We can not stop the sales team from calling and harassing an elderly widow.

My mother has been called two-three times a week threatening her losses will amount... It is a new car with 100,000 warrantee,,, and less than 2,000 miles.

Between the calls... and even three way calls to me... she ends up crying.

I have asked politely for them to stop calling... stop harassing.... to no avail.

This is beyond harassment... please remove any and all records

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

If I could I wouldnt have given any stars was told my engine was going to be replace three days later told claim was denied that’s after an adjuster came out and told my mechanic to tear down the engine why would they have my mechanic look for an engine only to deny claim. DONT GET CAR SHIELD you are the phone for hours at a time the person who said nothing is covered is right they will deny everything with an explanation that makes no sense I’m canceling my policy Buyer Beware

CarShield Response • Nov 26, 2019

We contacted your service contract administrator to check the status of your repair claim. They stated they they paid $308.00 on 10/29/2019 to cover the cylinder head. Your service contract has also been cancelled as you requested.

For the past 2 years, I have been contacted repeatedly by CarShield to purchase an extended vehicle service warranty on my Nissan car. I have never researched nor intended to purchase any sort of extended warranty on my car and I've never opted in to be contacted by such companies. I DO NOT know how they got my information, and I have asked repeatedly to be removed from their database to no avail. They not only call me on my cell phone, but also mail me nondescript letters labeled URGENT and IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUIRED --- it's not only annoying and frustrating for me, but it's deceptive and surely illegal.

CarShield Response • Nov 11, 2019

CarShield does sent out mailed advertisements, but does not "cold call" consumers. We show only 1 inbound phone call from the phone number you have listed. It was on 10/26/2019, when you called and requested that you be removed from our mailing list. We immediately obliged. You have been removed from our mailing list. We show no outbound calls to your phone number.

There are many vehicle service contract marketers out there that do cold call consumers on their cell phones. We are not one of them. Consumers are often times receiving phone calls from other marketers out there, then receive one of our mail pieces and assume the phone calls were coming from us as well. That is not the case.

Again, you have been removed from out mailing list and should receive no additional mailers from our company.

I was interested in a contract with this company. After escalating to a supervisor who could not answer questions about the contract He started high pressure tactics concerning pricing on the contract . I wanted to review the contract and gave a lawyer take a look too. This person Jerry stated he could not guarantee me the price of the contract promised if Zi did not purchase today. He blantantly would not answer me and even denied the arbitration clause being in the contract.

CarShield Response • Nov 11, 2019

We appreciate your comment and the opportunity to respond.

I took out a policy for car repair on my 2006 Hummer in May of this year and had an inspection to get ready for winter. There were repairs for the front differential cross number as well as some seals that were needing to be replaced. They did not want to honor the repairs because they say that they do not cover seals and that the differential is part of the suspension which it is NOT. Based on this decision I indicated I wanted to cancel. I indicated that I wanted a full refund as they did not offer me any service and was denied

CarShield Response • Nov 11, 2019

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your complaint. Your 2006 H3 with 127K miles qualified for a Monthly Powertrain Gold Vehicle Service contract. The crossmember is not listed and stand alone coverage for seals and gaskets are not listed for coverage under your powertrain service contract terms. This repair claim was correctly denied.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested. We will agree to refund you in full in a good faith effort to resolve this complaint.

Your initial payment will be refunded to your Visa card ending in 3991 and your remaining refund will be mailed to the address you have listed.

Today I received a letter from Car Shield saying I own a car. I do not own a car nor do I know how to drive. The letter was concerning a vehicle warranty that has expired. I called them and asked that they remove my name and no longer contact me. I do not know how they got my name, apt. number and address. They refused to remove my name.

CarShield Response • Nov 11, 2019

We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for providing the ID number on the mailer you received. We have removed your information from our mailing list.

We don't show that the mailer you received had a vehicle listed. It was simply an advertisement offering you information on a vehicle service contract, if you were interested.

We don't have any inbound calls from the phone number you have listed, and our representatives are instructed to immediately remove any consumer from our mailing lists who requests it.

Again, we have removed you from our mailing list as you requested.

