Care.com Reviews (%countItem)

If I could I would rate it a negative 50 million stars. I got scammed in 2014/2015 leaving me in the negative on my account and their customer services is horrible.. back then I tried ro leave a review on here but couldnt but they did nothing to help me with my scam issues. Im still getting texts about scam babysitting or dog sitting jobs. They dont do backgroumd checks and thats how people are still getting scammed. Never use them and they don't deserve the grade of an A- but instead a F. Its sad they let scammers on their site to prey on college or young adults trying to make extra income.

Care.com Response • Feb 18, 2019

Care.com does not share personal information, however we would provide any information needed if it was requested by law enforcement through the proper channels. Any texts claiming they are from Care.com would be a phishing scam, members on the site do not have access to personal information unless another member chose to share it with them.

Wish I could give 0 stars. After a negative and false review on my account from a crazy mother, I cancelled my childcare profile as it was negatively affecting finding clients. Care.com then proceeded to ban me for life. Their customer service is awful and they have absolutely NO regard for providers who are using their platform to make a living. It’s disappointing to say the least. I’ve never heard of being “banned of life” for protecting my reputation as a child care provider. Would recommend families & childcare providers post jobs elsewhere- don’t give them your business!

Care.com Response • Feb 07, 2019

As mentioned, a member posted a negative review and she closed the account and opened another on to avoid others seeing that negative review. We do not allow review dodging. Once an account is closed for review dodging, the caregiver will not be allowed to enroll again.

Care.com basically takes your money, doesn't allow you to put your information on your profile. Couldn't verify my email so I applied to over 20 jobs and it was not visible. So the customers looking for services can not email me, call me or send me a message. Paid $45 and for what. But you receive messages to upgrade and allow people to view your profile but if you can not receive or are visible your applying for jobs to no one... all their emails back to you for support are general templates not answering the correct questions.
So annoying!!

Care.com Response • Feb 07, 2019

The issue with posting the profile was because it did not have the required number of sentences and did not have any information concerning the experience with this type of care. I apologize that there was difficulty verifying your email address, however this would not stop a member you applied to from being able to send you a message through our secure messaging system. Care.com does not share any personal information. If you want the member you applied to have your information, you could provide it yourself in your application message. It also appears that at one point, there were two active accounts on the Care.com site and this will definitely cause confusion. Finally, reviewing the emails sent in for support, it appears that your questions were answered, but it may have been the different accounts were causing some misunderstandings.

Care.com is an awful company! They do NOTHING to keep their members safe. My daughter was going to interview with a woman that ended up being extremely unstable.
The woman not only lied to care.com, but threatened my daughter and yelled at me, screaming and cursing at the top of her lungs (in front of her toddlers).
She has been stocking me and leaving nasty texts.
Both my daughter and I presented proof of our case in writing to care.com, yet no-one will respond to either of us. Instead they just cancel both of our accounts.
Will be looking for a lawyer to help us in this matter.

Care.com Response • Feb 04, 2019

There isn't any indication that the information for this has been provided. We had reached out to them previously for more information.

My daughter , *** sent two separate emailes to a person named Andrew.
I , *** spoke with a woman named Mary 4 or 5 times.
I was under the impression that Andrew was going to call me as I told Mary that *** is deaf/ hard of hearing. When I spoke with Mary , I told her that and we decided to put the call on speaker phone so *** could hear. That is when she gave her permission for me to speak on her behalf. Later that morning , Mary said that no one would be calling me but that *** should reply to the link on her email. She did that twice. I would like to be given the courtesy of being given a call and being sent an appropriate email to ( once again submit our proof) of this woman’s harassment.
Thank you in advance

