Champion Energy Services Reviews (170)

Champion spoke with the customer regarding the increase usage and advised we would submit a request to [redacted] to check the customer meter for accuracy and proper function. Champion has received a response from [redacted] and it was determined the meter was functioning properly and the read was...

accurate. There are no applicable adjustments.  Champion made an attempt to retain the customer with a lower rate and explained that the usage is read the same and provided by [redacted] regardless of the REP. The customer declined the offer to renew at a lower rate. All charges are valid and due. If you require anything further please feel free to contact me directly.Regards,Anita [redacted]281-653-1870

Your account was enrolled via a contract with the ownership of the building. They requested all meters be switched t Champion. The account is currently active wqith Champion as we maintain a valid contract. If you require anything further please feel free to contact me directly.Regards,Anita...

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
Documents allegedly sent were not received by me. Phone call recording could have been made by anyone. I only recall requesting a quote for the utility usage for comparison, which was not received. There is nothing in writing signed by the firm. In my mind Champion stole the account without authorization and is attempting to collect an illegal "penalty fee" and collection fee. Neither of these fees are legally binding in New Jersey without a written contract as per my lawyer. If PSE&G had not contacted us that this scam occured, we would not have known. I am authorized to offer $500 to compensate Champion for one years penalty.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  Like I explained to Champion Energy Services I am in a resident area and I am not a business, nor is my [redacted].  And I spoke to PPL and PPL agreed with me that I am a residential account and my [redacted]'s is also a residential account.  I am being charged a GRT charge of 0.090769 plus state sales tax and they are doing the same on my [redacted]'s account.  I AM NOT A BUSINESS, I LIVE IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND MY [redacted] LIVES IN A 55 AND OVER COMMUNITY WE CANNOT HAVE BUSINESSES IN HERE.  I have it right on my bill what they are charging me a commercial rate and it is not the agreed upon rate of 0.08508. I have the paperwork right from Champion thanking me for doing business with them at a rate of 0.08508 for 36 months.   I  do not accept their answer as I have it in writing on their bills what I am being charged and I want all the over charges refunded as well and put my rate down to what they agreed to on their contract

Champion has contacted our client and returned the meter to the utility. All matters are closed with regard to this issue. Regards,Anita [redacted]281-653-1870

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  Why would I say I had a business and was the [redacted] of it.  I am a [redacted] old retired [redacted].  I live on [redacted].  Aren't their phone calls taped, just in case of a problem, I'd like to hear where I said I had a business and am the [redacted].  If I had a business it would be registered with the state of PA, And you can check with PPL that all these years I am residential as is my [redacted] who lives in another town, [redacted] in an over 55 community and I handle his bills as he is an over the road truck driver and he works for someone, does not have his own truck, thus no business.   What is the name of my business and why isn't the business' name on the bill?  Check with [redacted] and you will find I have not got a business, this is my home, I live here,   These people are cheating the senior citizens.  They think we don't know how to read a bill.  We may be old but we are not dumb.  I have placed a complaint with the PUC also, so I have nothing to hide, but apparently these people do.   I do not accept their ridiculous answer.  I was also told by the PUC not to pay Champions half of the bill just pay PPLs part because they are investigating Champion.

Champion contacted the customer and played the TPV recording over the phone. The customer affirmatively acknowledged he was a business and the [redacted] of the business. He also agreed to enroll three meters with Champion. Champion also explained that he is being billed the greed rate for energy however the GRT is including in the rate which is reflected on the invoice. The GRT is a [redacted] tax not a Champion charge. This information is included in the Terms and Conditions received by the customer.
Champion has also responded to the Commission complaints stating the same.
If you require anything further please feel free to contact me directly.

Miss L[redacted],As I've stated, nobody ever tried to call me. It simply did not happen. That's fine if champion doesn't want to do anything,But I will still leave my complaint on file here, and with the [redacted]. I've honestly never seen a business As bad as Champion. Customer service is seriously lacking.

We have contacted [redacted] several times. They have offered to reduce the early termination fee of $[redacted] down to $[redacted]. I still feel that $[redacted] is excessive. [redacted] promised to save me money by locking me into a rate. The problem is, the rate that we were locked into was higher Per KWH than we have ever payed. We have never payed more than [redacted]cents per KWH.  [redacted] locked us in at rate of [redacted] cents per KWH.  How is this saving us money? I feel that this was a deceptive practice and therefore do not believe that I should have to pay the excessive termination fee.  How does this save me money? My electric bills increased by over 30%!!!!! for less consumption.  Had we known that the early termination fee was $[redacted] we would have never agreed to this contract. We are asking that the early termination fee be waived

Customer

Champion acknowledges that we did not contact the customer prior to them switching to another provider. As a courtesy Champion issued a rate credit difference for the 5 days the customer was billed on the default price to reflect the original contract rate. There are no additional adjustments.
If you require anything further please feel free to contact me directly.

[redacted] began a mass transition with an effective date beginning May 1, 2014. Customer who had not selected an alternate provider was transitioned to a REP designated by [redacted] Utility. [redacted] meter was transitioned to Champion Energy by default. The notices the customer...

received were required documentation per the Public Utility Commission.
On 5/5/14 Champion Energy spoke to the customer and advised that during this transition the provider she selected may not have picked this meter up therefore Champion Energy gained the meter by default. Champion Energy advised the customer to contact the other provider and confirm if they may have overlooked this meter as it is associated to a guard/street light.
On 5/7/14 Champion Energy followed up with the customer and was advised that in fact the provider she selected did not pick this meter up.  Champion Energy confirmed there was a pending order for this meter to another provider.
The customer meter was billed by Champion for usage period 5/2/14 through 6/25/14 prior to the time the customer meter was picked up by the other provider. The customer was sent an outstanding balance due notice for $11.46 as the charges were billed and our system auto generates past due invoices.
As a courtesy Champion Energy has issue a credit for $11.46. The account is at a zero balance.
The customer stated she understood and all issues are resolved.

[redacted] in no way mislead [redacted]. During the sales call and the TOV recording the customer was informed of the cost to purchase electricity from [redacted]. During the [redacted] recording [redacted] was advised that an dearly Termination Fee would be assessed if he failed to cancel within the rescission period. The Early Termination Fee is a based on a schedule found in the customer Terms of Service (see attached). The calculation is determined by the customer. cancel date and the months remaining in the contract and the annual historical consumption

however the TPV recording did not pass validation and therefore no account was not credit for the customer. Champion does apologize for the customer experience. If you require anything further please feel free to contact me directly. Regards, Anita [redacted]

Regards,
It's funny how this company only records the part of the conversation that is advantageous to them.  I was told that my electric bills would go down.  I was mislead and scammed. This is not an ethical company. I was never told that my early termination fee would be $[redacted]. I would never have done  this if ALL information was disclosed. I never got a contract to read. I am NEVER  paying this bill. I do not want to do business with these people.  If someone stole money out of your house would you let them back into your house.  No. This company can not be trusted.