The first time I needed the coverage, they did not cover anything. The have broad buckets of uncovered items like "seals and gaskets." Also, nothing with emissions is covered. I would not recommend. There are better services out there. The shop I went to was surprised it was not covered. They deal with many extended warranty companies and expects most others would have covered my issues. All I can say is do your homework on any company or ask an actual shop which they see cover well and are easy to work with.

CarShield Response • Nov 01, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your service contract administrator shows the repair claim submitted was for oil cooler seals which are not listed as covered components under your powertrain service contract terms. Your powertrain service contract does cover a great many components, but seals are not listed as stand alone coverage. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded the 2 payments you have made.

I had a Suzuki that I bought down at ***. The timing change had gone out and I had my warranty through Carshield. They wouldn't pay for it. Because of this, *** was nice enough to trade the Suzuki for another car. I got an Impala from *** and also had an issue there with the pressure control valve and the valve body. Still had my insurance through Carshield and they wouldn't cover that either.

At some point, during the three years I have paid for this insurance, I was supposed to receive a booklet telling me what exactly was covered and have yet to receive anything. I am paying for service that I can't use. I want to cancel and want a refund for the amount of time I have paid for this insurance.

You purchased your service contract for your 2011 Chevy Impala on August 30, 2019. Your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, is stating that there was a repair claim paid for the replacement of an engine mount on 9/23/2019 in the amount of $350.07.

You contacted our office on 10/21/2019 and requested cancellation of your service contract. It has been cancelled as you requested.

Respectfully,

I give this company no stars! We've been paying them for about 17 months and when we needed them when my car went in the garage it wasn't covered. We ended up paying almost $1000.00 out of our pocket to get the repairs. When I talked to the agent on the phone (when we first got the warranty) he told me everything was covered. I wish I would have read the reviews before I purchased the warranty. I would never recommend CarShield to anyone!

CarShield Response • Nov 01, 2019

Your service contract covers a great number of components that were addressed in your initial purchase call. Your service contract was also sent to you by mail and email with a 30 day period to look over all the covered component and contract terms. If there was anything about your service contract you were unhappy with, you had the option to cancel with a full refund during that time. Your recent repair claim was submitted for an oxygen sensor and and VVT actuators. These parts are not listed as covered components in your service contract terms.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of receiving the prorated refund you are due.

I have a warranty company by the name of American Auto Shield. I purchased a contract with them back in August 2019 for my 2004 Porsche Cayenne truck. Fast forward to October 14th took my truck in to the *** to be serviced/diagnostics. I was helped by a service advisor named ***. Diagnostics was performed and I had a "Front Differential" that was cause by an internal issue and was told not safe to drive. I also had my 1 1/2 year old twin boys with me. Next day I called Carshield letting the know that I just got a diagnostics and I would like to start a claim. I was told by one of the Reps that the advisor of the service place have to start the claim. I did notify my advisor *** that he needs to call and start a claim; in which I provided 3 different numbers given to me by the Reps of Carshield. *** started calling Oct. 15th until Oct. 21st leaving voice messages. We both even did a three way call on Oct. 17th got ahold to one of the Claims Specialist and *** was told to call back on Friday Oct. 18th in the morning to reach a Judicator He called and still no answer. I have been catching cabs back and forth to work. I can not get anyone to communicate and that's majorly the warranty companies fault. My advisor told me that he has tried and has done everything he could and that the warranty company would have to reach out to dealership now. I don't know what else to do.

I've paid $3093.00 for this companies Platinum repair coverage. My AC compressor went out, as per ***. This is a Hyundai new car dealership located in Hagerstown, Md. I got this companies' ok to take my car there to have it checked out. I paid $99.00 for the service. The result was that the compressor and the blower motor were malfunctioning, and needed to be replaced. The service writer called the company in question and we were both told that I would have to leave my car at the dealership for an undetermined amount of time until someone of their choosing could come there to verify the findings. I would have to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle in the meantime.

