I called to get prices from 'Car Shield' Extended Protection.
I got a price and asked them to 'not call' me before December 4 to sign up due to money availability.
That was on November 12, 2019
Since that day they have called me at least 9 times to 'give a lower price..
It does not seem to stop...day after day.
I consider this,at 76 years of age. 'harrassment' of an Elderly Man in Massachusetts according to Mass. General Law..

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. However, we show no calls incoming or outgoing to the phone number you have listed. We also show nothing coming up under your name.

Perhaps you initially called a different company marketing vehicle service contracts? Or is there another number that you might have contacted us from?

Customer Relations

Company took a payment when I called for approval on a repair, told me to take the car to the mechanic. When the mechanic called for payment, I they told him the repair was not covered. I requested a refund of the payment that was taken that day and cancelled the policy. The company refuses to refund my money.
They tell you it's a month to month contract and that it can be cancelled at any time with a refund within 30 days.

CarShield Response • Nov 27, 2019

Your service contract was purchased on September 24, 2019. You called to cancel your service contract on October 28, 2019, past your 30 day full refund period.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and we will refund the 2 payments you have made in a good faith effort to resolve this matter.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

This company is a Fraud.I signed up a contract with them where I was told I have 30 days to cancel. I sold my car on 30th day which happened be aa Saturday. Called them from the dealership to cancel, rep informed that someone will get to me on Monday. Waited for a day and 2 called them again and asked to cancel and give me refund. They said they will have someone call me. Not all they didn't call me, they didn't cancel my membership , they also charged the following month too.
When I called them for an explanation and refund. They don't have a refund policy and the account was cancelled coz it was not the right department so they wont refund me for both payments for a car I don't own

CarShield is a fraud

CarShield Response • Nov 27, 2019

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are being refunded the 2 payments you have made.
Your initial payment will be credited back to your Visa Card and the remaining refund due will be mailed to your *** within appx 10 days.

I have an extended warranty with this company and after taking my money, they are now denying repairs that should be covered per my policy.

CarShield Response • Nov 25, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this matter.

Your service contract's covered components and terms were addressed in your initial sales call and you also received your service contract in the mail that outlined all covered components. Customers always have a 30 day "free look" period to read over the service contract terms and all covered components. If there is anything you did not like about your contract terms you could have cancelled and received a full refund during that time.

Your vehicle had a catalytic converter failure. This component is not listed in your service contract terms as covered and therefore was denied.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you will be issued the refund you are due. We have waived the cancellation fee for you as a gesture of goodwill.

Rude, unprofessional, condescending and forceful. I went to the CarShield website to inquire about purchasing an extended warranty for my car. I was called this morning by a guy (I won't even use the term gentleman) who was initially kind and considerate. He offered me the Diamond Coverage on my car for $129. I asked him if he could send me the info via email so that I could discuss it with my husband before committing to anything. He then went into sleazy salesman mode and told me he could only offer the $129 if I immediately signed up for coverage and then told me he didn't want to see me lose out so he would decrease the price and offer it to me for $109. I told him I appreciated the discount but that I would still need to speak to my husband. Cue the sleazy salesman once again when he asked how I heard about them. I told him we'd seen a CarShield commercial on TV and lo and behold, he offered me another discount (this one called the "TV discount". how original) and the price would now be $99 a month. He made it very evident that the discounts would be honored only if I opened a policy right this very minute.

I was very kind and patient with him as he went over his obviously rehearsed spiel and told him that I would speak to my husband tonight and asked if he could call me back tomorrow morning. He so arrogantly said (and I quote), "No, we don't have time to call people back. We're a transfer only call center and we're on the phone all day with people who are actually serious about opening up a policy with us. If you're not ready now after the discounts I've given you I don't think you're serious and I wish you the best of luck."

And then hung up on me. Hung up on me! I thought maybe I'd just been unlucky enough to get the greasiest, sleaziest, rudest salesman on the CarShield team but after looking at all the reviews, I realize that predatory sales are a tactic of theirs. I can only imagine the trouble I would run into if I'd actually been suckered into buying a policy with them and had the need to use it.

No thanks! There are plenty of other car warranty companies out there. Do your research and stay far, far away from CarShield!!!

CarShield Response • Nov 27, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will review the call and take any appropriate action necessary. We would like another chance to earn your business if you are still interested in purchasing a vehicle service contract for your car. Please call *** if you are still interested in a quote.