Over the course of 10 years, they extracted almost $1000 from my credit card. at first $39 a month, I cancelled, then annually. I did go online once in that transition to annual, briefly used it, then cancelled as I knew their practices. Then it appeared a year later. They do not make cancelling easy. But they make automatic auto bill too easy, and don't offer refunds at all. I can't take my credit card off the account, the info is locked. My credit card expired in the years they took money, and they contacted the credit card to inquire for updated expiration date (but didn't ask me) and updated the account. it's a predatory service. yes, I should have watched my account better to catch fraud but this is how they do it. AVOID this service at all costs. Use quad jobs instead.
It is despicable that Revdex.com can give a A- rating to a service that has hundreds of reviews, averaging 1 our of 5. Think of how bad you have to be to average 1 when 1 is the minimum you can enter.
Note, that Care.com will write some happy thing below about how I didn't understand how they bill. I certainly understood, I just spent 30min on the phone with them to make sure the account is scorched earth at this point. Everyone who writes these reviews knows how to pay a bill.

Care.com Response • Feb 02, 2019

During the course of this membership, it was upgraded 3 separate times and the member either downgraded to stop the billing themselves or sent an email to stop the billing. The auto-renew feature was explained to the member in 2015 when she sent an email about her billing. The auto-renew feature is clearly stated on the upgrade page. The account was upgraded again for an annual membership in the summer of 2017 and auto-renewed in the summer of 2018. The member reached out to us recently through email and chat concerning this.

I am trying to remove my credit card info and it won't let me. And there is no other option like calling them. They are clearly trying to make it very difficult to stop the automatic billing. I really hate it when sites do this; it feels very shady.

Care.com Response • Feb 02, 2019

As an online company, we do utilize our online presence to the maximum. We can be reached by sending a private message through ***, a Direct message through ***, and an email can be sent to [email protected]. Also, our toll-free number is . A representative of our Member Care Call Center Team can be reached between the hours of 10am-6pm EST Monday through Friday, and they are glad to address your concerns.

The company does a very poor job screening their housekeepers. The profiles state the hourly prices and when you interview them, the prices are much higher. You post a job and require experience. Then the replies are from non-experienced young girls looking for work during college and not experienced housekeepers. Some do not show up and others after a couple of cleanings raise their price on you. Not all of the individuals we interviewed were US citizens and here illegally. I will never use this company again.

Care.com Response • Feb 02, 2019

It is clearly stated on the site that Care.com doesn't employ or endorse any caregivers. Vetting is your responsibility. All members are required to have a legal US mailing address and be legal to work in the US. We do provide the opportunity for members to report anything that does not seem right when they interact with other members. All information sent to us of this nature is kept completely confidential. We do have an active safety team and also rely on our members to help keep the site safe.

Watch out for care.com's deceptive billing practices. I signed up to use the service briefly last summer and have now discovered they've been billing my card $64 a month ever since. There was no clear indication of this at the time of signing up - had there been I would never of proceeded. They do not notify you that payment is pending nor do they send you a receipt. When you call the customer service number they try very hard to prevent you from speaking to the billing dept.
Beware

Care.com Response • Jan 28, 2019

We do apologize for the misunderstanding of the billing policy, however it is clearly stated when enrolling on the site and again on the upgrade page that all memberships are subscriptions and will auto-renew until canceled.

Care.com banned my account that I had for years because someone made a false accusation towards me. The mom was mad because after she decided to term me the night before my shift I informed her that I could not return the key immediately because it was a 40 minute drive there and back and it would be done when I had to make that drive later in the week. She was also mad that I had asked her to reimburse me for the damages her daughter did to my personal items that when previously discussed she was all for. She stated that her floors were ruined because of me although it was her daughter who I asked to not play with the paint that way and spent hours trying to clean them. Care.com refused to return me my money paid for to use their services and has caused me a great headache in trying to find a source of income since this was my main method of locating care positions. They dont offer a repeal process and basically screw their own customers over.

Care.com Response • Jan 14, 2019

Pursuant to the Care.com Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, Care.com is not required to release the specific details as to why an account has been closed. All members registering on the site are required to accept the terms of use before they are allowed to enroll on the site.

