Review: I tried to de-activate my "trial subscription" to this website and had some issues accomplishing this task. The company billed me for three months of service after the trial period was up. I called their customer service number and asked for their assistance to resolve this matter and they refused to refund the money saying the company had a strict "no refund" policy. Not only was their service less than perfect but, the means to resolve this is inappropriate. I really don't want anything except for my $48.00 back. I could understand if I had used their service for a month or so then had this issue but, it has only been a day. The fact they have a strict no refund policy also leads me to believe that once you sign up for their trial period they have your funds.Desired Settlement: I just want my $48.00 returned.

Response:

I apologize for any problems you have had with your account. Please be assured that your account was canceled and you were issued a refund of $48.00. The refund was processed immediately on our end, however please note that it may take a few days for the refund to be reflected on your bank statement.

A charge from beenverified.com showed up on my bank account recently. Immediately called the number shown on my statement and spoke with a CSR. Informed CSR that I had no idea what this charge was or what beenverified.com was about. He said that the subscription was purchased on 11/**/15 and has been used over 700 times, and multiple times that day. We went over the account info and I verified the card number used and was asked to verify my email. The email he had on file was not mine. I never subscribed to this service and have never used. The CSR was let know that my bank account is diligently checked daily to assure that no fraudulent charges like this are ever made and if there are, it is immediately caught.
The CSR stated that I had been charged for this subscription every month since last November and I assured him this was the first time I had seen this charge. He asked if I had checked my prior statements, and I again stated that I checked my bank account daily just because of the threat of fraudulent charges. He also again stated that the subscription had been used over 700 times and multiple times that day. I reiterated that was impossible by me.
The CSR asked what I would like done and was told that I wanted the account closed and my money refunded. He refunded the money and cancelled the account, giving me a reference number and stated he was sending a cancellation email. Which does no good since the email on file was not mine.
The refund has been received and I have the CSR's name & reference number if needed.
It was necessary for me to report my card to my bank and a new one was issued.
Just wanted everyone to know that while my money was refunded, the CSR was very argumentative and did not want to accept that I had not made the purchase.
When someone calls because their information has been fraudulently used, it would be highly recommended to be more helpful and respectful.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

On 12/*/15 we did a one time only report and paid for same. 30 days later they charged my bank account without my permission. The email I tried to send generated a message to me mail delivery failed. I called and they did refund the $22.86 back to [redacted] but not to my bank account. I further advised them that when they hit my bank account in January, I did not have funds for this and it generated a $36 NSF charge for me and they advised for me to take it up with my bank. Of course this would not have happened if they had not charged my account without my permission.

Review: Basically I gave the information the site asked for, full name, age and states I wanted information from. The site gave me several options and I choose the appropriate one. When the results come back it had my previous addresses and relatives. However, in the criminal area it had other [redacted]'s with different ages and middle names. When I called customer service I was told that the report collects information randomly and not specifically. I believe this is a form of consumer fraud. Misrepresentation!Desired Settlement: I want the service ended and no further charges to our credit card. The account that we set up is in my wife's name [redacted]. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, [redacted]

Hi There,

Review: Early January I tried out a 5 day trial offer of BeenVerified, but cancelled after I decided I did not want to continue with the service.

My January [redacted] credit card statement, listed a charge of $25.47 from BeenVerified on January **, 2014.

I called the company and received the cancelation confirmation number of [redacted]& refund confirmation number of [redacted]; the March statement listed a February 22nd charge of $25.47 and a February [redacted]credit of $25.47.

I called the company again and learned they will only issue a partial reversal of the charge, therefore, refusing to honor the cancellation that was made.Desired Settlement: Credit of $25.47 to [redacted] card, and removal of email; basically I just do not want hear from company again.

Response:

We have reviewed the customer's account. The account was canceled when she spoke with customer service on 02/**/14 and refunded one transaction of $25.47. The customer was provided a partial refund of $15.00 when she spoke with customer service on 3/**/2014. We have refunded the remaining balance of $11.47 today. All charges have now been refunded back to the customer and the account will not be billed again. Her email address has also been unsubscribed as she requested.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Watch out for this sneaky company. They lure you in with their free trials, and then add a recurring charge on your card. We've seen this before, right? However, the most unethical thing about what they're doing is that they don't email you a receipt. If you're not keeping a close eye on your bank statement, you could be incurring racking up over a hundred dollars in charges from this company.Desired Settlement: You guys need to at least email your customer the following messages:

1) A few days before the trial period is over, email the customer and say "You're trial is going to expire in X days. You will be charged if you don't cancel. Click here to cancel."

2) Cancellations should be able to be done easily online. Not everyone has time to call during business hours to cancel.

3) A few days before a customer's card is charged, you should email that customer and let them know that they will be charged on X date.

4) Customers should be emailed a receipt after each charge, with the amount.

