Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because: I have contacted this business multiple times using this email I emailed
them today (1/19) but will not close this complaint until there is actually resolution This business has had access to my contact information since August when the move was booked and I have provided it to them multiple times.
Sincerely,
Kiley ***

The move was performed by our agents as contractedWe charged the client per the rate agreed upon and the additional charges stemmed From the client moving more items than first described

This should have been a story of one of countless moves that happen without a hitchOur experiences with East Coast Moving and Storage, aka Moving on Up Van Lines (US DOT NoXXXXXXX, ICC/MC NoXXXXXX), however, is an altogether different story
My wife and I were moving from North Carolina to Arkansas, and after we were told by many people to do our research and heed various governmental warnings regarding moving companies, we found East Coast MovingThey had positive reviews, they had checks in all the right boxes, and a friendly sales representative that answered every pointed question we could ask
We paid our deposit and scheduled our moveAs time got closer and we were astounded by the impossible amounts of stuff that we owned, we called East Coast Moving and Storage to update our quoteThis proved to be a near impossible task for East Coast Moving and Storage to accomplish, and after days, they were able to update the quote
Later we would discover that our friendly sales representative had been firedWhile they didn't disclose details as to why, we can speculate that it was because he was a liarHe lied and said East Coast Moving and Storage wasn't a broker and that all of their movers would show up in East Coast Moving and Storage trucksHe lied and said that we'd pay no fees for stairsHe lied and said our things would be delivered within weeksHe lied and said the people who picked up our things would have a final delivery dateHe lied and gave a guarantee as to a maximum of how long our move would take
The day of our pickup arrived and leftThe second day of our pickup arrived and leftLate the second night of our pickup with no contact with anyone, the movers called and said they would be there at AM in the morning the following dayAt 7:30AM the following day (May 21st, 2015) the move began with the grade school excuse of oversleeping
The contractors, when asked about a delivery date, said they didn't have one (Remember the helpful, honest sales rep?) and suggested that we call East Coast Moving and Storage for that information as the contractors were sick of dealing with East Coast Moving and Storage themselves and would likely stop contracting with them altogether
Fast forward to August 3rd, 2015, a Penske truck arrives with a set of contractors to unload our thingsI doubt that in my life I will ever see Rubbermaid plastic totes ripped down the sides againI also doubt that I'll ever hear from anyone else that the word, "Fragile," really doesn't mean anythingFinally, I doubt we'll ever see the missing shelves from our move, or see the clothes and wall mount mistakenly given to us returned to their actual owners
Let's end our little story with some numbersIt took days to complete the moveEast Coast Moving and Storage arrived at exactly of their scheduled dates and times, including alternatesWe called East Coast Moving and Storage begging for any information on the location of our things or a delivery date timesThey returned our calls exactly of those timesWe lost shelving unit, plates, and antiques from my wife's grandmother (they arrived as shards of glass)There was a discount of around $given
There is no question in our minds that we would never use East Coast Moving and Storage againAs of writing this, the only excuse that has been given is that Arkansas is out of their geographic region (this was not mentioned when we booked)I don't really have a particular response to this, as they advertise as a national mover, and while Arkansas isn't the most glorified state it hasn't yet successfully seceded from the USI suppose this would be like going to a steakhouse, ordering a steak, and getting chicken because they aren't used to cooking steaks

My information was passed to this company after filling out a complaint with another companyEast Coast movers sent me emails and called me twice within minutes so I replied back to one of the emails telling them to stop contacting meI then got a reply back from "Daniel" at the office saying he was only trying to help and to "see attachment" to make me feel betterIt was a picture of his ***DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, COMPLETE SCAM!!!

Andrew with east coast was the bestHe made this experience for easy for my wife and I and would recommended any one looking for a long distance mover! Thanks again Andrew!

Sincerely,
Stephanie *** I was never offered a discount on pick upI was told I can pay by card but then was told cash only for the full amountI was quoted for space that was absolutely not going to fit my thingsThe sales man told me I can have a few extra boxes that would be fineThey lied to me to make a saleTheir employee stole my items as wellThey never gave the 2nd driver an inventory list to check off the items before delivering so he wouldn't know what was missingThe company has made NO effort to locating my missing itemsOn their website they promote they do not broker and have their own semis, which is why I picked the companyIf I knew my items would go through different companies before coming to me I would not have picked this companyThis was advertisingNow i'm left with my items were stolen by their employees, damaged good, and missing itemsThey will only pay $cents per article

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/17) */
We apologize if our services failed to meet the client expectations damages are common with long-distance moves we do our best to protect the items but sometimes older or not so well-made furniture may have damages from the stress of the move
the client will be reimbursed through the insurance by the terms of the insurance for the items that are damaged through the claims process we do apologize for the clients need to process a claim and will do so as quickly as possible

