I scheduled a "precision tune-up" for my gas furnace for 11/8/for the fee of $ The technician arrived, made a visual observation and took some readings with a digital voltmeter He proceeded to tell me that the blower motor bearings were leaking oil as well as the exhaust fan bearings, which signaled that they were beginning to fail He checked the blower motor starter, and told me that it was "out of spec" He quoted me a price in writing of $to replace all three and added at the bottom of the sheet "Maybe it's time to update to a new more efficient system." The following day, I had the firm that installed the furnace come out and double check these findings The technician stated that there was nothing wrong with either blower motor, and that the bearings wouldn't leak oil when they were failing anyway He stated that the blower motor starter was not out of spec and that the previous technician couldn't have known if it was anyway, because the value of the sta