Scam! Put on hold for ever. None of the is that work there will give a last name or employee id number. They put you on hold forever then bounce you around from rep to rep till you get tired of holding and give up. If you make more than 2 claims they cancel you. They happily gave me a CONTRACT and took my money. The vehicle broke down again, after the dealer did the first repair. They then told me they were canceling me bc Carfax, showed a different odometer mileage reported, previously, So why Did Carshield give me an extended warranty, in the first place if the so called mileage exceeded the maximum mileage that a vehicle would have under their criterion, for issuing an extended warranty?? Are the people at Carshield so stupid that they issue extended warranties WITHOUT CHECKING TITLES AND OR CARFAX FIRST??? I think not. This is just part of the scam ...They provide their own cheap made in China parts, and do not back them up. The onus is on the customer to decipher the legal aspects of the contract , and you pretty much have to be lawyer to figure it out. I am bringing this to the attention of the *** and private lawyers. It time to put these shysters out of business. Don’t bother responding with your *** robot generated replies. This ersatz warranty is under my wife’s name. United, we can bring these *** down!!!

I submitted for a quote. Unfortunately the quote I received for my relatively new vehicle with average miles was incredibly expensive. I told them I was not interested. I have harassed with called at least 5 calls a day. I tell them I’m not interested but they continue to call. Nothing short of harassment. Don’t even sign up for a quote!

We have removed you from our call and mailing list as of 11/13/2019. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Let me began by saying, do not invest your money with this company, they are a total rip off....I have been having this commany for six months, wish I can give them a no star rating and if you see this company run they r all liers and they take your money and find a million reason why your car won't be covered after paying for months and the ones that say that they got they repaired is paid actors...The tow tow and rental cars isn't free, nothing is free or covered with this commany...I filed my claim a few days ago n was trying to see how everything was gon play out before I did a review about they, first I stayed on the phone phone with them for a whole hour to make a dam claim and I had already knew what shop I was taking my car to, so I called for tow to get my car to shop to get worked on, I thought....Tow truck told me 30 minutes n they told three hours, after shop hours, so long story short I waited til the next day once I thought they were done with the test so they shop called and told I needed to replace my motor and carshield denied the claim so remind you guys I end up giving the tow guy $40 and they left me owing the shop 113$ that again they wouldnt cover, so that's $153 and that's not even get my car back home and this the same company that would take my money my account before I pay my bill and feed my kids, this can't be made up so deal with them cause the all lies and rude af
And so they say that they would refund my Nov. Payment and the should refund me all my money but I will be speaking to my lawyer on tomorrow and I still have received my refund yet....DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY

Please provide your service contract number or last 6 digits of your VIN number to *** and we would be happy to look in to this matter for you.

I cancelled Carshield on October 1st because their contract would never cover anything I needed it to cover on my car. They took out a payment of $82.95 and few days later they took out another one on the 7th of $79. I called them up and according to them, they said they could do so according to the contract. I wasn't able to find anything in the contract about that.

CarShield Response • Nov 25, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. On October 1st you called in to make a payment and ask about submitting a claim for your AC. We also have record that you called in on October 24th to cancel your service contract. Your service contract was cancelled as of that day as you requested.

We will refund your October payment as a gesture of goodwill. $79.00 will be credited back to your Visa Card *** within 3-5 business days.

I bought an extended warranty from Car Shield. I paid extra so I would have electronics coverage as well and the guy told me that everything "basically from bumper to bumper" other than the wear and tear things would be covered so I decided to go ahead and get the warranty. Now that I had an issue they are not covering my heater core and only will pay to have certain things replaced but only using after market parts, not a dealers part. I feel that I was misrepresented as to their coverage and I was NOT told that there were these restrictions!! I paid extra so that if something went wrong it would be covered. They lied to me and now I am paying the price. We have called them to try to make some resolution but they will not give anything from their side. I was totally misled and I want reimbursement.

We have contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, on your behalf. They are the obligated party under your service contract terms and have full authority over claims procedures, approvals and denials.

American Auto Shield (AAS) stated that they have approved your repair claim as of 11/23/2019 in the amount of 1802.02 along with 4 days of rental, per the contract terms.

If you have any further questions regarding this claim, please contact AAS ***. They can fully address any claims related questions or disputes.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:I was told by the dealer that the heater core is part of the radiator/cooling system and they haven't seen an extended warranty not cover it. I want it covered.

Sincerely

Toyota or Lexus won’t accept any policy for repairs. SCAM ALERT ??

CarShield Response • Nov 27, 2019

We are always happy to find a repair facility or dealership in your area that we work with. Our administrators have paid over 14 million dollars in repair claims in the last 6 months alone, so not sure why your dealership would not honor your vehicle service contract.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested as of November of 2018.

Car shield is the worst, when I needed to replace the radiator in\ my car they told my mechanic they would find and ship a similar part and warranty. No shop will warranty a part they don't supply. They would not pay for hose clamps, hoses or the diagnostic time. The contact is legal bogus, avoid like the plague absolute ***. If you want to cancel you will need to call your bank and stop the autopay.

