CarShield sent me a letter, indicating my current car warranty has expired and that I needed to active my account with them or I would be responsible for all repairs.
I have an extended warranty through my dealer (not CarShield) that does not expire for another 3 years.
This is a complete scam and deceptive business practices, trying to con individuals out of their money.

This business is incompetent. I lease my vehicle and have one year left. I have told them this a couple different times now. They keep hounding me to get an extended warranty on this vehicle that I'll be trading in for a new one next year .. something should be done about this ..

Extremely fishy and inappropriate business practice. They mailed a very vague letter making it sound like there was some kind of case open for me, saying "Our record indicate that you have not contact us to..." Well, why should I contact you at all when I had never had anything to do with you? When I called, it was nothing but a marketing spam. I'm also a little upset because this seems to indicate that Subaru may have sold my info to them (I bought a new car from Subaru, and now I'm getting spammed). Very unhappy about this.

January 31, 2018 at 5:39 pm, I called Car Shield to cancel my warranty service with them on 2 vehicles I own. I had a representative by the name of Jennifer take my call. I had told the representative I wanted to cancel the service on my vehicles. CarShield said that my truck had a mileage discrepancy and the warranty on that vehicle was voided and service was suppose to be terminated. Instead, they continue to bill me and charge my credit card for the vehicle. I called a couple times to cancel the warranty on the truck because I couldn't get the paperwork they requested for the mileage discrepancy. They wouldn't take no for an answer and keep insisting ways of keeping the coverage. So I had to cancel my credit card that was used to make the monthly payments since they continued to charge me. All I wanted to do was to cancel the service on both vehicles on today's call. Instead the representative got rude, and kept insisting for my reason as to why I wanted to terminate. I had already gave her a reason but it was not good enough for her. She has got to be the worst customer service representative I've ever dealt with!!! You just don't talk back to your customers that way. If a customer is asking for you to do something to their account after reason has been given, just do it. Don't argue with the customer at all! It's my choice and my money what I do with it. You don't tell your customer what they should do or what they could do. I've tried using their warranty twice in 2 separate occasions and both times, claims were denied. I just want my accounts cancelled.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this matter.

We are very sorry to hear you had an unpleasant phone conversation with one of our representatives. We will review that phone all and take any appropriate action necessary.

The two contracts you had purchased for your Malibu and your Ford F150 have been cancelled, as you requested. You will be receiving two checks, one for each contract's prorated refund. We have waived the cancellation fee for you as a gesture of goodwill. You should receive your refund checks in appx. 7 business days.

Again, we do apologize if the representative you spoke with was anything but polite and helpful, as we train our representatives to be. The matter will certainly be addressed.

I already made a pretty long review about this company on another page but I felt that I needed to share my experience here as well, so I'll keep it brief.
Bottom line, I absolutely felt pressured by this company to take on their service and I should have known better.. I learned my lesson, that is for sure.
I have never experienced such horrible customer service when I realized the mistake had been made and I needed to cancel.. these people are trained to talk you into staying with them no matter what and I get it, but I honestly feel so bad for them that they have been given this miserable task to judge people, belittle them, and make them feel like they are making the worst mistake of their life. I can't be sure, but I just don't know how a person could get any sleep at night knowing that their job is to just rip a person to shreds before they finally give in and decide not to cancel? I don't know who would simply turn around, after being treated that way, and change their minds.. This tactic absolutely does not work.. It might also be helpful to know that some people suffer from severe anxiety and it took A LOT of courage for them to make the phone call in the first place. This leaves a horrible taste in people's mouths and GUARANTEES that they will never again come back to the company.. Now THAT'S how you throw money out the window.

I received suspicious mail from this business stating that I needed to call and activate my warranty for my new vehicle. They had all the correct information, my name, address, vehicle make and model. However, because it wasn't from Volkswagen I called the dealership and they confirmed this is FRAUD. That Volkswagen handles all of their services and warranties through the dealership and nothing needs to be "confirmed". Don't call the number if you get similar mail! Call your dealership first!

I purchased the "Best Comprehensive Warranty" from Carshield for my 2008 Lexus last September. Carshield has debited my account for ~$150.00 each month since then. I called in January 16th because my mechanic was told that my amplifier was not covered per his conversation with Carshield. I called and was told to call another number which I did and was directed back to the original number with the man telling me his company only approved what Carshield told him to. WIth no amplifier, not only do I not have radio, but I also do not have warning system audio for my back up camera to avoid wrecks.

