I purchased a vehicle service contract around August 2019 and was sold / told / lead to believe it was platinum level for repairs but when I brought the vehicle to the repair shop 1/30/20 for an issue I was told it was not covered. I was informed that I was sold the Gold coverage which did not cover this repair. I said that the call was recorded and I know what I purchased and they told me they could not get the recording and I only have gold coverage. No matter how I tried they were not going to go back to the initial call of the purchase. I informed them I was not satisfied with that response but all they said was sorry but that is the coverage you have. I feel I have been a victim of bait and switch. I was told upon purchase I was getting this and after I agreed they charged my credit card and gave me that.
We find the best coverage for you based on your vehicles specific make model and mileage. Your 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer with 145,112 miles qualified for monthly Powertrain Gold Protection. Your vehicle has too many miles on it to qualify for platinum coverage. The powertrain gold coverage was explained during your call and you received a copy of your contract showing all the covered components and the type of coverage your vehicle qualified for. You also had a 30 day free look period to review your contract terms and let us know if you had any questions or were unhappy with your service contract in any way.
Your service contract covers a great many components, all listed in your service contract terms. However, the hub and wheel bearings are not listed for coverage.
Please feel free to give our customer service department a call if you need any additional information or assistance. ***

Car Shield is a complete rip off and if you are considering it, you should reconsider. Even when they okay service (as they did with me) and approve a rental car, within 24 hours I was notified that they couldn't support the claim and I was on the hook for the mechanic and rental car even though I had the Gold Package. This is the second time in a year that something has gone wrong with my 2010 Cadillac that they have refused to pay. As I have gone on-line to check them out more thoroughly, all I find are negative reviews echoing the same problems I had with them. Basically, they are an insurance company and like any insurance company will do anything in their power not to have to pay out on a claim. Buyer Beware of Car Shield!
The camshaft position actuator sensor is not listed in your powertrain service contract terms as a covered component.
Run the other way. They are rude and use high-pressure sales. My husband said he wanted to talk things over with me before making a decision, but they would not let him off the phone without getting our credit card number. They kept lowering their price to get him to buy. (I wonder how many people get sucked into paying the highest price?) He finally hung up on them.
I spoke with another rep today who called back to offer even "better" pricing. And I had to hang up her when she would not accept no and kept pushing. I could NEVER trust a company that resorts to these high-pressure, pushy, unreasonable sales tactics.
They pay to be included on other consumer review websites, so I do not believe those positive reviews for one minute.
Hi my name is *** and I would like to make a complain about Car Shield warranty company that I look up on line. I was so happy due to the point of the amount that I would have to pay monthly $99.00 was so affordable for me so I took up their offer, so start off I had to put down $101.00 in September, than from October of 2019 till January 2020 Ive been making the monthly payments which I never needed help with my car until now.my problem is my drivers side window fell down off the track and my motor and regulator that operates my window no longer work it gave up.according to the contract it covers that problem, but now their saying it doesn't cover and they are refusing to refund me back my moneys,is it possible that you can help me I really need help, I would appreciate it very much.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond.
We contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the window repair you have referenced. They stated that a repair claim was submitted for a window regulator. The window regulator is not covered under the service contract terms. Your service contract is very specific on the components listed as covered.
As a gesture of goodwill, we will agree to refund you the payments you have made in a good faith effort to resolve this matter.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. My only question is, when should I expect the total refund?

