I had got a contract with Carshield. I paid them a $150.00 to start. About a week later I called to cancel the contract. I called plenty times to cancel and for them to refund my money but was keep giving me the run around. Tell told me that you have to wait 30 days before your policy is active. Two weeks later I went and got my vehicle fix out of my own pocket. I called carshield and told them that I don't need their services. But they gave me the run around again. I just ask them for a refund. And this been going on for to long. I even had to cancel my bank card because of them.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this matter.
*** service contract has been cancelled as she requested and she has been refunded in full. She should receive her refund check, mailed to the address listed, within approximately 7-10 business days.

On Jan 2, 2018, I saw an advertisement to purchase a car warranty from CarShield. I called them and they told me all about the warranties available and I said I need something that would take care of problems if they came up in the next 10,000mi, like knocking or whatever. What I didn't realize was that they switched me to a completely different policy that handles negotiating with a mechanic, NOT actually warrantying anything in my truck. I paid close to $300 of my social security, AND it was supposed to be for one year, not two. The representative said I was going to be fully covered with my payment. I have trouble reading and writing and also feel they took advantage of my disabilities.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this matter.
We reviewed the sales call and found that *** was told that this was a repair negotiation from the beginning of the call, as *** has said his *** was having motor problems. The repair negotiation Gold Card was explained to ***, stating that it would not pay for repairs, but could save *** up to 30% on his repairs with experience adjusters speaking to his repair facility on his behalf and also looking into any recalls that might have been issued on his vehicle. The repair negotiation service also comes with roadside assistance and for a one time cost, covers *** for 2 years.
If *** is not happy with is service, we will be happy to refund him in full as a gesture of goodwill.
I WAS CONTACTED BY CARSHIELD REGADING COVERAGE ON MY ***. I WAS TOLD COVERAGE WOULD NOT BEGIN UNTIL JUNE, 2018, HOWEVER, I'VE SINCE DISCOVERED I HAVE FULL COVERAGE UNTIL SEPTEMBER, 2018 AND PAYING $176 NEARLY $200 A MONTH WAS MORE THAN I COULD SIMPLY AFFORD.
I CONTACTED CARSHIELD ON MONDAY, MARCH 19TH INFORMING THEM I NEEDED TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT. I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE RECEIVE THE FULL AMOUNT I ALEADY PAID FOR TWO MONTHS - 12/25 - $195 AND 1/23 - $176.10 TOTALING MY REFUND FOR $371.10. I WAS TOLD BY CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT I WOULD RECEIVE MY FULL REFUND IN 4 TO 6 WEEKS. I RECEIVED A CHECK ON MONDAY, MARCH 26 FOR $136.00. THERE'S NO EXPLANATION OR BREAKDOWN OF CHARGES FOR THE $235.00 THEY ARE KEEPING FOR NOTHING!!! I WAS TOLD AS LONG AS THEY RECEIVE NOTIFICATION BEFORE MARCH 23, 2018, I WOULD RECEIVE MY FULL REFUND!!! I SENT A LETTER VIA FED-X (ATTACHED) SO I DEFINITELY MADE THE CUT OFF DATE OF FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 2018. I AM PRETTY MUCH DISGUSTED WITH THEIR ANTICS AND TACTICS TO KEEP MY MONEY.