WISH I COULD HAVE GIVEN ZERO STARS FOR THE FRAUDULENT BILLING PRACTICES OF THIS COMPANY. I DOWNGRADED MY ACCOUNT TO A FREE SUBSCRIPTION AND CARE.COM REINSTATED MY ACCOUNT TO A PAID SUBSCRIPTION WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. I WILL BE DISPUTING THESE UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES WITH MY BANK AND ALSO REPORTING THEM TO THE Revdex.com.

Care.com Response • Jan 07, 2019

I have reviewed this account and this member never reached out to us about this. The account was originally downgraded when requested. Then it was upgraded again 10 days later and a promotional code was also used. The subscription has renewed since then. It is currently set to downgrade and close which was completed by this member.

I am very frustrated with the care.com customer service team and website. I have been a babysitter on care.com for 4+ years, babysitting for at least 10 families on care.com. I had 6 five star reviews-I am a great babysitter. Yet this morning I woke up to an unfriendly email letting me know my membership had been terminated, yet gave no reason as to why I was being terminated. I have followed up with customer service 3 different ways, and so far this is the most unprofessional and unhelpful company I have ever dealt with. They kept giving me the run around and didn’t have a single answer for me as to why I had been terminated, and only told me over and over that the decision was final. I am beyond infuriated to know how this company will get rid of their hardworking and caring babysitters. I spent years building that profile, and t hard work has nothing to show for now. I am disappointed with care.com and will be sure to encourage parents and babysitters alike to use sittercity instead, if you don’t want your valuable time wasted.

Care.com Response • Dec 30, 2018

In accordance with our Terms of Use, Care.com has the right to terminate member accounts for any reason or no reason, with or without notice, including when a member no longer meets our eligibility criteria, violates our Terms of Use, or is not suitable for participation in our community.

I used care.com one year ago. I had a subscription for a few months and then deactivated my account, following all rules. I have not touched that website since. In my last credit card statement, I found that care.com resumed charging a monthly fee. Not only was this NOT authorized by me, but they had found a way to charge my new credit card number that I had never passed to them. There is literally no way to cancel your subscription online. There is no way to reach anyone in customer service (I had to use the "trick" on the internet to get a human). He said he could send an email to their resolutions team and wouldn't provide me a direct number for me to follow up, so I have zero confidence of that happening. I asked to cancel my account, which he said he would do, but again, I am skeptical. This is an unethical business and I urge everyone to stay away.

Care.com Response • Dec 30, 2018

When reviewing this, it appears that the subscription was cancelled but the member upgraded again 9 months later. The member posted another job and reached out to the applicants to the job. This second upgrade was not canceled and did auto-renew. The member was in contact with our call center and the account has since been closed completely.

This website is just to get the customer money. The profile they have in the website are not reliable and valid. Most of the profile are very old and you don't get the response. So be aware with the scam..

Care.com Response • Dec 15, 2018

The Care.com site is a completely self-service website and I apologize if some of the members you reached out to did not follow through. We do, however, encourage all of our members to be courteous with their interaction with other members. The membership fee is for the use of our secure website so you can reach out to caregivers without sharing personal information until you feel ready. The memberships benefits were used when messages were sent to caregivers. This was also the initial upgrade to the account which is non-refundable. All billing was stopped after the initial upgrade.

I think they stink -- I never could contact any of the sitters that responded and I discontinued my account and they have continued to bill me sometimes twice monthly -- how do I make them stop -- I have no use for this company at all

Care.com Response • Dec 12, 2018

The first time she contacted us and mentioned stopping the billing was December 12th. She states she had canceled the account but there wasn't any indication of that. I have now stopped the billing and reached out to her via email.

On Sunday November 18th, my employer paid me $100 through the Care.come pay system in the app. We had previously used this method of payment and it worked every time. Because this was put in on a Sunday night, I knew it would take a day or two to process. But when I still was not seeing signs of the payment anywhere, I contacted them. They claimed they manually pushed it through and it should be in within 48 hours and to contact them if it was not. 48 hours passed and still no money. I contacted them again before Thanksgiving to which I was told they were going to research into it. Weirdly enough, my employer paid me $150 a few days later and it went through with no problem. It was days before I had to email someone else who gave me the same response. I even went through their Twitter account and someone on there told me they would manually push it through and I should expect to see it by that night- I did not. It has now been two weeks since the payment was put through and no one has called me or emailed me in almost a week.

