimate based upon her list of goods, scheduled men and a truck for her move. Her goods were picked up as promised and delivered within the time frame allotted by her contract. Beacon strives to deliver the best service possible, however it is not always the ease that the client ends up happy. For that, Beacon offers its apology.

Should you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Review: I had to relocate to Colarodo so after a bit of research I called "Beacon Moving", to schedule a move from PA to CO. Initially, when the company provided a quote for the move I was informed by one of the rep.s, that the price offered was binding and would not change. I was also promised that the trucks used for delivery were owned by the company (not brokered to a third party) and the delivery date was guarenteed. However, on the scheduled day of the move when the movers arrived I was surprised, the delivery truck was from a different company (other than Beacon). They had brokered with a third party company for the delivery. When the movers finished loading the items to the truck I was given a new price which was $150~ more than the original binding price. These didn't bother me much as, I was assured that the items would arrive on July [redacted]. When, I called the company on July [redacted] to confirm, I was told that the truck had arrived at CO but, had broken down and the delivery had to be rescheduled to Thursday (July [redacted]). I called again on July [redacted] to check on the arrival time and I was shocked to hear that the items would not be delivered and I need to wait another week for my items to arrive and I would recieve a call from the company before end of Friday(July [redacted]) for a confirmation on the delivery. That did not happen anyway, and I had to make multiple calls to seek help from the company's staff and the manager to expedite the delivery but, neither the staff nor the upper management seemed to show any interest in resolving the issue. The company made no attempts to follow up regarding the delivery. Worse still, I wouldn't have known about the delay in the delivery had I not called in. It is one week past, the scheduled delivery and I'm still waiting for my items to arrive.

Overall, I'm disappointed with the service offered by "Beacon Moving". The company failed to deliver on the promises and did not live up to any of its claims. I just hope, that my items are delivered at the earliest.Desired Settlement: I request my items to be deliverd as soon as possible and the remaining amount owed for the move be waived off.

[redacted] received a quote for $1365 and the final bill is $1500 a difference of $135 we had 19 items to pick and we actually picked up 33 items but the inventory was very small items and some were broken down to multiple items so the size of the shipment only escalated by 30 CF ! Review: I hired Beacon Movers and Storage to move me to another state. [redacted] was the primary person I dealt with. I had read reviews that delivery was sometimes 30-60 days so I called [redacted] to speak with him about my concern, he told me that by law my furniture had to be delivered between 5-7 days after pick up. The movers collected my items on 7/** which was a disaster, they left things behind that I couldnt take with me so I had to throw them away. I called [redacted] to address this issue but he gave me a different number to call (###-###-####) The gentalman that answered the phone was no help, all he kept saying was "we were scheduled to pick up 46 pieces but we took 92, am I missing something". You pay for the space so im not sure why the pieces was an issue, we got no where with that conversation he ended up hanging up on me. On 7/** I called to see when my furniture was being delivered, the female dispatcher told me it was scheuled to leave on 8/* or 8/*, she said furniture is delivered 5-7 days after you can receive. I told her that wasnt the information I was given and my furniture should be delivered today or tomorrow. I immediately called [redacted] and he said that information was not true and he was going to go upstairs to see what was going on and call me back. I never received a call back from [redacted] however I got a call the next day(8/*) that my furniture would be delievered on 8/* between 8-10. The delivery men arrived at 9am on 8/*. As they were brining in the furniture I noticed my brand new $70 bar stool was broker, the delivery man said he would make a note. As more furniture came in and unwrapped I notice more damage(my king bed head and foot board, my daughters twin beds, a 6 dresser draw, a 4 draw chest, my kitchen potato/onion and bread bin, my dvd tower). I immediately called Beacon Movers on Sat 8/* but no one answered. The mover guy gave me a number to call to report it (###-###-####) but no one answered so I left a message. I called [redacted] also on 8/* and left him a message about my damaged furniture. [redacted] returned my phone call but I missed the call and he left a message telling me no one was in the office on 8/* the office is closed and to call ###-###-#### and ask for [redacted]. I called that number on Sunday left a message and then again on Monday, today is Tuesday and I havent heard back from anyone regarding my damaged furniture. We they picked up my furniture they completely took my daughters bunk beds apart, then when they deliverd they said they cant put together cribs or kids beds by law so I had to put them together myself.Desired Settlement: I paid $1600 and some change for them to deliver my furniture. I basically paid to havemy things damaged. I have pictures of the damaged items and I have a receipt for the damaged bar stool that was purchased last month.

