In February 2020 I purchased a Gold Package from CarSheild. In August of 2020 my timing chain needed replacement, which is covered under my contract with Carshield. I had a car towed to an ASE certified Chevy dealership and began the claims process with American Auto Shield. The shop sent over the diagnostics and repair estimates via fax and I was told by CarShield that I would be contacted when the car was ready to be picked up.
After several business days I didn't hear from anyone so I contacted CarSheild again, only to learn that the claim hadn't been started. After some back and forth I personally submitted the diagnostics and estimates myself and was told that an adjuster would contact the shop within 24-48 hours. At this point my car had been at the shop for one week.
I was under the impression that work would start by Tuesday 8/25, well after the 48 hour period. Unfortunately the most I could get was "an email was sent to the shop." This proved to be false. My car has now been at the shop for a week and a half with no work started.
I have been told that "these are the next steps" but a clear outline of the steps have not been provided to the shop or myself, as the customer and the consumer.
I am now being told to approve work or my car would be towed back to my home, completely wasting more of my time. CarShield and American AutoShield are the source of a communication breakdown that will cost me thousands of dollars, as I'm CERTAIN that as soon as I approve the work they will refuse to cover the costs of repair. There are reasons why it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a shop that will work with this company.
We apologize for the delays in facilitating your claim.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most American Auto Shield ("AAS") employees are working remotely; as a result, some callers are experiencing connection issues and extended hold times. Likewise, during the week of July 20, 2020, we experienced interruptions to our claims and telephone systems. Our systems are now fully operational and we are working to reach out to all claimants who were affected during that week. We realize these issues are not acceptable and certainly do not reflect our commitment to provide the highest levels of service. We apologize for the customer’s inconvenience and look forward to providing excellent service in the future. Our systems are now fully operational and we are working to reach out to all claimants who were affected during the previous week. We realize these issues are not acceptable and certainly do not reflect our commitment to provide the highest levels of service. We apologize for the customer’s inconvenience and look forward to providing excellent service in the future. We have escalated this with leadership in the Claims Department and you should receive a call back by the end of the following business day.
We appreciate your continued patience.

is here to address your concerns. CarShield is suing the Revdex.com-St. Louis. CarShield
recently filed a lawsuit against the Revdex.com-St. Louis. The lawsuit asserts that
the Revdex.com- St. Louis is biased against CarShield and that the Revdex.com-St. Louis has
used improper means through the use of misrepresentation relating to CarShield. A copy of the lawsuit is available at http://www.Revdex.comBias.com
I got CarShield on 06-16-2020 and met all my requirements by 07-06-2020 and had a issue with my engine seeming to want to cut off on me while driving on 07-07-2020. I took my vehicle the shop on 07-07-2020 and and was forced to get a rental due to my vehicle not working properly.
CarShield authorized my shop to do a tear down to do a diagnosis as well as requested me to snd in service records and did such.
I have not been able to get y car back nor has my shop been able to reach anyone in the claims depart to repair my vehicle as of 08-25-2020. CarShield claims handler American Auto shield has denied my claim "not covered and issue due to pre-existaning issue" which my shop and records have deemed to be completely and utterly false.
On 06-29-2020 I took my vehicle in to get an oil change and the shop said it was making noise and riding rough due to needing its oil change. The shop also alerted me that the check engine light came on while performing my oil change.
I had the run a full check on 06-30-2020 to see what the issue was as it was the close of business on 06-29-2020 when they completed my oil change. The codes that came up with the check engine light was in error and were rectified 100% when I eft the shop and the shop has verified it on multiple occasions to CarShield whom only seems to reroute to American Auto Shield and they never pick up the phone nor call the *** back.
CarShield refuses to pay my claim by coming up with every single excuse under the sun they have also failed and denied my rental reimbursement which has totaled $1,100 due to their issues in communication as well as being truthful. They have also left me a $792.00 tear down bill for the tear down of my vehicle motor in which their agents authorized. While also refusing to repair my vehicle although its a covered part under the contract and it was not pre-existing.
They are also expecting me to continue the monthly payments of $99 a month although I have had zero resolution to my issues only more and more hoops to jump through and excuses. Also the hold time for American Auto Shield has ranged from 4-8 hours I have documented me being on hold 15 times for 7-8 hours in que only to never have anyone pick up or when they pick up the hang up immediately.
My vehicle is sitting in the shop with the motor torn down at CarShield request
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per their notes your contract was purchased on 6/16/20. On 7/7/20, 21 days later, a claim was initiated for a check engine light and engine issues. The claims department requested the needed service records which are detailed below:-On 6/29/20, an oil change was performed at Auto Max Automotive, the invoice advised the customer of needed services: Engine runs rough, Check Engine Light on, Engine Knocking.-On 6/30/20, the vehicle was returned to the same repair facility with a check engine light. The invoice from the repair facility stated needed services: replace timing chain and camshaft, engine needs tear down for proper diagnosis. Therefore the diagnosis, issues and repair request presented on 7/7/20 were the same as those documented on 6/30/20. This failure occurred in the 20 day waiting period for the contract and are not covered by the contract terms.
As noted in your contract, rental reimbursement will only be authorized on an authorized claim. Also your repair facility has to receive authorization from you to perform the tear down as our claims specialists are not allowed to authorize any tear down due to the chance of it not being covered if the claim isn't approved. CarShield is willing to refund your payments as a gesture of goodwill and in a good faith effort to resolve this matter. Please let us know if this is acceptable to you and we will process your request upon receipt.
If you have any further questions or disputes regarding your repair claim, please contact American Auto Shield directly or see Section M, Dispute Resolution, of your contract.
We look forward to hearing from you and working towards a resolution on this matter.