I signed up for two vehicles with them and cancelled and had no problems. They credited my account right away.
We are sorry to lose you as a customer. Give us a call if we can be of any assistance in the future.
I spoke to three people and did NOT get a satisfaction answer, so I had to pay the dealership $200.00 over my $100.00 deductible! I am NOT a happy customer and will be cancelling my extended warranty plan with you! You need to send your people through a customer service program, all they could say is "that is what the book says". If they understood anything about diagnosis and how to diagnose a problem, they would understand sometimes the "book" isn't the only answer.
Sad they are willing to loose a customer over a $200.00 dispute.
Your service contract administrator has paid a suspension claim in the amount of $1099.08 on 1/13/2020. You called back in on 1/15/2020 and requested another hour of diagnostic time. Your claims administrator stated that they needed to know what was done for that additional hour so they could review possible reimbursement. They have not received another invoice explaining the extra diagnostic time. You can contact them at 800-531-1925 if you have any further questions.
I did not request another hour, that is between CarShield and ***. This is *** and CarShield trying to play like they care. You want to really handle the problem YOU call *** get what you need, that is how a company with integrity and customer service would resolve the issue!
On August 14, 2019, based on your advertisements on tv, we purchased your extended Monthly Diamond W Elite warranty for two of your vehicles (Infinity FX37 and Lexus GS350). On beginning of November, we had a problem with our Lexus and the replacement part was not covered under the existing warranty. Now, on December 12, 2019, we had a problem with our Infinity. This repair was covered! Next day, we got a call from American Auto Shield. We were told that the dealer wants too much money for the part and CarShield was not willing to pay for it. They told us to go find some different repair shop who would accept their price. We started to call CarShield and spoke with *** ova, *** and *** and they promised somebody from the managers will call us back. Nobody did!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are happy to look into this for you.
We contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf to get information on the repair claims you have mentioned. American Auto Shield (AAS), is the obligated party under your contract and has full authority over claims procedures, approvals and denials.
AAS stated that a claim was called in for the radio on the Lexus. The amplifier needed to be replaced. This component is not listed as covered under your contract terms and was denied by your claims administrator, AAS, for that reason. The contract for your Lexus has been cancelled as you requested and you were refunded in full. $79.00 was credited back to your Mastercard and the remaining $237.00 was mailed to your *** address on January 31, 2020.
The claim you have referenced for your Infinity was approved by AAS. Per your service contract terms, AAS offered to send your repair facility the parts needed to complete the caliper repair. AAS also let you know that, if you did not wish to use the parts they offered, you had the option to use the repair facilities parts, but would have to pay the difference in the part cost. You chose to cancel your coverage. It has been cancelled as you requested and you have been refunded in full. $79.00 was refunded back to your Mastercard and the remaining $237.00 was mailed to your *** address on January 31, 2020.

They do what they say that's the only thing I experienced. I pay them every month and when something happens they do what they say they are going to do.
Thank you for the comment. Give us a call any time you need assistance. We are always happy to speak with you.
They tell you that electrical parts are cover when you first get the coverage and then when the time comes to get a repair they tell the car dealer it's not covered..such a scam and waste on time..I should have listened to the reviews about this place..there totally a scam
There are many electrical components covered under your contract terms. However, the recirculation door actuator, that allows for air in the passenger cabin to be drawn into the HVAC system, cooled or heated, and then recirculated back into the cabin, is not listed as a covered component under your powertrain contract terms.
No respond is needed from me about CarSheild...I sold the vehicle, cancelled the so call warranty and bought a newer car with a REAL warranty....my review was only to warn new customers..stay away from them...
Purchased a CarShield contract in September 2019. Have attempted to file two claims since purchase, both have been rejected. One was for a drive shaft for a 2011 Volvo XC 90. New drive shaft cost $1600.00 plus labor. I got a used one for $500.00 and labor of $300.00. CarShield says,"they will be there for the expensive repairs. I guess $2,000.00 isn't expensive enough. Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews of so many people who have submitted claims that were denied. The wasted money I spent for the CarShield contract was the cost for the learning lesson. Could have bought a nice pair of Cowboy Boots. This company won't last long or they will come back under a new name. Buyer beware!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Covered components were addressed in your initial sales call. You also received your contract by mail and email with a 30 day free look period to review all contract terms and specific covered components. The driveshaft is not listed as covered under your contract terms.
I paid for Car Shield for 15 months. I had the Powertrain Plus Gold coverage. The PCM (powertrain control module) failed and Car Shield would not cover the repair because the Powertrain Plus Gold coverage does not cover the powertrain control module. Hard to believe, but true. Wasted my money and got stuck with the repair bill.
The PCM is a computer that manages operation of the engine and transmission. This is not an internally lubricated part of your engine or transmission and is not listed for coverage under your contract terms.
When bringing the car covered by the service contract sold by this company, the underwriting company United Car Care denied a claim for a mechanical issue. The Advertising on-line and on TV say different. This company received payment of over $3500 under false pretenses.
We do not have an active service contract under your name or the phone number you have listed.
Kind Regards,
Customer Relations

I am rejecting this response because: Car Shield is fully aware that I filed this claim on behalf of ***. They know because we, *** and I, discussed this matter at length with the Car Shield Associate Legal Liaison, ***, relating the companies' continued refusal from ***, Car Shield Attorney, to hold up their end of the bargain as they state on the internet. Their refusal has cost *** for the entire repair they promised to pay as a result of Car Shields collection of $3531 for an extended warranty. Instead they, Car Shield, has referred this matter to a third party to administer. The third party has also refused to pay this claim and has hung up twice regarding this issue.

