The identity theft report should include as many of the following elements as possible: specific dates such as when the loss or theft of personal information occurred or when the fraud(s) occurred; how the consumer discovered or learned of the theft; any known information about the perpetrator; the names of creditors and account numbers involved in the theft; name and/or badge number of the law enforcement personnel who processed the report; the filing date and case number. The consumer should make sure they understand exactly what is expected from them, and then ask what they can expect from the creditor. At the conclusion of a dispute, ask the creditor for a document that states they are not responsible for the debt.Follow Up Make sure everything the creditor or credit reporting agency has requested is received. It is always a good idea to place a follow up call or send a letter for confirmation.Review Reports Regularly We suggest that the consumer routinely request new copies of their personal credit report to review.Don't Throw Away Files Keep all notes and correspondence in an accessible file in case they are needed in the future.Thank you for allowing me to assist you. Revdex.com Serving San Diego, Orange and Imperial Counties 4747 Viewridge Ave., #200San Diego, CA 92123RE: [redacted] Complaint ID # [redacted] REF: [redacted]Dear Revdex.com:Our office recently received your correspondence of May 8, 2017 regarding the above mentioned consumer's rebuttal of our response to their complaint. We apologize for any inconvenience Mr. [redacted] experienced in his previous telephone contact with Experian. Appropriate actions are being taken to ensure that any customer service issues are addressed. In the future, he may contact me directly at the number listed below and I will assist him in any way that I can.The date of birth appearing on the personal credit report is used to verify the accuracy of the information you provided to a potential credit grantor, employer, etc.According to our records, we received Mr. [redacted] uploaded documentation on April 24, 2017. At that time, Mr. [redacted] did not indicate that he was sending the documentation to correct the date of birth appearing on his credit report. On May 3, 2017, Mr. [redacted] contacted us by phoneto dispute his date of birth. We were able to correct the information using the proof that he uploaded. At this time, Mr. [redacted] date of birth is appearing on his Credit report Correctly according to the proof he provided. Please note, the date of birth appearing on the personal credit report is used to verify the accuracy of the information Mr. [redacted] provided to a potential credit grantor, employer, etc.The Fair CreditReporting Act (the "FCRA) requires credit reporting agencies like Experian to use reasonable procedures to ensure the maximum possible accuracy of the information it reports. This requirement does not impose a duty on Experian to investigate information reported to it by credit grantors before disclosing that information on consumer reports. Rather, this requirement obligates Experian to use reasonable procedures to accurately portray the information that is conveyed to it. Congress understood that credit reporting agencies would not always be given accurate information, and therefore established procedures for consumers to dispute information in their reports. The FCRAthen requires Credit reporting agencies, upon receipt of a consumer's dispute, to investigate for the first time the accuracy of the item it has reported. If a credit reporting agency accurately reports the information it is given, and then completes its investigation of a consumer's dispute in a reasonable amount of time, the credit reporting agency has complied with its requirements under the FCRA and is free from liability.Thank you for allowing me to assist you.