While Care.com provides a useful service, their auto-renew feature is sneaky. They will continue to charge you without any email reminder or warning. If you miss the 30 day window after the charge goes through, they will not refund you. I just feel they should be more upfront about their auto-renew feature, with email reminders and confirmations. We use Care.com because we are busy moms who need help - we don't need the company to take advantage of how busy we are by charging us without any notice and hoping we miss it!

Care.com Response • Dec 09, 2018

Thank you for your feedback on our auto-renewal policy. I will be sure to share it with our management and IT teams.

I was a caregiver on care.com and I had several satisfied families. I was asked to complete a background check, which I gladly consented. It came back with a 6 year old seat belt violation ( for myself not a child, only charge) and I was told that unless the charge was erroneous and could be removed, I would be banned from care com permanently. It wasn't erroneous and they deleted my profile. I don't care if they reserve the right to cancel any account at anytime. This violates the spirit of a background check. I am very disappointed as is one of my families I still work for. Wr complained directly and there was no rational response. I wouldn't care if they put a warning on my profile and made my background public. Which I am willing to do.

Care.com Response • Nov 28, 2018

Because there was a charge that appeared on your background check record, we are unable to reactivate your account. As previously mentioned, we have strict guidelines to ensure the safety and security of our members.

Customer Response • Nov 29, 2018

Thank you for responding. I am glad to not associate with your organization and only wish to notify others of your irrational policy. I want to make sure that no one else expects to receive a background check to help themselves only to find themselves booted off for an old seat belt violation. God forbid they have a speeding ticket! The most deplorable part is that you entice people to get these background reports on themselves at their own expense! Thankfully I didn't have to pay for mine and you should know after receiving it, they still wished to hire me.

Removed for no reason at all hadn’t even posted a job yet which I was going to try and find someone to look after my dog in a couple of weeks but guess not. What joke!

Care.com Response • Nov 28, 2018

Pursuant to the Care.com Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, Care.com is not required to release the specific details as to why an account has been closed.
As a membership-based online community, Care.com reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate a member's Care.com membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice. If Care.com terminates your membership, we have no obligation to notify you of the reason, if any, for such termination.

I paid for a 1-month subscription for $66 dollars. They also offer 3 month, 6 month, etc. However, my needs were only for 1 month. Imagine my surprise when I was charged 3 months in a row ($66 each time). This was when I caught the charges on my card. Even if you sign up for a 1 month subscription you have to cancel your subscription prior to that 1 month ending or you will be charged again. This is a rip off and extremely shady. I will never recommend this service to anyone and beware if you use them. I tried to get the two months back I didn't use and they would only refund one month even though I didn't even log onto the website during the unused two month time period.

Care.com Response • Nov 25, 2018

All of our memberships are subscriptions and will auto-renew. I am sorry you did not realize this however it is clearly stated on the upgrade page when the account is upgraded. We have various lengths of memberships and they all auto-renew. The 1 month subscription was $39.00 plus tax and there was a combined background check plan added for $20.00 plus tax. This would account for the $66.00 charge that was mentioned. Also, charges older than 30 days are non-refundable and this is stated in our terms of use refund policy.

Incredibly expensive. Seems like most of their revenue comes from people not knowing that they are automatically charged every month for the service. Aside from the costs, it is a good place to find a local nanny.

Care.com Response • Nov 18, 2018

Our subscriptions do auto-renew and this is explained when members are first enrolling on the site and then is highlighted again on the upgrade page. We do not know when a member has found their caregiver, so it is up to the member to stop the subscription, which they can do at any time. I am happy to hear that you found the site a good place to find a nanny. I was not able to verify an account with the information provided.