I am rejecting this response because:
The issues they are bringing up from 06/30/2020 were resolved and are not any way apart of the issues involving my vehicle no one has asked then to repair the vehicle based on documents from 06/30/2020 myself and the repair facility have sent in multiple documents debunking the issues on. 06/30/2020. This again is a reason for them to not fix or pay for anything
Sincerely
Thank you for reaching out again.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
When I called CarShield just yesterday the words be typed are not being honored and reaching someone at American Auto Shield has been a Disaster. You all have my information no one has reached out directly to me.I PAID A MONTHLY PREMIUM OF $99 TO CARSHIELD TO COVER MY VEHICLE. YOU ALL SUBCONTRACT IT OUT TO AMERICAN AUTO SHIELD WHOM HAS CREATED THIS ENTIRE FIASCO BY NOT BEING PROFESSIONAL IN REPLYING CALLING BACK OR FOLLOWING THE SERVICE RECORD OR USING COMMON SENSE.MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE 07-07-2020 THE SERVICE RECORD FROM 06-29-2020 06-30-2020 WERE FOR A OIL CHANGE AND TO MAKE SURE THE ISSUES WERE RECTIFIED. ONCE GIVEN A APPROVAL FOR TEAR DOWN THE REPAIR FACILITY NOTICED ANEW ISSUE UNRELATED TO THE ISSUES ON 06-29-2020 CODES( COMPLETELY UNRELATED). NOW I AND THE SHOP HAVE SENT OVER COUNTLESS INVOICES DEBUNKING THE FALSE CLAIM OF PRE-EXISTING ISSUES THAT WE ARE REQUESTING TO BE REPAIRED. ALSO YOU ALL MADE IT VERY CLEAR VIA PHONE YESTERDAY SINCE AUGSUT AND SEPTEMBER WAS NOT PAID THEN YOU WILL NOT PAY FOR THE CLAIM THAT WAS DURNING THE PERIOD I PAID FOR AS PROOF IM ATTACHING THE INVOICES TO SHOW CUSTOMER HOW FAR AMERICAN AUTO SHIELD AND CARSHIELD WILL GO TO LIE AND NOT REPAIR THE CUSTOMERS VEHICLES.
ON 07-09-2020 YOU CARSHIELD REQUESTED MY LATEST SERVICE RECORDS WHICH I SUPPLIED. THOSE RECORDS SHOWED ON 06-29-30 (WAITING PERIOD)I GOT A OIL CHANGE THAT THE ENGINE RODE ROUGH AND HAD CODES AT SOME POINT IN THE OIL CHANGE PROCESS. ANY MECHANIC CAN TELLL YOU WHEN A VEHICLE NEEDS OIL OR CHANGE IT MAY NOT RIDE THE BEST AND THAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND CODES COME UP ALL THE TIME AND CAN BE FAULTY.ON 07-09-2020 I ALSO SENT IN THE INVOICE FROM 06-30-202 (WAITING PERIOD STILL) WHERE IT SHOWED I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ADRESS AND CODES ADRESSED AND PAID OUT OF POCKET $99 FOR THE ISSUES TO RESOLVED AND PROPERLY LOOKED AT BOTH THOSE INVOICES ARE ATTACHED.ON 07-07-2020 I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO THE REPAIR FACILITY FOR A BRAND NEW ISSUE IN THE COVERED TIME FRAME AS MY WAITING PERIOD ENDED ON (07-06-2020). MY VEHICLE ENGINE ABRUPTLY BEGAN TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN NEARLY CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT I TOOK MY VEHICE TO THE SHOP IMMEDIATELY AS IT WAS CLOSER TO ME THAN GOING HOME. I BEGAN THE CLAIM PROCESS AND THE SHOP WAS AUTHORIZED EVERYTHING HAD TO GO THROUGH AMERICAN AUTO SHIELDOR CARSHIELD FOR APPROVAL ON A TEAR DOWN.UPON APPROVAL FROM TWO CARSHIELD AGENTS MY VEHICLE WAS TORN DOWN AND GIVEN AN UNRELATED DIAGNOSIS TO ANY OF THE CODES SENT ON THE SERVICE RECORD FROM 06-29-2020 OR 06-30-2020. IT TOOK FROM 07-10-2020 UNTIL 08-13-2020 FOR YOU ALL TO RECEIVE THE INFORMATION FORM THE TEAR DOWN DUE TO YOUR FAILED COMMUNICATION METHODS WITH THE REPAIR FACILITY. I HAD TO PERSONALLY GET DOCUMENTS AND SEND TO YOU ALL BECAUSE YOU ALL REFUSED TO ANSWER THE SHOPS CALLS OR RETURN THEIR VOICES MAILS.NOW YOU ALL ARE TRYING TO DENY THE CLAIM UNDER BOGUS ALLEGATIONS OTHER FUTURE AND CURRENT CUSTOMERS NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH BEHIND THE CARSHIELD AMERICAN AUTOSHIELD SCAM. I DEMAND MORE THAN A REFUND AS MY VEHICLE SITS IN A SHOP TORN DOWN AND UNREPAIRED ITS UNACCEPTALBLE AND A REFUND IS ONLY A FRACTION TO REPAIR AND REIMBURSE ME FOR THE RENTALS.
Sincerely,
Robert Simmons
We paid our premium monthly on a regular basis but when it was time to make a claim, I could not get in touch with anybody. We left messages that were never returned when I called their claim number. I was told their computers were down when I called other departments. It has been 3 months and the claim on my van has not been confirmed.