Hi [redacted],

Review: I signed up for a 7 day trial on July *, 2014. It cost $1.00. I cancelled on day 6, July **, 2014. When my credit card bill came, I was charged for a whole additional month: $25.47. I called them and they said it was only a 5 day free trial and that I cancelled a day too late. I have read some reviews and it seems that I am not the only one who has been charged after I cancelled within the trial period.Desired Settlement: I would like the $25.47 refunded to my credit card that they charged.

Response:

Hi [redacted],

Review: Company did not disclose the limited search capabilities of its criminal background check. They want you to pay more by using one of their specialized services. They do not display openly their search limitations.Desired Settlement: Since I was unable to use their service to obtain vital information, I would like a refund. I only had the service for a few minutes, all I needed was a criminal records check and they could not produce an accurate report.

Response:

I apologize for any problems you have had with your account. Please be assured that your account was canceled and you were issued a refund of $19.62. The refund was processed immediately on our end, however please note that it may take a few days for the refund to be reflected on your bank statement.

Review: I signed up for a monthly subscription in January 2014. I used the service until May 2014 at which time I cancelled my account by phone. I spoke to a customer service rep, name unknown, who informed me at the time of cancellation that because I had not taken advantage of their free extras i.e. bankruptcy search, settlements and other services, I was able to use the account until June **, 2014. I had no intention of using the account past my cancellation date. On May ** 2014, my brother was hit by a car and the suspect ran. The suspect was apprehended by police and I learned the name of the suspect. I remembered what the customer service rep had told me about using the account through June. On June **, 2014 I used the beenverified website to obtain the suspects criminal history. I was able to determine he had 7 prior offenses thanks to the website. With that said, my debit card was charged $19.62 on June **, 2014. I was willing to let that one go due to the fact I used the service even though the CSR assured me my account was cancelled in May. On July **, 2014, my debit card was charged another $19.62. Again, on August **, 2014 my debit card was charged $19.62. I am not one to babysit my bank account so I did not realize the charges from beenverified until August **, 2014. Looking back, I discovered I was not charged $19.62 in May 2014. This is because I cancelled mid-May. The charges picked back up in June 2014. I emailed the company directly through their customer support email on September *, 2014 with no response to this date. I requested a refund of $58.86 for the fraudulent charges. On September *, 2014 I attempted to contact customer service by phone only to discover they have a new automated cancellation option. I cancelled my account by use of the automated cancellation service. I am still waiting for the refund.Desired Settlement: Refund money owed to me

Response:

Hi [redacted],

I sincerely apologize for any trouble you had with the account. We have not received any emails from your email address on the account, [redacted]. However I do see that you spoke with customer service on May [redacted]. Your service was extended for another 30 days and the representative informed you that you had until 6/**/2014 to cancel. The account was not canceled so you were billed for the monthly renewal charge. You canceled through our automated system on 9/*/2014 and have not been billed since 8/**/2014.

I understand that we did not have the information you were looking for and it sounds like you did not intend to continue. Please be assured your account is now canceled and I have processed a refund of your renewal charges for June July and August, totaling $58.86.

You should have received a separate email confirmation of the cancellation and refund. The refund was processed immediately on our end, however it may take a few business days to be reflected on your statement.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us at ###-###-#### or at [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: In May 2015 I signed up for the free trial with BeenVerified.com. Initially I did not cancel the subscription before the trial period expired. Later that fall (August) I noticed BeenVerified.com on my credit card statement and logged into my account to cancel it. BeenVerified.com does not have an automated process for canceling accounts and instead provides a phone number and email address. I called the number and cancelled my account. As of December 2015 they still have not cancelled my account and continued to bill me the entire time. Such a practice is dishonest at best and theft at worst, especially after they confirmed my account would be cancelled.Desired Settlement: Ideally, BeenVerified.com should refund the $68.58 they took from my account for the months of September - November. Barring that, I expect them to immediately cancel my account and desist from billing me any further.

Hi there,

Review: this company took from my gift card (american express) $19.62 for a one month subscription and never sent the information. I have sent them an email and they totally disregarded itDesired Settlement: I want my money back

Business

Response:

The charge the customer is seeing on his gift card is an authorization hold. The hold will be removed withing 2-3 business days of the transaction.

Review: When I originally made an order with the company it was not clear to me that I was making a monthly subscription choice and they would be billing me every month. I thought just paying once to have a month of service and then it would be done with unless I chose to pay again.Desired Settlement: I would like the current month that I have not used and was just billed today refunded.

Hello [redacted],

Review: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE AND SINCERELY HOPE ANYONE READING THIS COMPLAINT

DOES NOT INTERACT WITH BEENVERIFIED. In my opinion they are a RIPOFF that should be avoided completely.

Beenverified continued billing me after the monthly free trial. If at that time (they have since re-worded and changed their contract-billing procedures) It actually was on the trial period signup and IT WAS NOT CANCELLED after calling to cancel.

