This Resume Genius company is blatantly a scamTheir perverse business ethics and practices demonstrate this clearly.I explicitly agreed to pay $for access to digital templates to create a resumeHowever they posit that, due to their terms of service, I implicitly agreed to be registered for a $per month subscription to a service I had no idea I was even subscribed toI would like to emphasize that during the months of my so called subscription I received no notice or contact from the company in questionNo receipt of charges incurred or notification was e-mailed to me that my subscription status had been upgradedWhile it may be "easy" to unsubscribe to the service, a casual search on this institution reveals a history of unethically, if not illegally, scamming customers out of their money. If they adamantly refuse to grant a refund, and they have the legal recourse to do so, I find that there are very few options open to meHowever, I think that this category of business practice and the magnitude of their customer dissatisfaction merits a change in their business policyA timely and accurate billing statement must be issued to subscribed customers, so that others like me will not be unknowingly paying for a service, and they must be more explicit about automatically signing up customers for their subscription service, or even better, not automatically subscribing individuals for a ludicrous monthly payment and an even more ludicrous service

In all correspondence to date, Resume Genius has failed to acknowledge nor address any specifics of my inquiries. Rather, in an inherently dismissive manner, they have only ever replied using a redundant, template response.The only argument and defense the company has ever made has been that once your subscription ends, they’re going to charge your credit card, and under no circumstances will they refund you.The issues at hand however, for which the company has not addressed, nor even so much as acknowledged, are as follows:I.  Within Terms of Service, under Refund Policy, company states “provides a full refund to customers who are still within their 14-day trial subscription term”II. Within Terms of Service, there is no definition explicitly stating the definition of “14-day trial subscription term”III.  On the attached Plans and Pricing document, company states explicitly both “14 DAYS FULL ACCESS” and “After 14 days”. The expectation given her to consumers is that their trial periods will last for the entirety of this duration, and then auto-renew on the following day.IV. My subscription started on 10/12, and was cancelled on 10/26. Per points II & III, the expectation is that 10/26 is still within the trial subscription period, and would still qualify per the Refund Policy Terms.The stance that the company has taken is that the trial period ended at a specific time on 10/26, rather than lasting the entirety of the day, therefore despite cancelling on the 14th day, this is too late.To quote:“Our system is set up by the date and the time you paid for the 14 DayTrial, so even if you're off by 1 minute our system will still chargefor the whole month subscription. The system needs a set time to trackwhen the 14 Day Trial subscription will end.”This stance, however, violates multiple Federal Trade Commission guidelines, specifically:I.  misrepresenting any product or service or the terms and conditions associated with any offer, specifically including claims of "free," "risk-free," or "trial offer;"II. failing to clearly disclose the terms and conditions of any offer, including refund terms, before requesting consumers' payment information;There are numerous areas in which the terms are misrepresented, and consumers are left with the expectation that their trial will last the entirety of the expected calendar range. Not only are consumers expressly mislead, but in no area, not even within the terms of service, is it disclosed that the trial period will end at a specific time within the 14th day.Consumers who use trial period offers have the expectation that they’ll be able to use those services for the entirety of the expected duration, as measured in calendar dates, and then make a decision to either renew or not. If they’re actually giving a service an earnest evaluation, there’s no reason for the consumer to cancel pre-maturely, which makes them all the more susceptible to these sorts of practices.This strategy is set up with the express intent of defrauding consumers by misleading them into believing their trial lasts the remainder of the 14th day, and then charging them regardless. The fact that Resume Genius is so adamant about not issuing refunds is a testament to that, which is very surprising given that the product in question is a SaaS (Software as a service).If you think any of my points are unfair or incorrect, please, by all means address them and substantiate your arguments with actual language from the Terms of Service.Regards,

My complaint is that the representative stated MULTIPLE times that there is a NO REFUND POLICY. The website states that you may ask for a refund during the 14 day Trial Subscription but it does NOT state that they will ABSOLUTELY NOT give refunds after that this period.People have circumstances and crisises that prevent them following through with their intentions. I reiterate - I had MULTIPLE crisises since I signed up for the 14 day Trial. I didn't have a chance to check my credit card statements for almost 2 months! Because of my circumstances, I am still requesting a full refund. I did not use the service after the intital 14 days. I would have canceled if circumstances hadn't put me on high alert for my family's health. In this day and age, a good company makes allowances for people's lives and even their mistakes. A GREAT company has less greed for profit and more heart for their customers.