the reason we couldn't take everything from [redacted] home is because she had more items to move and wasnt willing to pay the extra fee for more space on the truck, we still took more items and charged accordingly! If there is any damages occurred by us please contact us as we are in the office Monday - Friday 9 to 6 and Sunday 10 to 5, [redacted]

contract indicates delivery dates she requested, the foreman explained to her it can take up-to 7 days from the earliest date she needs.

I have already instructed [redacted] from ###-###-#### to call her and start a claim form and see if there is any damages to her furniture....

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

When I emailed [redacted] with an inventory of the things that I was moving it was an estimate. I didn't know how many boxes I would have until I packed everything. When I spoke to [redacted] he did say it would not be a problem if I had nore things than estimated I pay for more space or they would reduce if I had less. I was willing to pay for more space the movers didn't tell me I was out of space and would have to pay more money. I was willing and able to pay for more space. The movers that packed me didn't speak good English they were [redacted] so I'm not sure how I wasn't willing to pay for more space. I called on Saturday 8/* while the movers were there to report the damages no one answered, I left a message on [redacted]'s Voice mail and [redacted]'s voice mail. [redacted] returned my call on Sun 8/*(I have the voice message he left), he told me to call [redacted]. I again called [redacted] on 8/* & 8/* both days I left a message regarding my damages. No one returned my call. First call I got was yesterday 8/** and there was no message left. The movers that unpacked me witnessed the damages to my furniture on 8/*. I can submit phone records for the amount of times I called and when they first called me regarding damages. They also took apart my daughters bunk beds when they wasn't suppose to per company policy, so that was more items listed because they inventory every piece of the twin beds. I also had to put together the beds because the movers couldn't put them back together per company policy. This company makes things up, they don't give correct information and they damage your things.

Review: I was in the process of moving from New jersey to mcdonough,ga. I was contacted by the supervisor named "[redacted]". We started the conversation with the information he requested on the move. We stated that our belongings were in storage and proceeded to let him know the storage size which was given. We went through the list of what was in the storage. We proceeded to let him know that there were no heavy items. we only had a bedroom set which is.. mattress, box spring, head and foot board, 2 night stands, plus a standing close organizer and a long one. we also told him that we had my daughters long close closet and 2 night stands, one small 20 inch tv and alot of boxes and bags. NO heavy items. We do not have a living room set or a kitchen set or a refrigerator. So he continiued to say that it was considered a small move. we gave all the information that he requested and he gave us quote. I put a deposit down of $315.00 that was given over the phone. He gave an estimate which was $1,0048.00 less the deposit. We set up a date and time that the movers were going to be at the storage and my husband met the there. The day came for them to come and when my husband opened the unit the driver told my husband that it was going to be 1,800.00 more that what I was quoted. My husband told the driver that all cost were given already and we made a down payment. The driver called "[redacted]" and after the conversation the driver left. Leaving us at a stand still with all our belongings still in the storage. I called the company that same day and spoke to a dispatch person because "[redacted]" was no longer available to speak to me. I had explained to the dispatch what took place and she continued to tell me that she needed to speak to the supervisor which was "[redacted]". She stated that she would return my call in a couple of hours. She never called me back that day, the next day I called and she told me that the deposit was non-refundable. I proceeded to tell her that they breached the contract. It never states in the contract that the driver has the ability to change the amount that was already agreed upon. I have not heard from them since. I told them that I will take this to court if I have to. These people make their money by defrauding the consumer. I read over the contract and it never states that the amount can be adjusted. please review my complaint. I really appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.Desired Settlement: I want my deposit back because they breached the contract.

Please be advised that we provide Beacon Moving and Storage (hereafter referred to as "Beacon") with support in responding to Revdex.com claims. This complaint is very important to Beacon and is not being ignored.