I was told by the representative that UNLESS the amplifier was SPECIFICALLY mentioned it was not covered.

I feel that I was misrepresented and lied to by a pushy sales person who would "tell me anything to make the sale". It was sold as "all inclusive" other than normal wear and tear, (brakes, etc). It was not the best nor comprehensive. Carshield has agreed to refund $150.00, but I feel that I should get a full refund of $150.00 for the 4 months that they drafted it from my account for a total of $600.00.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this issue.

We have check with United Car Care, the administrator of your service contract. They stated that a claim was submitted for an amplifier, that is not listed as covered in your United Car Care Diamond Prime service contract. United Car Care is an A+ rated Revdex.com Accredited company and has been in business for over 35 years. They understand that their customers purchase their service contracts in good faith, and they appreciate their trust in them. Therefore, in order to treat all customers fairly and continue to stay in business for their customers, UCC can only authorize claims that fall within the Terms and Conditions of the Vehicle Service Contract.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested. Your prorated refund, as outlined in your contract's terms and conditions, comes to 433.25. $150.00 was credited back to your card on January 29, 2017 and the remainder of your refund, $283.25, was mailed to your *** address on January 31, 2018.

Good experience on the sales side, they are willing to work w/you, with your budget. I purchased Platinum - which is the highest level of coverage - a continuation of the vehicle warranty - they tell me. I can cancel at any time, equal payments over 24 mo w/o interest. I don't have claim experience - yet. Be aware that this is a sales environment, don't take the first $ offer.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your complaint.

There are dozens marketing companies out there that "cold call" consumer and send out mailed advertisements. CarShield does not "cold call" consumers. We record all incoming and outgoing calls and show only 2 incoming calls from the number you listed in this complaint on 1/25/2018. We removed your information from our mailing list, as you requested, at that time.

We do not show any other calls from or to the number you have listed. If you have called a company in the past, it was not CarShield.

Again, we have removed your contact information from our mailing list as you requested.

Car Shield lists coverages in the contract, yet when going for service where one of those components needs repaired or replaced, it is suddenly "not covered" somehow.
I bought higher coverage for more vehicle components, but I have still totaled almost $1000 in "not covered" repairs on top of paying for Car Shield's promises.I've made payments both credit card and direct bank payment. This company gives false information of coverage on their contracts, then denies the coverage in some form or another, causing out of pocket costs that are unexpected. I've called to see if a repair would be covered and told yes, then the repair facility calls and Car Shield says no, then I call Car Shield back and they say "maybe, it depends" only to have the repair not covered despite it being listed as coverable.

CarShield Response • Feb 01, 2018

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this issue.

We contacted Interstate National Dealer Services, the administrator of your service contract, to obtain information about any claims you have submitted. INDS stated that 2 claims have been submitted. The first claim was submitted in August of 2017 for a wheel bearing that was worn and making a lot of noise. Wheel bearings are not listed as a covered component, so the claim was denied by INDS.

The second claim was submitted in January of 2018 for worn serpentine belt, a leaking valve cover gasket and a leaking oil pan gasket. The serpentine belt was covered and paid for minus the deductible of $100.00. The valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket are not listed as covered under this contract and replacement cost was denied by INDS because of that.

We have received your request to cancel your coverage. Yourservice contract will be cancelled as you requested and you will be issued a prorated refund, as stated in your contract's terms and conditions. We have waived the cancellation fee as a gesture of goodwill. Your refund comes to 611.83. You should receive your refund within 15 business day.

On 01/12/2018 I received a predacious mailing notice from CarShield. In an envelope marked "Personal and Confidential," "Open Immediately," and "IMPORTANT," CarShield had enclosed an advertisement for their vehicle warranty coverage services. The ad contained language and font formatting which falsely construes a sense of urgency, including: "IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED;" "RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE REQUESTED;" "SUMMARY OF TERMS;" and "IMPORTANT VEHICLE PROTECTION INFORMATION." The lower half of the letter contains a table that could be easily misconstrued as a payment schedule for a past due bill. This solicitation is alarmist, loaded, and highly questionable as a legitimate form of advertisement.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We would be happy to remove you from our mailing list.

If you could provide us with the ID number that appears on mailers that are sent on our behalf; we would be able to verify that the mailer was sent on our behalf and remove you from our mailing list.

