Care.com is the worst company I have ever worked with besides my bank. I signed up for the upgrade of $26 back in January. The next day they closed my account AFTER they took my money!!! The refused to give me any legitment reason for closing my account and said they have every right to close my account without reason. They ROBBED ME and got away with it!!! Regardless of if it's only $26 that's my hard earned money! They also ruined my chances of potential jobs because they refuse to reopen my account. I have done research and more 500 people on our Facebook page that complains about care.com, have come forward about care.com scamming them too!! This is absolutely absurd and ridiculous that this is legal. They STOLE my money!! ZERO STARS!!!!!!

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations. I noticed that you upgraded your Care.com Membership through our mobile app using your iOS mobile device. As an iOS mobile user, your Care.com subscription is billed and managed directly through your iTunes account. You will need to contact iTunes directly to request a refund. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

I had an interview with someone and we talked afterwords for about a week was never offered the job. I got job offer that was better. I told the original mom that I was on the market anyone and she wrote a negative review. The review went on to say that I left them with no time to find a replacement(baby wasn't due for another 2 months) and that I was very nasty to her. Care has refused to take down the review. I will never use care again, they don't care about the caregivers just the parents.

Care.com Response

I'm sorry to hear you have experienced this. We suggest trying to speak to the member to come to a resolution, as this can sometimes result in them asking the review be removed. You also have the ability to respond to the review to provide your side of the story, and we highly encourage you to take advantage of this option. You can also work on receiving additional positive reviews from other previous employers, as well as family and friends, to help make your profile stronger.

I did not upgrade my membership, and thank goodness I didn't. Their web site is not secure and your personal information is fair game. Now I can't delete my account. Since I joined, I have received numerous fishing e-mails supposedly from the people I applied with requesting more information that has nothing to do with the job and I've received scam calls. I'm not certain I would trust this company enough to allow a back ground check. I think the real purpose is to solicit and keep your personal information. This business doesn't seem legitimate, avoid!!

Care.com Response

I'm so sorry for your frustrations. We encourage all members to only communicate with individuals who contact you directly through the messaging system on the site. If you have any information about the individuals who contacted you, please let us know so our Safety Team can research further.

I had trouble disabling my account after I found a nanny. After thinking I disabled the account (which allows a user to keep her profile saved but deactivate it until another caregiver is needed) I found out this week after a close look at my bank statement that I have been charged over $50/month for the past 10 months by care.com. It is apparent I have not been on the site in months but that I also did not successfully disable my account. I am fairly savvy with online shopping; I am sure less experienced users and caregivers have had the same problem. Each message I send to care.com to get help disabling the account and inquire about a refund generates an automatic response back to me that basically reads"this was in the terms of your agreement, deal with it." It also advises me to work via *** to disable the account. I would not recommend this business to a friend after struggling to identify the correct way to disable my account.

All of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled and this is stated on the enrollment and upgrade pages, as well as in our Terms of Use. I apologize if you misunderstood our billing policy.

Care.com is awful. I am a caregiver and have been a memeber for 5 years. I recently bought the premium account and got a background check (blackground check was clean) and they terminated my account for no reason what so ever.

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations.

They cancelled my subscription and would not give an explanation. My guess is because I gave reviews of Nannies I interviewed. I wrote honest reviews to help other families. Most reviews were 5 stars for women I interviewed and who it just did not work out. Those who did not show up and did not contact me to reschedule or cancel I gave a 1 star, as they wasted my time and I did not have a lot of time to fine help

Customer Response

After calling to find out why they cancelled my membership, they told me they would give me a refund and have a manager call me. Neither has occurred

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations. I do hope this was able to be resolved for you and I wish you all the best!

I am appalled at how I was treated by care.com. I set up my profile, and then paid for my background check (quite expensive), as I knew I had a clear background. Dismissed charges populated on the background check from 2011. I was moving and my SUV was packed and I was unable to locate my purse when pulled over for speeding. Yes, I was speeding. So at that moment, I was charged with not having my license or proof of insurance, as I could not even open my glove compartment due to the car that full (lesson learned). The officer was not all that concerned, and told me to go to court and show my ID and insurance, and it would be dismissed, and he sent me on my way. Not only were those two charges dismissed, so was the speeding ticket. That is the ONLY thing that shows on my background, dismissed traffic charges. Yet, Care.com thought that should be reason enough to suspend my account. Not only that, when I emailed them regarding this, I received a copy and pasted response. Now here's more information about myself. I am a federal employee, as of two years ago, and I drive for Uber. I would not have been able to obtain employment with the government or Uber, had there been something legitimate on my background check. Yet, Care.com treated me like a criminal, and then just dismissed my concerns. I've yet to get a legit response back from them. I've requested twice that they delete my profile, photos and personal information, yet it's still published. I want no connection with Care.com, but they have only responded with a copy and paste response to call the given 800# if I had questions about my background check.

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations. Care.com policy prevents members from using the service if any case appears on the results of a background check. Unfortunately, no exceptions will be made to these terms.

My personal information was stolen from this website and now I am receiving fraudulent text messages that claim to be the company trying to setup employment. The first time it happened I cancel my account with Care.com and explained why. They never wrote back to say they were looking into it. Today - weeks after I closed my account - I received two more text messages, each from a different number claiming to be Care.com. I have sent them images of the texts with phone numbers in all messages. I am very upset and do not trust this company is safeguarding the information of its clients. I had every private setting hiding my information from the public - and even other clients. Their internal servers were compromised and they are doing nothing to inform their users how it is being handled. Shameful. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

Care.com Response

I'm sorry to hear you experienced this. If your phone number was ever showing on your profile at any time during your membership, they could have received the information at that time. I apologize for any inconvenience you have been caused.

