Car Shield / ***: Everything was perfect until I actually filed a claim. I signed up and they debited my account for the monthly payments without any issues at all, LOL. As soon as I actually needed them to perform their part of the agreement they informed me that they do not cover the particular things my vehicle needed, which is really weird because the sales rep that signed me up told me that the coverage was basically like the original manufacturer's warranty except for things like brake pads, fluids or regular maintenance type services. I also find it interested that you can only cancel your contract and get a refund within 30 days of signing up with Car Shield but you can't file a claim within the first 30 days so basically you are out some money before you will figure out that they are a *** scam. The lady I spoke with was extremely rude and short with me, she kept interrupting me and talking over me, it was obvious to me very quickly that they had no intention of helping me whatsoever and were fine with cancelling my contract because they had already received several hundred dollars from me without having to provide any service or pay for any claims. This company has no integrity or honor and simply wants to scam you out of as much money as they can before you figure out that they are the only ones that will benefit from the relationship. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

Your repair facility called in a claim for missing cooler lines in the transmission and oil cooler lines. These components are not listed as covered in your service contract terms. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and we will refund the 2 payments you have made.
Worth noting, our customer have had over 8.6 million dollars in covered repairs paid for them, in the last 3 months alone.

This company has called me over 100 times to try to sell me an extended warranty for my vehicle. I have asked them to discontinue these calls but they continue. The use an area prefix from my area to disguise their phone numbers leading me to answer their calls. I want the calls to stop.

CarShield Response • Jan 27, 2020

We show no calls to the number you have included in this complaint. Our company has not been making calls to your number.

There are many other marketing companies that "cold call" consumers. We do not. In fact, our company is against this practice. We only call consumers who have requested information via our website or who already have a service contract with us that is nearing expiration.

We advertise by sending out mailed advertisements and by television commercials.

Again, CarShield is not the company you are receiving calls from.

I had cancelled my policy with Carshield. I was asked to send my cancellation in writing and mail it to their office for getting back some premiums I paid. I had sent 2 letters and they always stated that they didn’t receive my letters and for their convenience said they didn’t receive them. Sent them feedback online and called them multiple times. They don’t send you a monthly statement and you end up paying even if you sold your car. Be aware.

CarShield Response • Dec 27, 2019

We have not received your letter requesting cancellation. As a gesture of goodwill and in a good faith effort to resolve this matter, we will cancel your service contract as of the date you called in and issue any prorated refund due as of that date.

I purchased the CarShield Extended Warranty on Dec 11 for my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I called to ask if they would cover repairs (Dec 20) because the "engine housing" started leaking. I was told that they would not cover any of the cost and that I would have to wait 21 days to file a claim. The contract states that if you're not satisfied with the service that you could cancel the contract at any time and receive a full refund. I put $200 down on my contract. I called the company 3 times and asked them to cancel my contract and refund me my $200. The customer service agents are Trained to haggle consumers and swindle them out their money. I would like for the Revdex.com to contact this company and request that they refund me my $200 IMMEDIATELY! I also want them to cancel my credit card draft that was set up as well. I no longer want to do business with this company. They are a scam. I will choose another extended warranty from some other company. I want my $200 back from CarShield.

CarShield Response • Jan 07, 2020

When you called to purchase your service contract, the sales representative you spoke with let you know that there was a 20 day waiting period before your service contract would be in effective. You were also emailed and mailed a copy of your contract terms which also showed the 20 day waiting period prominently.

The repair claim you have referenced was submitted during that 20 day period and was denied per your service contract terms.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you have been refunded your 200.00 down payment back to your MasterCard *** on 12/31/2019.

Im requesting a refund for services that Im not using from Car shield. After several failed attempts to collect a payment from me. Car Shield continued to charge my account without my permission till a payment went through.

CarShield Response • Jan 03, 2020

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. However, we do not show that you called our office in June to cancel your membership. In fact, you called on June 1, 2019 to ask about getting your vehicle towed. A towing fee was paid for you June 7, 2019 in the amount of $86.70.

However, as a gesture of goodwill we will refund you payments from June forward, minus the towing fee that was paid.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I have paid Car Shield for November and December 2019. I wrote and asked for my contract to be cancelled but it wasnt. I only wanted it cancelled after Car Shield would not pay . My car was leaking oil which made it undrivable. Under their contract they were suppose to pay for this to be done. I took my car to ***. ***. They refused. Therefore I had to borrow $1100.00 to have my car fixed. I am requesting my $1100.00 back and my monthly $19.99 for November and December that I paid to them. Thank You for your help!