The agents are rude and uninformed. Getting very basic questions answered is not possible and then they just talk over you and hang up.
I took the time today to try and understand what they are offering and they just get stressed and hang up when you ask anything which is not in their wooden pitch. They bombard me with calls and letters ( which they say they on call that they do not do )
Whats a shame is it looks like they have a business that people could be interested in, but the communication is preventing people being interested.

I received a piece of mail addressed to my house but had my first name incorrect. There is no history of anyone else with my last name having lived at my residence. It wants me to call to have my vehicle service contract activated on a vehicle I don't own. And it has a customer ID number for an account I have never opened. I checked my credit report and didn't find any fraud. This is highly suspicious at best.

CarShield Response • Jan 22, 2018

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for the mistake by our mail house with the incorrect name and address.

We have removed that information from our mailing list. You should receive no additional mail pieces from our company.

Again, we are sorry for the mistake and have deleted that information from our system.

I enrolled with Car Shield's extended warranty for my 2004 Chrysler 300 in October 2017. I made the first payment by credit card. At the time of enrollment, I instructed Car Shield going forward to send me a monthly bill and I would pay by check. However, Car Shield charged my debit card $150 for November's payment. I called Car Shield to cancel my coverage since they did not follow my instructions for billing. I was told I was only receiving a refund of $60 but have not received it yet. I should receive the full refund of $150 since I had cancelled my coverage. I called them as soon as I received my statement for the November charge. I was given a tracking number for the refund but it has not been deposited to my account.

CarShield Response • Jan 28, 2018

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this matter.

Per your contract's terms and conditions, you would have received a full refund if you chose to cancel coverage within the first 30 days. If you choose to cancel your coverage after the first 30 days, a prorated refund is issued. Your coverage was purchased on September 23, 2017. You chose to cancel your coverage well after the first 30 day period. That is why you were issued a prorated refund.

The 61.37 prorated refund you are due has been credited back to your *** Card ending in *** as of January 5, 2018. We are willing to make an exception and refund you an additional 88.63 to your *** ending in ***. This brings your total refund to 150.00.

We are sorry to lose you as a customer.

Its ridiculous that this company will promise that ac/heating and electrical is fully covered just to get you to sign up, but when something electrical goes wrong... "Sorry, we don't cover that part." even though I specifically signed up and was told that it was fully covered. I have yet to use the service because the few times I experienced problems with my vehicle, they won't cover it. They actually had the nerve to call trying to get me to pay my whole plan off at once. I'm paying over $1200 a year for this, but still get stuck paying $400+ per repair because they are not helping me at all, but they sure love taking my money!

CarShield Response • Jan 10, 2018

Thank you bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to help you in the resolution of this matter.
We do show in your file notes that you called us back the same day you set up coverage and asked about a blower motor being covered. At that time, as was stated in the sales call, you were within the 30 day and 1000 mile initial grace period of your contract.
We contacted United Car Care to check on the status of any repair claims that have been submitted. They showed only one claim being submitted on January 9, 2018 for the blower motor and resistor and harness end. These parts are not listed as covered, as shown in your United Car Care Powertrain Gold Service Contract Booklet.
If you had the blower motor repaired when you first mentioned the problem in April of 2017; repair facilities generally have a warranty that runs for a certain length of time after a repair is made. You might want to check with the repair facility you initially used for that repair, if your blower motor has gone out again.
We have notes in your file that we have assisted you with discounts totaling $700.00 and a deferred monthly payment to help you out. If you need another copy of your service contract or need any further assistance; please don't hesitate to call our customer service department at

Customer Response • Jan 10, 2018

In April 2017, I paid out of pocket to replace my blower (Close to $600) because this issue occurred before the 30 day limit, which I was not told about when the sales associate convinced me to get Car Shield. Go review your recordings. In January 2018, I once again paid out of pocket to replace the resistor and harness (Close to $400). Pretty funny how the blower motor, the risistor to the blower and the harness end is not covered especially since when I signed up with Car Shield, your very own sales associate told me that all electrical, AC and heating is covered under my plan. Those are electrical parts directly tied to operating the heater and air conditioning. You can go review the recorded conversation. I was told exactly that, and now in return I get "Sorry, we don't cover those parts", and while you did continuously discount my bill, it still doesn't amount to what I had to pay because I find out that Car Shield doesn't cover most of the stuff that goes wrong. Car Shield is very vague providing proper information on whats covered, and in my case I was lied to in order to sign me up. This is exactly why Car Shield called twice trying to get me to pay off my remainder insurance so that they don't have to discount anything off my balance due to not covering the few repairs done to my vehicle.

