I would give no stars if I could. They were awful to work with! They wouldn't call us or the auto shop back in a timely manner, then disqualified our claim because it was too late by the time they finally looked at our claim. They said we didn't wait for their inspector/adjuster saw the car, which was more than 3 wks later. They embarrassed us by harassing the repair shop, not returning calls, and wasting time. They finally decided they would pay less than $300 on a $800 bill, for something that should have been covered at 100%. NOW, they keep calling us to "renew" our policy that we cancelled and will not take NO for an answer! They are calling 4-5 times a day. DO NOT fall for this scam company!

You have not had an active service contract with us since August 27, 2018. We have removed your from our mailing and call list.

I am a paying customer of Car Shield. I pay for two automobiles to be covered by Car Shield. I have never made a claim. I received an offer in the mail offering a better service then I am paying for for $50.00 less per car than I am paying. When I first called in they offered me a price $100 more per month, per car and then came down to what I am paying now when I did not want their service at that price. Now I am receiving offers for a better level of service for much less than I have been paying. As a veteran I find this to be a disturbing practice of taking advantage of those who may be more vulnerable than another. I wonder how many customers they would receive if the company's ad's stated the price varies depending upon what we can get you to pay?

CarShield Response • Oct 31, 2019

Please provide a copy of the offer you are referring to. The cost of the service contract depends on the level of coverage your vehicle qualifies for.

Please provide us a copy of the offer and we will be happy to review the 2 contracts your currently have and compare your coverage to the coverage mentioned in the offer.

I had one claim on my vehicle because my timing belt just went and after all the *** they are not going to cover my claim evidently I need to keep every receipt from every service that ever happened on my vehicle even though my vehicles 18 years old they needed me to have a receipt for something that was done nine years ago without that receipt, they both basically told me to take a leap off a bridge .they would not cover anything. When people sign up for this thing they need to notify you that you have to have every record for every service ever done otherwise they will not cover you I would never use this place again

We have contacted your service contract administrator, *** (***), to check on the repair claim you have referenced. *** stated that your engine repair claim is under review, notes from 11/1/2019. Please contact *** at *** to check the status of their review.

This service was a complete waste of time. I felt pretty safe once my vehicle was covered, until it needed a new engine. Their claim process was nothing like described to me during the sale, and due to an "admin problem" I was left me with a massive bill and no help. After waiting over a week without contact I called them directly, got the run around, and they finally said the claim was denied because of clerical issues between the mechanic and them not meeting the "conditions of the contract". On top of that, the appraiser told me it wouldn't have been covered anyway due to the high mileage. Nothing was covered at all; towing, parts, labor, notta!! Complete waste of time... DON'T BE SCAMMED.

We contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf to obtain information on the repair claim you have brought to our attention. Your contract administrator spoke to you on 10/17/2019 and explained, per your service contract terms, the repair cannot be completed without authorization from the administrator to be considered for coverage. You elected to cancel your service contract and you are in the process of being refunded the 3 payments you have made.

I signed up with Carshield but receive billing from Matco. I told them that I didn't want a recurring charge on my credit card. I wanted them to send me a statement, and I would send a check. They said that I did have that option, but that I had to sign up for the program using the credit card which I did. But later, I did not receive a statement, but they did charge my credit card which I told them not to do. When I called them, they told me they were paperless, but I got a welcome letter in the mail. They charged me $79.00 to start the account which I have since cancelled.

The company advertised services that at every turn, they deny. The one time I thought they covered a service, the dealer contacted me saying they did not cover it, and that I was liable for the repairs done. With this warranty, my cooling system was supposed to be covered, and I assumed that the fan was part of the cooling system. They told me the fan was not covered, and because the fan breaking caused the radiator to crack, the whole repair wouldnt be covered. This was 3 months after the repair had been done. When contacted about other repairs, they refused my claim stating that they do not cover ware and tare on my vehicle, and only part failure. Essentially making it to where I can never have a repair done.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and help in the resolution of this matter.

We have contacted your service contract administrator/obligor, American Auto Shield, to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. American Auto Shield, as the administrator/obligor of your service contract, has full authority and liability for all repair claim procedures, approvals and denials. They stated that your repair facility let them know that your vehicle had been in the shop since 7/6/2019 with an overheating issue. Claim was called in on or about 10/14/2019. The clutch fan and radiator hoses that needed to be replaced are not listed as covered components under your service contract terms. When your service contract administrator called your repair facility later on 10/14/2019 they were told that the repair had been completed and the vehicle was gone.