I have not used the service and won't. My complaint is that I received an unsolicited letter from them to me, by name, with no mention of what vehicle they were referring to. The letter began: "Our records indicate that you have not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated." This perfectly true statement in this threatening tone sounded as though I had done something wrong! A cowardly attempt to provoke a call from me, as if I was initiating the transaction. Shame on them.
The check engine light came on in my car telling me that I had reduce power. I called Carshield. I was told to take it to a repair facility . The closest one I knew was ***. *** charge $90 to do a diagnostics test. I gave them my insurance information; contract #, Car Shield phone number, and told them to contact Car Shield. I received a call back from *** because Car Shield wanted them to tear the engine down to find out the problem. The representative at *** told me they don’t do tear down work there. They just replace the entire motor. So I contacted CarShield about the diagnostics fee. They refuse to pay citing that *** didn’t do any diagnostics telling them what the problem was. And that I needed to take the vehicle to a place that does diagnostics that will tear down Engine to find the problem. I paid the $90 diagnostic fee. I don’t know why *** sent a copy of my diagnostic to Carshield since they wouldn’t pay the bill. I then called a *** dealership and explained the situation with my car and my insurance situation. I had my car towed there. The representative at the *** dealership told me that he’d get in contact with the insurance company and contact me if he needed any information from me. After dropping my car off at the dealership, Car Shield called me requesting oil change service records for my vehicle, which was provided to them from Fast Track Oil Change Center showing two visits; #1 on 2/11/17 at 71,334 miles. #2 on 7/05/2017 at 78,500 miles, and a 3rd from a mechanic in Illinois on 11/25/2017 at 84,500 miles. After submitting that information, I received another call from Carshield requesting service records from *** from July 10, 2017. Which shows that there was a camshaft actuator solenoid valve replaced. I submitted the service invoice to Car Shield. I then received a call from the dealership representative asking me to give him permission to tear down the engine in my car. He told me that he had took the cover off the engine and that he could see what the problem was. He explained to me that the timing chain slipped and bent the valve stems and that he didn’t need to tear the engine down any further. If he had to tear down the engine any further it would cost me $2000 plus the $90 diagnostic fee and that the car still wouldn’t be running. He told me to contact my insurance company and tell them to send an adjuster out to see what he sees. I called my insurance company and talked to a representative about my car, She told me that they were waiting for the dealership mechanic to call them and tell them the cover was removed from the engine. I told her that I just talk to the mechanic that the cover was removed from the vehicle and they could see what the problem was. She transferred me over to an adjuster and I explained to him the same thing. I was told they were going to make an appointment to go see the vehicle once the mechanic call them and tell them the cover was off. A few moments later the dealership mechanic called me and told me that the insurance company was not going to come out and check the vehicle unless I gave him permission to tear the engine all the way down. He said the insurance Company is trying to find a way to deny my claim. He said the insurance company rep said that he wanted to check to see if there was sludge on the bottom of the engine. The dealership mechanic said that he told the insurance representative that if sludge was on the bottom of the engine that it will also be on the top and that wasn’t the case. The dealership mechanic told me that they were going to do whatever they could to deny my claim and that I should contact the Revdex.com and file a claim.

I inquired to CarShield 03-21-18 about getting a contract on my vehicle for protection. CarShield was the first place I called, as I planned on shopping around to find the best price on a plan of this type. At first, the plan sounded amazing in reference to what it covered. However, the pricing was slightly high, which was no problem and was understood. The problem came into play when the Salesperson was overly forceful in his tactics. I explained to him that I wanted to look around, not because I do not think there is a better price (which there may or may not be) but because I am just the type of person to do so before making a purchase. He did not seem to like this, and after each and every one of his rants about a refund period and what not, he would go back to saying "so what payment method are you going to use today?". Finally, after telling him for a fourth time that I appreciated him going through the effort to get me a good price but that I still wanted to call around, he speedily got off the phone with me with frustration. This suggested that he did not care as much as he portrayed himself to be. To be honest, I was going to call this company back, but after hearing how sharky this saleperson was, I decided that it represented something I did not want to be a part of. To me, it was like one of those salesmen that you try to avoid when going to the car lot! Additionally, he did not have the engine type options and original value price of vehicle even in the same ballpark as mine. It seemed as if he was just using this as a tactic to convince me to go with the service.
CarSheild has consistently contacted me attempting to sell me an extended warranty on my vehicle. They have sent me numerous harassing notices and called me several times in attempt to have me purchase a warranty. I have explicitly told them I have zero interest in purchasing the warranty and do not wish to do business with them. I have requested (again, explicitly) to be removed from their potential client/contact list. I do not know what else to do. I bought my vehicle through Volkswagen and they assured me they did not release my vehicle purchase information to any third-party. Yet, they have not ceased.