I called to get a quote from this company and they were very pushy. I told them I would have to get with my husband, and all they kept asking me is what credit card do you want to put your plan on. I told them to stop pushing me and Andrew kept telling me you don't know when you're Car is going to break down. Again asking me what card do I want to put this on. I finally had to hang up. I Will not be using this company based off of this intial call.

I have never initiated contact nor requested anything from this business and they continue to contact me about a vehicle warranty I do not want and do not need. I called and requested they remove me from their contact database and yet, I still continue to be contacted. They send letters that can be interpreted by many as a warranty not being activated on a vehicle and scare individuals into contracting their services even if they do have an active manufacturers warranty or extended warranty.

There are many marketing companies out there that "cold call" consumers and send similar mailers. You may be getting calls and mailers from several different companies.

We only have record of one inbound call from you on July 5, 2017. At that time we removed you from our mailing and call list. We show no outbound calls to the number you have provided in this complaint.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

You claim to have removed me from your database but yet I continue to receive mailings. I have not received any more calls nor have I made any additional calls since my first when I requested to not be contacted again. That request obviously went ignored and that is unacceptable. I filed this complaint because I made a call once requesting to never be contacted again and once again, I was contacted via mail. Obviously, making another call was not going to change anything. This business had its chance to resolve the issue and refused to do so. I took what action I saw necessary to have myself heard.

Sincerely

CarShield Response • Jan 04, 2018

If the mailers have come from our company, they would say CarShield in one of the upper corners. If you would be so kind as to send us the ID number that appears on the mailers sent on our behalf, we can verify if they have been sent by us and make sure you are removed from our mailing list.

If you are still receiving mailers from our company, we do apologize for that mistake and will make sure it doesn't happen again.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I discarded the mailing. Regardless, I did not just pick out a company to file a complaint without reason. The mailing was from Carshield and I entered the address of the business when I submitted the claim. It was Carshield. I requested to be removed once before and provided the information you are requesting now and it did not get the desired result then. You have my information, please remove me from your systems and cease any further mailings as well as any other forms of contact.

Customer Response • Jan 18, 2018

They continued to to badger me for information about my vehicle even while I continued to ask the name of the company from where they were calling. I asked numerous times and was ignored. As soon as they asked my name and I asked if they were with CarShield, they hung up the phone. I have had enough of this harassment.

CarShield Response • Jan 18, 2018

We are sorry to hear you are still receiving calls from other marketing companies. However, they are not coming from our company. The ONLY call we have from the number you have listed in your complaint is an incoming call from you on July 5, 2017 asking to be removed from our mailing list. We removed you from our mailing list as you requested. We have never called the number you have listed.

Customer Response • Jan 19, 2018

The number on caller ID was a spoofed local number. I answered and was greeted by an automated voice asking questions about my vehicle. I followed the prompts and once a live person got on the call I asked from what company they were calling. They refused to answer and continued with their sales pitch. I continued to ask for the company name and they continued to ignore me and proceed with their sales pitch. As soon as I asked if they were calling from Carshield, they immediately hung up. This, just a few weeks after I filed a complaint because they contacted be by mail after I previously requested they never contact me again. The last complaint went unresolved as they obviously had no intention of honoring my repeated requests to stop contacting me.

For the record, the caller ID that was presented was ***. The call was made 1/17/2018 @ 12:25pm. Obviously a spoofed number.

Call spoofing and robocallers are illegal and my number, the number they called, has been on the do not call registry since 2006.

CarShield Response • Jan 19, 2018

Again, CarShield does not call spoof or robocall. The calls you are receiving are not coming from CarShield. Our company has never called the number you have provided in this complaint.

Our company removed you from our mailing list when you called us and requested that we do that.

We consider this complaint as resolved, as we have never called the number provided in this complaint. The calls you are receiving are from another marketing company.

I was checking into carshield, but after reading the reviews, and the trouble I HAD WITH THEIR WEBSITE, I WOULD NEVER USE THEM, NOR REFER THEM AS IT SEEMS YOU BETTER READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE EVEN CONSIDERING THEM.
