:::::: ExperianJanuary 21, 2016Revdex.com Serving San Diego, Orange and Imperial Counties Viewridge Ave., #200San Diego, CA 92123RE *** ** *** Complaint ID ***REF# ***Dear Sir/Madam:Our office recently received your correspondence of January 13, regarding the
above mentioned consumer's personal credit report. The risk score is a mathematical summary of the credit history using sophisticated statistics and mathematical equations to calculate the summaryNumerical values are assigned to various pieces of information in a credit report, resulting in the risk scoreThe risk score changes over time as a consumer continues to develop their credit history, and may change from day to day as credit history is updated. The interpretations of risk scores differ according to the need and requirements set by the various credit grantors, and may indeed vary on a daily basisSimilarly, different credit grantors can view the same risk score differently, depending on their experiences with other consumers scoring in the same range, their marketing plans, their business niche and many other factorsExperian is not privy to the values assigned to the information appearing on a consumer's credit reportThat information would be considered proprietary to the credit grantor.Common questions that many consumers have regarding their credit scores are "why didn't my score go up?" or "what can I do to make my score go up?" For example, you might ask if closing two installment accounts would improve your credit scoreWhile this question may appear to be easy to answer, there are many factors to considerSimply closing two accounts not only lowers the number of open installment accounts (which generally will improve your score) but it also lowers the total number of all open accounts (which generally lowers your score).Furthermore, such an action will affect the average age of all accounts that could either raise or lower your scoreAs you can see, one seemingly simple change actually affects a large number of items on your credit reportTherefore, it is impossible to provide an accurate assessment of how one specific action will affect your credit scoreA credit score is based entirely on the information found on your personal credit reportAny change to your credit report could affect your score.Risk scores help consumers because they are objective and precise, allowing credit grantors to be consistent and fairThe risk score is computer generated, the only employee participation required is to request the scoreRisk scores eliminate individual biases and judgments from the credit-granting decisionResults are faster, more accurate and assist in the granting of "instant credit" by retailers and auto dealers, speed mortgage processes, and reduce your cost of credit by empowering lenders to make informed decisionsPlease keep in mind that the scores are generated based solely upon the credit guidelines determined by a potential credit grantor. For these reasons, the score cannot be "disputed"However, if there is information appearing on a credit report that is believed to be inaccurate or incomplete, we are able to investigate that specific informationInaccurate information on the credit report could possibly be the cause of an inaccurate??C)? ?.We have mailed a current credit report directly to the consumer for reviewIf there is information appearing on a credit report that is believed to be inaccurate or incomplete, we must have a specific disputeExamples of specific disputes are as follows: "not mine, paid in full, never delinquent or included in bankruptcy” or for public record disputes: “not mine, paid/satisfied, vacated or filed in error"If the status dates, amounts, balances or other specific data is incorrect, the consumer should also indicate what the correct information should bePlease specify the item or account name and number.Experian strives to achieve a high level of customer service for all the consumers they assistLet me assure you that Experian takes its commitment to efficient, expeditious service seriouslyThank you for allowing me to assist youPlease contact me directly at *** if you have any questions.Sincerely,*** *** Senior Regulatory Affairs Associate Consumer Affairs Special Services *** *** *** * *** ** ***