Beenverified has taken money out of my account from January to May for a total of over $91.44

Calling them (June **, 2015) this date failed to resolve the issue. In fact the person on the phone did not seem to care about my complaint and the response indicated so with an "I don't really care" attitude. It sounded as if he was used to this particular issue and was not concerned at all of the outcome.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE AND SINCERELY HOPE ANYONE READING THIS COMPLAINT

DOES NOT INTERACT WITH BEENVERIFIED. In my opinion they are a RIPOFF that should be avoided completely.Desired Settlement: Paying back the money paid for unused and unprovided services charged after the "trial period" ended.

Hi [redacted],

Review: On 4-*-15 I paid to have a search performed. Do do this, I had to create an account and pay for a one month membership. During this process, there was no way to opt out of continuous renewal and monthly billing. I tried to close the account on the same day. I realize that I am obligated to pay for the one month membership. I had to call their phone number many, many times before I was able to cancel the account. That is, I THINK the account has been canceled. I am writing to Revdex.com to make sure that my account has indeed been canceled, and that I will not be billed for anything again. The account number that they assigned to me is [redacted]. Thank you for helping to assure me that my account has indeed been canceled and that I will not be billed anymore.Desired Settlement: Assurance that the account has been cancelled and that I will not be billed for anything again

You still have access to run unlimited reports for the remainder of your paid time, until: 05/**/2015. You should have received a cancellation confirmation email, confirming that your account was cancelled. Review: We ordered a background check, particularly criminal history of self, and had to pay approximately $23.00 to receive the information. Next screen gave two items but required more money to download details and print report. Paid that but still required more money. End result is that we were able to print the screen only, no details and got nothing more than a promise of information for more money. Charges will be placed against a [redacted] in the name of my mother, with her permission. We are both adults over the age of 40. We then received email offering a copy of the report for yet more money. This email did not allow a written response, other than to accept the offer so we sent email back with the complaint in the subject line. We want all charges reversed on the credit card.Desired Settlement: Want the charge reversed on the credit card.

Review: In June 2012, I signed up on the internet for an account. They had a 7day free trial and I had the paperwork regarding this and my mother, [redacted], who is also on my account, called the phone number on my bank statement and talked to an agent and it was supposedly cancelled. I never used it or accessed the account because I assumed it had been cancelled. My mother happened to look on my account statement this past month and I had been charged again. She called them back and talked to [redacted] first and all he would offer was a refund of $192. I asked him to look at the activity on the account from the beginning and he could see there was NO activity at all. My mother also talked to his supervisor, [redacted], and he told her the same thing. I should have a refund of $576 and they won't give me the fair amount. If I had not thought the account was closed as we were told in July, 2012, it would have had activity. They admit there was no activity, but, will not refund me the full amount. This is shady business, in my opinion. They should have kept their word and cancelled the account in July2012. It isn't my fault an agent didn't make notes on the account. He told my mother they couldn't refund the original $48, but, it would not be charged anymore and I just now find out they have never stopped taking the money for this bogus business. I trusted them to do what they said they would do in July 2012 and now I find out I have been scammed,Desired Settlement: I want a full refund from July 2012 until the present. They have been taking my money and me thinking they had cancelled the account,

Hi [redacted],

Review: I searched online to find a company the will allow you to search criminal records and I found BeenVerified. The service seemed real considering all of the positive reviews so I started an account on July **, 2013. The online service stated that you can search for files on a 7 day trail basis. I signed up because of their motto 'We don’t want you to ask yourself “if it’s worth it” to run a search. Upon completion of the sign up, I was prompted to enter my credit card and to pick between 4 payment options. I decided on the monthly charge of $19.86. I did a quick search to verify the validity of the online service. I typed my brother's name thinking I would see something on his file for a criminal record because I know for a fact that he has a [redacted] on his criminal record. The results came back with no hits. I searched him again and again and still no hit. I then noticed that you had to pay an upgrade charge of $9.95 to see felonies so I paid the upgrade charge and conducted the search again. The results still came back with no hits. I am now puzzled so I called the costumer service desk. I informed her of my actions and what I was trying to do. She told me that maybe it's not showing up because it's over 7 years since the felony. I told her no it's not, it's only 5 years old. I also told her that this feels like a scam and I felt like I was getting ripped off. She told me she could refund me the upgrade charge but not the monthly charge. I told her I don't understand because the site ensured me that I would be able to get a copy of the records and it didn't. She them put me on hold and she told me she can refund the upgrade charge and $10.00 of the monthly charge for a totally refund of $19.95. I still don't understand why I had to pay for a service that they advertised online and the service didn't work?Desired Settlement: I would like refund of the remaining balance of $9.86.Finally I would like BeenVerified to provide a better product or close their fake business for good.