I had a contract with this awful company, my car broke down and the part that needed to be replaced was covered under the contract, it turns out that my car broke down on Friday afternoon, I called Carshield to let them know I was taking my car in to the shop, they knew what part needed to be replaced, they knew the shop had to order the part, it was a holiday weekend and since they close for the weekend, they have NO WAY of being reached on weekends by any means, the phone numbers only have automated voicemails, you can not get a representative to help you, I needed to rent a car which should have been covered by them according to the policy, the shop had my car sitting there without them being able to touch the car until we were able to get the approval from Friday evening until Tuesday morning they denied my claim for the car rental, a couple months later I decided to cancel my the policy, yet they still took the monthly payment after the policy was cancelled, it has been over 6 weeks and they have not returned my money, they keep lying saying they have sent the check, but every time I call they say they WILL BE CUTTING THE CHECK that day, please be aware of this company, do not fall for their lies.

CarShield Response • Nov 27, 2019

We contacted your service contract administrator regarding the claim you have referenced. They are showing that they paid for an alternator replacement in the amount of 423.74 9/4/2019. This was after your deductible of 100.00 had been subtracted.
We also have record that your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you have been mailed a refund of $109 on November 5, 2019.

On 7-05-2019 I brought car repair insurance from car shield. I never received the policy on this car insurance. I call them and ask for one they said they would sent it though the mail. Still didn't get it. On 9-10-2019 I was having problems with my car. I took it in was told I need a transmission. I called car shield I was given a run around they told me that the postal returned the policy back to them. I was never told what would be covered, I still don't know anything about that policy. I call Jason left a message no call was return. Car shield never told me that we were insured by America Car Shield They are refusing to paid because we had to get in contact with America Car Shield. It Car Shield after many phone calls to tell us that we needed a claim number from American Car Shield. American Car Shield gave us a run around it took 3 weeks to get a claim number. Then they denial are claim because we needed are car repair we took out a loan to do this.( I'm 82 my wife is 60 we have to go to the doctors and pay food it's not that easy to get around at our age.) The repair guy couldn't get a claim number. 10-16-2019 I had gotten ahold of Lisa I told her what was going on. *** told me to Fax the paper work to her again. I did. On 10-18-2019 *** told me to fax the paperwork to her again. It was sent.. Lisa was called on 10-21-2019 she said she didn't received anything. That there fax machine was over riding faxes so she told me to e-mail it to her. So I when to Fed ex to have it e-mailed. She said she didn't get it. It was emailed again at Fed Ex on 10-24-2019. No one got it. I asked to speak to a supervisor his name is Vincent he tried to give me a run around. He wanted me to email it again. I asked him if my money would be refunded . Then he told me my car was repaired at ***. I asked him how he knew this when I didn't tell him he said he found the paper work. Our claim was denial because of Car Shields and America Car Shield incogitant. These two company's are a scam. They lied to us would not tell us or sent us copy's of our policy and they refused to pay the bill because of their neglect. The only time they called us was when they wanted money. Why is a company like this still in business. If you could help us it would be nice.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I paid Car Shield for 3 payments of 113.42 which comes up to $340.26 I had to cancel my debit card since Car Shield had my old debit car number and could take money out. I had to stop them I'm 82 years old and on a fix income.

Sincerely

All I wanted to do was get pricing & info about their policy, the sales rep then tried to get me to give him my credit card info to make the first payment. I told him again, I was just calling to get info, not to start a policy just yet. He kept pressuring me to make that first payment & I kept having to explain in just calling for info. Basically, he was trying to hard sell me into a policy. As a former sales rep myself, I know all the tricks & told him I didn't appreciate him trying to sell me when I just wanted information & that this experience was leaving a bad taste in my mouth about the company. I had to hangup on him to get him to stop badgering me into making that first payment.

Their prices seem reasonable & the policy sounded good enough for my needs, but why the hard selling tactics? I'm just wanting to get pricing & info from several extended repair companies & THEN make my decision on whom to go with. My phone call experience with Carshield has totally turned me off on them. If they end up being the lower priced option, I'm not looking forward to doing business with them. It also sounds, from reviews I've read, they like to come up with all sorts of reasons to deny claims, so that's something to keep in my mind as well.

CarShield Response • Nov 27, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will review the call you have mentioned and take any appropriate action necessary if the representative you spoke with was anything less than polite and informative.
Please contact us at *** if you are still interested in coverage for your vehicle. We would like another opportunity to earn your business.