On 06-24-2017 I authorized payment for a one month subscription to their service to find a housekeeper. On my bank statement there are three separate charges for the same amount ($25.00) Then this evening I receive a cancellation. This after having made paymment and in good faith expected a single month of service not a cancellation.. I expect full restitution.

Something has changed with Care.com in the past few years. It seems to have gotten greedy by charging on both ends . You pay to hire and you pay to be hired. If that's not all when you DO pay to be able to see a response , no one responds? I wrote them and said I paid for PREMIUM what happens to the jobs I wrote to before the "premium paid"? Will they now see that I applied or do I REAPPLY? and they wrote back I need to be a PREMIUM and not BASIC. They took my money through my credit card but STILL consider me BASIC on their end. They went DOWNHILL BEWARE !!!!

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations. Please be assured that applying to Pet Care jobs does now require credits however, all other jobs are free to apply. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

Absolutely terrible customer service. The only suggestions they had to offer was to spend more money. Can I leave 0 stars?

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations and the experience you had on the site.

This is effectively a scam and once you sign up to view the listings- they ask for the credit card as a reference should you move forward with continued use and their placement services. However, what they do is begin a monthly charge immediately. I did not use their services more than a cursory 1 day review and I did not engage anyone at anytime through care.com. I made numerous attempts to cancel was assured that this would happen. It did not. I attempted to cancel and I was unable to retrieve even a mandatory 3 month credit until I had AMEX intervene directly. There is an ongoing disputation by the cc company to retrieve many additional months of erroneous charges.
WARNING! STAY AWAY!
THERE ARE MANY OTHER OPTIONS IN YOUR LOCAL AREA.- USE THEM. APPLICANTS WILL GENERALLY LIST THROUGH MORE THAN ONE SERVICE- USE ALTERNATIVES!

Care.com Response

All of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled and this is stated on the enrollment and upgrade pages, as well as in our Terms of Use. I apologize if you misunderstood our billing policy.

Going into using care.com, I thought it would be a great way to find families who need babysitting care or pet care (which I preferred). Recently, they added this "great" feature in which all pet care applications require four credits to apply. Each credit costs $0.90, which isn't expensive, but I refuse to pay money to apply to a job. The reason I'm applying for a job is to get money, so why would I pay money for that? Backwards logic.
Then I thought, "well, I'll just contact them online and show my disapproval of this new development." There is no way to contact them from the US online, which made me even madder. That's not good customer service. To make matters worse, I called the customer service number, only to go through a series of automated voice responses and no real people! I'm so fed up with care.com and their "customer service"; don't plan on trying to find a job here unless you're willing to pay to find a job.

Care.com Response

Applying to pet care jobs does now require credits. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. I'm also sorry you were unable to reach a customer service representative with your concerns. I will be sure to share your feedback with the correct department. Thank you and I hope you have a great day!

It appears that this service is a scam.

The site asked me to pay $39 for the privilege of hiring help at an hourly rate that is advertised to be usually less than $20 per hour. But that is a lie.

What they don't say is that their people don't charge by the hour. They charge by the job. One of them quoted me a price of $190 to clean my two-bedroom apartment. Assuming that would take about four hours, that is a rate of $47.50 per hour, on top of the $39 fee.

So, getting help this weekend for 4 hours would not cost me $80 ($20 per hour times four hours). It would cost me $229. The hourly rate, inclusive of everything, would have come to $57.25.

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations. Please note that we are not an agency and pay rates and the matter of payment is handled between members directly. I apologize for any inconvenience you have been caused.

I went on the site because I was looking for daycare services for my children . I proceeded to make an account and received a message stating I could not make an account to email them to resolve issue. I then received an email stating I was denied for a previous background check. Which I was confused about because I never submitted a background check and also my background has absolutely nothing on it . I am a federal govt employee so there no way possible to have a record . I replied and was told the decision is final and irreversible . I feel as if I was dosctimated upon for some reason and they just didn't care about my concerns . Everyone needs to know how rude and nasty they are it's not acceptable .

Care.com Response

I'm sorry for your frustrations.

This company is now a rip off charging for pet sitting jobs to apply for. You have to buy credits and then use them to apply for a job. The application has to be denied within seven days and if not you don't receive any credits back. Then if you have credits left(less than 4 because that's what is needed for every job you apply for) they expire too! What a scam. Will never use this site ever again I sent them an email with my concerns and received one back telling my they closed my account!

Care.com Response

My daughter signed up for care.com to become a childcare provider on 7 May 2017. I purchased the premium service for her with my credit card for $78.00. On 8 May 2017 she received an email
"Dear ***,
We are writing to inform you that we have terminated your Care.com membership.
Under our terms of service, Care.com has the right, among other things and in its sole discretion, to terminate your membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice."
They will not respond to either of us and have not refunded the $78.00.

BEWARE - They'll continue to charge your credit card without your approval.
TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES & POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - I have used Care.com from time to time over the past 5 years -but only ever for one month period. Then, out of the blue, they starting charging my credit card company for few months - I tried to get to correct the error but they wouldnt -what a scam. Thankfully my credit card company reversed the charges. I wrote a letter to their CEO and will continue to tell everyone I know to BEWARE!