As stated in your service contract terms, prior authorization is required from the service contract administrator before repairs are completed. American Auto Shield's claim notes state that they spoke with you on 10/15/2019 and you stated that the repair facility was at fault for repairing the vehicle without prior authorization. Please contact American Auto Shield regarding consideration of reimbursement of any covered components by sending them a signed copy of your repair invoice. They would be able to fully address that request, however approval of this request is not guaranteed.

On April 23 of 2019 I purchaced an auto service contract from Car Shield which they began to deduct payments of 135.00 each month from my checking account. On july I took my vehicle to get serviced because of a loud noise coming from the frontend. When Car Shield was notfied of the problem, Car Shield refused to pay to repair the car and canceled the insurance policy. The reason they stated to me was that the car had to many miles. My car is a 2011 SRX4 Cadillac and has only 71,000 miles. Car Shield never mentioned that my car had too many miles when I purchased the auto service contract with them. After takeing out 135.00, a total of four times, they refused to pay to get it fixed and canceled me.

CarShield Response • Oct 25, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and clarify the reason for your claim denial by your service contract administrator.

We contacted American Auto Shield, your service contract administrator/obligor, to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. American Auto Shield stated that your service contract was void, per your service contract terms, due to a misrepresentation of the mileage given when you purchased your service contract. During the purchase you were asked exactly how many miles your vehicle had on the odometer. You stated that your mileage was 46,046 on April 3, 2019. When your claim was presented in July and your service contract administrator obtained service records; there were several records with your vehicle having over 69,000 miles in March of 2019, prior to your service contract purchase.

Per your contract terms, the administrator may immediately cancel your contract for misrepresentation in obtaining the contract.

You may contact your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, directly if you have any further questions regarding their decision to void your contract. Their contact information is listed on the first page of your service contract under administrator. ***

You have already been issued a refund back to your Visa Card ending in 6527 for your initial payment of 127.00. You should receive the remainder of your full refund in appx. 7-10 days.

CarShield Response • Nov 01, 2019

Per your service contract terms, cause of failure needs to be determined by your repair facility before your repair claim can move forward. Diagnostics to find cause of failure would need to be authorized for the repair claim to proceed.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded the 3 payments you have made.

Over the last couple of months, I have received mailings from CarShield. On the envelope it reads "Personal and Confidential Open Immediately IMPORTANT."

Inside the letter reads "RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE REQUESTED" above the recipient's name and address. The first things I found odd was that the first name was not correct. It was no where close to correct. I wondered how this company got my last name and mailing address but had an incorrect first name. The name that they used was ***." Also, On the first notice there was a section with the Year/Make/Model of a car as well...a car I do not own nor have I ever owned a 2013 Mercedes Benz GLK. This also struck me as odd.

When one unfolds the notice, it reads "IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED" with a customer ID, stating that coverage is "AVAILABLE" and a respond by date. Then there is a paragraph following a greeting that reads:
"Attention: ***------, Our records inidate that you have not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated. we are informing you that if your factory warranty has expired, you will be responsible for paying any repairs. However, if expired, you can still activate a service contract on your vehicle before it's too late. Please call *** Today."

The rest of the letter includes a "SUMMARY OF TERMS," "IMPORTANT VEHICLE PROTECTION INFORMATION," etc. with the phone listed and "PLEASE RESPOND BY:" again.

I could have ignored this letter as another piece of junk mail but I found the first name of ***" as well as the idea that I owned a 2013 Mercedes Benz GLK to be quite hilarious so I decided to call the number to have a little fun. The first time I called, I asked where they got the information on this car as I do not own that car. The person who I was speaking to said that they just put information in to "hold the place." The next time I called the vehicle apparently changed from the Mercedes Benz to a Mercury Sable. If I said I didn't have a car they would say to just disregard the letter as it must have been sent by error. At the end of my calls they would say that they would remove my information from their system and that I should no longer receive calls or letters. Each time I called back though, the customer ID as well as the name was still apparently active in their system so I would have a little more fun on the phone, including making up a story similar to that which occurs in Ferris Beuller's Day Off where the car was set in reverse to try to run off the miles then it is accidentally knocked off the jack stands then drives out the window.

I got another notice in the mail dated exactly a month after the first one. Though still addressed to ***" it did not include a vehicle's information but the rest of the letter was basically the same. The other difference was the contact phone number which was *** this time.

I decided to call that one a couple times as well, this time asking them who is ***." When I called the second time, they had apparently put in their system that the name was incorrect. I asked the person where they get the names of the people that they are sending these letters to and I was transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor said that they make calls and send letters only to people who sign up on their website so I must have signed up. I stated that I did not and that I would be in touch with the Revdex.com regarding these unsolicited letters. The supervisors said "You do that." I also requested that I, nor any other name that they want to try to use receive any more of these letters.