My first experience in seeking coverage through my CarShield Service Contract is not going well: I am paying each month a surcharge because my car is powered by a turbo diesel engine.

Yesterday my car was hard starting and the diagnostics revealed a fault code in a glow plug circuit.

I phoned to inquire about what I needed to do to arrange service. The plan administrator, United Car Care, told me glow plugs are not a "named component" and therefore they will not authorize service for these based on their decision. I asked to speak with the agent's manager, and the agent simply disconnected me after bluntly telling me our call was through.

My plan specifically states "Coverage for any surcharge...item is afforded only if the item is listed in the 'service contract information' section on page D1...." My plan includes "Surcharges: TURBO DIESEL" in the Service Contract Information on page D1 of the contract.

I was told at the time I purchased the contract that, because my car is powered by a turbo diesel, there would be a surcharge and this was because of the many differences between a diesel and a conventional gasoline powered engine. These components include, but are not limited to, glow plugs, evaporator, and so on.

Now, again at the first time I seek coverage, a plan administrator simply slams the door on me.

I feel very much ripped off. And I'm looking into canceling and demanding a full refund. CarsShield provided me with nothing for the more than $1500 I've already paid CarShield.

CarShield Customer Service, after much time on hold, transferred me to a different Plan Administrator. That Plan Administrator added nothing, wasted even more of my time, saying they had no idea why CarShield transferred me to them when it is a different Plan Administrator.

CarShield Response • Nov 27, 2019

Please provide us with your service contract number or last 6 digits of your VIN number so we can look into this for you. You can send your service contract number to *** along with a brief explanation of your complaint.

Customer Response • Nov 27, 2019

Be EXTREMELY wary of CarShield. To my initial review they eventually posted a comment asking for my contract number or a portion of my VIN so they can look into the matter.
Well, they already did "look into the matter", long before they got around to responding to my review.
CarShield passes the buck to the company that administers the contract, using as its excuse that in essence they are only a company that sells the coverage. Their finding was that they would and could do nothing, the Administrator's decision is final.
So, again, we paid an additional sum every month for coverage for a diesel-powered vehicle, and when a diesel engine component failed CarShield refused to cover that.
We canceled our coverage and are awaiting receipt of a portion of our monies.

My car is a Nissan Pathfinder 2008 at the time my car only had 109,000 miles on it in February 2009 I seen the car shield advertisement on TV I thought it would be worth it to get a extended warranty on my vehicle beings that in 2018 I had to replace my radiator it was leaking coolant it cost me about $300 to replace the radiator so I figured a warranty would be worth it in case something else happened to my car in April 2019 my transmission went out I had it towed to the dealership to have it repaired they contacted carshield carshield contacted me saying that they would not do the repairs because of a pre-existing condition I did not know what the pre-existing condition would be so I contacted the dealership the dealership said that the transmission had gotten water in it and because I had replaced the radiator in 2018 that it was considered a pre-existing condition I don't know how this is a pre-existing condition when I did the repairs myself the prior-year somebody please explain to me how this is a pre-existing condition

CarShield Response • Nov 26, 2019

We contacted your service contract administrator to get information on the repair claim you have brought to our attention. They stated that your radiator had been replaced previously, as you said. Now there is a transmission fluid/coolant intermix. This means damage was already done to the transmission when coolant was mixed in with transmission fluid when the previous repair was made. This is why the claim was denied for a failure pre-existing the effective date of your vehicle service contract.

I've had this company for 5 months. Cane down to getting my car fix and they rejected my claim stating that the car had Prededination problems and they dont cover that part of the engine. Now my contract stated specific parts of the engine, and they fail to honor that. It cost me $600 for a weeks rental and $250 to the dealer that looked into this problem. My claim no. With. Car shield was #*** and this company indeed is a rip off. I'm ditching them and getting a bumper to bumper warranty with GMC cause I know they will handle business off the back. Very disappointed in carshield. Very disappointed.

CarShield Response • Nov 26, 2019

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded in full.

3800 for a diamond warranty take the car to the mercedes dealership to be told by carshield the dealership misdiagnosed the vehicle. So 300 dollars for 2 hours of labor. Out of my pocket. 3800 for the warranty and my car is still damaged with 29000 original miles.. my attorney will be contacting car shield and the dealership.

I believe scammers are using the CarShield letterhead/address to scam us into purchasing a warranty on a non-existing vehicle. I have received numerous letters and unsolicited telephone calls from someone representing this company 100's of times. Calls have necessitated us changing our cell phone numbers twice but they still come in on our land line. We received a letter yesterday 11/6/20 from them and telephone call at 6:00 a.m. this morning. This has been going on for months and we would like it to stop.

We show no incoming or outgoing calls to or from the phone number you have listed.
