Regards,The business is requiring "active "cancellation, without any notification or receipt of confirmation on billing - ever.  I have this same style of service with other vendors - and the reputable ones stay in touch and contact you , send receipts - especially when they see you have no activity after their initial 'trail' engagement. This is a deceptive business practice, that  preys on the knowledge that customers are inundated with these types of offers daily.No communication from this vendor for over 5  months - when I had ZERO activity on their site - is a breach of trust and an irresponsible business practice.  It's an intended ignorance.Their trial product (example resume) was a pitiful, basic resume  - which is why I did not ever return to their site.It would be different if I were the only customer complaining about their tactics, but you can search this firm and find hundreds of similar laments. This is an unscrupulous business hiding behind their fine print.They warrant a reprimand at the minimum, and ideally should be forced to change their business practices.I stand by my complaint.

 This company does not clearly state any of the necessary information but instead hides it in fine print in order to attempt to mislead users. The website is advertised as free and is even stated as free on their homepage. It is not until the user spends a lot of time and effort creating their resume that the website makes it aware that you must indeed pay. There is not free option like the response states. Even a representative that I spoke to admitted that yes, there is no free option. Other companies I have used respect a refund if the user cancels the account shortly after it is renewed. This company expects me to of gone down in the depth of all their fine print in order to acquire this information. I tried to get a partial refund shortly after cancelling my account, but at this point I demand a full refund for all the time and effort they have taken away from me.

Hello, When the customer subscribed to our Trial subscription, He/She accepted our terms of agreement which stated that they would be receiving our subscription services and that the Trial would auto-renew into a Monthly subscription on a specific date. Our services are not a one time purchase,...

but an ongoing subscription. They had the option to cancel at any time during the 14 day trial period to prevent the auto-renewal and in order to avoid future charges. Resume Genius has completed processing the refund for $39.95. Your credit should appear on your account within 5 business days; however, depending upon the practices of your financial institution, the process can take as many as 30 days to show on your credit card or bank statement. It does not surprise me that Resume Builder was able to respond swiftly and with significant detail including screen shots.  Clearly defending their questionable business practices is something that they are called upon to do regularly.  So, let me present my screen shots as well.I invite you to visit their website.  (SCREEN SHOT 1) Page 1 in large letters it says “Free Resume Builder”.  No mention of any charges, even small ones.  I took the “1 minute tour”.  Again no mention of charges, just a commercial for how Resume Builder can help applicants set themselves apart in a competitive job market.  If you choose to pursue this method of resume construction you will have no choice but to begin completing data that will populate their format.  The first area to enter information contains this line, “ Register for a free account to receive lifetime access to your resume”.  Again, the F word.   (SCREEN SHOT 2)Once you enter your data, you will have to hit Download Resume Now button to proceed.  This is the first time that you can see anything about pricing.  There are two options.   (SCREEN SHOT 3) The 14 days full access states that it is $1.95.  It’s not free! But if you have already entered all your data, you will probably want to proceed.  Read down further.  The column describing 14 days full access says unlimited number of resumes and cover letters, unlimited download to MS Word and & PDF, after 14 days auto renews $39.95 per month, pay as you go service.  Cancel anytime.  Hmmm….automatically renews each month.  Shouldn’t this be at the top in BOLD LETTERS?  Shouldn’t there be some kind of reminder?  Pay as you go.  They make it sound so pleasant as if they were doing us a favor.The next screen talks about free again!  “Register to save your work and access it anytime FREE”.  (SCREEN SHOT 4)Please review the terms and conditions.  Are you kidding me?  This screen shot just does not do it justice.  (SCREEN SHOT 5)  It is very, very long.   My mortgage contract is shorter.  Is it realistic to expect a customer to review in detail before they click to move forward?  I think not.Here is what is curious to me.  When I went on the site after I saw what happened to my daughter, I gave only enough info to investigate the site.  I had to give my email address.  I received multiple emails urging me to complete the process.  If the same effort was placed into reminding customers of their trial period expiration, there would be problem.Clearly this site is designed to deceive.  If you google free resume templates, there it is.  It states “free resume templates”.  You cannot find out cost until you enter data.  There is no effort on the part of the company to email you info about your 14 day trial.  The terms and conditions are extremely lengthy.  And when you contact their customer service department you are given the standard talking points and reminded that you are legally liable.  When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told she was in a meeting.  Based on other complaints that I have seen on line, this is a common practice.  You can only pursue the matter further by emailing “Betty”.  Then you receive a form letter email strikingly similar to the response you received from them.  They did not respond to me when I asked how they could justify $120 in charges for someone that visited their site one time.   How can a company call their service free repeatedly and then rely on a click to represent acceptance of their multiple page terms and conditions?  This is a highly predatory business model.  While it may pass someone’s concept of legal, it is highly unethical.  I wonder how many jobless individuals have been ripped off by Resume Genius.  I think we should expect more from companies than to prey on unsuspecting consumers.

The only way my complaint will be resolved is to have $39.95 credited to my credit card which this response still refuses to do.  I have received nothing for the $39.95, do not want anything, not interested in the service, and want as many people as possible to know not to get suckered in to unwittingly signing up for this complete rip off.  There is no telling how many people have been scammed out of money for this service.  Note on the 4 documents they supplied, only one mentions $39.95..... and it is in the small print.  That's what they do.  They trick people into not realizing that they are signing up for a monthly service and then hide behind their website small print disclaimer to deny refunds when people recognize what's happening.  Just because something is legal does not make it right.  It's called plain old GREED.  For reference, I am not alone in getting ripped off by this company.  Here are other posts related to the same thing.... [redacted]/Wilmington-Delaware-19801/RGO-Resumes-RGO-Technologies-I-used-RGO-res... final word to RGO is this....  We never intended to sign up for any monthly service and thought we were paying $1.95 for a resume on your website.  We never used the service beyond the one time, nor do we intend to.  We never saw anything about a $39.95 monthly fee until we saw the charge on my credit card.  We contacted RGO immediately and were informed that we had unwittingly signed up for a monthly service.  We politely explained to RGO that we never saw anything about a $39.95 monthly service and did not want it.   We respectfully requested that $39.95 simply be refunded to my credit card.  That's when I realized what was really going on.  It costs RGO nothing to refund my money for a service I do not want nor will I use, but they refused and cited policy, website disclaimer, etc. etc.  This is a legal money grabbing scam.  Any decent company would have gladly issued a refund under these circumstances.  Should RGO do the right thing and return my $39.95, I will gladly post the result.

Hello, This is unacceptable, They can look at the logs and see I never logged in after my initial $1.59 purchase, and I can not be sure that the site stated anything about a subscription, can they please provide proof that back when I made the purchase of the template, that the screen looked as it did today, because I do not recall it having anything about a subscription.