I am rejecting this response because: Again you place responsibility for this Care Shield issued extended warranty plan to be paid by someone other the recipient of payment for this product. Again you speak of a non-existent contract that was never executed by either of the parties. Your continued practice of bait and switch has been brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities. It seems you are not providing any evidence you, Car Shield are licensed in the State of Florida to retail any type of product. It is public record that your Owners have been penalized by your own State Attorney General for practicing tactics similar to these in the past, misrepresenting a product. You again state you are aware of *** knowing of an entity you introduce after a sale has been made, claim had been denied. As explained earlier, that claim was called in to Car Shield, payment for the claim was handled by the Ford Dealership. The exact cause of the failure most recently repaired is yet to be determined!
The entity, United Care Care, to my knowledge, your company has ceased further placement of trust as an Administer of the Car Shield extended warranty plans as per your CSR at your Corporate Headquarters located in Missouri.
This claim dollar amount by *** needs to be rendered by the Company that sold/received payment in full the extended warranty, Car Shield.

Own a 2004 Mercedes Benz SL500. The ABC pump on the vehicle failed due worn gaskets, the Mercedes technician contacted carshield and they stated gaskets are not covered. But what about the ABC pump? I ended up paying $4300.00 for the pump and $3.00 for the gaskets as pump does not come with gaskets. I went round and around with the company with no understanding of the fact that I understand that it did not pay for gasket replacement but rubber gaskets fail but in this instance they caused the ABC pump to fail which is a covered part. Their only resolve was to lower my monthly payment. Contract has currently reached it's expiration date and I did not renew, Would advise to not waste your money! Have since went with new service company which has a better ranking among consumers
Your repair facility submitted a claim back in September of 2017 for a failed ABS Pump Seal. Seals are not listed for coverage in your service contract terms.
I have a Platinum coverage plan, top tier, with the company. I am currently getting a runaround with a repair that clearly is covered by my contract. The customer service department is nothing but rude to me and the service shop I have gone to. They've even belittled the mechanics who are trying to help with the repairs.
I had set up a claim for my car, but the claims department cancelled an appointment for me because I allegedly didn't give authorization for the inspection of the part in question. I was unaware of the cancellation of said appointment until I called for an update. The customer service department couldn't explain why I was not told about the cancellation. I was then transferred to the calms department where they apologized for the issues of no contact, yet I am still waiting for the appointment to be rescheduled. I am in a rental car at the time being and will be for an extended amount of time because of their errors.
Yet, I am not sure if they are going to get this claim started properly after all the miscues from the company. I am being assured that everything will be taken care of in a quick manner, but I doubt this. They said they were going to make some notes on the claim to assure that my claim will be reviewed for the extra expenses above and beyond my contract pays for rentals.
We have contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, on your behalf regarding the repair claim you have referenced.
American Auto Shield stated that they are working with you and the new repair facility you have moved your vehicle to, to get the repair claim started. They spoke to most recently on February 3, 2020. Please contact American Auto Shield if you have any questions regarding the claim in process. They will be able to assist you. They can be reached ***.

I am rejecting this response because: Ihave spoken to American Car Shield again. They are not taking my complaint seriously. They are still giving me the runaround because of the miscommunications between the 1st service shop and me over an appointment.
I have already taken the car to a new repair facility and had a diagnostic done on it. The service facility had contacted the company already and I am trying to schedule a time for whatever needs to be done for this claim. The company will no assist me with a simple scheduling for whatever they need to do which is convenient for me and the service facility. They scheduled the appointment before without issues. After the whole fiasco of the first appointment, you would think that they would be more responsive and helpful!!
Sincerely
Your service contract administrator is the obligated party under your contract and has full authority over repair claim decisions. We will reach out to them again on your behalf and ask them to contact you regarding this ongoing claim. Their claim notes say that an inspector was send on 2/7/2020. American Auto Shield should be contacting you within the next couple of days to go over the status of your claim.