We have contacted your powertrain service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, to check on the status of the repair claim you have referenced. They don't show that any claims have been submitted by your repair facility.

We do see notes that you called our office on 12/19/2019 and asked about your oil pan. The oil pan in not listed as a covered component in your powertrain service contract terms.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and we will refund the 2 payments you have made as a gesture of goodwill.

Very reasonable and on time. Very quick, very personable and cared about what I needed.

Pretty good, pretty good. More than I expected. Rep was good. Just what I needed.

They answered all my questions. Great service fully explained what is and isn't covered.

Carshield gives me piece of mind. I know no matter what happens with my vehicle it will only cost me $100.

I was really glad I bought you being a divorced. I had another warranty company before and was being take advantage of. I found a local mechanic and would definitely recommend you.

CarShield Response • Dec 23, 2019

We are glad your vehicle service contract is helping you with your repairs. Thank you for letting us know.

So far I have been satisfied with whats going on.

CarShield Response • Jan 06, 2020

Thank you for your review!

It meets my expectations. You all do everything you say you'll do.

There were bad reviews and some good reviews but I’m telling you is a real person this company took care of what they said they would do. I needed an engine replacement took it to the dealer $7200 bill after the warranty I was billed $600 that is an excellent deal for $109 a month for the warranty.

CarShield Response • Dec 23, 2019

Thank you for letting us know about your repair claim experience. We appreciate the positive feedback. Give us a call any time we can be of assistance.

I once wrote a good review about car shield. No lying they covered up to $15,000 in repairs on my vehicle. I was sold a used lemon, brought their extended warranty and have came out of my pocket about $7,000 in parts that they do not cover. Read in between the lines. They stop covering your vehicle after $15,000 in payouts and cancel your contract immediately once you reach &15,000. In other words that scam of we cover your car until it reaches 100,000 miles or the next couple years is non existent if you need $15,000 worth of repairs in one shot. Let’s say a blown engine and transmission your done. Never again

CarShield Response • Dec 27, 2019

Each vehicle service contract, as stated in the contract terms, has a limit of liability based on your specific vehicle. Your vehicles limit of liability was $15,000.00. Since the purchase of your service contract in March of 2018 you have had 4 separate claims paid, totaling $15,000.00. Your service contract has worked perfectly for you and has paid out almost 4 times more than you paid into the service contract.

Customer Response • Dec 27, 2019

Yes the liability on my vehicle was $15,000. I paid you almost $4,500. So maybe Its best to say that my liability was $10,500. That’s fraudulent if you ask me. I paid a third of what you claimed to have paid. So let’s make that clear. You only fished out $10,500 of your money...

I initially contacted Car Shield on 23 Nov 19 and received an email back from them on 03 Dec 19. I called them on 06 Dec 19 at approximately 13:36p to talk to them about getting an extended warranty for my car. I ended up getting and paying for a plan with them that would fit my budget and they in turn told me that they would send me my confirmation information via email which I received later that day at approximately 14:01p. Upon reading the confirmation it showed my contract number, my vehicle name with the odometer reading, the plan that I was enrolled in, with the term, deductible and monthly price but when I tried to view and print my contract I kept getting an error screen on my computer. Thinking there may be something wrong with my computer I tried pulling up the same information on my phone only to get the same error. I contacted them after receiving these errors to find out how to retrieve my contract information but no one ever returned my email nor my call. I emailed them again on 10 Dec 19, inquiring again about getting a copy of my contract and still no reply from them. I again sent them a request for information on how to obtain a copy of my contract this morning, 17 Dec 19 at approximately 07:00a and I also called only to get a recording with no way to leave a message at exactly 06:59a. I am requesting that they either send me my contract information or reimburse me my down payment of $99.00. I have the records where I paid them as well as all the emails with the contract number and contract plan that I received from them.

CarShield Response • Jan 02, 2020

We have spoken to you most recently on December 17th and December 26th to help you with receiving and printing an email copy of your service contract.

Please let us know if you have not received your service contract by mail or email and we would be happy to speak with you again. ***

This company has accepted calls or called my mother about car warranties knowing that her past contracts were cancelled. She has alzhemiers and doesn't need a car warranty.
They gain protection being she called them via mailers and keep the deposit monies. She is out thousands of dollars just from 2019.

CarShield Response • Jan 02, 2020

Please provide us with your mother's phone number, name and last 6 of her VIN number, or a contract number, and we will be happy to look into this matter for you.
