I had a complete house fire on November 6, 2006 and did not
return to the residence until March 2007 due to the home being inhabitable. I
had forwarded all mail to another residence. There were no CD’s that were
forwarded to that address. This proves that this was indeed another fraudulent
account made in my name. Thank you so much [redacted] for your prompt
attention to this issue. I appreciate [redacted]s assistance in resolving
the derogatory credit reporting

It would also be helpful if **. [redacted] could provide a copy of that portion of her credit report relating to her inquiry.

I am rejecting this response because:  My complaint is with Columbia House Dvd Club not Direct Brands.  Plus, I never mentioned anything about my credit report - did this woman even read the complaint?  My address has not changed in eight years, so they obviously have it in order to send bills and unwanted dvds to me.   Maybe the wrong business was contacted?    For future reference, my account number with Columbia House is [redacted] and the last bill they sent to me was on 09/11/14.   Please keep pursuing this on my behalf - I don't anything more to do with this company.

I am responding to the inquiry your office forwarded for [redacted].
 
 Upon review, our records indicate that a COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB membership account was opened in [redacted]’s name on April 23, 2007. We shipped the enrollment package on April 23, 2007 and charged $5.00 to the Club account for the shipment.
 
The purchase commitment associated with this membership was to buy 2 DVDs at regular Club price within 1 year of enrollment. 
 
Since we did not receive payment for the enrollment package, we added two late charges, at $3.00 each, to the account on June 8, 2007 and July 6, 2007, in accordance with our delinquent payment policies.
 
When balance remained unpaid, we added a charge of $43.88 to the account.  This amount represents the cost of the 2 DVDs remaining in the purchase commitment, plus shipping and processing charges.  This brought the total balance due to $54.88.
 
We subsequently placed the $54.88 debt in collections with our agency, [redacted]).
 
As a courtesy, we have contacted [redacted] and instructed that they close their file and cease collection efforts.  [redacted] assures us that they have closed the file and have taken steps to remove any adverse information from [redacted]’s credit report.
 
We have closed this DVD Club account with a zero balance. [redacted] may disregard any further Club communications received.
 
                We trust this resolves [redacted]’s concerns.

Upon review, our records show that when **. [redacted] enrolled in COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB on February 9, 2012, she selected the credit/debit card payment method which authorized us to apply all future orders and...

charges, including Director’s Selections, to the [redacted] she provided. 
**. [redacted]’s membership was established as an “online membership.”  Members who select this method of communication receive an email each month, announcing the Director’s Selection with a specific “reply by” date.  Unless we receive a response declining the Director’s Selection by the specific date, we send the Director’s Selection automatically.  
Since we have no record of receiving responses from **. [redacted], a Director’s Selection was automatically shipped to her on July 27, 2013.  We charged $24.38 to the [redacted] on file.  **. [redacted] returned the selection on September 9, 2013. On September 17, 2013, we applied a credit of $24.38 to **. [redacted]’s [redacted].  Our records show that we erroneously applied an additional credit of $24.38 to the [redacted] on September 17, 2013, even though another credit was not due to **. [redacted].
We automatically shipped another Director’s Selection to **. [redacted] on January 26, 2014.  We charged $27.56 to the [redacted].  **. [redacted] returned the selection on March 21, 2014, at which time we applied a credit of $27.56 to **. [redacted]’s [redacted]. 
If **. [redacted]’s bank or credit card statements do not reflect these credits, please have **. [redacted] let us know.
We have closed **. [redacted]’s COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB account with a zero balance.