I purchased an extended warranty on my automobile from Car Shield. My car is under repair so I filed a claim with Car Shield (Claim ***). The company is rejecting payment for the repairs.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.*** purchased a powertrain service contract for her Jeep Liberty on May 2, 2019. In December of 2019 a repair claim was submitted for a seized/locked up engine, to her vehicle service contract administrator, American Auto Shield (AAS). American Auto Shield is the obligated party under the service contract and has full authority over repair claim procedures, approvals and denials. When AAS requested service records, *** stated that she had not had the engine oil changed since she purchased the vehicle. AAS's independent inspector verified that the engine seized due to lack of lubrication. The oil pump pick up was clogged with unidentifiable material. The material was either left inside her engine during a repair or the vehicle had been vandalized, per AAS claim notes. AAS denied the claim due to contamination from foreign material being the cause of failure. AAS mailed *** a letter explaining the denial, as she requested. American Auto Shield has spoken to *** several times, explaining their claim denial and the reason for denial, per her contract terms. If you have any further questions or dispute regarding the repair claim submitted to American Auto Shield, please contact them directly. Their contact information is listed in ***'s service contract on the first 3 pages. On January 27, 2020 *** called our office and requested cancellation of her service contract. Her contract has been cancelled as she requested. We have refunded *** in full in the amount of $849.06 in a good faith effort to resolve this matter.
Am very disappointed in the service. although the customer service people I talk to when I call car shield were friendly I was denied a claim after making 11 monthly payments. The parts are covered under my contract but because the exhaust on my 05 ford f350 was altered before I bought the truck and not asked about any alterations to vehicle when I purchased my contract, was denied my claim and told that my contract was cancelled. If I would have been asked about any such alterations I would have stated the exhaust. The phone calls they record for quality insurance would show that. Now I have to send a letter of cancellation in order to try and get my money back so I can try to pay the repairs out of pocket to get my vehicle back. Its been at shop for 3 weeks with bad injectors and broken starter. Should would help to not have to wait for my $1700 I've paid in for a warranty I haven't been able to use. I've only put 4,500 miles on truck since I bought it a year ago and got the extended warranty. I myself would not recommend the warranty company to anyone that living paycheck to paycheck. just put money in savings to cover any repairs. You'll get better results that way. I'm very frustrated that I've had to jump through so many hoops trying to get repairs done just to be told I dont qualify. in fact I wasn't told that until I called to check on a claim after another payment was made. That was 2 days after the affiliate *** determined I was not covered and canceled my contract.
Your service contract voided your service contract due to modifications to your exhaust system (straight pipe stacks) Modified vehicles are excluded from coverage, per your service contract terms. You have been refunded in full.
I got carshield as a just in case something happens, Because you never know what could happen. And unfortunately something did happen my transmission went out and carshield refused to pay for the repairs. Now I am paying for it they took my payment for 2 months and now they are refusing service. I want my money back and getting them to understand that is like talking to a wall. Its such a headache when u talk to a carshield rep and even more of a headache when you speak to the actual warranty company american auto shield all they want to do is argue.
I have been a customer of CarShield since April 2019. I bought CarShield thinking they would make my life easier, when in fact they pulled the wool over my eyes. The company prides themselves on being "America's ultimate in extended vehicle service protection." Their TV ads rave about the company being trustworthy and honest although I feel I have been misled and feel they do not fulfill the promises advertised. I took my car to a local repair shop and several diagnostics which cost me $1000 per. I am a disabled senior and feel carshield took advantage of myself and my situation. I feel something should be done about the company so no one else gets taken advantage of as I did.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have checked with your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claims you have referenced.
American Auto Shield, your service contract administrator, stated that you had a claim submitted for a battery, which is a normal wear and tear item and is not listed as covered under your service contract terms. You also had failure of your tie rods. This component is not listed in your service contract as covered. They do not show that your repair facility called in to start a claim regarding an emmissions issue.
Although your service contract has a great many covered components, the battery and tie rods are not listed. Your coverage was addressed in your initial sales call and you received a copy of your service contract to review for 30 days with a full refund if there was anything you did not like about your contract terms.
You did have several roadside assistance towing fees paid totaling 185.15.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested, as of August of 2019.
Respectfully,

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
the battery and the tie rods are not a concern.
what the concern is is the #2 cylinder is misfiring and in order to pass inspection, that cylinder has to be replaced.
the diagnostic is enclosed--three of them have been done.
Sincerely
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
I would like CarShield to pay for the repair, for the emission or refund the money I paid into CarShield.

If it hadn't been for car shield at the time I would have been messed up. Car shield really helped me. You're looking at $1300 and I only had to pay $300 and that was a blessing in disguise and again it was a brand new radiator that they put on there and car shield backed me up and to this day I am very grateful.
We are happy we could help you with your repair. Thank you for your kind words. We look forward to helping you again in the future.