We have not spoken to you since you called our office in September of 2017. We removed you from our call list and have made zero outbound calls to you since that time.
We have also removed your information from our mailing list.
There are dozens of marketing companies out there that do "cold call" consumers. We do not. If you have been receiving calls as of late, they are not coming from our company.

I am rejecting this response because: it includes false or misleading information. The representative claims I have been sent no information by mail;however, the day I filed my complaint with Revdex.com, I was referencing a letter I held in-hand retrieved only moments before from my mailbox. I.E. I am still getting harrassing letters regarding this unwanted service. I even included the customer if information in my complaint; it was present on that new letter I received.
I want no further mailings from CarSheild. I was assured I would receive no further mail, but that was clearly untrue. What assurance do I have that THIS time I truly be left in peace?
Sincerely

My father was sold this policy and was told it covered bumper to bumper since my car was 4 years old. Supposedly covers drivetrain. My front wheel bearing is going out. Took it to a dealer who verified this and tried to file a claim. Ford dealer is stating on a 2013 Ford Escape that the wheel bearings are part of a drivetrain. Carshield/ American Auto Shield is denying payment calling it a suspension problem. Luckily, my dad and husband will do the repair since ford wants $500 to fix it ($42 part). I would pay the dealer had I not spent over $600 on this insurance that doesn’t pay anything. My father is canceling coverage on both vehicles on our policy and disputing payments made to the bank for services not delivered. Horrible company full of liars!
I called Car Shield to get a quote on an auto extended warranty. I talked to 3 people before a male tried to talk me into their program. Offered me a special price. I told him to email me the info - that I was just collecting info - he argued with me that they were the best and biggest and I would have 20 days to cancel if I didn't like their plan. He kept wanting my credit card number for the $295 deposit. I finally had to hang up on him because he would not stop arguing with me. Steer clear of this company!
I have received numerous correspondence from CarShield in Missouri. I have NEVER driven, NEVER had a car. There is no reason for them to solicit me.

I was sent a letter from CarShield on telling me my car warranty expired and my immediate response was requested. I called them by the date given to me because I had no idea why I was getting this letter, but it looked serious. When I called the number I got coaxed into buying a car service warranty that I never had any intention of buying. The sales person did not answer questions that I asked and did not give me the option to say no or look at information online. After the phone call had ended I looked up more information on CarShield what I had just done. I immediately called customer service to cancel the warranty and was told that I needed more time to process what I just got and to wait until I get a copy of the contract and an information booklet in 10 business days. When I kept asking the customer service woman about how to cancel the policy she refused to tell me, was rude, and rushed to get me off the phone.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and resolve this matter.
We see that the representative you spoke with did back out your service contract application and refunded you in full the $195.00 down payment you made, back to your *** ending in ***.
Your service contract has been cancelled and refunded in full.

Their unsolicited advertising with its panic words gives a false sense of urgency, which feels especially predatory for folks who have never owned a car before and aren't yet familiar with what is actually an urgency and what is fake or advertising. There is nothing immediately obvious in their unsolicited letter to my house that let me know that their advertising was just that. "RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE REQUESTED / IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED / Our records indicate that you have not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated." CarShield, I don't have a vehicle service contract to activate. Even though in the fine print you eventually admit this is marketing that is not affiliated with any auto dealer or manufacturer, this was very scummy. Scammy advertising does not deserve anyone's business.

As CarShield is only the Marketer/Seller of your United Car Care Vehicle Service Contract, as stated in your service contract; CarShield has no influence or authority over claims procedures, approvals or denials. We did, however, contact United Car Care to check on the claim in question to get you some answers.
United Car Care stated that they sent out an independent inspector to determine cause of failure. When the independent inspector arrived at your repair facility, he and the service technician test drove your vehicle and reported that the transmission shifted normally during the test drive. There were no abnormal noises from the transmission. No failures shown or demonstrated at the time of inspection. Inspector stated, per United Car Care, that if the repair facility could demonstrate failure they could call United Car Care back and they would send out another inspector.
United Car Care cannot proceed with claim if no failure is shown by repair facility.
If there are any other questions or concerns regarding this claim denial, you would need to contact United Car Care at the claims number listed in your contract.

