Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files and our records show that [redacted] signed up for our Cover Letter Builder services on June 1, 2015. The copy online clearly provided [redacted] with...

a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. [redacted] chose to accept our offer for 14 day full access, which automatically renews monthly. On the page where [redacted] made that selection, immediately adjacent to the choice of subscriptions, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that the 14 day premium access ''automatically renews at $39.80 per month on the 15th day''. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on June 16, 2015 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s access to our services and reiterating one more time that ''Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically on June 16, 2015 to our recurring monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' Accordingly, on June 9, 2015 [redacted]'s card was charged $39.80 for the applicable month of service.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a refund of 1 monthly charge totaling $39.80. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $39.80 as of July 20, 2015.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 10, 2015/08/31) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Although the business is correct in restating their business practice, the issue was never concerning the policy which they have put in place. The complaint, which has been resolved, was their denial of the possibility to refund some or all of the product cost upon cancellation. The online representative repeatedly denied that a refund was even a possibility and that has clearly been shown to be incorrect. The representative had also refused to offer a supervisor's availability for resolution and had closed the interaction despite my request for resolution. They have covered their practice from a legal point of view, but the practice of denying partial or full refunds is a clear attempt to profit from an otherwise unnecessary subscription. To function as a business, they have covered their ground. To function as a better business, there is much to be desired. Thank you to the Revdex.com for your assistance in following up on the company's unfortunate practices.

[redacted] with a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. [redacted] chose to accept our offer for the annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. On the page where [redacted] made that selection, the offer clearly states that to subscribe to a full access membership at $7.95 per month, [redacted] would have to "pay upfront" and the membership "renews annually." Additionally, on the sales page, immediately adjacent to where [redacted] entered her credit card information, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that "by paying only $95.40, you will be entitled to all of these benefits for the next year." This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel this annual membership within 14 days to receive a full refund of her payment. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s Annual Membership subscription with an upfront payment of $95.40, and monthly payments of $7.95 thereafter.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer is willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a prorated refund of her payment in the amount of $79.50. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $79.50 on May 6, 2014.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
The copy online does not CLEARLY provide choices for full access.  The way the website is set up is very deceptive.  Here's a link to over 300 customers who've had the same experience as me: [redacted].  It looks like what we should do is file a class action lawsuit and not just stop with the [redacted].  This company has been deceiving people out of money for years.  The "offer" does not clearly and conspicuously state that the 14 day premium access automatically renews at $39.80 per month.  The link that you click on to "continue" is in a smaller box of information that says NOTHING about a subscription.  You think you are just paying $1.95 to download/print your resume.  It's NOT clear that you are signing up for a service.  If it were clear, there wouldn't be so many similar complaints against this company.  I did NOT receive an email confirming this "acceptance to subscription" as they claim, however I have been receiving emails from them ever since I canceled my "service".  That makes perfect sense!
They have FREE, FREE, FREE plastered all over their website.  That draws you in and then only after spending time building your resume do they let you know you'll be charged a fee if you actually want to print the resume that you've spent hours editing.  I'm sure most customers feel the same way I did when I saw this notice.  Now I've spent time creating my resume only to find out I have to pay if I actually want to do anything with it.  So, I went ahead and paid the $1.95 to have access to all the hard work I'd put into it.  They should take the FREE, FREE, FREE off their website because it's NOT free. I'm also tired of their patronizing attitude and having them say "great customer service is very important to us."  BS!  If great customer service is so important, they would refund all of the money for a service that I clearly have not used.  I know they can access my account and see that I never used the "service" after I paid the $1.95 fee to print my resume.  I shouldn't have to pay for something that I didn't receive.  I read where another customer said LiveCareer could clearly see that they hadn't accessed the account, but they were only willing to give them a 2 month refund.  So, I should be happy that I've refunded *something* even though I never used the service?!?  This is an incredibly deceptive company who should not be allowed to have such a fraudulent business model. Consumers need to be protected from this company.  I don't consider it a "courtesy" that they only refunded part of my money.

Sincerely,[redacted]

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve this complaint from [redacted]. We have reviewed our files using the email address [redacted] provided in her complaint, and our records show that [redacted] used our Resume-Now services on February 17, 2015.
After asking each user for their name and email address, the Resume Builder gives them the option of uploading an existing resume and/or choosing a resume template to use in creating a new resume. After proceeding through these first two steps, the user comes to a page saying "Congratulations! You now have access to all of our free services." On this page, the offer clearly and conspicuously states that one of the free services offered is the ability to "Download the .txt version of your resume." [redacted] chose to click continue at the bottom of this page and begin creating a resume. Accordingly, upon completing her resume, [redacted] was given the option to either download the .txt version of the resume, or upgrade for instant access to all premium features.
Although our premium features are not offered free of charge, LiveCareer was willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her with a week of complimentary access to our premium features.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

Although I was not reimbursed for the full amount of the 4 months, I will accept being reimbursed half the amount as it was my fault for not reading the fine print.
I do still believe that this is a sneaky, and unprofessional way to scam people into paying for the subscription. Just look at the thousands of complaints about this site all over the internet...

[redacted] with a choice of full access for 14 days at a discounted rate, which automatically renews to monthly access for a monthly fee, or an annual subscription that is pro-rated at a lower rate per month but which is paid upfront for access to the services all year long. In addition, on the purchase confirmation page it is also clearly disclosed that this subscription will ''begin immediately and renew on March 15, 2014 to our monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' This page also provides information on how [redacted] could cancel before this monthly charge. Finally, [redacted] was also sent an email to the email address provided to us on the same day confirming [redacted]'s access to our services and reiterating one more time that ''Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically on March 15, 2014 to our recurring monthly service at $39.80 per month.'' Accordingly, on March 15, 2014 the card [redacted] provided was charged $39.80 for the applicable month of service.
Although our monthly charges are not refundable, LiveCareer is willing to make an exception for [redacted] and provide her a refund of 1 monthly charge totaling $39.80. Our customer service team refunded [redacted] the amount of $39.80 on March 24, 2014.
Additionally, [redacted] mentioned in her complaint that the LiveCareer customer service agent she spoke to was rude and unprofessional. We greatly value our customers, and want to provide the best possible customer service. As such, we will review the phone call and the customer service agent will be coached if necessary.
We trust this addresses any concerns you may have.

I am happy they refunded the money but it does not explain how they got my wife's credit card number to make this charge. I do not have her card info and do not use it. I was on her laptop which she use to buy things. All I know is they was able to get her credit card info to make this charge.
