East Coast Moving And Storage Reviews (253)

Every company has negative reviews, and I took that into consideration when I was selecting a moving company to move me from Illinois to South Carolina. The first sales agent I worked with sold me on the company, giving me "tips" on what to look for when choosing a company and reminding me over and over that they were not brokers, offering free storage for 30 days, promising arrival of my stuff within 5-7 days and even told me that they would disassemble and re-assemble furniture.

I booked my move early in advance, had my date picked and a back up date for my stuff to be picked up. I got a call from dispatch on Friday that the movers would come Saturday between 1-3 (and she gave me the wrong moving company name) and informed me that the driver would call 2 hours prior to arrival. The day progressed and I did not receive one phone call, I tried calling the company and ever number led me to the same voicemail and left messages that were never returned. I finally got ahold of someone, he promised to call me back in 20 minutes, an hour goes by and no call. I get ahold of him again and he asks for another 30 minutes, and again no call. This continued until about 7:30pm where someone named David claiming to be the owner called me and promised me that would be there in the morning and to call him after I moved and he would give me an estimate on the arrival of my stuff, but was targeting early the next week. It was snowing that weekend - so I was not mad about the delay in pick up, just the lack of communication and ability to get ahold of anyone.

Movers show up - he gives me a new estimate that was only a few hundred dollars more than what the sales team quoted, which was expected. The surprise was the fact that the money I owed that day was required to be cash or money order, and it was a Sunday, and I was never given notice. The man told me they had 14 business days to deliver my stuff, which was not what sales told me.

Fast forward, a few days after I arrived in South Carolina, I try calling David and get no answer. I try calling the customer service line, no answer. I try calling sales, no answer.. for days. When I get ahold of an agent he says he is going to ping dispatch and call me back, and he never does. The next day same story. Finally getting ahold of a man named Reggie, he tells me that there still isnt even a driver assigned to my stuff and that its all still sitting in a warehouse in Illinois, 10-11 business days after they picked it up, it hadnt moved once. I play back and forth again on when it will arrive, calling for days. Now I am told they actually have up to 21 business days to deliver.

My stuff arrives finally and the movers thought they lost pieces to the bed (which they didnt) and left without completing the assembly of they bed that they took apart.

Like I said earlier, every company has bad reviews. This business didnt damage any of my stuff, they didnt try to throw surprises fees or costs at me. The big problem was ZERO communication and lots of over-promising just so I would stop calling.

We areally sorry to hear of the clients experiences and are looking into the move we ask that the client call the office and speak to Reggie to discuss resolutions

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2015/06/19) */
I have made several attempts to contact East Coast Moving in order...

to file a claim for my broken and missing pieces. I have not recieved any contact from East Coast Movers in order to start the claim process. I am unable to get a return response from this business in order to resolve my issues with their claim process.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2015/06/26) */
We apologize for the clients need to file a claim we will reimburse her through the claims process we are emailing a claim form with instructions to her .

The client was not forced to sign anything besides a contract agreeing to the price and in the signature box of clearly states that it was signed prior to loading therefore no refund is due and the service was provided as contracted

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: They finally sent me an email with a settlement.....ready...

for this.  $174.00 for almost 3 years of crap, beating around the bush, lies and deceit.  Not to mention, what the hell am I supposed to do with $174.00, that doesn't even cover the Ps4 that was stolen, how about the 72 pictures of all the broken items, all the boxes that never even arrived.....this is BS on the highest of levels.  I am not signing this nor am IO agreeing to this slap in the face of an amount.  The least you could have done was refunded us what we paid.
Sincerely,
Jennifer [redacted]

I just want to thank these guys publicly for getting moved out last second for a price I could afford and for doing such a great job. Everything was accounted for and they came on time also.

We are actively looking for the clients end table and we apologize that the service failed to meet their expectations we will reimburse the client fully through the claims process for their lost or damaged goods.

Moving is stressful so I really appreciate the effort and discipline displayed by the men and women at East Coast Moving . They handled our move with care and made us feel very well taken care of. The packing was very detailed and they were true professionals.