I've had done buisness with this company for about 3 years and have paid thousands of dollars to have this warranty on my vehicle. I recently made a claim due to my vehicles transmission needing a replacement. So far my interaction with this business has been TERRIBLE. Once you file a claim car shield has you bring your vehicle to garage that will do a tear down of the vehicle and then report to car shield with the diagnosis of what they found wrong. Car shield then decides if they will cover your repair based on the diagnosis. I brought my vehicle to a very well known garage due to their work with transmissions with certified mechanics. Before the garage touched my vehicle the garage called carshield with my info to inquire how car shield wants my claim to be handled. Everything was good to go. They diagnosed my vehicle needing the transmission replacement and called Car Shield for me and let them know. Car Shield then halted the process and requested that I bring my car to another garage because the garage where my vehicle currently is cant handle the task at hand with my vehicle. I spoke with the owner of the garage whom was handling my vehicle being fixed with my warranty and he said that was a total lie . He let me know car shield informed him his garage wasn't allowed to perform the work and my vehicle would have to be taken somewhere else. Myself and the garage called car shield several times and have gotten no where with them .....so now due to my vehicle having to go else where to be diagnosed again I now have a labor bill from my vehicle being torn down to diagnose the problem from the first garage. I called Car Shield and asked if they were going to cover the labor cost. They acted like this whole thing was all the garages and my fault and they cant handle the job and they should have never touched my car so I have to pay the labor bill. I couldn't believe the bull crap they were trying to feed me. The customer service I received from a manger was disrespectful. I'm just waiting for another problem from car shield to arise when this new garage starts the diagnosis on my vehicle. The new garage my vehicle is going to currently has some car shield customers getting their vehicles worked on. They let me know that im not alone these customers have also had a terrible experience with car shield not wanting to warranty the vehicle or not paying for certain costs to fix the vehicle. I would discourage anyone from investing their money in this buisness for a vehicle warranty. This buisness has a F rating for a reason!! Save yourself the head ache and frustration!
American Auto Shield, the administrator of your extended service contract, does require the repair facility to do a tear down to cause of failure so that the independent inspector they send out can determine the components that need to be replaced or repaired. According to American Auto Shield, the initial repair facility your vehicle was in, advised the adjuster that they do not do teardown or overhaul. For this reason, they requested that you move your vehicle to a transmission shop so they could proceed with the claim.
Please contact your administrator at
CAR SHIELD--03/07/2018
I received a letter yesterday in the mail from this company and wasn't sure what this was. It is exactly as you stated in the beginning-IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED, OUR RECORDS INDICATE THAT YOU HAVE NOT CONTACTED US TO HAVE YOUR SERVICE CONTRACT ACTIVATED.My husband called to try to see what this was and the person could not explain what this was or what vehicle it referenced. He did however have our two vehicles listed. The CSR ended hanging up on my husband. So I thought I would see what the Revdex.com had to say about this company. I don't think they should be allowed to advertise like this because it makes people think that their service agreements that they get when they buy a car expired. So I will just throw this letter away and hope this is posted for others who are receiving the same same mail. WE ARE NOT CUSTOMERS OF THIS INSURANCE THAT WE ARE AWARE OF. I THINK ITS JUST SOLICATATION.
so generally I do most of the minor changes myself. oil, transmission and radiator fluid along with the filters. does this mean by doing it by myself that car shield will not pay for any repairs that are need saying a new engine or transmission cause I didn't have a certified mechanic do the fluid changes. I change my oil on time and my transmission fluid once a year.
Ever since I bought a brand new car two years ago, I have received a letter from CarShield every few months. The letter is always the same, "Our records indicate that you have not contacted us to have your vehicle service contract activated". "You're factory Warranty has expired." As if they have any clue what my warranty even entails! The letter is purposefully misleading and makes it sound as if you have forgotten to activate the service and that it is a requirement .This is a SCAM and should be illegal, if it isn't already. They are actively misleading citizens and are forcing them into contracts by using fear tactics.