Beacon has reviewed this dispute and would like to address the issues raised by [redacted]. In the normal moving scenario, the client is provided with an estimate based upon the information provided by the client to the company. Based upon that information an inventory list is generated and it must be approved by the client prior to the move being scheduled. Unfortunately, it happens every so often that the client grossly underestimates the amount of items to be moved thus there are additional items on the inventory. These additional items are not moved free of charge as they take more time, room and manpower. Nevertheless, the original estimate indicates that in the price is only guaranteed for those items listed in the original estimate and that the price may increase for the additional items claimed. (Please see estimate below. I highlighted the text in yellow. If you ask [redacted] to send you her copy you will see that this was contained in her estimate) Other than that, there are also incidental charges for additional needs based upon the individual moves. These charges include the need for items not accounted for in the original estimate,

such as packing materials, flights of stairs, extra stops requested by the client, shuttle services, etc.. These are normally smaller charges added to the price. In this case [redacted] had additional items not accounted for in the original estimate.

Should you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact our office. Thank you for your kind consideration.

Review: I gave Tatiana a rep of this company a complete list of items to be moved from ** to **. The move was scheduled for 6/**/15 between 10am and 12pm. The driver arrived at 4:30 pm and advised that he was only supposed to pick up 10 items for $4,000.00. We paid a deposit of $1,215.00. When trying to reach the dispatcher no one would answer the phone. Eventually Joe called back to say they would move half of the items for the $4,000.00, which was totally unacceptable. I requested a refund of my deposit and cancelled the move at which time I was advised there was no refunds allowed and they would NOT be doing any move for me. I needed this move to take place no later than June **, 2015 as someone else has rented this property effective July *, 2015. This has caused me to be in a very difficult situation. To say that the driver and Joe were unbelievable rude would be putting it mildly. When I called and asked for a Supervisor or Manager at 9:32 AM EST on June **, 2015, Joe advised me that no supervisor was available and would not be available until 11:30am. I requested a call backDesired Settlement: I would appreciate it if I could get an immediate refund of my deposit for services not rendered.

[redacted] was never told that we will pick up only 10 items, our Foreman David arrived at [redacted] House and noticed that she has a lot more items than the original list that Both Beacon [redacted] ans [redacted] agreed to have picked up (please see attached document)! we told [redacted] that we have a Binding contract to pick up the list for the agreed price as you can on the attached document! [redacted] was not even there she had a family representative at time of pick. According to DOT regulations we have to notify the customer prior to loading of all additional fees for extra items/furniture/boxes, we explained everything but [redacted] basically told us you pick up everything (over the phone) for the same price or GO! Everything that [redacted] said in her complaint is NOT TRUE you can see exactly what was emailed ([redacted]) and confirmed with [redacted] from 5/**/2015 to 6/**/2015 ....

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: The attached itemized list is what they were supposed to pick up but the driver David left once he saw the furniture saying it was more than what was on the itemized list. He did indeed say he would only take 10 items. When I placed this reservation with Beacon I advised Tatiana that I was in [redacted] and I would be present for the delivery not the pick up. Beacon refused to take the itemized list of furniture attached because the furniture was too big and they did not have enough room on a fully loaded truck at the time of pick up. I can indeed provide you with a notarized statement that this is what happened on the day of pick up. Now I have paid another company $4,054.00 to make this move for me due to Beacon Moving and Storage's refusal to pick up my furniture per the contract. The driver David drove off without saying anything to my representative at the house. This is why I am requesting a full refund of my deposit as I do not have $1,215.00 to give to a company for services not rendered. Especially when I was forced to retain the services of another company to do what Beacon refused to do. I would not have retained the services of another company to pay any additional monies for something they agreed to do. Beacon refused to make the move per the contract, this is why I am paying someone else for the same services I requested from Beacon Moving & Storage.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Once again I reiterate that I do not have time to play any games. The Beacon driver was at the [redacted] premises all of 10 minutes if that before they left. They did NOT try to rectify the matter by speaking with me while the driver was present. Once my representative told me the driver left without saying a word, I tried calling the company several times and got no answer. It wasn't until I called from a totally different phone number did I get an answer only to be told that they would not be making this move for the $4,000 In one of their previous responses they stated that they would move the 73 items for the $4,000 and nothing more. But they are not willing to do this at all. They are the ones trying to manipulate the system NOT I. I am so very tired of playing this game with them. THEY REFUSED TO DO THE JOB per the agreement. I did not Neither did my representative make any statements such as that. Since they left the premises of their own volition they may as well admit their error and refund my deposit. They are not entitled to keep any monies as they did not keep their part of the agreement. I have no reason to make any false statements because I needed my furniture moved from the [redacted] to the [redacted] Coast and Beacon REFUSED to make this move for me.