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/25) */
First off we apologize to the clients that the move did not work outThey were given an estimate over the phone based on items and number of boxes they anticipated having On move day on the day of the move they had a substantial more amount
of boxes and furniture and were given a revised estimate by the driver also the driver was only anticipating a certain size move so he only had a certain allotment of space on the truck for the goods and we did not plan for the move to be so bigWe were trying our best to accommodate them and are sorry it didn't work out but since the truck and men were there to service the move the clients declined and as per contract they forfeit the deposit

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/07/23) */
We apologize for the delay but the shipment has gone out to the client and they will recieve delivery within hoursAs explained to the client there were delays with shipments to the West coast due to moves being bigger than anticipated and
limited truck space availabilityA discount will be provided for the delay but we are still within the contract guidelines
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/07/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I called on June 16thIt is now days later and my items have yet to be delivered to meYour response says that I would have my items hours based on your date of July 23rdThat would have been yesterday as your delivery date, Yet, still I waitNo items deliveredI was told by dispatch that I would receive a call one day in advance from the driver to notify me of my delivery and verify shipping locationNo callNo deliveryHow do you explain that you are within the contract guidelines? They said allow weeksIt's now over weeks laterHow is this within the contract guidelines? I am waiting for my items and will appreciate the discount for this huge inconvenienceWhen will my items be delivered? Please respond
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/08/07) */
We apologize for the delay in the shipment but the goods were finally delivered

Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because:
The statement made by the shipping company is false The additional items were not correctly calculated The estimate that was conducted on the day of pickup is subjective The crew lead flat out stated that he adds 30% to the original quote to account for packaging and other items My quote was 32% higher The visual estimate that was provided on group of my belongings was quoted at different cubic footage amountsAny attempt to even measure a box to compare cubic footage amounts to the estimate was met with a response from the crew lead that he was going to pull his team and leave.
It is misleading to state that I signed the contract The pickup crew arrived almost hours late The option I was given was either sign and deal with the management or to have the crew leave This was also the option I was provided each time I question the estimate the crew lead provided, and also the option I was given when I requested that we contact the office to clarify several items The pickup was scheduled the day prior to leaving the state and my lease was also ending the next day To say that I signed is accurate, but it is also accurate to state that given the circumstance the signature was placed under duressMy option was to accept a 32% increase in my quote, or extend my lease at my residence another month and delay moving to another state until a new moving company could be foundIn regards to the additional fees, the shuttle for delivery was quoted as being included in the quote and that my final bill was in fact a final bill This amount was even sent in writing by the shipping company The day of delivery I was told by the driver that there was an additional $charge for the shuttle I contacted the management team and explained that it was included and they flat out stated regardless of what I was told on the phone, it was an additional fee If I wanted my belongings I would need to pay the additional fee or I would be subject to rescheduling of delivery (mind you it's been weeks trying to get my stuff) I requested that they review the recorded conversation as the Manager made a point of noting that all calls were recorded To this date I have to receive any response on what was discussed in those calls I can say, with 100% certainty, those calls were not reviewed as I have records of the calls made to the moving company and there were over calls made with hours of conversation between myself and both customer care and dispatchSo to summarize,
1) the quote is subjective and from the words of a representative of this company , they add 30% to the quote as standard practice which is not noted in the contract
2) due to several factors the contract was signed under duress
3) information provided in conversation regarding additional fees has not been fully researched or will be disavowed by the company as clearly states that delivery is included in the final payment and shuttle was not additional
Sincerely,
Eddy ***

The client received an estimate for an allocated amount of cubic footage of space based on an inventory of what the client indicated they were moving however on move day they had more items than described so the driver came them a new estimate onsiteThe client refused service so they forfeited
their deposit

The client recieved a copy of her paperwork at move day however we will resend the documents to the email on file and we attempted to call the client but did not reach her She can feel free to call our office and speak to *** the customer service manager

Hey Margarita, today again I tried to contact you myself and got no respondI understand the result you want is for us to deliver your items without paying the amount of the contract that you signedI would like to talk to you and offer some discount as a good faith to resolve that matter but cant do it if we don't speakplease contact me at the office any day after et and lets get it resolved. Best RegardsSean O

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/06) */
We ask that this client contact the office and speak with the manager *** regarding a refundWe are unable to locate a client by this name in our system so we ask they contact us to figure this out
Initial Consumer Rebuttal
/* (2000, 7, 2015/08/06) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
We finally received our refund check on 6/30/The check came in a regular envelope rather than a company envelope or security envelopeMy check was dated 7/13/2013, but the envelope was dated 7/27/Again I apologize if I ever typed *** our sales agent name was *** (***) and we spoke with a *** who was supposed to be *** managerMy overall experience is that I don't trust this company and again could not confirm it is was a full company or people working in a basementThe fact that they took our deposit and did a no call no show days in a row states they cannot be trusted

We gave the client an estimate based on what they reflected they had so on move day when we saw they had additional items we gave them a revised quote of what we could perform the move for as per the correct protocol and we offered a discount to the client as well in an effort of good faith
furthermore it was not simply a few extra items but a lot of extra itemsWe did perform the service as contracted