I am rejecting this response because:The administrator wanted me to leave my car at the unsecured dealership where I had my car inspected for the problem I was having. They wanted me to leave my car for 2 days in another state while they got around to checking behind the new car dealers claim of what needed to be reaired. (I would need a rental vehicle to get around that the administrator says that I would be responsible for the cost of. Presently this last statement is the problem that I have. It also shows that this company wants to nit pick on every possible claim so they won't have to pay out for the needed repairs of there customers vehicles. Carshield never eludes to this nasty clause in there TV commercials. I have paid the contract $3098.00, never before had a claim in over 2 years. I've had many repair services in the past on many different cars, and never had to have my car re- inspected after having utilized certified car repair centers. I would like a refund of all the money I paid, because each time I might need repairs I'm going to have to deal with this nit picking, which is so time consuming and intended to defraud this outfits customers.

Your service contract does state, under "your responsibilities" that you must give authorization to an ASE Certified repair facility for tear down and inspection to diagnose a problem.

A repair claim cannot move forward without the inspection to verify cause of failure.

We will cancel your vehicle service contract as you have requested and agree to a full refund less any cancel fees that apply, in a good faith effort to resolve this matter.

Your down payment of $150.00 will be refunded to your MasterCard *** within 3-5 business days. Your remaining refund will be mailed to your *** address. You should receive your refund check in approximately 10 business days.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I've looked over Car Shield's refund proposal. Why my $150.00 down payment to my original card account, an otherwise full refund a few days later minus handling fees sent to me in the mail. I'm supposed to trust that they will deduct only a reasonable amount from my remaining balance, for the extreme inconvenience to me for their slack business practices. I've already paid the dealerships a $99.00 fee for trouble shooting the not working AC. I actually want that back too. I shouldn't have to pay them anything, for having such poor business ethic. I want my $3192.00 returned to me. I should be asking for damages for wasting my time. I wouldn't do this to anyone, and I don't like having it done to me.
Sincerely

Buyer Beware! This coverage is not what they advertise! Nearly everything that goes wrong is not even covered! Please read the fine print! Then once they have your payment info they literally don't want to stop taking your money, like seriously! I cancelled my account after realizing they wouldn't cover what I purchased the insurance for and realized a few months later they were still taking money, monthly, from my credit card!! Then they wanted to haggle about how much they owed and who was going to pay what. As of yesterday I got a text telling me my payment was PAST DUE!! Please Beware this company's commercial is very misleading.

Your service contract administrator has stated that your repair claim was submitted by your shop within the 20 day initial grace period. No claims will be considered for approval within that initial 20 day period, per your service contract terms.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you have been refunded in full.

I purchased CarShield back in August to have an extended warranty on my car in case something happens. I initially paid the $100 deposit and was told that if anything happens to my car all I needed to do was file a claim and it would be fixed. A month goes by I am billed $99 for the monthly fee. About a week or so goes by and I begin having trouble with my car. I call CarShield and they tell me to take my car to an ASE certified mechanic. I do that. I dropped my car off on a Thursday at the dealership the next day they call and tell me my transmission is gone. The dealership contacts CarShield and lets them know what’s going on that Friday. A representative from CarShield calls me and tells me that an adjuster will go out to the dealership to look at my car on Monday. Almost a week goes by and I haven’t heard anything. So I call CarShield they tell me that an adjuster just went out on that Thursday. Originally they’d guaranteed me that someone will be out there no later than Tuesday to look at my car. Another week and half goes by I still hadn’t heard whether or not my car would be covered. So my partner calls because at this point we’re frustrated from having to play the waiting game. CarShield tells him that I need to submit any documentation of service on my car preferably oil changes. I submitted the paperwork a week before my parter called. They finally find my paperwork and tell him that that’s not enough proof that I’d been keeping up the maintenance. CarShield never told me that I needed to submit anything other than oil changes. But this representative said that I needed more proof. How could I get proof when there was nothing ever wrong with the car prior to this. Long story short they ripped me off and had me believing that they would fix my car. But instead I’ve lost money and my car still hasn’t been fixed. When they told me when the issue first happened as long as I had paperwork my car would be covered and fix. They are a scam and I’m pretty sure they’ve ripped off other people.