Greetings,

Please be advised that we provide Beacon Moving and Storage (hereafter referred to as "Beacon") with support in responding to Revdex.com claims. This complaint is very important to Beacon and is not being ignored. Nevertheless, Beacon does not agree with [redacted]'s position.

While it is true that [redacted] filed a claim with my office against Beacon, his complaint is not being ignored. It is unfortunate that there are many claims against many companies during the summer months. While we would like to address each and every claim immediately, most often that is impossible. Thus the Department of Transportation gives us at least 120 days to resolve a case. We are within that time period .

In this case, Beacon used an agent to complete this move. Thus any complaints of either loss or damage must be filed against the actual moving company that delivered the goods as they are the ones that would either lose or damage the items. Nevertheless, Beacon stands by its agents and together they strive to provide the best service possible. Unfortunately, not all moves go as smoothly as intended and things do get damaged. It is the client's responsibility to file the claim and submit the evidence to support that claim. At that point, the agent will take full responsibility for the legitimate claims under the contract. Here, [redacted] filed a vague complaint. We asked for specific information and were given inaccurate and incomplete answers.

All parties realize that this claim must reach a final determination. We hope that we can finalize it as soon as possible.

Attached please find the documents relevant to this complaint. Should you need any additional information please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Response:

Greetings,

We are in receipt of [redacted]'s follow up to our last response. [redacted] is correct in that this back and forth is not taking us anywhere. Our time is better spent reviewing and resolving claims than talking about them.

I do not want to disrespect [redacted]. That is not my purpose. I simply need to review his file and make a determination based upon his contract. If I am missing information, l will make a request for that information. As you will see per our previous communication with your office, [redacted] did not provide us with the proper information as to his moving company. It was not listed in his claim and it was not listed on the inventory sheet he sent into the office. In addition, contrary to his statements to you, his inventory sheet indicated that he packed all of his goods. Unfortunately, most people do not bother to read their contracts which they agreed to by their own signature. Nor do they bother reading the booklet "Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move" published by the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Otherwise they would understand that while they feel that they are entitled to full compensation for the value of their goods, their contract expressly limits the company's liability where it comes to the value of the good (inmost cases 60 cents per pound for interstate moves and 30 cents per pound for local moves) and its liability for items such as those packed by the owner or those of pressed wood (they do not accept liability). Moreover, both the contract with Beacon and the DOT FMCSA say that moving companies may use brokers.

Finally, I was able to get a final photo of [redacted]'s fan. It was not provided in the past. This one shows the top part of the fan and the break. The previous photo that he provided looked more like a hand mixer with a broken top as opposed to a fan.

[redacted] should be receiving his determination in the mail soon. Thank you for your kind consideration.

As stated in my last email, I am done exchanging email. [redacted] chooses to put up a straw mans argument all the time. My time stamped correspondences and email will prove all his statements wrong in court. I signed a contract with Beacon moving company and that is all that matters. If they contracted out to somebody else, then it is their responsibility to make things right. Again, 3 movers came to Philadelphia to pick up my items. 2 of them were moving my items and packing it in the truck, while the 3rd person was placing stickers on every item that enters the truck and making up the list.

So, [redacted] can go ahead and make his determination but I am fed up with this process and will seek legal counsel on this matter. He can continue to quibble with how the picture of my broken fan looks. The fact of the matter is that he has all the materials he ever requested for and I have my correspondences to prove that anywhere.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

My furniture was delivered on time. I've had bad experiences with my furniture not getting their on time so it was definitely a good experience.