I currently have a claim that’s more a month old and the adjuster still hasn’t gotten back to me nor the dealership. They claim that they’ve had a power outage back in July but the service is still the same. I’ve spent hours on hold on the telephone, six hours at most only to have a customer service rep lie and tell me someone will call me back. Unless they repair my car as advertised I am requesting a full refund due to false advertisement.

I have been having an issue with my transmission. I had to take my car into the shop about 2 months ago because my transmission was not working right. When I took it to the shop, they had told me that there was fluid from the radiator that went into the transmission. CarShield is not helping to cover these costs. I pay them every bill ever since I started my policy back in 2016.

I've been waiting a month for them to pay to get car fixed but they won't fix it even though the part is covered under my warranty
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
As noted on the first three pages of your contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator of your vehicle service contract. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per the claims department notes, they spoke to your repair facility on August 18th, 2020 and the repair facility informed them they don't to tear downs or transmission overhauls. There was a detailed message left on your voicemail regarding that information. Your claim has since been moved to inactive status since there has been no communication from you since August 18th, 2020. If you would like to re-open your claim, please have the new repair facility call American Auto Shield with the tear down results so that an adjuster can be assigned and the claim can move forward.
If you are unhappy with you contract, CarShield is willing to refund our payments in full as a good faith effort to resolve this matter. This would cancel your contract.
Please let us know how you would like to proceed. We look forward to working towards a resolution on this matter.

Two weeks ago I took out n account with Carshield to cover my 2017 XTS4 Cadillac. I did not know my husband had coverage through the Baker Cadillac dealer, so I called Carshield approximately 8 times in one week and was either left on the phone for long periods of time or transferred to a customer service number, and was then hung up on after waiting 20 minutes, sometimes longer. They told me that they would not be able to finalize the contract until I called back with the VIN number. I never called them with the VIN # , but they withdrew the first payment from my account of 129.97. I only want to cancel the contract and have my money returned to my credit card. They also told me I had up to 20 days to cancel the contract. I feel this is there way of delaying my being able to cancel the contract and retrieve the money back that they should have not taken in the first place.