Be very aware of this company. I can’t speak to its service because we never got a chance to use it. I am POA on for my mother who took out the policy. She shortly came ill and couldn’t drive, so she called and attempted to cancel the policy. She continued to be billed ever month. She died and I contacted the several times trying to rectify the situation and get them to stop charging the monthly fee. They told me they couldn’t because the POA is negated after her death. Well they have you there don’t they? The person who took the policy out has to cancel and since she is unable to do that given her death, so they continue to collect 99 dollar a month and provide nothing. DO NOT LET YOUR PARENTS FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

Please forward us the contract account number, last 6 of VIN number, or the phone number that would have been used to set up this coverage to ***. We would be happy to look into this for you and take care of the refund.

I took my car to the Nissan dealership for transmission issues. I let Carshield know. They asked for two different diagnostic tests--separate from one another. The second one they asked for required for the transmission panel to come off and pictures to be taken. The adjuster came out and agreed that the transmission needed to be replaced. It took Carshield 14 days to decide. The Replaced the transmission but charged me for the diagnostic and only paid for 3 days of the rental car which is not what they said to me or what they claim in their television advertising. I paid $400 for the diagnostic that they requested and I paid $590 for the rental car.

CarShield Response • Oct 31, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have contacted your service contract administrator/obligor, American Auto Shield, on your behalf. They stated that they paid for your transmission replacement in the amount of $3352.15 on September 30, 2019. Per your contract terms, they pay for the rental car based on the number of labor hours listed for your repair facility to do the work. If there was a delay with your repair facility completing the work on your vehicle, those hours/days of rental car use are not covered.

If you have any dispute regarding the processing of your repair claim by American Auto Shield, please see section M of your vehicle service contract. Any dispute regarding a repair claim will be settled by the Denver Revdex.com between yourself and American Auto Shield through the Revdex.com's arbitration rules. American Auto Shield's contact information, as shown on the first 2 pages of your service contract, ***. They will be able to assist you fully with any further dispute regarding their claim adjudication.

Again, they have let us know that they paid for your transmission repair and applicable rental in the amount of $3352.15.

Around the month of April, I decided to do business with CarShield by virtue of a commercial I had seen on tv on a couple of occasions. My warranty after the purchase of my car over a year ago was about to expire. I agreed to have $99 deducted from my account at that time. I felt CarShield was a reputable company and would help if circumstances warrant. Over two and a half weeks ago, the Check Engine light came on in my car. I took it directly to the dealership's (where I had purchased the car) service department. The dealership is *** in Richmond, IN. I received very bad news that I would require a new engine. I immediately called CarShield. Initially, I thought that the process was started for a claim. My service manager, ***, made repeated calls to attempt to get the claims process rolling and get an adjuster to look at the issue. Further, he provided information regarding what was wrong and an estimate as to what it would take to fix the engine problem. He was unsuccessful in many attempts to solicit assistance. After almost a week, *** finally contacted an adjuster. The adjuster told *** that the engine would have to be broken down. Unfortunately, *** told me that ***'s service department does not do this type of work. There has been difficulty in finding a local entity to do this breakdown. I also fear any additional costs that I may have to bear. I live in Connersville and have difficulty getting around since I no longer have a vehicle. That fleeting contact by my service manager is the only contact I am aware of. No further efforts have been made to assist me in getting a workable vehicle. I would like assistance in getting the vehicle to the appropriate facility at no charge to me, getting the engine broken down per instruction, and finally getting my car repaired by virtue of the terms of the contract.

CarShield Response • Oct 31, 2019

We have contacted your service contract administrator, ***, regarding the repair claim you have referenced. AAS stated that your repair facility said they do not do the diagnosis needed to show cause of failure for your engine repair. You stated that you did not wish to move your vehicle to a repair facility that would perform the proper diagnosis.

Without this diagnosis*** cannot move forward with your repair.

We show you contacted our customer service department on October 28, 2019 and requested cancellation of your service contract. Your contract has been cancelled as you requested and we will refund all payments you have made into your contract in a good faith effort to resolve your complaint.

Your initial payment of $99.00 will be refunded back to your MasterCard ending in 0490 within 3-5 business days. The remaining refund you are due will be mailed to your *** address. You should receive it in appx. 7-10 business days.