We are having difficulty finding this client in our data base and ask that that they reach out to us directly at 855-844-6194 and speak with Mr. [redacted] our Customer Care Specialist at extension [redacted] so we can see about resolving this issue if this is our client

The client was given a good faith estimate based on what they told us they were moving over the phone. The charges for packing were clearly delineated and the piano fee was explained and is on our tariff. The client agreed to the charges prior to loading and signed all the paperwork. We did provide...

the client a discount as well in good faith.

This is a horrific company. DO NOT USE THEM! not only did they miss the window for delivery. several items were completely smashed and broken, and my golf clubs were "misplaced". a set worth well over $1000 dollars to which they offered the settlement of $18 dollars. The costumer service representatives are rude and unhelpful. horrible company. again I repeat DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/07/10) */
The clients had a lot more goods to be shipped then originally indicated so they were given a revised cost. We have provided a discount to the client of nearly $1500 to the client as an attempt to resolve the issue
Initial Consumer Rebuttal...

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The lack of communication continues to exist with this company. They are now telling me that my items will not be delivered to my home for up to a week after the date that they told me that it would be. I emailed the company on July 6 the day that I would be moving into my home which is the 20th. They are not even going to pack my things up and load them until the 20th at the very earliest. They are not even going to load them until the 20th at the very earliest. I'm not sure of the $1500 discount that they are referring to. I was given $350 off of the price and not the $1500. I am willing to provide documentation of the original quote and what I end up paying out. I'm not sure of the $1500 discount that they are referring to. I was given $350 off of the price and not the $1500. I am willing to provide documentation of the original quote and what I end up paying out. I have also been advised that I must pay in cash or a cashiers check prior to delivery. East Coast Moving and Storage controls every aspect of this move and I am forced to agree with their price otherwise I cannot get the items from my home. There is no negotiating with this company.
When I tried to discuss what happened and why my discount is $350, the response I get is "we will talk with [redacted] and he will be lucky to ever work here again." How this benefits me or compensates me is beyond me. I have asked the company to go back and play the calls that they recorded for quality assurance and they will see that I have been misled this entire process. I have also asked for a receipt so I can look at things myself and they respond with nothing or I will get it after I move in.
I have five children and a wife who have been without 85% of the things that they use on a regular basis because this company has been holding it. I have given the company two weeks notice as to when I will be moving in and I have five children and a wife who have been without 85% of the things that they use on a regular basis because this company has been holding. I have given the company two weeks notice as to when I will be moving in and I will now have to go and buy air mattresses to sleep on because we have nowhere to sleep. East Coast moving and storage will not communicate with me as to when my items will be delivered. They give very vague answers so they cannot be held accountable. The "decision-maker" appears to work about 20 hours a week. Each time I call, he is nowhere to be found.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Yet another response from the company with another excuse. If you notice they have not offered any type of discount whatsoever. They have had my household items for over two months now. Their response does not even make sense for that matter. There has been no concession on their part. I have asked them to provide me proof in the form of a picture of the items that they are holding onto still. I have asked for this for weeks and I've yet to receive any type of proof.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 21, 2015/09/03) */
The issues the client has had from the move stem from the fact that he had a lot more items inventory and packing services needed than originally estimated and discussed for his first estimate I moved day we saw that the inventory was a lot more and that you needed packing and he was given a revised inventory an estimate with the new price which you signed and agreed to the delays with the shipment were caused from the oversize load which had to be split in order to get it to him into Time because we did not expect for the shipment to be as big as it was and we did not allocate enough space for it only enough space for your original estimate mouth so why we have tried to do the best we can with the circumstances we are sorry if the service failed to meet the clients expectations the cost involved the move for a business standpoint where extensive no further discount can be given .