This co refers claims to ***. I submitted a claim 7 weeks ago for towing, the repair center could never get a return call for authorization of repairs. After I paid out of pocket for everything the claims adjuster finally considered less than half of the bill. I requested a cancellation of the the claim and return of 8 months of premiums. Had a contract for 3 months paying $100 a month. First incident my alternator and starter had went out and I called car shield but they said they couldn’t cover because I wasn’t 20 days into my contract even though I was a month plus into my contract. Second incident my catalytic converters went out which is a engine problem and they wouldn’t change the part. There’s no where in the contract where it says I can’t get my catalytic converter fixed so I basically paid them $400 for nothing I would love to get reimbursed at least full or half of my money. This is highway robbery for a terrible *** company

Would not suggest carshield to anyone. The sales representative lied when offering the Gold plan, stating repairs will be covered...car broke and set at the repair shop for 3 weeks. Claim denied for repairs. Due to the 3 weeks had to rent cars. Now out of 1600 for repairs. Out of money for rental cars and have been paying monthly for the warranty services that covers nothing. Carshield is a scam. I will tell all who will listen
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I thought car shield would be great in case of a major issue with my vehicle boy was I wrong... my car started running rough so I immediately took my car to a mechanic I was referred to by google they found out I had a bad valve and would need a new engine... after 3 months of my car sitting at the shop waiting for Approval and after making me pay for over 500$ in tests to determine failure and after the mechanic stated the car didn’t appear to fail due to lack of maintenance they denied my claim... not to mention after a month of not having my car I told car shield I didn’t want to continue with the services they still charged me and said I had to continue to have service in order for them to approve my claim after three months they deny me.. I’m on disability and on a fixed income and they just argue with me and do anything to weasel out of a claim but they don’t realize they are messing up lives

miles on it. There are no tags on the vehicle and the title does not require
mileage shown so we have no way to verify if the vehicle has been in use. The
carbon build up in the cylinder head is clear that the valve was stuck open and
burned due to this, the inspection also noted possible known oil leaks and long
term with a jug of oil and funnel in the front seat. The vehicle was driven in
to the repair facility and the inspection also noted engine damage is consistent
with operation of vehicle with damaged components. Below I have outlined the
Exclusions section of your contract and how the contract reads, these are the
reason for the denial on your claim.Exclusions
section D, sub-sections B, M, P and Q.

I took my vehicle to *** Chevrolet 6/30/2020 for engine repairs the mechanic told them the number 2 piston had needed to be fix that's after the first inspector told them they needed to break down the engine they said it was from a lack of maintenance I fax them my oil change records I changed my oil every time my oil change light came on
The mechanic told my service man that they were trying to get out of paying for my repairs I am going to take legal action against American auto shield
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted the administrator of your contract to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per their notes, the piston rings are severely clogged with carbon causing the piston rings to seize in a compressed position. As noted in the Exclusions section of your contract, carbon build up is not listed for coverage under your service contract terms. We see you have spoken to a claims specialist and requested a second inspection for the axle denial as the inspection does not verify the failure to them. The claims department will be in touch with you when the second inspection is set.
We look forward to working towards a resolution in this matter and appreciate you being a loyal CarShield customer. We have also attached a copy of your contract for your convenience.

I want to start with the fact they have very rude and unprofessional customer service. My 2011 Dodge Durango was put into the mechanic shop Allstar Dodge back on June 23, 2020 for a check engine light that later be transmission issues. My main complaints are it took almost 2 months from 6-23-20 through 8-4-20 for an Adjuster to approve the claim for the repair of my vehicle and rental car fees not being covered. The issues I faced day to day were related to both Carshield/AutoShield and Allstar making contact with one another and what was going to be covered and not covered, failing to arrange for the adjuster/inspector to meet and/or talk resolving what Carshield/AutoShield would cover and what the client being myself would cover. Also, American AutoShield/CarShield was suppose to cover 100% of the labor fees and only covered 50%. I was held liable for rental car fees because of claims that American AutoShield had system failure for over a week and behind on calls due to COVID, something that neither of us had control over. So I the customer was stuck with the bill for the additional rental car fees when I had been hung up on multiple days and placed on hold for hours which in turn led to additional days for the rental car. I didn't feel that was right and I stressed this to Autoshield/CarShield. After it was all said and done I was left with bill of $2173.97 with no payment arrangements placing hardship on my family during a time when my Husband had been laid off.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator of your contract. We see in their notes. there was large delay in getting records and things sent in to the claims department. You claim is authorized right now for transmission replacement and your repairs are done. The repair facility has not been paid yet because the invoice had a different name than the contract. American Auto Shield attempted to reach out to repair facility to go over invoice to get exact charges on your vehicle but they did not answer. There was a message left for them to please call American Auto Shield to get this claim moving forward. Please reach out to your repair facility and have them call *** at their earliest convenience with the information needed.
We look forward to working with you towards a resolution on this matter and appreciate your business.