It is around the time of the month that the previous letters have been sent so we will see if they complied or not.

I can see I am not the first, nor likely will be the last to get these letters. If I get more, I probably will have more fun messing with them by phone during my lunch breaks. Why not? Ha! Clearly they are not an honest business with any sort of good will toward their customer so I feel no remorse to have fun at their expense.

I entered into a contract with CarShield on July 02, 2019, as a bit of protection for my infinity G35. On August 18, 2019, I had a mechanical break down that resulted to needing a new transmission. I followed the procedures for which I was told by CarShield to the letter to get the vehicle to repair shop for inspection of the issue. Well I was told that the adjuster had to go out to see the car before anything could be authorize towards the repair of the vehicle. The adjuster came out the same day the vehicle was towed to the repair shop to access the issue and stated that he would get back to the dealer repair shop, but in the mean time the adjuster had collected a car fact on the vehicle which stated that the vehicle mileage did not match according the last history and because of that it could not be covered under the warranted agreement but he had to confirm with the home office on the matter. Well after two days of not hearing from the adjuster the mechanic shop called me to authorize the repair job so that they could move forward on the vehicle repairs, so I gave authorization to make the repairs. I called CarShield of the matter and was told that they could not paid toward the repairs being that CarShield never gave authorization toward the repairs and that the contract was voided. I explained that the adjuster had already stated to the repair shop that it would not be paid due to the difference in the mileage history and current reading miles. So then I had a rep to state to me that because of the car history fact the policy would have been canceled any way and any refund would be sent back to me. Well as of today I have not receive any refund for the three months I paid towards the contract which I feel that I am due since they were going to cancel the policy anyway.

We purchased car shield and a few months later had engine problems. We took it to the shop and car shield first refused to cover anything until they took the engine down. Then they refused to cover anything because they said the mileage was recorded wrong so they had to go back and review our purchase recording. Then they said they wouldn't cover it because it was considered in storage when we told them it was a third car we didnt drive on the purchase of the warranty. Then they told me they do cover cars in storage but the issue was we didnt drive it enough miles for a timing belt to break. I said anything can go wrong at anytime just as they advertise they are there because breakdowns can happen at anytime. Then they told us they could get us a discount on parts. We called the garage and they said no carshield wont give a discount. Also they advertise you have coverage for a rental car. No. They give you a 25 dollar refund after the fact if the car is coverage. We constantly got the run around. I feel lied to, it caused us financial stress as we had to pay 1300 just to tow our car out of there with a torn apart engine. I think I deserve my money back for the months I paid or the 1300.

I purchased a contract with this company and about 2 months later I had an issue with my car. I was told to take it to the car repair facility and find out the problem and then have them call car shield claims. when they were told the problem in my transmission car shield denied the claim for repairs because they said they don't cover electronic parts. number one almost every part on a car have something to do with electronics. but when I purchased the service the advertisement nor the agent I talked to on the phone said anything about it. also in the advertisement it said that while your car is being repaired they would get you a car rental and that is also false when I asked them about this they said that I needed to get a rental car and they would reimburse up to 40.00 a day. so they don't give us the car we have to get it and then wait for them to send us the money back. the whole advertisement is a misleading and false information. this service cost me almost 200.00 a month for my 2 cars and when I needed them I had to pay 2500.00 for the repairs they denied

I have a car warranty with car shield with understanding that my car will be repaired when need be,when without warning my car develop a problem with the transmission, without any warning the Transmission went out. I took my car to ***. They discover that I had transmission issue, I notified car shield and for 2 weeks there were unnecessary delays ,They were not answering the phone calls of the mechanic, when I contacted them they answered at last.it was at this point they decided to send an inspector who inspected the transmission and wrote a report after the report the mechanic tried to contact car shield for further course of action to no avail. Messages were left without response, when they finally respond to my call they requested for the maintenance record which was faxed to them immediately. When we did not hear from them after 2 days the auto mechanic and I called several times before they answer the phone only to tell us that they did not receive the previous fax so we resent the fax (the mechanic and i) to their office a second time. ,After so many delays with no result I called car shield to cancel my claim and my contract when they told me that my claim was looking like it would be approve. the report from the first inspection was accepted and all was needed was for me to give my approval for the tair dowm of the transmission. I gave my approval only to be told later that they would deny my claim.I was given two different reason for this action after calling back two different times They first said that I was told by my maintenance shop to flush the transmission and I did not. They then said that I was told that I needed a transmission and my transmission had
a pre-existing condition. They never did the final inspection to see what was going on internal with the transmission before reaching that conclusion.the mechanic showed me the fluid and it I looked very good.He showed me what it look like when the fluid look burnt. I think this is outrageous.