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/03/17) */
the client had more items that were not listed items that were bigger than anticipated so they were given a revised estimate that was signed and agreed to prior to loading no refund is due for the charges and we have completed the move as...

contracted
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/03/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I was never offered a revised estimate until the end at which point as I said, I asked what the extra charges were for and he responded to just sign it. What I did forget to mention is that right after he said to sign it he told me that he wished my husband was there because a man would have not asked so many questions and the process would have been faster. My friend was there as a witness.
This response from the business only addresses fees, not quality of service nor the bait and switch sales tactic. As mentioned, the [redacted] was quoted as a medium sized piece of equipment when it should have been quoted as a large piece of equipment. When the mover told me that my [redacted] furniture which is supposed too big from their initial estimates, I offered to break some items down. He said breaking down the chair would only save me $5. If I can break something down to a 1/4 of it's original size and I only have 6-8 pieces of furniture, how do they get off charging me so much more money? The chair was chair sized. It is from [redacted] so it was lightweight and slim as was my other furniture. Again, they said the items were bigger than anticipated... Bait & Switch. My items are normal sized for normal sized people. Two queen mattresses do not vary in size.
Also, the response says nothing about how horrible the service has been. I do not accept this response.
"we have completed the move as contracted." No you have not. I was told it would be here within 10 days and told by the mover it would beat me here. It's been over 20 days and I still do not have my things. You have completed nothing.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 16, 2015/04/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
STOP LIEING!!! I have not received my items!!!! I do not accept this response. Who is writing these responses? You are out of your mind!!! I had to hire another company to bring out our stuff because after 35 days East Coast said they don't actually ever come out here. They said they would keep our deposit and we could get another company or we could wait indefinitely. Finally [redacted] said he was canceling our contract and would provide a full refund. That was over a week ago. At this point they have simply stolen money from us. Enough of this back and forth nonsense. Own up to the scam you horrible, horrible company!!! Give us our money back!!!!
Final Business Response /* (4000, 19, 2015/04/24) */
She has cancelled the move and We have refunded the client and another company is delivering the goods. Sorry for any inconvenience

If you are reading this, it is probably too late. This company claims it's not a broker, but I know for a fact that they are running several companies with different names from the same office. How do I know this? My rep mistakenly called me back from a different number. I redialed the number and got Frontier Van Lines with the same phone menu options. I googled the FVL website, and they offer the same pie in the sky rates, with the same scattered reviews online.

In short they are very bad. The rep assured me they would be a few days on each end. They were very late on both ends, but within their contracted time. Some of my furniture was damaged. The master bed was poorly reassembled. I noticed there were extra screws laying around when I signed the form, but the guy told me they were not for anything. Sure enough, hours later, the bed had no internal support when I wanted to move it, so I had to put it together.

I was able to salvage my time and money by demanding that they take everything that was on my inventory list out of my house. They claimed that the inventory list was only an estimate and they would only take 750 "cubes." They wanted to charge me $6,000 more for the rest of my furniture and boxes.

To limit the damage I agreed that they can take 750 cubes as long as I get to pick what they took. I had them hoist all of my heaviest stuff, then I rented a UHaul for all the boxes for $1000. This plan worked because I have above average strength and because they made me wait so long I had nothing else to do with my whole house packed up, but devise a strategy to limit the damage they do to my family.

They thrive on new movers who don't realize how much stuff they really have.

Please, please ask them why they don't charge by the pound and don't honor their estimates.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/03) */
We ask that the client file a cliam documenting the damages so that we can properly address the claim and reinburse him accordingly. We apologize that the client finds a need to file a claim.

Before I filed my complaint with the Revdex.com, as per the instructions I received from Stefany at the dispatch office I sent east coast move's customer service a numbers of emails with photos, as well as all of the information in my complaint to the Revdex.com. To date, those have not been responded to. So, put another way, I already have, and it has been ignored.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/08/12) */
While we apologize that the move failed to meet the clients expectations the inventory from move day clearly shows more items than what was listed on the estimate. Regarding the damaged items the client will be reimbursed through the claims process.

East coast still has not delivered my daughters furniture after 10 days. They have consistently lied and changed their story a number of times. In spite of promise of delivery today, they now say that the truck is not in Florida at all, and that it should be next week. This company has misinformed each of us and sets a prime example of why the U.S. is falling behind other economies. Dr. James [redacted]
